Astrophe · 22/01/2007 22:07

Thanks Caddy - last night no better, and no teeth here either

Fingers crossed for tonight.

How are everyone elses LOs sleeping these days? (or perhaps I don't want to know!)

laundrylover · 23/01/2007 10:37

Hello from the snow!

Hope you had better sleep last night Caddy and Astro.

We too have no teeth but she does sometimes seem bothered by them. Regardless of this she is a bobbins sleeper and is still feeding at least twice in the night. At best she feeds at midnight and 6am which is OK but this is rare! She is worse if I leave her in bed with us but sometimes it's so cold to settle her back in her cot I just can't be bothered. Combined with Tilly's waking at least once, sometimes with night terrors, we are still bloody knackered! Phew, bit of a rant there!

Friz, Uni, how you two doing? Thanks for all the letting info Friz. I've posted on Gumtree but just found out that friends of ours are losing there flat very soon so am following that up as it would be ideal....

skibump · 23/01/2007 12:55

LL You've got snow Is it that lovely blue & white crisp snow, or the grey sludgey stuff? If the former, I'm very jealous (tho don't like the sound of the cold that goes with it)

Sympathy vibes for those who need more sleep - everyone then . Just think how much we'll miss those night time cuddles when it stops

laundrylover · 23/01/2007 13:11

Well in town it's a bit grey but the hills are still really white and lovely. It's cold but sooooo sunny that I've had to hang the nappies out - hope they don't freeze!

Miss the night time cuddles???? You can cuddle your fella instead but don't forget the contraception or it'll start all over again!

skibump · 23/01/2007 13:51

Stiff nappies on the line Still frosty here, but lovely and sunny. Just waiting for ds to wake up so we can go for a walk

Astrophe · 23/01/2007 16:47

A nice slow day for us here as dd has slap cheek she is fine tho, and after 25 min call to nhs direct (how it can possibly be cheaper than me simply asking the dr I'll never understand) it turns out it wads contagious before the rash came out, and not anymore...so we could have gone to playgroup after all...never mind. Planted some cress seeds with dd and read a book on plants we got from the library, played with the train set and went for a sunny but freezing walk this arvo. Now she is screaming as she wants to watch a dvd on the computer, so better go.

Oh, btw, DS slept through last night!!! So perhaps the answer is to start threads about their woeful sleeping, and shame them into sleeping through!

Also, we had 2 words today! Will report back in a few days to tell if they were flukes or not, but when he was waving goodbye to the tesco man he said 'bye bye', and in the park he said 'do do' pointing at a dog! Hurrah!

really must go or I will have only one child left as they are wrestling...

puffling · 23/01/2007 20:22

Hi everyone. Can I join you? DD Emilia Constance was born on March 18th.We're in the Greater manchester area.
Emilia is advanced in teeth development. She has 4 and the next lot on the way. She's not quite crawling though. She can go backwards and also do quite a fast 360 degree turn!
Thanks to Astrophe and Laundrylover for letting me know abou this thread via the sleep thread.
Dawnx

UniSarah · 23/01/2007 20:54

Hello all . been a pants day at chez uni. boy is Grumpy Mc grumpy. Hes got a man cold I think at the same time as tooth 7 is continueing to cut and tooth 8 is bobbing up and down playing now you see me now you don't. he's off his grub and only eating fromage frias, wheat puffs and oat cakes. I wrangled some bubble and squeak down him tonight by mixing it with strawberry Fromage! but he whinged all teh way and I had to keep removing his hands from his mouth. Hes had NO nap either, tryed 4 times and gave up after 10-15 mins of yelling each time.
Night time cuddles- no I do not miss them at all, and i'm kind of grumpy about them starting again with this cold waking boy up multiple times a night. Dh did the calpol at midnight last night but I had to do 1am and 3am cuddle, dummy and cot duty. Can't realy expect dh to do those as he DOES have to go to work and be sensible and grown up in high level meeting while I CAN veg on the sofa a bit.

chellebelle · 23/01/2007 22:39

Sorry I haven't been around for a while. I'm so knackered all the time it's hard to find the energy to do anything after dealing with madam and DS, housework, cooking etc etc. Am trying to get a sleep in the afternoon when emily does but that's rarely happening at the moment as I'm so far behind with the housework. Hey ho. One step at a time.

Skibump - the best mums and tots that I've heard of is Hot Tots which is at Elim Pentecostal Church (down by the Butss College)on a MOnday. Apparently it's got a very long waiting list cause it's so good. Has different rooms aimed at different aged children apparently. We're on the waiting list but haven't got a clue how long it will be til we hear anything. I do have a coffee morning at my house on a Tuesday morning, which is all other mums, and you are more than welcome to come to that

Sorry to hear about little ones still / starting waking through the night. Emily rarely goes to sleep without crying but once off she does stay off til morning thankfully. I don't think I'd cope if she started waking again, in fact I KNOW I wouldn't, so am praying like mad that it stays that way.

Welcome to the thread Puffling!!! - always good to have more people joining us

laundrylover · 24/01/2007 09:38

ooh I like it when there's a few posts to catch up on....
Puffling, welcome to you and Emilia, whereabouts are you? I am in Mossley so a coffee (and no cake for me) could be in the offing! Also we are arranging a mini meet up with the Derbyshire mums off this thread so fancy coming along?

Astro, at slapcheek - hope it goes soon and HURRAH at DS sleeping through!!!

Uni, am covering my ears at all talk of teeth as reckon we have another couple of months before teething hits if Kiah is following Tilly's lead. Hope he settles down to eating and sleeping soon. Have you tried the Yeo Valley tube yoghurts frozen? Big hit in this house. at your reasoning for DH getting sleep as I use that argument in reverse to stay in bed!!

Chelle{hugs} for you and forget about the housework altho I know that's easier said than done. Is there any way you can afford a cleaner for a while? I had one when I was preggers with DD2 and had spd. 2 hours every other week cost £16 and made a huge difference....mostly because me and DP had to tidy up like mad the night before so that the ladies could see the floor.

My news is that I think we have let out our house!!! It was a bit weird as a friend of mine made a chance comment that some old frinds of ours were losing their flat and were stuck for somewhere to go.....one phone call later and they were round for a look! Loved the house and so fingers crossed it should all happen fairly soon. We have the valuation on this house today and should get the 'let to buy' mortgage approved then.....not sure why I'm so excited about moving into a renovation project with zero budget but I am.

Also I got 5 days wrok at a whopping day rate so we may be able to afford to have the kitchen knocked through.....

Frizbe · 24/01/2007 16:25

LL wow that's two lots of great news for you fantastic!
I saw your snow on monday, looked great from the M1 stopped at J29 tho, but woooo hooooo we had it here this am, although its gone for now, just tried to sleet on me on way back from swimming, much to dd1's disgust!
So reckon we need an indoor somewhere for our meet, what says you?

Hi to Puffling hope your up for a meet with us all?

Chelle {{{Hugs}}} from me too, stuff the housework eh.....

Astro, two words excellent stuff, think we're stuck on mama n dada here, although little tyke walked 8 steps today, so now the child benifits thru for the month, am off to get 1st pair of shoes

Its dd1 keeping me up at the moment after 3 dry nights, has started wetting bed, even if I lift her at 10/11pm, last night dh lifted her at 11pm, no wee, then all over the bed at 1am what do you do eh!

laundrylover · 24/01/2007 16:50

Thanks Friz.

Walking!!??? and Astro - forgot to say, talking???!!!! Kiah is now actually crawling which I may have forgotton to mention - isn't it bizarre when they suddenly appear through an open door??

Yes an indoor meet up would be good - no ideas though.....

DP took the girls sledging yesterday which involved parking the buggy halfway up a slope and then steering past at high speed! Kiah was frozen stiff after half an hour poor thing and they all came back glowing and in need of warm milk.

Just got out my tupperware box of pump and bottles and it's all mouldy - yuk - managed to express 6 oz mould free but will have to wash and dishwasher everything now....my Mum has tried Kiah with half and half ebm/cow's milk in her bottle today so we'll see what she thought!

puffling · 24/01/2007 22:18

Hi again everyone. Thanks for the welcome.I'd love to meet up with people especially if there are any meet ups in Manchester city centre. I don't drive unfortunately but Laundrylover, if you could let me know about the Derbyshire meet anyway, I'll see if i can make it.
Are any of your little ones in nursery? I'm really pleased with Emilia's nursery apart from the fact that there's no sleep room so she's really overtired and today, lunch was mashed sausage rolls and waffles! I think I'm going to have to tell them she's become a vegetarian!

UniSarah · 24/01/2007 22:45

Ok, boy has joined the sick list. As Dh was concerned and is working away today and tomoz I took boyto DRs, came away with antibiotics and poor lad sounds like he has a lung infection. Ho Hum, crumby mummy thinking it was a man cold.
LOL at reverse reasoning on who stays in bed. Horses for courses.
ARGh at Childminders. thought I 'd found a nice one, with vacency etc, phoned her back today to say YES and she now saying " I'll get backto you tomorrow after i've seen another parent who wants a space and may want more hours." Grrr. I do have a 2nd choice in mind but still grrr.I would klike him to start next week. Don;t want to have to do the whole interveiw thing AGAIN.

Hoep all those with a cm or 2 of snow enjoy it while it lasts. Devon was glouriosly sunny today, washing day in a few hours on the line.

Frizbe · 25/01/2007 10:20

we still have some snow, but think the sun will melt it all again, did yest, but then we got some more, hurrah!! dd1 very happy
LL/Astro have you got your dd1's night trained yet? was wondering as have started a thread re dd1, as was dry and has regressed

Where can we meet that's warm n dry?? Meadowhall! Trafford Centre! I shall look on net for somewhere else eh?

Uni, boooo at CM, don't ya just hate it when that happens.....

Puffling dd1 does nursery/pre school at same place, food sounds a tad better than at yours tho what an odd idea of lunch.......get jamie oliver down there!

So dd2 decided to climb sucessfully onto dd1's bed whilst I was on another thread a mo ago, argh!

laundrylover · 25/01/2007 11:07

Uni, poor boy, no wonder he was off his food! Hope the ABs kick in soon....

Friz, Are you sure DD2 is not a chimp??
Sorry, I did mean to reply about DD1s night wees but forgot yesterday. Well, Tilly was dry with a lift before 2 years and then regressed when her sister arrived so we stopped the lift and bought some incredibly expensive, groovy fleece nappies....3 nights later and she was dry. No accidents since. So really I don't know what the way forward for you is apart from to say that one night Tilly found a nappy and put it in (unstuffed) and wet the bed! I would say that if she has been dry a few times then buy a hippychick sheet and cut it in two and then you can wash one and wear one.Try her for a week and do a sticker chart? I bet loads of people replied to your thread and said 'don't worry, put her back in nappies' so as a hard liner I can't bear to look!!!!

Puffling, I can probably give you a lift to the meet up when we eventually decide where we are going! Are you living in the centre?

Frizbe · 25/01/2007 19:02

LL they did! and I've brought some as can't be arsed tonight and want some sleep, but sheading a tad of light is the fact that today I couldn't get her to wee until 5pm.....she had drinks with me before pre school, lunch and mid afternoon, but upon questioning she said no drink at pre school her buddy said the same to his mum when quizzed, so I'm gona have words with pre school tomorrow, as I know they have drinks out, but if they're not monitoring the kids, I'm guessing a few are getting away with avoiding them, mine included

Astrophe · 25/01/2007 22:58

Hi everyone

friz, have replied on your thread.

  • we have aussie friends here at the mo, spent a lovely day wandering around the grounds of chatsworth house in the sunshine.

am in for meet up - somewhere warm! Meadowhall? I've not been yet.

Frizbe · 26/01/2007 10:36

Hi Astro, thanks will go and look, more visitors your a busy lady! was Chatsworth as nice as ever? we're thinking about going on sunday? dh has invited loads of his mates over on Sat (4 is quite a lot for dh in one go!) so was thinking about trying to escape then too and he is wanting me to stay around like his friends are going to want two small kids crawling all over them

Astrophe · 26/01/2007 15:51

oh friz, its closed - we just walked on the estate. no playground and farm though. but it did save us some £ !

Frizbe · 26/01/2007 16:55

Is it! and just a walk for us too then, do you know if the farm shop and tea room are open?? or is it a trek to bakewell or cauldwells mills for a cuppa?

UniSarah · 26/01/2007 16:55

downer on the chatsworth front friz. maybe Dh wants to play with the kids AND his mates? my Dh does do doting daddy very well even when with his friends, he has been seen walking teh pushchair round teh boundry while padded up waiting to go in during a cricket match.

I've just had a mad re-organising storage of Boys stuff in waiting. and found a new home for the travel cot in our wardrobe.
Boy has perked up a bit now. I think he may have a sore throat as what seems to be working on teh food front is cold smooth things, cod soup went down well at lunch time. Mind u so did a large ammount of birthday cake at mums and tots.

Cadmum · 26/01/2007 20:24

Hello all...

Our week has gone rather smoothly but I am still behind on all of the housework and sleep deprivation is really unpleasant.

Let me know when you are having a meet up as DH has all of Feb and the first week of March off (paternity leave but we are calling it PhD leave as he is going to finish his dissertation). Maybe dd2 and I could fly up...

UniSarah · 26/01/2007 20:45

sorry for my appaling typoing earlier, It should have read "cold soup" , I was told at mums and tots that refering to it as congealed soup was a bit toooo gross.

skibump · 27/01/2007 14:45

Hello everyone. Wow, loads to catch up on

Welcome Puffling I only arrived a couple of weeks ago, and it's v friendly here

Chelle, glad ur ok (agree with the others, forget the housework!)Thx for tip re Hot Tots - I'll look into it, and it'd be lovely to join you one Tuesday

Uni & Astro for poorly lo's.Hope they're feeling better soon. NB Astro, Meadowhall is a vast shopping centre in Sheffield, v close to the M1

LL, so what's your hard line on night time nappies? Interested as to why you wouldn't use them if tiny dc are bedwetting (not an area I have any knowledge of....yet!)
