Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
skibump · 08/02/2007 21:15

Astro, I knew you must be a Cat! Salad sounds good, I'll try that sometime

UniSarah · 08/02/2007 21:16

Cabbage suprise- the surprise is...its cabbage!

1 oz rice cooked. ( AC says brown I used basmati). some finely shredded cooked cabbage shaken in some butter or oil ( AC says 3oz cabbage, I think I used a bit more) some tomato stuff - I used 3 ice cubes of my tomato and herb sause (AC says 1 tom de seed and skined chopped and sauted) some cheddar chese grated. (AC says 2 oz) Mix together while cooked things are hot and stir on low heat to melt chese.

It was remarkabley nice. I think I may use it as a stuffed pepper filling at some point.
AC = annabel carmel , author of a baby and toddler cookbook and menu planners. I have the book ( swapped it for a bookcase) but don;t use teh menu planners- far to fussy for my liking. I really don;t see the need to give him endless variety at every meal time, Boy seems fine on the same breakfast every day just like DH and i have the same breakfast every day.
So lots of snow for many of you. are there any londoners left on this thread or are we all northern, Very southern or out of the Uk?

Frizbe · 08/02/2007 21:46

Hi Astro, glad you and dd enjoyed the snow, see there are some benifits to living here did ds enjoy his afternoon at friends?
I never knew you could do so much with cabbage, but that salad sounds lovely Astro! (or maybe I just never botherd to do that much with cabbage!)

laundrylover · 08/02/2007 22:34

No cabbage or snow here so feeling a bit left out.

However with an ironic twist we are off to Cardiff tomorrow so heading into the worst of the weather. It's my brother's wedding on Sat and the girls are bridesmaids....will let you know how it goes on Monday.

Have jolly weekends all!

Astrophe · 09/02/2007 13:43

Hey Friz, would you mind applying your knowledge of toy retailing to my thread here ?

Thanks!

Frizbe · 09/02/2007 20:25

Astro No need I see you've been sorted
So how much snow are we Derbyshire lasses (honary ones too ) sinking under now, lots!!!
LL, I think your going to have fun getting to Cardiff, I hear they've opened up all sorts of emergency centres in the W.Mids for people stranded in the snow....

UniSarah · 09/02/2007 22:36

good luck getting to Cardiff- or is it Car-drift now.

Frizbe · 09/02/2007 22:49

Uni, think the M6 is the same, its normally a car park anyway, twice as bad today I'm guessing.

UniSarah · 11/02/2007 12:31

soggy soggy, lots of rain here last 2 days. at last we now have a dry clear sky so I've got washing out on the line again. Hurrah for windy sunny sundays.
I will be keeping an eye out for showers tho.
DH is cooking a roast, think boy may have just woken up so looks like we are on for a family sunday dinner. gotta go and lay table and get boy up.

skibump · 11/02/2007 13:39

Uni, at cabbage surprise - sounds like the surprise was it was really nice I'll give that a go, sounds like the sort of thing ds would approve of, and we can both have it which is always a bonus.

4 teeth here now. middle bottom one, then the one next to it, then the equivalent on the other side, now the other middle one Not exactly by the book, no change there He bit my finger earlier today which made me yell, of course he thought that was hilarious. Will have to put a stop to that

LL how was the trip?

Astrophe · 11/02/2007 21:12

Sorry Uni, no noodles in the mail yet as I had a migraine all Friday and Sat..will attempt to post Mon or Tue.

DS is also going to for 'Irregular Aquisition of Teeth Award' - he now has one top middle one, then a space and then another top one...no bottom ones at all yet!

Frizbe · 12/02/2007 22:15

No teeth here still, I feel we may get them all in one go ohhhh how I love sleepless nights......
So how is everyone today, with all this cabbage do you all have smelly bottoms

Frizbe · 12/02/2007 23:16

How's about here for a meet up (the one in Buxton Busy Bees!) busybees

Frizbe · 13/02/2007 15:59

Hi all, am I talking to myself again where is everyone! doing rl eh!
LL I've ordered some clearsprings liquid today from our local farm shop, it'll be in next week with their suma delivery tried some yummy beans in batter as well (think they were mungbeans) better not eat too many tho, as sure the batter isn't dietry!!

UniSarah · 13/02/2007 16:32

fart central round here- not just the cabbage, its brassica season, so sprouts and cauliflower as well! Tho last night I had pasty, chips and roast parsnips.
We are getting bettter at hand overs. Dh came home at 5.40ish, I went out to running at 5.55 leaving dh to give boy tea, came home at 7.15, dh out the door for cricket nets at 7.25. boy bathed and in bed before 8pm.

Boy is back in bed for a 2nd nap, hope it improves his temper. tis piss wet here this afternoon, started just as I picked boy up from CM, I was soaked by time I got home. Boy was nice and snug and dry in his trailer tho. Huum, not sure hes asleep, maybe he's had a micro nap, will leave him be and see what happens,

Astrophe · 13/02/2007 19:19

uni - noodles in the post today

Friz, Busy Bees looks good

Hi everyone else

UniSarah · 13/02/2007 21:36

thanks astro- I'll try not to squash them by stepping on them as I open the door! far to much of our post ends up with a muddy boot print on thanks to that habit.
It was a micro nap, and boy was V cross by the time I went in to find him stood up in cot howling.
however all seemed better after a bit of a cuddle and play. I mad swede p[anckes for boys tea today- mashed swede, plain flour and beaten egg, fried in dollops like drop scones. went down OK. Isn't it slooooow when they feed themself tho.

Frizbe · 13/02/2007 22:24

Uni sometimes they're slow when they feed themselves, I've found it depends how starving they are, example went out for lunch at playcentre last thurs, by time lunch arrived dd2 had walloped down two jam sarnies, before dd1 had eaten one, much to all the other mothers shock (and mine too ) lots of nice comments like, I wish my kids would eat like yours, to be honest I can only think she eats this fast as she's bottom of the pile, and its the only sure fire way of getting the food she wants before ss or dd1 on the other hand sometimes like today, she was having a spitty day and everything went in, swilled around and came flying out again, so she could gague the effect on me and the surrounding area with a big .....we have also developed the naughty poof this week, for her, when she insists on tugging the curtains, which is a big nono, dd1 has already had them off the wall once, I'm not waiting for dd2 to do it, so far its working, I now only have to count to 2 and she stops dead in her tracks and moves away and that's after two small goes at being taken to sit on the poof, with mummy saying nono, waggling finger and head like a mad woman

OMG what an essay, sorry girls!!
Astro, cool, lets hope LL and anyone else who wants to come likes it too!

laundrylover · 14/02/2007 11:21

Just a quick hello as kids are playing up, have had a quick catch up but no time to reply about teeth, farts, eating etc.

Wedding was great and kids looked divine all dressed up (will bring some pics to the meet up if you remind me). Took 8 hours to get to Cardiff as we rather stupidly went to Malvern for lunch and got snowed in.

Busy Bees looks like fun -let's try and get a date but may be a bit of a pain as completing on the new house on Monday and then it's all systems go!!!!!

Frizbe · 14/02/2007 19:42

LL we'll work around you for dates then shall we!
Happy Valentines Day all
off to pics so catch you all tomorrow.

laundrylover · 15/02/2007 10:40

Friz, what did you see at the pics?

I can't remember which days we said were best for the meet up but the week beginning March 5th is good for me. Mon, Tues or Friday are best.....

Frizbe · 16/02/2007 08:16

OK LL will check my diary and get back to you re dates!
We attempted to see Hot Fuzz, but it was sold out along with everything else until the really late showings! damn valentines day.....we go everyother wed usually and no probs getting in, bah! so ended up at Blockbuster getting out Talladega Nights and Lucky Number Slevin

(we still haven't watched the latter and it has to be back tonight!) ho hum.......

So what you all doing for the weekend then?

laundrylover · 16/02/2007 10:10

We have friends coming up sat night who we picked up hitch hiking in NZ many years ago! Looking forward to a good catch up as we don't see them very often. Also buying curtain material...

Kiah has the lurgy. My brother's toddler is staying up here at my mum's whilst they are on honeymoon and she has been poorly all week. Now my mum is in bed, which is unheard of, and Kiah has been up all night with a raging temperature.....who'll be next?????

Hope you are all lurgy free.

Frizbe · 16/02/2007 12:41

Oh no! boooo for lurgy....we have snot and cougly hs but nothing major.
Hurrah for friends its so nice when you get chance to catch up, was hoping to see my cousin this week, but she understandably can't bring herself to come round and see the kids as well and we have no one to get rid of them too at the mo, so will have to wait a while to see her, hopefully when she moves house soon we'll be able to persuade my folkes to have the kids so we can go down (only having one set of gp's is a pain sometimes)

UniSarah · 16/02/2007 21:10

boo for not getting in to see hot fuzz,Dh & I want to see that one too. unlikely we will catch it at cinema, but maybe on DVD later... We are enjoying a christmas present of DVD rental by post at teh mo ( till end of march) so have been catching up on some films I liked way back or never got to see more rcently.

Shall we do a new thread at the start of march? mark those 1st birthdays with a new one?
