Just wrote a long message on the old thread only to have it not post because we'd filled it.

We really ought to do less chatting and more sleeping Wink

Also I need to tell you lot as I was going to start a thread but I'm too chicken Grin

My bloody DP has gone and shaved his legs Shock It's so disturbing!! Just to set the scene - he's a very dark hairy man (think beard, tache etc) and he always wears shorts no matter what the weather is (including snow!). So I'm just going about my own business yesterday and walk in to the bathroom to see him bent over in the shower covered in Veet & trying to shave the back of his legs. Apparently it's for cycling related reasons Confused They are so silky smooth and it makes me feel all weird. His legs are less hairy than mine ffs. So now when we are out and about and his wearing his ridiculous shorts even though it's -5 degrees, he's going to be blinding everyone with his lovely hair free pins. Bleughhhhh!!!!

I feel better now Grin

BookTart · 08/12/2014 09:11

If it makes you feel any better felix, P is the only person that has any presents, none are wrapped, and I have my mother coming down to stay on Christmas Eve with all her allergies and madness. It will all be fine in the end, I'm sure Wink

altered I've given all P's stuff away as she gets too big for it. I'm alright when I do it, but I got a bit choked seeing it all on tables at the second hand sale. Do you still have a toy from when N was born? Maybe that could be your keepsake if you do.

Difficult day yesterday. We had a christmas meal with our NCT group. P screamed almost constantly, but ate an entire children's meal plus pudding Shock She then spent the rest if the evening pooing constantly. It was pretty grim. She missed her second nap totally, but the sleep went quite well. She woke a few times, but we heard her just grumble and go back to sleep, and DH didn't have to go in to her until 5.15. I'm really pleased, even if I did have to get up for the day at quarter to six! No night feeds at all. I'm a bit confused about what to do when she wakes so early to morning though - ideally she'd wake at 6.30-7.00, but if she wakes up at 5.30 is it worth DH trying to settle her?

I'm sure she'll make up for it tonight though...

BookTart · 08/12/2014 09:14

That must have been a shock felix! I know a few cyclists that do this, but if DH did I'd be slightly put out by it, mostly because he has better legs than me!

alteredimages · 08/12/2014 09:25

book the crying must have been annoying but from your description of P at the meal yesterday she sounds like my kind of baby. Grin

I am fine too about giving stuff away, it is only a few months afterwards I think "oh Confused". But I would much rather the stuff be used so should just get over myself. I think the real issue is that i would quite like to be back in paris with lots of time to myself. Grin Good work on the sleep. I would also like to have a ball pit for me!

I have PMed her too Felix but she hasn't replied. Sad Hopefully she fine and is just too busy.

Apparently leg shaving is par for the course with cyclists felix Xmas Shock

I am off to work out how to make mincemeat.

Naturegirl82 · 08/12/2014 10:49

Is anyone friends with becca on fb? I know she is part of the fb group.

alteredimages · 08/12/2014 10:52

That's a good point nature. I am not on the fb group but I think it was mostly humpty and million who set it up and they would have to have added her as a friend first.

Bambooshoots14 · 08/12/2014 12:30

Just checked and I'm not so maybe humpty or million added her. I clicked on her profile but can't see anything. Hope she's ok. Think I should send Her a fb message?

FelixFelix · 08/12/2014 13:20

I added her! I've checked her fb and she barely posted anyway (just shared the occasional pic) and there's nothing on there since October.

MerryPops · 08/12/2014 15:31

I've been thinking of becca too. It's hard to explain to dh as he doesn't quite get me worrying about someone I've never met, but we've been posting (in my case lurking) in this group for up to 18 months now and it has been a sanity saver numerous times so it's easy to get invested in everyone's lives. I have everything crossed that she is ok.

We are still not quite over the cold bug here yet, and the second I go anywhere near him with a tissue or wipe a look of panic comes over him face, bless.

All the Xmas decs are up and everything intact so far. I cannot believe there are only 2 weekends before Xmas, it's really snuck up on me this year what with this having a child lark.

Up late for work this morning, all work trousers in the ironing pile. Cue much raised eyebrows in the office when I rock up in my power dressing dress and heels, when I'm usually a flats and trousers kind of girl. At least I provided some entertainment Hmm

Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 08:14

Argh, well I didn't bring the car seat to work with me today, but I did bring the only key to the car that had it in so it still can't be used. So annoyed with myself. Just can't seem to get my brain in gear at the minute.

FelixFelix · 09/12/2014 09:53

Nature how annoying! DP has gone to work with the pram in the boot of the car today so we can't go out anywhere Sad it's just one of those things.

S has come down with a mega cold. She's so snotty! She slept well last night though. Up at 11 (DP settled her within 15/20 mins) then up at 5 and back to sleep after a bottle.

I think we are in for a boring day. We stayed in watching telly all day yesterday and I think we will have to do the same today. Anyone got any good ideas to make staying in more interesting? I can't think of anything to do with an 11mo Blush

alteredimages · 09/12/2014 10:12

Snap felix. We are back in our flat after 3 weeks with PIL and N is not happy about his cot! The place is all dusty and I cant clean because N is being so clingy and tries to take a bath in the mop bucket. Not fun!

I know what you mean Merry about being so invested in other MNers lives. It probably isn't healthy but MN has been a real help and source of support for me so it is so hard not to feel involved.

Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 10:34

Eek got my booking in appointment on Monday. Starting to feel very real now! I have the same Mw as last time and she was just really lovely on the phone Smile

Ah Felix that's annoying for you. Do you have a park close by that you could carry S to?

alteredimages · 09/12/2014 10:37

Yay nature! Glad you still have the lovely mw.

I am so fed up I have had to stick N in his cot to cry. Sad

FizzypopFireball · 09/12/2014 11:47

Snap altered. I'm fed up too. Getting H to sleep at the moment is awful. I spend an hour at least feeding him and wrestling with him for naps and at bedtime. I've been trying to get him to nap just now to no avail. I've just shoved him in his cot and left the monitor with dh, so I can have a little cry to myself. My chest is clawed and my nipples are bitten. I've had enough.Sad

I often worry too about the Jan 2014 MNetters. Even the ones from the pregnancy thread, when I just lurked. I often wonder about sultana, enormouse, humpty, and others. I hope they are all well.

Argh. I can hear H thumping the wall in his room. He's not gone to sleep by himself then...

Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 12:48

Those of you with more than one dc and small age gaps. How long did you need a double buggy for if at all? O will be 18 months by the time this lo arrives and will have been walking for a year (Shock). I can add a rumble seat and buggy board to my Uppababy so wondering if this will be sufficient. I'll probably also be using a sling a lot as well either for O or the new baby.

TobyLerone · 09/12/2014 13:05

I did use a double buggy but tbh it was more trouble than it was worth. If I had another I'd just use a sling and then a buggy board.

OP posts:
Naturegirl82 · 09/12/2014 13:37

Toby I'm thinking I can get away with the uppababy with rumble and buggy board. That way it's still a single but O can go in if necessary or use the buggy board. I don't want a proper double.

BandontheFun · 09/12/2014 16:20

Congratulations Nature amazing news! The buggy board and rumble seat sounds like a better bet, I would think a double would be a necessity with twins. no doubt O will want to walk everywhere anyway by then.

The wether here is awful just now, wind and rain, I have no option but to be home with H, so 2nd Felix's question about stuff to do in the house. The emptying of the dvd units not cutting it anymore.

FelixFelixNavidad · 09/12/2014 16:53

Nature I think you'll be fine with that too. Can't believe she will have been walking that long by the time dc2 will arrive Shock

Band the weather is rubbish here too. Even if I did have the pram I probably couldn't have gone out today. Wins and rain, and we had snow yesterday Blush

CBeebies is starting to grate on me.

FelixFelixNavidad · 09/12/2014 16:53

Excuse my xmas name change Grin

TobyLerone · 09/12/2014 20:55

Brilliant name change, Felix :)

M is still obsessed with laundry, so on horrid weather days I just do loads of washing and she 'helps'.

We've started gradual retreat this week. Well, I haven't actually retreated anywhere yet. I'm sitting on cushions right next to the cot. Last night she took 40 mins to go to sleep. Then I went to get up and stepped on the squeaky floorboard and she started screaming and it took another 40 mins to get back to sleep.

Tonight I put her down at 8.30pm, and by 8.42pm she had lain down and was quiet. I'm still sitting on the floor drinking the tea DH just sneaked round the door for me, but I might even try to leave the room when I've finished!

OP posts:
FelixFelixNavidad · 09/12/2014 22:20

Toby I found S managed to learn to go to sleep without being fed quite quickly, so hopefully it will be the same for you. Those floorboards are a right bastard aren't they!

Just put the tree up and I'm feeling festive Grin

FizzypopFireball · 09/12/2014 22:21

Wow, Toby that's brilliant. You give me hope. I've spent 2 1/2 hours trying to get H to sleep through wrestling, wriggling, swinging on the curtains, cajoling feeding tonight.

I especially like the sneaky tea idea!

TobyLerone · 10/12/2014 02:14

She's up and screaming. 5 minutes so far. Last night when she woke in the night it only took about 10 minutes for her to go back to sleep.
