Ok girls here it is!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
laundrylover · 28/01/2007 11:47

Just a quick hello to keep this thread in my active threads!

Hope you're all well....

Caddy it would be great if you met up with us!!! Lets' get something sorted....

Frizbe · 28/01/2007 13:37

'whispers' LL just add this thread to your watched threads, then you can just click there to find us! if you click reset watch after your last post, you only see what's been written since you last posted! makes life lots easier
Astro, nice thought, but I ended up fielding them whilst he chatted! followed by taking them out for a walk for a bit, then they ate and went to bed!
We've not gone to chatsworth today as dd2 is poorly had trots all day yesterday, and still got them this am but is drinking those horrible re hydration sachets so I'm not too worried! just wants lots of cuddles, so dh is doing the biz at the mo as I need a break!
Caddy do you think you could do that? really?! would be great to meet!
Soooooo where can we meet indoors then? should we do a shopping thing, or should we google soft play between Derby and Mancs??

laundrylover · 28/01/2007 22:20

I know Friz, I do that too but I always go to 'threads I'm on' first! Hope the squits are over....

I would prefer indoor play as do not get on well with shopping malls, being a fat, hippy type! I could brave one though if needed!

My hard line on nappies.....will have a rant this week when I'm bored of my HUGE bid that I'm writing.

Frizbe · 29/01/2007 10:41

dd2 is feeling better here today too thank goodness, didn't want another day with a clingy baby if I can help it! wouldn't be getting any work done if that were the case
Just had an email from some tennants saying they've left, a friend will handover the keys on thurs and I can keep the deposit dreading the state of the house now/the unpaid utility bills to deal with no doubt.......really hoping not as they have been great tennants upto now, but they're leaving the country so?
I shall google away then LL

laundrylover · 30/01/2007 10:45

Oh no Friz, what a bad way to leave a house! Atleast you have their deposit. We too are having letting problems - having found theperfect tenants we got our mortgage offer through which says 'no DSS'!! OUr friends pay most of the rent through Housing Benefit, which suits us fine but it seems like the Building Society won't budge....I find it very discrimatory, like saying all DSS claimants are going to trash your house. We found all this out yesterday and DP and I spent all day sniping at each other and the kids.

Glad DD2 has left your leg.....Kiah has a bad cold that makes her cough and puke in the night. Roll on summer!

Frizbe · 30/01/2007 11:38

Oh no LL, that's really pants of the BS I take it there is no way around it that you can think of???
dd2 decided to get up at 6am today, what's she thinking of???? spent an hour ssssshhhhing her, as dh for once didn't have to get up early for work, as more local today! and I'm damned if I'm getting up at 6am, unless she's poorly, so did shhh pat for an hour but if I can train the other two to get up when I want to, then no3 shall fall into line too!!

laundrylover · 30/01/2007 12:08

God I hate it when Kiah does the 6am wake up! Yesterday we all slept until 8.30am and so was late for my counsellor class.

Am trying to get our financial advisor to try the BS but can't get hold of him - he has been pants really!!

UniSarah · 30/01/2007 20:53

Joning in on teh chorus of " we hate 6am" when it happens, Saturday was one FFS.feel bad having to wake him up at 7.15 on CM days as i don;t want o start training him to wake early, I love it when he goes till 8am and I get a calm shower and breakfast on my own.

left him for an hour with CM today and he was fine, hes with her all morning tomoz and then every tue and wed am. Dh doing drop off, me picking up. I'm being hard line about terry nappies, I'm paying her top rate, she can learn use MY favoured nappies. but have decided not to send washable wipes as well. At least not yet :-) being hard line had meant hes been in dizzys this afternoon as my wash timing was bit out, but I do have dry clean nappies to send in the morning.

Bummer about tennants all round really.
LL- hope the BS sort their life out, do they have to know about teh part HB payments? when I got it it was paid to me and i paid my Landlord by cheque. that was 11 years ago tho, maybe things have changed.
Friz- hope you havn;t been stitched up by the flitters.

Frizbe · 30/01/2007 21:07

Uni, great stuff about ds being ok at childminders soooo hoping tomorrow isn't a 6am job! Glad your sticking to your guns about the nappies quite right that your paying her, so its your choice!
Really hoping both ll and I have some better tennancy news soon eh!
Looks like madam is trying to drop that nap, survery of the feb mums, reads as tho a few are trying it on, down to one nap a day possibly, boooooooo.

laundrylover · 31/01/2007 09:46

Friz, doesn't it seem like they're really growing up when they drop that nap?? Mine have never really had a routine for naps but sometimes Kiah drops her afternoon one and at tea time I'm thinking 'has she really not slept since lunch???'.

Uni, glad that the CM is working out and well done for sticking to your guns re nappies. Tilly never had a problem at nursery until one day when she was only in a nappiy for nap and the staff member told me they'd put her in a dizzy 'for a treat'!!! Reckon I put them right tho - had to bite my tongue to remain calm!!!!

Well, on the advice of our crappy financial advisor and others we are going to take on our friends and their DSS payments. It seems that many mortgage offers state this as standard and most landlords ignore it so let's hope we don't get caught out. I phoned our friends and they had already got the new housing benefit forms so I was impressed. We are going for a handover at the start of March so Uni, if you make it up north, we will be granny living!!!

Astrophe · 31/01/2007 10:35

ll and friz, hope tenancy things look up soon - ll, did you manage to sort out your loan?

Glad to hear about the childminder going well Unis. My ds is is disposables for the 3 hours hes at nursery. I didn't even ask about them doing washables, but as we put a disposable on him 3 or 4 times a week when I forget to wash (or when dh is too lazy to put one together ) I'm not too bothered. Glad the CM is coming to the washables party though, after all the $$$ you shell out for them and her!

My DS dropped his 2nd sleep about 3 months ago!!! He has one long nap from about 1pm-3pm, and thats all. eek, thought this was the norm...perhaps he is terribly sleep deprived and so is waking at night to get us back and ensure that we are too!

Astrophe · 31/01/2007 10:35

ha, you know that should be £££

laundrylover · 31/01/2007 10:53

Morning Astro. See you slipped back into aussie mode with the dollars there.

Yes, we did sort out all our money so now have two mortgages and no capital - erk! I really should be doing my work to pay this off instead of MNing eh??

Sympathies on the broken nights....Kiah is worse than ever at the mo as I can't just feed her off to sleep at night as her nose is so bunged up she can't breathe. Tilly was also calling out all night and had to be settled. At least they slept until 8 am but that means we get off to a late start!

Frizbe · 31/01/2007 18:56

oh LL that's not good when you have nights like that for you all.
Astro lol at the dollar slip
Starting to get a few viewings through now, am fitting them around a kids party over Nottingham way on Sat busy week next week tho, gotta clean and paint the place, dh has been by today to look at the guttering, as a bit has fallen off, says the place looks empty and clean thru the window, so hoping its all ok when I go around tomorrow and they've not nicked the cooker etc!
Had good night on wee's from dd1 last night, she woke us up at 2.15am to go to loo two dry nights in a row glad I took your advice LL and continued with it all.

Cadmum · 01/02/2007 12:01

Sorry again for never finding a moment to catch up. It might help if dd2 would sleep at night and stay away from the stairs during the day! Is anybody else rearing a stair-maniac?

Frizbe · 01/02/2007 16:05

Only when I leave the gate open Caddy
Do you really think you could make a meet hon?? anymore news on Edinburgh?

Have checked out the tenants then......they've left loads of stuff......
Bed (which is landlord doesn't want it in there I shall be nicking for dd1 to have at grans) wall units, shelves, 2 x desks, 1 x chest of drawers and all good kit, still probably costs a lot to ship back home....but oddly enough toothbrushes and cleaning kit with a bit of food too......I have the keys they've given back, but am thinking of changing locks in case of squatters........ seemed a bit too much stuff in there, although no clothes IUKWIM??? someones nicked the mower tho.....and next doors fence onto the property is missing a pannel, so probably came thru there

UniSarah · 01/02/2007 19:56

been on one nap here for months and before christmas that was down to 45 mins only. Now hes crawling its up to 60 - 120 mins late morning before lunch normally. So today lunch was at 3pm as we were out in morning and he fell asleep in pushchair at 1ish.
Think we need to be tough about nights again, seems to to got into a habit of waking at 3am, can't blame teeth every night. So tonight no calpol.

CM morning was fine, he slept for 2 hours with her, ate all his lunch and I'm told spent most of his waking time following the older mindee around. When i arrived to pick up he crawled over climbed up gave me a hug then crawled off to play again. I was knackerd by the evening having cycled LOTS- home to CM to work to CM to home to Yoga and home via chippy.

Whos up to what at the weekend? We are meeting some friends for a walk and pub lunch on sunday. Dh is talking about taking boy to a dads stay and play session at surestart on saturday morning.

skibump · 01/02/2007 20:29

sleep....mmmm, can they get too much??? Ds still has 2 naps a day which can total about 3 hours + if I let him, then he sleeps about 12 hours at night (sorry for those who are having disturbed nights at the moment, and just to point out that's not every night by any means!) Certainly if he wakes before 7am, I tell him it's still night time. I did bring him in with me once, but that led to an hour being poked and prodded while he giggled, so we haven't done that again

Development update - still not crawling, but very impressive rolling + tummy spinning can get him pretty much where he wants to be Wants to hand walk all the time, but no sign of cruising or anything on his own. Oh, and a TOOTH!!!

Well done on the nappies Uni, and it sounds as if your boy is really happy there too

LL, what's your new house like? ie just how much of a renovation project have you taken on???? Good luck

Frizbe · 01/02/2007 21:35

ello all, skibump glad to see your getting lots of sleep
Uni, sounds like both of you are going great guns with your new routine
I've not had chance to go back to Yoga since dd2 had her fit there the other week, been too busy with stuff, might say stuff it, as the gym I've joined will have more classes being added soon, once the new facility has finished being built (spring time poss if the contractors finish on time!)

Erm what are we doing this weekend....house viewings sat am for possible tenants....kids party for the elder two 12-3, then grans for tea!
Sunday swim am, then ss has his karate grading pm, can't see the dd's sticking that tho, so will probably take them to play centre somewhere whilst dh does that!

laundrylover · 02/02/2007 11:03

Morning all,

Can't even face opening the 30 pages of chaos that need shaping into a bid so am MNing instead.

Friz, hurrah for DD1 and her night time wonderfulness. Hope there are no squatters and that you get the house rented out soon enough - viewings sound good.

Skibump, that just reminded me about your question re hard line nappy training borne out by Friz's little girl not needing to go back in nappies at all. Well.....I think that is rather convenient that expectations of potty training have become older and older as disposable nappies have been pushed more and more. It is in the best interests of Pampers and the like to have kids in nappies for as long as possible and now even HVs are telling people that you can't potty train until 2 years which is crap! When I was a baby (34 years ago!!) 18 months was the norm and before that it was even earlier. In some cultures it is much, much earlier. I can understand that all kids are not ready at the same time but I don't agree with this waiting around for the kids to 'decide' for themselves!! FGS we don't let them make their own decisions on anything else! Anyway, I'll stop now before I start on the ridiculous marketing of 'flexi' nappies and ones that 'feel wet' or pull ups that change colour.......grrrrr.....am now about to spontaneously combust.

Phew, feel all revved up to tackle that bid now - maybe this 10 million quid composter could eat the Pampers fat cats!

Astrophe · 02/02/2007 12:34

Yes Caddy, my DS is mad for the stairs - if he sees the door open even a few centermitres hes over there and out like a shot to climb the stairs! Hes very skilled I must say, but not so skilled I'm happy for him to go it alone. He does get to climb them every night to go up for his bath, but daddy is one step behind!

LL, hows the work coming? (I hope you wont answer right now due to being hard at work and not on MN!) LOL at your gripe with those nappies that feel wet...huh??? We found that wet undies felt wet enough for dd!

We had some Aussie friends staying last week - one is originally from China, and she was telling us how the 'toilet train' tiny babies to go when held over the toilet and mum/dad whistles! Apparently they still often put a nappy on just in case, but rarely have to change it. And kiddies in more rural areas go bare bummed and just squat as and when!

DCs at nursery this arvo - am meant to be at the gym but stopped going as was the only one in the class 3 weeks running! So will do a few jobs (putting new thick curtains up in ds's room which I tie dyed blue yesterday!), do half an excersize dvd, then walk up to nursery in the lovely sunshine.
x

Astrophe · 02/02/2007 12:37

oh, just remembered, I was thinking of your cousin the other day friz - how is she getting on?

And LL, how are you getting on with the pnd? And how is Tilly's sleep? Luie is being a right so and so at the moment - up 8 times two nights ago, so we sedated her last night as I was so exhausted. She stll got up once last night, but I had 6 1/2 hours with only one interuption...bliss!

skibump · 02/02/2007 14:08

Sorry for tired people

LL thx for the potty training thoughts, really interesting, and I hadn't thought of it like that - but it's obvious really . So what age are you going for then? I did see a mother on telly who believed her TINY baby told her when he wanted to go - but that was about every 20 minutes, and I just knew I'd never cope I'd bought the 'they need to be able to tell you when they're just about to go before it's worth trying' I do remeber a friend who told her daughter (

laundrylover · 02/02/2007 15:07

Skibump, Tilly was dry at 18 months and I will try Kiah this summer. Nights took a little longer and we had a setback when little sister arrived but dry for months now.

We were in China and saw the kids with slits in the bum of their trousers - around all the trees on the street there are little baby turds!

Astro, my pnd seems to be gone (fingers crossed etc) -how you doing? Do you feel like you can see the light at the end of the tunnel? My work is being ignored 'cos it's all too scary, no doubt I'll finish it on Sunday at the last minute as usual! I just got a HUGE bunch of flowers delivered from a client 'cos a bid came through - I nearly cried as I thought it was a lovely thing to do.

UniSarah · 02/02/2007 20:42

Stairs- Boy mastered them today. I was in kitchen sorting out his tea when I looked round for him and he was in the hall so I poked head round the corner to find him stood on step one, watched as he got down and then did it again, so I settled down to see how he was doing and he went 2 steps and back down, then 3, then 4 each time coming back down very tidy. I txt Dh to let him know and 2 mins later boy did the whole flight of 6 and crawled off into l iving room to find something more interesting.
Oh bum. now have to think hard about fitting a stair gate as I like him playing in the hall while I'm in the kitchen.

Bum less trousers in china- I've seen them too. Looked OK in summer, but rather chilly in winter. Guess it depends on what you wish to clear up. suspect people who live in apartments are less keen on on them than those who live round courtyards or on lanes.
personally I have carpet in my house I wish to keep pooh free as long as I can.
