Hello to post-ttc-after-mc and/or pg-after-mc grads out there.
It has been weeks since I promised I would put a new grads thread up, but finally am in front of a pc (with a snoozing 4 week old DS on my lap), so here I am. Never quite felt up to joining the regular antenatal threads, so am a bit nervous about joining a postnatal one so late in the game.
Am hoping to hear more good news from the pregnant after MC thread very soon (am still lurking a bit there) - gwlondon being the most recent grad (well done you brave lady if you're reading this). Hope that alb and fedup are also doing well, as well as previous grads.
Am slowly settling into life with 2 DC here, is very tough trying to balance the needs of a toddler and a new baby but so so fantastic to see the pair of them together, even if DD does try to beat her baby brother up most days.

corpore that sounds really hard but also absolutely the right thing to do in my view. I weep at the idea of a late MC, but feel strongly that we should talk about MC in general more freely so people don't feel so alone. Even if it upset both if you on the short term, hopefully she will gain support from it in some way.

hope you are all staying warm. it is so difficult to keep the los wrapped up isn't it. I tried mittens n my D's but he just pulled them off with his teeth!

TwoLittleTerrors · 20/01/2015 16:45

Can't believe so many of us are in the 9th centile club Sad. DD2 has dropped from 25th to 9th. I'm supposed to get her weighed 2 weeks ago, but I've got so busy I just didn't have the time. I am worried but she looks alert and is healthy. What else can I do. It's not like I can force feed her can I? My mum said she might like her food more than milk! I know she's saying it to stop me worrying.

corpore I think you are very brave for sharing. I really don't know what to do in that case. A friend of mine went through infertility at the same time. The difference is I now have a 4mo and she's started IVF. I tried not to say anything on fertility fearing I'll sound smug. That's why it's just a taboo subject isn't it?

pg is the DS the baby or an older child? DD2 has a pram suit and a fleece jacket with built in mittens. They are just foldover bits to cover her hands. She looks really snug in them. DD1 is 3yo and she'll say when she's cold so I'm not too worried.

pgchimp · 22/01/2015 07:24

Thanks tlt DS is 7 no and our only DC at the mo. he used to have one of those suits with wrap over hands but has grown out of it, but you are right perhaps I should invest in a new one.
if it helps anyone worrying about weight, one of my nct crew had a little girl who dropped to 9th and often wouldn't take more than a couple of oz (she was bottle fed from 6 weeks), but then all of a sudden at about 4 months started taking loads and went back up to birth centile, so it does happen.

pgchimp · 22/01/2015 07:26

that should say 7 months, not 7 years. I hope he will not be pulling mittens off with his teeth at 7!

fedupofrainydays · 25/01/2015 08:54

Hello! Just thought would pop in and say hi. Hope you are all doing well and babies are too. Smile
We are doing ok although baby has a bad cough at the mo. He's 4 months, can't believe how quickly it's going!

Alb1 · 30/01/2015 23:50

Hello! Sorry iv not been on in ages, my mums really ill so iv been quite preoccupied. DS is almost 5 months now tho and doing really well, he dropped from 75th centile to 25th and then seemed to hit 3 months and jus stop being sick as much, he's back up to the 50th centile now and outgrowing his clothes faster than I can buy them! Hope everyone's ok, will have a proper catch up soon

pgchimp · 04/02/2015 18:16

hello all. how is everyone getting along? we have a crawling little man, which is very cool, but quite tiring. I am looking at when to go back to work and can't believe how quickly the last 7 months have gone!

there always seems to be something new to worry about doesn't there!

Alb1 · 04/02/2015 20:17

How exciting! My DS is 5 months now, crazy to think he could be crawling in a couple of months Smile how is your DS getting on with weaning?

I popped into the PG after MC thread and saw that gail has had her baby so hopefully shel be over to join us soon. Wel have to get a stats list going soon too, unless we already have one and iv just not noticed...

pgchimp · 10/02/2015 20:30

thanks Alb. he has now progressed to pulling himself up on everything. he is a very physical little chap.

he loves his food and is getting pretty good at finger foods, which is cool. he has a terrible cold at the moment which is dampening his appetite a bit.

hoping to hear some newbies soon. Smile

Babytinx11 · 20/02/2015 21:14

Hi all can't quite believe it had my little girl a week ago today :) at 37+4 :) how is everyone

Alb1 · 21/02/2015 10:19

Congratulations Grin how are you both doing? Are you home and settling in? Wev just started weaning this week, it's fun!! Moving house next week tho, can't imagine that's going to be quite so fun with a baby!

Babytinx11 · 21/02/2015 11:04

Don't envy you moving with a baby alb. We are doing good dd is a little yellow but otherwise fab :) she is definitely a night time baby though always awake for longest at night the last few nights not letting us sleep until 2am then waking every 2 hours for feeds. Does make me laugh when ds complains that she wakes him up making silly noises. Good luck with the weaning it scary how fast it comes around though

MrsGiraffe12 · 23/02/2015 19:27

I've just found out Olivia needs an operation! Was suspected a few months back but she's had an X-ray and it's been confirmed.

She has hip displaysia and will need to be in traction for a week, then an op and a spica cast for 6 weeks, then she's out to sleep again and a new cast put on for 6 more weeks.
Then asleep again and x rayed again to see if she needs the cast for longer or just night splints for 3 month.

Heart broken doesn't come close??

Am pleased to see everyone on here doing so well though, almost a year ago I had my 12 week scan ?? x

Babytinx11 · 23/02/2015 23:07

Oh bless her sorry to hear that mrsg

Had to take Lacey-Rae to the doctors today little madam has reflux among other things not the best start but she is being really good about it :)

mrsg are they going to get Olivia's operation sorted quickly?

Alb1 · 24/02/2015 00:24

mrsg that must be terrifying! I hope they get it organised nice and quickly for you

Well I now have 2 children... My 13 year old sister has come to live with us. It's quite terrifying, I thought I had 13 years to hide away from the teenage years and now I have a baby and a teenager! I had to txt a relative yesterday to ask what time to send her to bed, I'm so clueless! (I'm 25 myself) I realise I'm at great risk of outing myself posting on the internet as it can't be a common situation, but life is so crazy it has to get written somewere at the min

MrsGiraffe12 · 24/02/2015 07:01

baby reflux is horrible, we had that here for a while and were on baby gaviscon, but seems to be better now we are weaning :-) it's horrible so I feel your pain

alb that must be scary for you but so kind you've taken her in. My best friend has a 13 year old (she's 30 do not too far off your age) so do ask if you have any questions!

It could take a couple of months to organise the op, the nearest hospital that deals with it is 2 hours away. It will require a 14 day hospital stay, and I have my 7 year old DS at home, DH who works full time and myself returning to work in May, well it's all stress! I just keep telling myself she won't remember this, but the poor pickle is just starting to roll and desperately trying to sit up too so going to be horrible for her. We will get a disabled badge for her though as spica casts weigh loads and require adapted car seats and pushchairs and highchairs etc. already ready to do battle with anyone who challenges me over it. Can also claim DLA for her when she's in it as she needs more care than an average baby her age (hourly nappy changes so the plaster doesn't get wet, rotation so she doesn't get pressure sores etc). I'm just worried my employer wont be compassionate when it happens, but then I guess it's a bit of a cheek to ask for 2 weeks off after 39 weeks maternity leave and then asking for another 3 months adjusted hours x

Babytinx11 · 24/02/2015 21:19

mrsg that sounds horrible poor little thing :( hope your employer is understanding its a horri situation to be in :(

alb it's an awesome thing you have done having your sister live with you :)

Alb1 · 02/03/2015 11:18

I got told off for weaning the other day :-/ they said 6 months, which I had worked out to 24 weeks (6x4weeks) and DS is 24 weeks but aparently that's wrong your suppose to wait to 27 weeks, theyv never said that, always 6 months so I had no clue it was 27 weeks, they really shud be clearer! Wev decided to keep on with fruit and veg anyway and have just removed gluton and meat as suggested, which DS is most upset about, he loves chewing on abit of toast or crusty bread, helps with his teething. Thanks all, it's quite scary suddenly having 2 children, and she's come here because our mum has passed away so it's a very lost feeling not having a parent to ask all my parenting questions to!

mrsg how's your employed been about it all so far?

baby how are you getting on with the reflux?

MrsGiraffe12 · 02/03/2015 20:27

alb I've been weaning since 22 weeks as she's always been hungry and my HV said as long as I do no meat, wheat or gluten before 27 weeks its fine! Funny how they all have different rules isn't it!

Boss has been lovely, I'm not due back till may but have said take whatever time I need with DD and it will just be unpaid leave thank goodness, I couldn't afford to loose my job, even though it's only part time x

MrsGiraffe12 · 02/03/2015 20:29

And alb sorry to hear about your mum, I lost mine just before Xmas and even though we were not close its still hard, so can empathise and sympathise with you x

Alb1 · 02/03/2015 22:00

Thanks, it's a strange time, I get married in 5 weeks aswell and wev gone from talking about weaning and wedding outfits to her being gone in 3 weeks (we knew she was ill but it was faster than expected).

I'm glad your boss is being so good, I bet unpaid leave is still not ideal but atleast the jobs there to go back to. And yeah health visitors are odd like that, il be getting a new one as were moving to a different area this week so I'm curious to see how they differ

Babytinx11 · 03/03/2015 15:57

So sorry about your mum alb Flowers
As for weaning we starting wearing DS at 14 weeks and no one said a word and I have never heard of no wheat or gluten either :/ it seems to change all the time Confused ds was weaned early because of reflux though so maybe it's different.

Glad your boss is being good mrsg Smile

Reflux is proving harder to deal with this time than with DS :( back off to the doctors today hopefully get something sorted got to keep a diary of her feeds and how she is now in case of allergies. It's heartbreaking seeing her getting upset over feeds though :(. Thankfully she is still doing well only lost 2oz her 1st week then gained almost 1lb last week :) she's weighing 8.10 at last check. Just need to get her comfortable and happy now so fingers crossed the doctor can help

Cuppachaplz · 03/03/2015 17:49
