Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm glad I'm not the only one having cluster feeding issues. 3pm - 10.30pm last night, then awske at 1am, took me untol 2.30 to settle her, then up again at 4.10, and still awake.

She's also being sick quite a bit which I don't understand - this is a new thing. She's stuffing her face too much in my opinion.

I'm 'this' close to packing in breastfeeding. I'm currently sat here in a bed awash with leaking milk and milky sick, I stink of both those things the whole time, and I can hear my 'I think the best place for me right now (9pm) is bed, I'm so tired' boyfriend snoring away next door. If he hadn't been to his grans funeral yesterday I'd be in there getting him to change my sheets.

Errrr2012 · 25/11/2014 05:17

Another busy night here. My first full night totally solo as DH is away with work. Sod's law this is the first night when toddler develops a stinking cold so I've been up with him on n off since 8.30! Baby had left to cry downstairs while I sort ds out but fortunately she's slept through most of the night faffings. Bizaarly, I've actually had more sleep tonight than the last two combined so feel ok! Just wish toddler would sleep now instead of chatting to himself in the next room - it's 5am!!!!!!

Happytimes31 · 25/11/2014 06:08

I am expressing the boob that I have just fed from and the other one as well, hope that is right. Another three hour stretch of sleep so think that is six hours so far, wow, a first sort of routine night for us! For those experienced mums, I thinking of adopting a feeding routine of every three hours (start to start) next week, do I feed him if awake or wake him to feed even if no cues? Sometimes he can go four hours but other times it is 2 so wanting to start making things more even and doing a bit of a bedtime routine. Or is this impossible if EBF?

Baby did two four hour stretches and has gone back to sleep!

3 year old up every 2 hours with cold...

Well at least it wasn't both of them.

Captainmcgraw · 25/11/2014 07:40

Definitely want to keep bfeeding for ease of night times. My husband gets up for an hour to give him bottle in rocking chair (so he can rest baby's head against arm and therefor have a hand free to read on phone). I breastfeeding sitting slightly upright in bed and doze through it or wake up properly but have a free hand to read. Definitely think he gets the raw deal.

He doesn't tend to end up with milk sick all over him in quite the same way though it has to be said!

Littlefeet26 · 25/11/2014 08:16

I'm jealous of those of you who get a free hand while breastfeeding! Most of the time I have to use my free hand to stop my stupidly large boobs from suffocating DS! If I let go he gets a whole nose full of boob and clearly can't breathe. Gah. Would love neat, equal sized boobs with nipples in the same place both sides!! Maybe I'll put that on my christmas list...

fedupofrainydays · 25/11/2014 08:49

Every time I complain to DH he brings up the 'that's why I don't want to do it again' card. Kind of stuck because I do want a third but then DH def doesn't do maybe I should just moan more. He got to eat in peace, watch TV and go to bed at 10.30 whereas I'm walking round like a zombie covered in puke.

fatpony · 25/11/2014 09:07

Ha! Little M was gearing up for a whingefest about boob access just now. Decided to do his nappy first, put him on the mat with the hair dryer turned on him (on the warm setting) as the sitting room hadn't warmed up yet. The washing machine repair man arrived so went to sort him out and left hair dryer running. Came back to find M passed out in star shaped position, blissful smile on his chops. Have successfully transferred him to the toddlepod and I'm enjoying my cup of tea!

mrsb87 · 25/11/2014 09:09

goats I have bought those pads you put on toddler beds (for when they wet the bed) cut into squares and tucked under my book and over my arm. Catches the puke and you can just be bin it after.
Wow it's chilly today! Must remember to keep the burner topped up.

mrsb87 · 25/11/2014 09:13

Silly phone I hadn't finished!!
Wow fatpony! Sounds great! Impressive! Safer dylan's awful evening he slept 10:30 - 4:15. Dh gave him a bottle of expressed milk and then took ages to go back down. But he slept til 8:15 so not too shabby.

Errrr2012 · 25/11/2014 09:21

captain I feel your pain with poorly toddler. I had the same thought that at least they're not both poorly.

Me23 · 25/11/2014 10:11

munday v seems to have a good night followed by a bad one she hardly slept at all in the day yesterday then at night she did 1-4 and 4:45-6:30.

Even though she hardly slept at all yesterday she was an absolute delight With lots of smiles from her and she was so content and comfortable. I felt like we really turned a corner yesterday she wasn't screaming in pain, I didn't need to change her outfit once as she wasn't sick all day I felt so happy like this is what looking after a newborn should be of course she cried and moaned but normal amount for a baby not constantly like she has been doing everyday.

I felt truly happy for the first time since the birth like a fog had been lifted I think the fact my Bp is settling too is is helping. I even put make up on yesterday, I just feel different like I'm getting back to normal. I wonder if it could be hormonal as I got period yesterday.

Fingers crossed this continues and v's reflux continues to get better I hope yesterday wasn't just a fluke the gp did say that 6 weeks tends to be when they start improving, could he be that the gaviscon I didn't even want to try is actually working!

MundayCakes85 · 25/11/2014 10:32

Me lovely to hear you're starting to feel better and V is improving too. Let's hope things only get better from here.
We had lots of smiles and giggles too, although she was obviously over tired come 10pm as her crys were so sad. She finally gave in in the sling!

Me23, that's treat. Must really feel like you've turned a corner. Fingers crossed it continues!

M is still snoozing - the power of the hair dryer in getting them to sleep!

ohthegoats · 25/11/2014 11:18

I decided to stay in bed today. Pip usually feeds around 6 or 7, then sleeps at 9 again. This is when I'd normally have a bath, put washing in etc. I usually get an hour max. Today I tucked her up with me in bed and we've both just woken up. That's the best 2 hours sleep I've had since Saturday!

sazzlehopes · 25/11/2014 11:29

Goats sounds like bliss!

Fedup my OH has his first of THREE Xmas parties this Friday. I feel your pain. Angry

We've had A very odd nights after some great ones... N woke at 12 for a feed and then fussed and fussed and eventually went back to sleep at 2. He then woke again at 4 and then 6 both for feeding. He's being sick a lot more too the last 2 days which is annoying as I thought we'd nailed it. Like a lot of sick, not just a mouthful. He also seems so uncomfortable today with tummy trouble and then burping a and being sick or pooing. His poos are watery too Confused
yellow or anyone with the knowledge...how long does it take for something to affect breast milk? So if I had a soy latte yesterday morning, when will it affect Ned? I'm worried what is suddenly affecting him after we were doing so well...

FATEdestiny · 25/11/2014 12:26

8 weeks and DD just managed 11pm to 7am sleep. Whoop Whoop!

Breasts ready to pop this morning though. Full feed at 7am plus I expressed off 7oz immediately afterwards - a massive amount for me.

Breast Shells - someone mentioned earlier. Genius product! I collect up the milk and it gives me around 4oz throughout the day, which DH gives as a dream feed at 11pm. I believe that collected breastshell milk is the very reason I got a full night sleep last night. Plus don't have to deal with wet breastpads anymore. Love 'em!

YellowWellies · 25/11/2014 13:44

Sazzle anything from 1-24 hours, soy usually affects Lil 6-12 hours after. Soy milk and soy sauce cause the worst reaction for her. The vomming could be something else though - a cold can make them puke to clear mucus?

YellowWellies · 25/11/2014 13:58

But watery stinking poo, comfort feeding and being unsettled would make me think soy or dairy exposure if it were Lil. Maybe try koko or almond milk in coffee? 40% CMPI babies will react to soya.

FATEdestiny · 25/11/2014 14:03

how long does it take for something to affect breast milk?

Depends what it is. I was on antibiotics (penicillin) for 2 weeks before it started affecting breastmilk. DD had all of the symptoms you mentioned. She improved within 3 days of me finishing my course of antibiotics.

robindeer · 25/11/2014 14:10

Hi all, I've tracked you down after a long hiatus! My ds will be 5wks old tomorrow and is ebf. Is it even remotely possible that I have my period? Bright red blood today after a day of almost nothing. It's more likely just still a postnatal clear out isn't it?

I also have dry, flaky skin with small raw patches in the fold at the very top of my inner thigh. I have two theories- irritation from 5weeks of constantly wearing knickers and a pad, and/or having shaved the hair there for the first time in weeks. Do I wait til next week when I'm seeing the doctor anyway or should I get this checked out in case it's something else? I saw it and actually said aloud 'oh what fresh hell is this?'

Aren't these pregnancy/postnatal body changes magical?!

robindeer · 25/11/2014 14:14

Ooh! Can I also put in an honourable mention for my suspected piles, the stretchmarks wrapping all the way around my thighs and the inevitable sagging post bf?

It's a good job I adore my child...

ohthegoats · 25/11/2014 14:38

I got piles 2 weeks after birth - 5 days of cream and they went. Treat them early!

Wearing pads for almost a month was horrible, I hated it. Thought my period was back yesterday, but seems to have vanished again thank goodness. I'd just like a few weeks break from bleeding. Although at least can use tampons for a normal period.

I'm an inch away from my jeans - an inch of flabby gut. I reckon 10 days if I keep up the massive walking. Once I can stop wearing stripy sacks I'll feel more human. I've ordered an underwired nursing bra too.

ohthegoats · 25/11/2014 14:46

Does anyone know which shop's babygros are long in the leg? All the 10.5lb sleepsuits from mothercare or m and s or john lewis are too short in the leg, but 0-3 months are MASSIVE. My long legged freaky child has got 2 things that fit. I can't be arsed with separates.
