Those of you with a sleepyhead can I ask whether it fits in a crib or is it too big? I can't tell from the pictures. Also does anyone have it in their bed with them? I'm weighing up the cost versus the possibility of getting more than 4 hours sleep a night! DS sleeps beautifully on my chest but the second I transfer him he makes the most awful grunting/straining noises and nine times out of ten wakes himself up within 5 mins! We already ditched the swinging crib we had and bought a chicco next to you crib after 2 nights because he wouldn't go down full stop in the swinging crib. I'd just like a tiny bit more sleep!!

Missus2ndwife · 19/11/2014 17:17

Just catching up on everyones posts now.
We had a good night: slept (mostly in my arms or on chest) from 10.30pm - 2.30am and then in bed 3.30-5.45am.

Our piglet is now 4.5kgs/ 9lbs 13 vs
Birth weight a month ago was 7lbs 4
I can't believe how big he's got already, he's practically grown up now hahaha and hubby is already talking next baby (eek!)

sazzlehopes · 19/11/2014 17:51

I feel so much better knowing that you all let your lo sleep in your arms/on your chest at night. I do too. And I'm also not looking at a routine yet. N will be 7 weeks on Saturday. I can't remember when we did ds1, sure IT happened naturally...

Fedup my ds1 didn't smile until 10 weeks I think, it almost pushed me over the dge waiting!!! This time however I've been rewarded with a few earlier at 6 weeks.

littlefeet we have the same thing. N did a
Five hour stretch last night but on my chest, if I transfer I get snorting and grunting etc and he normally wakes after about 20 mins. He's much happier on his side or front so since we bought the anglecare monitor I need to see if he'd rather sleep on his front in the bedside crib...now I know it'll detect if he stops breathing.

Hello there, it's nice to see you guys have been keeping up the chat. I'm a bit late to the party! Hope all the births & post births were a bit better than mine. Only feeling up for the chat now & wasnt out of hospital for a few weeks & then moved house to other end of the country!!
Fill me in on anything I've missed & I'll take some time when night feeding to catch up. Xxx

mrsb87 · 19/11/2014 19:42

We've all been wondering about you cj! How are you getting on? Hope the house move went well x

Captainmcgraw · 19/11/2014 20:21

Lovely to see you back here CJ!

Sleepyhead question (sorry not sure who asked and too much hassle scrolling back on phone) - we have it between us in bed but we have a super king size and I think there wouldn't be enough space in a standard double. It would easily fit in a cot but not sure about crib - depends on size.

Well DS is certainly raising the bar with naps. This afternoon wouldn't sleep unless in sling with dummy in and me bouncing on my pregnancy gym ball. This won't be happening when I have DD as well for next two days...

pebble82 · 19/11/2014 20:25

Argh, I'm bleeding quite a bit again. Health visitor warned me this would happen if I didn't rest. It's so boring recovering slowly!!

kittyvet · 19/11/2014 20:40

Amazed you lot keeping up the chat on here! This is the first time since I was in hosp I've had chance to look in! Will try to lurk a bit more and make the occaisional post! Hey! We made it into parenthood!

YellowWellies · 19/11/2014 20:49

Little feet the Sleepyhead fits perfectly in our bednest, you could get it in a king size bed but it'd be a bit snug.

CJ, Kitty lovely to see you! Thanks

ohthegoats · 19/11/2014 21:39

It's tight in a king sized bed, but it fits fine in a little crib I got from mothercare for 40 quid.

I'm being irritated by boyfriend again - I've held pip all day in one way or another - sling, carrier (walked 8 miles today), one handed eating with her on my lap, cinema with her on my lap etc, he comes home from work, complains that he's tired and 'fighting something off', has her for 10 minutes until she cries, then puts her on a beanbag screaming until I pick her up and deal with her. Now he's gone to bed, so I'll get no downtime to even clean my teeth and get changed for bed etc. He's been 'fighting something off' for what seems like months ffs. He's stressed atm, but doesn't do anything to help himself, like get fresh air or do some exercise. Raah.

I think they think being home all day with a baby is easy - I have to leave her with him all day really soon.

popsicle123 · 19/11/2014 21:54

Hi can I join please? My little girl was born on the 8th October. It would be nice to chat to other mamas in the same boat!

Missus2ndwife · 19/11/2014 21:56

Baby has been awake since 6pm. Send help.

fedupofrainydays · 19/11/2014 21:59

goats they really don't realise how relentless jt is. We just need 30 mins or 300 mins to ourselves sometimes and they don't get it!!

My DH is also "ill" so has gone to bed already - man flu

ohthegoats · 19/11/2014 22:00

Missus, mine has been awake since 5 - that's pretty normal. Try a sling? That's my default option when I've had enough.

fedupofrainydays · 19/11/2014 22:02

Omg cj!! I've been so worried about you!! Last we heard was you were being kept in hospital with pre eclampsia. So glad you are ok and welcome back!

ExcitedCJ · 19/11/2014 22:02

Aaahh, you guys. Feels like I've come home. Bit emotional. :)

fedupofrainydays · 19/11/2014 22:09

Thanks for the comments about smiles too. I'm less worried now. DH says he can remember first smile he had from ds1 at 8 weeks and said he didn't smile mich after that. He's now never stops smiling... Even when he's crying!! So trying not to worry as R is 9 weeks now so just 5.5 adjusted. He's looking at me a lot more now too which is reassuring.

ExcitedCJ · 19/11/2014 22:11

Oh fedup, thank you for your concern, sorry to worry you.
I had a really tough time & after a bad day when I had a high BP seizure I just couldn't compute speaking to anyone. All healthy now & back to normal for the timebeing, although they reckon I will develop type 1 diabetes. This childbirth stuff is hardcore. :)
Look forward to hearing about everyone's babies. How they are sleeping or not as the case may be.

Pregnantagain7 · 19/11/2014 22:23

cj you're back hurray! Glad to hear you're feeling better :)

Welcome popsicle pull up a chair

Glad to hear some people are getting longer stretches of sleep. Ive been to fat club tonight it's really sad but actually quite looking forward to an hour and half to myself even if it is a diet club.

We've had a shit couple of weeks as a family last week my uncle had 5 heart attacks he survived but they were concerned about brain damage because he was without oxygen for about ten minutes.
Today they suggested we withdraw support as the brain damage is so severe he will have no quality of life so very very sad he is only 57 :(
It's my birthday tomorrow but decided not to bother this year doesn't feel right.

Missus2ndwife · 19/11/2014 22:23

Goats I've ordered a Close Caboo for this exact purpose. Rocked him for 30mins, eyes kept closing and then he started laughing. Cheeky sod.
Fed him again and now he's conked out on my chest.

Aaaarrrggghhhh

Ps welcome back CJ :)

Missus2ndwife · 19/11/2014 22:31

Right ladies - talk to me about the Sleepyhead!! My mate a non MN has just suggested I get one.
What's the diff with the grand deluxe?

ExcitedCJ · 19/11/2014 22:37

Oh Pregnant I'm sorry you are having an awful time. Sad news about your uncle.
A tiny little happy birthday for tomorrow, it is my birthday too. Cake for both of us. Big hugs. X

YellowWellies · 19/11/2014 22:44

Argh no CJ I'm still waiting on the results of my post natal GTT. Apparently by having diabetes in pregnancy there's a 50% chance of developing type 2 (is it type 2 or 1?) in 10 years. Have you had your GTT?

Goats that is my pet hate - those nights where there's no one to hold baby so you can go to the bathroom before bed. Its only happened one night here when DH was travelling with work, but next week he's got an awards dinner so I'm doing both bedtimes solo. What's the betting Lil gets loud when I'm trying to tuck Jonas into bed, or when I'm dashing round the bedroom trying to undress going "sssssh don't wake your brother". Its bad when there's no one there but I'd be waking him up to hold an infant if he was home but had clocked off due to man flu. After pregnancy I'm a much worse nurse I just want to tell him to " woman up" Smile .

ohthegoats · 19/11/2014 22:47

Missus - once she's in the soing, screaming or calm, I just close the top over her head and ignore her. Usually takes less than a minute for her to go to sleep - but I have to keep moving, jiggling on the spot isn't enough, walking is best, walking up and down stairs even better for emergencies.

Sleepyhead is just ace. I saw it in John Lewis when I was about 20 weeks pregnant, compared it to mattresses for cribs and moses baskets, did some reading on here then ordered it as my first main purchase. Judging by how little my baby will sleep anywhere else (ie, not), it's been a godsend. We've had relatively easy nights since the beginning.

Sorehead · 19/11/2014 22:47

Happy birthday for tomorrow to pregnant and excited Have some Cake and Wine

Having a "woe is me" evening here- I know I'm probably being really stupid but I feel like DS prefers DH to me. DH sits DS on his lap and DS stares at him fascinated whilst he makes funny faces but never really does the same with me and prefers to look over my shoulder into the distance. Feels like the only time he looks at me is when I'm feeding him. I thought it was only dads who are meant to feel like this- I feel like such a bad mother at the moment, which i know is stupid well I hope it is anyway
