Ok I saw best gp in practice we compromised on trial of gaviscon for a week if it hasn't improved then ranitidine. She took concerns seriously but wants to give it a try a it does work with some babies so that's fair enough I think. Also my dose of Bp meds has been cut dramatically from 400 x3 a day to 200 x day feeling scared Bp will spike again fingers crossed weaning off will work this time.

BettyJudy · 21/11/2014 11:53

Hello, may I join the thread?

DD born 6th Oct, and been lurking a while.

Found it so so helpful and informative reading everyones posts. Particularly enjoy Goats' writing style; you could write for a magazine column or in some kind of official capacity, I think Goats!

Re; bath product query, I'm using bubble bath, body butter and botty butter from the wairose range. As recommended by beauty blogger extrodinaire Caroline Hirons. Contains no sulphates, paranens, or other chemical nasties. Works for us so far and smells gorgeous ??

mrsb87 · 21/11/2014 12:18

betty that bottom butter is awesome! That's what we use as there isn't a lot else you can use with cloth nappies.
goats enjoy your swim!
Fingers crossed the gaviscon works for you me I hope you find it easier to get on with than we did!
So hungry, Dylan has been crying near enough non stop all day. Apart from while we were out of a walk, the second we got home though he was awake again.

tattyblue · 21/11/2014 12:21

Oh- that reminds me, cloth nappies. We want to start using these in the next month or so, but I have absolutely no idea where to begin. There's a nappy library in the area which I'm going to contact as soon as this week is over and I have a bit more time (still have work to do atm, when the baby sleeps), but does anyone have any advice? Kinds, makes? We don't have masses of cash but there's some set aside for this as it'll save us in the long run/I feel strongly about it.

FATEdestiny · 21/11/2014 12:46

Tatty. I used cloth nappies for my firstborn. She's 10 now so don't have up to date knowledge of brands. I never bothered using them with my subsequent 3 children since they were far, far too much hassle. So mine are still in the loft. That's not to say it will be less hassle for you.

My biggest recommendation would be to buy a tumble drier if you don't own one already.

mrsb87 · 21/11/2014 12:47

Start at the nappy library as you can hire a kit quite cheaply and it'll have different brands for you to try and a mixture of all in ones, pockets and 2 part systems. We're using a bit of a mixture at the moment of totsbots easyfits, bumgenius freetimes, lollipop fluffies and bamboozles at night. Are you on Facebook tatty?

mrsb87 · 21/11/2014 12:50

Cloth nappies are a lot easier these days fate, no soaking in map is an etc. Even my husband likes using them now and he was dead against it to start off with!

ohthegoats · 21/11/2014 12:53

Swimming was ace - she grinned like a loon the whole way through apart from a 1 second shout after she came up from underwater. She's knackered now though - proper floppy out of it.

tattyblue · 21/11/2014 12:56

We've got a tumble drier. Also, even when mat leave is over I work from home half the week and boyfriend works from home all the time so we figure the extra washing isn't going to be too much of a hassle.

I am on facebook, and part of the facebook group although I don't think my name is on the list.

mrsb87 · 21/11/2014 13:02

Message me and I can try and add you to a few groups if you like?

tattyblue · 21/11/2014 13:06

That would be lovely! Thank you.

STIGZ · 21/11/2014 13:15

Think i have hit the 6 week growth spurt, although she has done plenty of growing up until now, she's 9lbs 5 now and was 6lbs12 at birthShock my wee porky puddingGrin

Me23 · 21/11/2014 13:39

Aww stigz v is very similar weight gain is 6 weeks today was 6lb 9 at birth and yesterday was 9lb 4.

mrs hae u had 6 week check? How is your Bp now are u off meds?

pebble82 · 21/11/2014 13:46

Argh, my bleeding has got really bad again today. Anyone else had this? Don't know if I should be worried.

Kirstipops · 21/11/2014 14:04

I have Bumgenius nappies for day and bamboozles for night, but her legs are too skinny for Bumgenius ones still! Didn't think a wee person derived from me or DH would ever have skinny pins! A combo of muslins and Rikki wraps and Naty disposables in use til then. Apparently the Naty ones are compostable, sorely tempted to try and grow a tree from them, what a nice anecdote to gleefully tell my daughter's friends in the future Grin

Littlefeet26 · 21/11/2014 14:13

Goats how old was your little one when you started going swimming? R is 4 weeks today and I'm dying to take him but think it might be too soon. Am hoping my local pool isn't going to be too cold for him!

STIGZ · 21/11/2014 15:03

pebble i am getting fresh blood, im 6 weeks postpartum today, it has been off & on for a couple weeks, not alot but just when i wipe? Im at the doctors next friday, and will deffo discuss the reason for this? Although it does coincide with the days i walk alot? How many weeks postpartum are you ? Im getting worried also as im now approaching week 7Confused been on dr google and freaked myself out as usual!

Aww me i love when they start getting chubby and cuddly... They dont seem as fragileSmile.

Jealous of all your wee water babies, i am not going to attempt swimmimg with a newborn and a four year old, i couldnt cope with the stress of getting out of the pool and getting changed.

ohthegoats · 21/11/2014 15:08

Littlefeet - Waterbabies will take them from birth pretty much, so long as there is an adult who can get in with them - I had to wait until I stopped bleeding (which coincided with a new term). They hold lessons in hydrotherapy pools at special schools, so the temperatures are warmer. Lessons are only half an hour so the babies don't have long enough to get cold. Pip is 5 weeks and 4 days today, she was the youngest there by 4 or 5 weeks.

ohthegoats · 21/11/2014 15:12

it does coincide with the days i walk a lot

Mine did that too - it had mostly stopped by 4 weeks, but sort of limped on a bit for a week or so - only when I wiped, and not sanitary towel worthy, but sometimes randomly quite red. Definitely worse on the days I walked a long way. I think it must be over now - I've been walking a LOT this week, two days in a row I did more than 8 miles, and no sign of any blood. To be honest, in the discharge department it feels like ovulation goo - if my periods come back in a fortnight, only 8 weeks after having a baby, and breastfeeding, I'll feel ripped off!!

I just looked at the photos the doula took in the delivery room - there's blood and everything in them. Too. Soon. Urgh.

mrsb87 · 21/11/2014 15:59

Ah kirsty Dylan is a bit of a porker so has fitted most btp styles well! The last ones he fitted in are the cheapy pocket nappies but he's in those now too.
me I have my 6 week check on Monday so fingers crossed all okay.
I can't wait to start water babies next Sunday. I really hope he loves it!

Pregnantagain7 · 21/11/2014 16:30

Hey all hope everyone's doing ok. My birthday took a nosedive yesterday I bump dps car and the cat shit on my bed not one of my best birthdays!

Any of you with older boy children can you tell me when they get a bit easier?! Ds1 is 14 months and he is on a one man mission to destroy the house, his hobby is emptying cupboards if he's not doing that he is trying to kill himself or the dogs. I found him playing in a bowl of dog food with aplastic knife and fork I don't think he ate any Hmm

A bit later I found him lay in the dogs bed with our English bull terrier. He is absolutely exhausting at the mo please someone tell me they get easier?!

I'm going to the trafford centre shopping tonight oooh get me like a proper grown up on my own and everything!! Grin

ohthegoats · 21/11/2014 16:53

MrsB - out of 12 babies I saw at swimming today, 11 were loving it - grinning all over their faces, 1 was screaming. She screamed the whole way through, and was still screaming when I saw her mum putting her in the car afterwards. So, good chance he'll love it.

mrsb87 · 21/11/2014 16:54

.....I used to get in the dog's crates with them when I was little.....

binkybunny · 21/11/2014 17:09

I have taken my maternity pad off for the first time today, whoop whoop! only things is anaesthetic gel I need to use down there is a bit yuck but I was getting so sore from wearing pads it's worth it. Hope the bleeding doesn't reappear like others, I have a pack on hand just in case.

Can't remember who said about waterbabies, but check your local branch. Ours is from 12 weeks or 12 lbs and Issy is only 4+5 and 10lbs so we can't start until the February term. Hoping to give Turtle Tots a go, but the info they have sent me is for a pool 1 1/2 hours drive away, not the local one I enquired about Hmm Cant wait to get her in the pool, she loves her baths Smile

Me23 · 21/11/2014 17:10

Those using gaviscon how many times a day are you using it? I was told twice a day but saw on instructions it can e given 6 times a day. I wonder if twice will be enough? I'm mixing it into a bottle she took it fine earlier but still was very sick.
