tatty seriously today I lit the fire and parked baba in front of it as his entertainment for 20 mins. While I sat down with the paper. Lazy is the way forward!

Anyone else finding it hard to remember an evening not dominated by constant feeding? It's so hard. DH can placate him for ten mins or so. Can't remember a dinner without M grumbling in the background for boob. And he's a lovely baby really just feeds himself to bursting point. In the last eight days he has been bringing up small amounts of sick sometimes sfter a feed. And I met a woman the other day whose baby feeds every three hrs like clockwork. She can set her watch by it!

FATEdestiny · 25/11/2014 21:55

DH gets most of our smiles. My older children get a few. I get hardly any Hmm

MundayCakes85 · 25/11/2014 22:26

DH getting grumpy from being tired, although he insists it's me picking on him when I'm trying to be extra nice He's also being less cuddly/ interested in me Sad
I'm really trying hard to talk to E as much as possible and try to fit in time on the mat and in her bouncy chair because the first few weeks I didn't do this at all. Think we all have confidence wobbles- know you're doing a great job Tatty and others. Flowers

Am by myself tonight and the red in the face screaming has nearly broken me. I'm also worried cos today's poos were greenish.

Fisher Price jumperoos are reduced on amazon if anyone is interested. Think our cohort is a bit young but I got one for future use anyway.

Missus2ndwife · 25/11/2014 23:10

Anyone else's baby refusing to sleep tonight?

First he was hungry again so we fed him an extra half bottle;
he fell asleep about 30mins later, so we all went to bed but oh no, he woke himself up again didn't he?
10mins of rocking, put him down again... But no, he doesn't want to sleep does he? Talked himself into hysterics until I picked him up.

So we are back downstairs, I've put the telly on and the colours coming off the TV seem to be entertaining him now... He's chattering away.

MundayCakes85 · 25/11/2014 23:21

Well that was a disaster- quietly take sleeping baby upstairs. Think I'll quickly change her and give her a dream feed.
Clean nappy 1: peed all over as I'm putting her bum in, no problem I clean her and try again.
Clean nappy 2: I do up and she smiles at me before pooing for a good 5-10 mins Shock
Let's see what happens to nappy 3!! Sweet dreams everyone Grin

Rudy the in-laws bought one for E for Christmas, figure it's a long way to b'day in October so she'll enjoy it before then. We've also had green poo and upset straining- if BF I found feeding from the same boob repeatedly if doing multiple feeds helped (block feeding) so she didn't get too much foremilk. Hope the screaming stops soon.

Missus myself & baby sleeping soundly until DH decides to have 11pm disco in the loft with the TV aerial & rearrange spare room. Now whole house is awake! Going to get payback tomorrow, already requested breakfast in bed!

Missus2ndwife · 26/11/2014 00:14

CJ you want more than breakfast!! Wink

BadgerInBury · 26/11/2014 01:08

Another member of the up-all-night gang here. Baby Badger seems to be having a growth spurt at the moment and wants to feed, feed, feed. Then cuddle. Then feed some more.

goats I'm in awe of your one-inch-to-prepregnancy-waist situation. We just got the all clear at our 6-week check so I'm going to start making a concerted effort to get back into shape, mainly with plenty of walking. I remember you said you were doing about eight hours a day - do you wear Pippa and if so what carrier are you using? How has your back been?

pebble82 · 26/11/2014 02:02

I'm up too. DD has been so good during the day but we've had two nights now of whinging for hours. During the day I can feed her, burp then put her down to sleep no problem. As soon as it gets to 11pm she just will not go to sleep and decides to cry and cry instead. Not colicky crying anymore but just whimpering attention seeking noises so frustrating! Also annoying as we're still getting lots of daytime visitors who moan when she stays asleep the whole time. Means I can't sleep when she sleeps too. Seriously considering only allowing visitors after midnight until 5am!

ohthegoats · 26/11/2014 02:38

badger up to 8 miles rather than 8 hours. Yes I wear her - stretchy boba sling most of the time, sometimes a boba 4g. Back has been fine, but she's still under 10lbs, so easy to carry.

Trying out a new plan this evening/tonight - so far so good on reducing feeds and crying, and just got a 4 hour sleep - unexpected, thought by putting an end to cluster feeds, I'd be in for a night rrom hell. Spose there is still time,,..

RudyTuesday · 26/11/2014 02:51

Thanks munday, I think it probably is too much foremilk - he was getting upset early in feeds so coming off boob after short while. Will attempt block feeding.

I have stinking cold - dreading baby getting it Sad

Happytimes31 · 26/11/2014 03:43

Had a bad early night here too lots of grizzly crying, but just had a three hour stretch, feel knackered though! Green poos here as well, when people are block feeding how long are they going between feeds? He seems to finish after a short period and then have a break for a while and then be crying hungry again so I guess then I should be offering the same
boob and not the other one.

Happytimes31 · 26/11/2014 03:46

sore how has your infection presented if you don't mind me asking? My scar pretty much stopped hurting completely but now hurts again and the area above it is swollen but hard (but not hot or anything). Could be from a little someone bashing it with their feet during winding though...

mrsb87 · 26/11/2014 03:52

*happy I block feed, fed off of one side, if they ask for more within 2 hours of feeding them use the same boob.

Sorehead · 26/11/2014 04:39

Happy- I've had a hard lumpy bit above the scar for weeks, which was mildly painful. My midwife said it was probably scar tissue but to keep an eye on it. It suddenly became more painful overnight, which i put down to being rubbed by pyjamas but the following day my body ached as if I was getting flu and the hard area was starting to go a bit pink. Apparently my temperature and heart rate were slightly elevated too.

If yours has started to become painful after a period of not hurting, I'd go and get it checked out just to be on the safe side :) after blood pressure and temps, the nurse just poked around a bit, typed out a prescription for penicillin and gave instructions to immediately see a doctor if I became shivery/ feverish. If you do go, either take a urine sample or don't go to the toilet immediately before your appointment like I did because the nurse offered to check my urine to make sure I didn't have a UTI (she said unlikely as no symptoms but just to rule it out)

Hopefully yours is just from being kicked though :)

Sorehead · 26/11/2014 04:40

Sorry, that turned into a bit of an essay!

MundayCakes85 · 26/11/2014 06:25

Happy I offer the same boob if within 2 hours. Before I was offering both boobs during feed as I was told she should have both.
She slept for 6 hours straight!!
Although my boob almost exploded so I was awake for the last 20 mins waiting on her Grin Grin Grin

Happytimes31 · 26/11/2014 06:36

Thanks mundy, sore and mrs I have my six wk check next wk so will continue to monitor closely I think. More green poo overnight Sad but then have only done two feeds without offering both boobs. Going to try keeping him on one if he feeds within two hours, during the day though he was only going two hours start to start so I guess that would still be same boob?? Trouble is he seems to get really angry with it near the end and then is awake whereas if I then do offer him the other one he does a bit on it then falls asleep. Am so confused! It couldn't be me starting to take the pregnacare breastfeeding stuff could it? The green poo I mean.

Laura had green poo when she was about 1 week which I solved by block feeding. She tended to only feed for 10-15 mins every hour so I used same book for 3 feeds. It took several days to get better- so stick with it!
Those of you expressing and bottle feeding I want to start next week when Laura 6 weeks to allow me to go out once in a while and prepare her for when I return to work in April. What pumps and bottles are you using?

tattyblue · 26/11/2014 09:29

Thank you all for the encouragement. I don't know why I'm suddenly doubting myself so much. I feel like things are going to be loads easier when she's properly smiling, so that I'll be able to tell what actually makes her happy, as opposed to just what doesn't make her cross. Coaxing the little human out of the high stakes tamagotchi is hard work.

Going to get her weighed today- due to various confusions she hasn't been weighed for a while, but I'm quite excited because I'm fairly sure that's the one thing I've got unequivocally right- my tiny baby has sailed right on through newborn clothes and is nearly in 0-3 months.

Kirstipops · 26/11/2014 10:25

kitty I have the Medela Swing pump and Tommy Tippee Closer to Nature bottles. I got the pump and the Tommy Tippee Newborn Starter set reduced from Amazon. The pump is expensive but it's quick which is ideal for me as I have to squeeze in pumping opportunities where I can!
Good luck with the weigh-in tatty!
