Just wrote a long message on the old thread only to have it not post because we'd filled it.

We really ought to do less chatting and more sleeping Wink

Nature I think that's cute! What a great idea.

Party went well today. I will post some pics on FB. My Mum made a fab cake! S was knackered so gone to bed early. Now DP has got to try and build up her trike for tomorrow Grin unlucky for him!

BookTart · 22/12/2014 15:47

We're just back from Dorset, where we did xmas with the in-laws. P was fantastic, she even slept through both nights, but her nanny and grandad were a bit much. I know it is their first christmas as grandparents so I'm trying to cut them a bit of slack, but bloody hell there can't be a toy left in the South West! We almost had to leave her travel cot behind because we couldn't fit it all in the car. Her naps were a nightmare too, because every time she started to get tired they'd get out some noisy dancing reindeer toy and rev her up again. Still, maybe next year they'll have calmed down a bit, and it is lovely that they think she's so great. I'm still hitting the wine now I'm home though!

S's party looks like it went well felix. I might blatantly steal your idea of decorating her high chair Wink

FelixFelixNavidad · 22/12/2014 17:44

Pinterest has a lot to answer for Book! Grin Sounds like the visit went well. My Dad is the same with S and gets her all excited and over-tired which irritates me. He doesn't see her much though so I just put up with it.

I am awash in a sea of toys too. There's absolutely tonnes of them Shock

Naturegirl82 · 22/12/2014 18:14

Ah at least they were excited book and hopefully it's not disrupted her sleep.

I'm poorly. Swollen glands, sore throat and temp. I've taken paracetamol but don't think I can take anything else. I've got far too much to do before Xmas to be ill Sad

AMillionNameChangesLater · 22/12/2014 19:14

Sounds lovely book but I know its frustrating my mil and sfil were the same.

Henry has conjunctivitis, so we have antibiotics for him. Trying to get the drops in his eyes are a bloody nightmare!

Swannykazoo · 22/12/2014 20:11

Happy birthday Felix - hope S has had a good day. We've had a great day though Hugh has rubbed most of his birthday cake icing in his hair and I'm too slack ahem too busy to bath him so I have a slightly sticky but lovely chocolatey smelling baby

TobyLerone · 22/12/2014 20:47

Birthdays! I can't believe they're not babies any more :(

Happy birthday to Sylvie and Hugh Cake

Sorry you're feeling crappy, nature :( Me too. Headache since Friday and I'm fairly certain that someone's been attacking my throat with razorblades in the night. M is still disgustingly snotty, as is DH.

Glad you had a good trip, La Famille Book :)

I decided it would be a good idea to get my niece and nephews over for some family photos of all the kids today. Herding cats, anyone?! We had DS15, DD12, two nephews (10 & 3) and my niece (5), along with M. I wanted to shoot myself the 3rd time my niece started crying because someone looked at her wrongly. But we eventually got some nice pictures!

DD1 and I are off to brave Sainsbury's in a bit Hmm
Tomorrow I have to make the ice cream for Christmas day, and ice the Christmas cake. And I seem to have a few extra presents to wrap. Then up early on Christmas Eve so that DD1 can open her presents before she goes to her dad's (DS wants to stay home til Boxing day, then get on with the veg prep for Christmas day.

Roll on Saturday, when we have a little bit of respite!

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 22/12/2014 20:48

DD1 is 13, not 12. Has been for over half a year. I told you my brain was frazzled! Blush

OP posts:
Angelesque · 22/12/2014 22:20

Anyone not started wrapping their presents yet? It's going to be fine doing all my wrapping with a 10 mo old by my side tomorrow, right? hopeful face

I am usually the Christmassy person ever, but have found it hard to get into it this year...

God it feels good to have finished work until the 5th!!

Naturegirl82 · 22/12/2014 22:27

I found it too hard doing it when O was around angel as she likes to try and help. Although it wasn't much better doing it when she was in bed as the dog likes to eat pens and sellotape so I had that to contend with instead. I was starting to feel christmassy but now just hoping I'm well. Christmas day is going to be hard enough with the tiredness don't need illness on top!

Naturegirl82 · 23/12/2014 00:52

Feel like I'm really complaining but my ear temp is 38.9 after paracetamol. Not sure what else to do. Worried a high temp might hurt the baby.

alteredimages · 23/12/2014 06:07

Happy brithday Sylvie and Hugh! I am glad they enjoyed the parties!

Glad you're back book. Sounds like you did well to make it out without drowning in the toys. Smile

nature you are not at all complaining. I am sure the temperature will settle but I would call the doctor tomorrow for an emergency appointment as they wouldn't want your temperature to get any higher, especially over christmas. Apart from that there isn't a lot you can do except rest (ha!) and take your folic acid. I hope you feel much better soon. Flowers

Conjunctivitis sounds rubbish million. Hope H is feeling better soon. Are your boys ready for their first christmas together? I am living vicariously as there are no christmas holidays here for most people and DH is a meanie and won't let me go to my friend's house for xmas day. We don't even have a tree, though DD does have a christmas tree hairband and we made mince pies and gingerbread. Still two more weeks of school holidays to go and my stepmum is away so dad and brothers are having an old school family christmas back in the uk. Jealous? Me? Grin

If there is ice cream involved toby I am turning up at yours.

TobyLerone · 23/12/2014 06:39

:o altered, you'd be very welcome! I'm sorry you're not getting a Christmas :(

Hope you feel better soon, nature Flowers

I'm going to have to take M to the Dr today. I think she has croup :(
Because I totally have time for that Hmm

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 23/12/2014 06:40

Whoa, so many emoticons!

OP posts:
alteredimages · 23/12/2014 07:00

Poor M. Sad My youngest DB had croup when he was a baby and we still call him the baby seal 21 years later. Grin I appreciate that probably isn't what you want to hear, but apart from coughing funny he is absolutely fine.

I am in fact going to BF's house tomorrow for the day, but it clearly doesn't count because I will have to leave before carols from kings comes on. I also forgot my portable hard drive with Elf on it. Why is there no (christmas) disaster emoticon?!?!?

Naturegirl82 · 23/12/2014 10:12

toby hope M is ok.

altered that's rubbish that you don't get a Christmas.

Been to the Dr's and I've got an ear and throat infection, so have antibiotics. Just hope they start working quickly as I really don't want to be ill on Christmas day.

alteredimages · 23/12/2014 11:25

nature glad the doctor could help and I hope you are feeling better by Thursday. I think the antibiotics should have started to take effect by then. In the meantime, your DH and O can wait on you hand and foot!

To be fair about christmas, we are muslims in a muslim country so I am being a bit silly. We probably would have done something but DH has an important meeting on christmas day. The real issue is what on earth do I do with DD until she goes back to school on jan 4th? The kids are tag teaming me. Shock I don't know what will happen if I have to watch Azur et Asmar again. Petit Ours Brun is also quickly becoming my sworn enemy.

There is a sizeable Christian minority here but they celebrate Christmas on January 7th so we have a public holiday then. No mince pies though Xmas Angry.

FelixFelixNavidad · 23/12/2014 17:06

Puggle happy birthday to Hugh! Glad he had a good day Grin

Nature hope you're feeling better soon. So rubbish being ill at xmas Sad I remember one year having a stinking cold and I couldn't taste my Christmas dinner! I was gutted!!

Toby hope M is ok?

Million how do you get the drops in?! Shock hope it clears up fast.

Altered you should demand mince pies on the 7th Grin

We are off up to PIL's tomorrow until Saturday. S will be in the travel cot and I am hoping she will sleep ok. She was up 7 times last night from 10.30 onwards then woke at 4 and wouldn't go back down until 6.15 Confused no idea why. The 7 times she woke up, she had her dummy and went back to sleep. I'm still not feeding at night and she doesn't seem bothered about having water from the bottle either so I think we have cracked night weaning but she's still waking up for no reason!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 23/12/2014 19:06

Felix we have to hold him in a headlock and force his eyes open. It's bloody traumatic and another reason he prefers his dad! Dh is rubbish.

Today my great gran died. She was 90, but it was a shock, even though she wasn't well. Waiting to hear when the funeral is. It will probably be in the NE, and I'm not sure about taking the kids, so I'll be taking the train up alone as DH will stay here. I'd not seen her in years, she wasn't a nice woman, but she was my nasty great gran and she loved dh. Said he was a true gentleman. Sorry, am rambling!

Naturegirl82 · 23/12/2014 19:26

million sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose someone even if you haven't seen them for a while

angel how did the wrapping go? Also what happened about your resignation? Did they accept it or offer better conditions?

Still feeling rubbish. But I've been in bed all day which I'm hoping will help. Still got all of O's presents to wrap which I want to get done tonight as we are planning on going to midnight mass tomorrow at 6.30! so there won't be time afterwards.

Got so much to do tomorrow Sad

FelixFelixNavidad · 23/12/2014 20:24

Sorry for your loss million Sad

TobyLerone · 23/12/2014 22:07

Sorry for your loss, million :(

I had to see the world's rudest nurse with M today because the doctors were fully booked up. She basically didn't believe me when I was telling her about the seal noise M was making last night, because she didn't cough in her office. She also saw fit to inform me (a lifelong asthma sufferer) that everyone with asthma makes a barking noise when they cough. They don't. I told her this. She said I was wrong.

The upshot was that she has given me an inhaler for M because she more than likely has asthma anyway.

My throat is now officially horrendously painful. It's all on one side and my gland is huge and my ear hurts. I have soooo much to do tomorrow :(

OP posts:
BookTart · 23/12/2014 22:26

Sorry about your great gran million Thanks

That nurse sounds hugely helpful toby. Poor M, is she any better tonight? And poor you too. Does paracetamol help? Anything I can help with tomorrow? I can't make mince pies or anything, but I could kneecap the nurse for you Wink

Naturegirl82 · 23/12/2014 23:09

toby that nurse sounds a right pain. I really never understand how people in a caring profession can be so rude. Hope your throat feels better in the morning and the inhaler helps M.

I managed to get all the Christmas presents wrapped over a few hours interspersed with lying down breaks. Just hoping I'm feeling a bit better tomorrow as I've got a lot to do. I can delegate some of it to Dh but not everything.

FelixFelixNavidad · 23/12/2014 23:10

Sorry everyone that is ill Sad

Toby that nurse sounds like a massive bum hole!

Is 12 month sleep regression a 'thing'?
