Oh yeah Life after Life was a great book. I'm struggling to read during feeds as little miss objects to my attention being on my kindle instead of her gorgeous face!!

Yellow your poonami wishes came true. Just got back from my night out and she pooed everywhere. Even got on his favourite jeans. She's actually never done that to me yet so it's got to be your pooey vibes :)

Missus2ndwife · 24/11/2014 00:00

Quality Pebble. Sounds like Karma to me ;0)

pebble82 · 24/11/2014 00:08

On the book front I just finished The Island by Victoria Hislop. It's a very popular book so you may have already read it.

Other recent good reads of mine (but also well known) are:
The Shadow of the Wind
The Book Thief
The hundred year old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared
Gone girl
When god was a rabbit
A street cat named bob (non fiction)

YellowWellies · 24/11/2014 00:19

Pebble I hope you told him to put a wash on! Smile

ohthegoats · 24/11/2014 01:31

Wind? I was too scared to put her back in the crib - so far tonight she's been on me. Where she's farted like a trooper - possibly the result of that painful wind. Probably something I've eaten I guess.

In terms of books, I loved 'life after life' too, also 'the age of miracles', 'the rosie projecr', 'the uncommon reader'.

Sorehead · 24/11/2014 02:12

pebble- that's excellent Grin yellow must have super powers (as well as being CMPI/ reflux queen!)

Ignoring pebble's DH (who deserved it Wink), don't you just hate the telltale smell of a poo filled nappy at 2am?

Happytimes31 · 24/11/2014 02:27

'Sore' I've just done one! Bad nappy rash here Sad but seems to be caused by wee. Been v good about cleaning and drying and sudocrem cream so not sure how it has happened, now switched to 'metanium daily' so will see if that works, anyone got any other suggestions or preventative thoughts? Doing nappy off time too but that often results in more wee and sometimes poo!
Thanks 'missus' so maybe I do just get the bottle person to give as much as he wants to eat then!

ExcitedCJ · 24/11/2014 02:44

Happy try Weleda Calendula nappy cream. You can get it in Boots. Worked wondered for my DD on everything wet & rash related. Eg. Nappy rash, sore bits behind ears & under chin from dribble when teething. Has also done the trick with DS, although I also changed to sensitive baby wipes.

ExcitedCJ · 24/11/2014 02:56

Yay! Baby B had had a falling out with my right boob at dinner time Saturday & has been in a huff with it since. He seems to have gotten over his issues & they are pals again!
When we have a Poonami it is a thing to behold, my wee man only poos every 4 days or so. I have managed to catch the early warning signs for the last 2 & evacuated the area but Woweee, it just keeps coming in waves for about 5 minutes. We generally use at least 2 or 3 nappies per one poo.

Missus2ndwife · 24/11/2014 03:16

We loved The Island by Victoria Hislop! So much so we visited Spinalonga in August this year. I was having my own pregnancy growth spurt.. It was blistering hot and hubby was making me walk around this desolate island that has no shade... We nearly got a divorce! Grin

Read Gone Girl on Honeymoon last year. It was excellent!! And
The Rosie Project was fun.

Alas this year I've only been able to read trash. My mind hasn't been able to cope with anything too thought provoking.

For Nappy Rash also try Waitrose Botty Butter (I have Calendula too but haven't used it yet).

How long would infant gaviscon take to work to solve a silent reflux issue? I know from reading on here that it's not likely to.

Also, has anyone noticed it worsening some of the symptoms, namely the choking noises, and causing an increase in grunting?

RudyTuesday · 24/11/2014 06:49

Out of interest, what state will my boobs be in once bf is over with?

mrsb87 · 24/11/2014 06:57

sore it didn't work for us because he just couldn't keep it down long enough to work.
Oh when will this madness end!? He was really struggling with wind last night, we just couldn't get it out and he was so upset. Any tips? He was constantly falling asleep on the boob and the second I moved him he woke up again. So much crying Sad
for those of you struggling with wind do you always burp, even if they have fallen asleep? If you do burp do you struggle to get them back down again?

binkybunny · 24/11/2014 07:37

goats how old is your lg? Issy seems to have learnt this ear piercing scream too, she's not done it in her crib but if we remove the bottle to wind her/ move position or its empty she screams. It terrified me the first time, she's 5 weeks now.

I'm sure she dreams too, her eyes will be moving under her eyelids and her expression will change and make little noises. it's so cute,Luke a puppy dreaming! The process everything they see and hear in their sleep, so I guess they do dream about it.

pebble82 · 24/11/2014 08:27

Mrsb I tend to burp DD after she's drifted off and finished with boob no.1. It doesn't always produce a burp though, I'm probably not very good at it. As she's usually more awake now I offer boob no.2 which she usually latches onto but it takes less time for her to fall off asleep. When she does I put her upright on my shoulder for roughly 10-15 mins. Helps her milk go down. She'll then fall into a deeper sleep and be put down. That's in theory anyway. Doesn't always work. Particularly in the day she just knows as soon as her head hits a mattress!

fedupofrainydays · 24/11/2014 08:46

Like deflated balloons rudy Grin

Wind issues - have you tried massaging feet? It's a reflexology point and cab help get it out. I think gripe water works too.

Not the best night here but feeling but more human after a coffee. Ds1 goes for his first pre school swim lesson today and he dances into our room this morning "I'm going to go on the big diving board" Grin knowing him he probably will

Happytimes31 · 24/11/2014 08:49

pebble same here although totally failed last half of last night and he stayed in our bed Smile bad but lovely.

fedupofrainydays · 24/11/2014 09:07

Quick question - those of you bf and get oh to do an expressed bottle at evening / night - how much do you put in the bottle?

mrsb87 · 24/11/2014 09:53

Dylan easily guzzles 150ml fedup.

I'm going to mention (again!!) About this tongue tie at my 6 week check today. Still lots of wind and lots of sick. I'm getting fed up of being fobbed off.
Are there any video's of the massage techniques?

YellowWellies · 24/11/2014 10:14

Mrsb tell them the pain is making you want to give up BF (that's the magic phrase) and that seems ridiculous over a procedure that takes seconds - demand a referral today. If you're told the TT does not look big enough to cause a problem, tell them, respectfully, its easy to say that when its not your nipples. Search YouTube for baby massage wind relief - there's loads of videos Smile

I can't believe Lil is 2 months tomorrow. She's so chatty and awake now. She was cooing and gooing and giving chatty smiles for half an hour at 4am Envy

Increased straining after gaviscon sounds like constipation perhaps - its a common side effect. Ask for lactulose to soften stools or to be changed to ranitidine. Lil is still refluxing occasionally on ranitidine, say if I eat something with milk or soy traces but without the acidity it doesn't bother her. So different this time by sorting it early. Though if the problem is CMPI then no amount of any reflux meds will work if the baby is still being exposed to dairy, and for some, soya.

I wind without waking by letting her snooze upright, head on my shoulder, then supporting her head I bend forwards and backwards slowly from my waist - it works like magic. But every baby is different and finding their winding 'sweetspot' can be a real bugger!

Me23 · 24/11/2014 10:15

Just managed to grab a shower as v still asleep from school run (even a managed to shave my legs dp will be shocked!)

pebble just read about your OH I really think you should talk to him about it if you don't then he will think it's acceptable and it really isn't, I don't know about everyone else's dp's bit mine wouldn't dream of going on Xbox all day then going to sleep without helping. I see also you said you wrote him a letter while pregnant but it was never discussed? Why? Are you worried about confronting him? Sorry to be so nosy I just hate to think of a new mum feeling so alone especially after all you have been through worth Lo, some people really need things spelled out for them otherwise they think everything is ok. I know dp can totally misread my moods and feelings sometimes so I have to be direct with him.

V slept 10-2 then 4-7 I don't mind the waking I just wish she wasn't up for 2 hours when she does wake in night.

sazzlehopes · 24/11/2014 10:19

Kirsti I too am horrid fart monster since birth.

Captain I didn't like gone girl thought the ending was crap and didn't give a hoot about the characters... Halfway through the goldfinch though and enjoying that...

Nappy rash we like green people - completely natural and good for pretty much anything a bit poorly on baby, toddler or me. Amazing stuff and made in the UK!

Goats, Ned does this a lot. I find it really upsetting as to me it looks like he's dreaming and I worry he's remebering his awful entry into life and his first week in special care... Sad
