Hey all
I'm currently having a tough day, I have a Velcro baby today who is just over a month!
Had a letter for referral to the breast clinic - a urgent referral and the soonest they can fit me in is two weeks time I'm really suffering as the abscess appears to be getting bigger any tips on reducing symptoms ? Not looking forwards to being lanced to reduce it tho!
Well done to those other mummies balancing the daily chores and a mini one!

Me23 · 10/11/2014 17:43

flip my mum was from Limerick too! Dad from Sligo.

I was pre obese before pregnancy not sure what I am now probably the same though I am eating a Lot less as have lost appetite.

pregnant I have done slimming world before I really liked how good it was for vegetarians.

sazzle I like tootsy mcginty aswell but haven't bought any too expensive though sometimes have stuff in jogn lewis sale.

fedupofrainydays · 10/11/2014 17:48

I wish had lost all my weight too but I've the opposite of appetite loss I'm bloody starving!!! I'm blaming how much dS feeds and properly exploiting the 5000 extra cals a day thing. Got just under a stone to go and hoping to get back on my spin bike this week sometime soon

fatpony · 10/11/2014 17:59

Smooshie, won't a hospital lance a breast abscess? I was at a BF drop in the other day and a lady with an abscess came in, the lac consultant said get straight to hospital A&E for it to be sorted as it can make you very I'll...

FlipFantasia · 10/11/2014 18:43

Smooshie I agree with Fatpony, an abscess is serious and should be treated urgently before it worsens. I'd be heading to a&e

Me Limerick ladies = fab Smile.

FlipFantasia · 10/11/2014 18:50

Me I meant to ask, did you get the ergo? Dd2 is asleep in hers as I type and it makes my daily life much more manageable! I've been using a moby wrap too, which is snug and lovely, but the ergo is just so fast and easy to use (moby ends up being used more at weekends when dh is around).

BadgerInBury · 10/11/2014 18:59

binky How was your first day flying solo?

I'm jealous of those of you back to pre-preggo weight. I'm a stone and a half heavier than I'd like. I'm giving myself two more weeks to heal up and stuff my face during all night feeding sessions but once I hit 6 weeks i'm going to start fighting to get my body back! Looking forward to the challenge. DP is going to join me, he's gained almost as much as I during this pregnancy.

Me23 · 10/11/2014 19:14

flip yes I bought the ergo yesterday. Have yet to try it on with dd in it as want OH to help me first few times.

FlipFantasia · 10/11/2014 19:21

Yay for the ergo Me! One of the things I love is that it's v easy to swap between dh and myself, so great for dads carrying too. Do play around with the straps, eg if I'm struggling to get it on myself it's usually because the strap between my shoulders is too low and I need it closer to the top of my back.

Shirehobbit · 10/11/2014 20:19

We could start a weight-loss/diet/exercise thread here (or make an FB group) to exchange recipes and post progress/support?

Happytimes31 · 10/11/2014 20:30

Yes had an interesting time flying solo with the ergo today until I realised that the problem was the back strap being too low down for me to reach and I could move it!! Anyone bought the 360 or are you all just using the old one? Assumed forward facing would be a must until someone told me about over stimulating the other day. Obviously we will still be on inward facing with the insert for a while yet. Also with the insert do you have their feet almost out of the carrier? I have been shown two different ways but the official ergo way seems to end up with feet almost poking out of the sides...

sazzlehopes · 10/11/2014 20:54

Evening all. Been doing some research on things related to the crying and fussing N seems to do. I found this article interesting as we've had a few green poos even when I think I've been really good at making sure he gets both fore and hind milk... Also I'm not sure if it is dairy related reflux....I've eliminated all dairy now for 2 weeks and seen a slight improvement. But I'm now wondering whether it's actually my fast let down and his guzzling air that makes him sick and gives him a poorly tummy? He chokes sometimes it comes so fast and my let down is actually painful.

Anyone else experience this?

sazzle that sounds very familiar! What did you find out?

Pregnantagain7 · 10/11/2014 21:18

me it is very good for veggies I like the fact that you can eat loads on it coming from an Italian family I like my food!

shire I'd be up for a weightless thread I don't do fb but would be up for it on here

Early night for me going to leave r with dp while I try and get some sleep :)

Pregnantagain7 · 10/11/2014 21:20

Ha ha weightloss not weightless.

binkybunny · 10/11/2014 21:41

Badger it was ok actually, got quite a bit done this morning while she entertained herself or slept in the bouncer, had a bit of tummy play time then cuddles on the sofa this afternoon while I watched crap on tv.

It was lovely for a day but not sure how I'm going to cope with my new life day after day. Obviously I'll be going to groups and out for coffees once I can drive again but it's just going to take a while to adjust to my life without a job.

My mum called this afternoon and they are coming back for a few days tomorrow, so looking forward to it Grin.

sazzlehopes · 10/11/2014 21:43

mrsb did you have a quick read of the link above? Interesting...describes a lot of what N does at feeding time and how my boobs feel when feeding. I'm small chested but they fill up well and spurt milk out if he pulls off them. He chokes and splutters sometimes when feeding when I can feel my let down happening. Sometimes I can feel him gulping air into his tummy.
This article describes these things and how to combat that to stop green poos and also to help with the sick and the uncomfortable tummy and therefore crying from it... It also says milk oversupply can be misdiagnosed as colic or reflux or dairy intolerance as they are similar. Anyway I'm going to try the methods they describe to help with N getting more of my hind milk and to ease how he feeds and therefore hopefully have him less uncomfortable in his tummy and sick less. Worth a try for a happier baby, more sleep for me and maybe even reintroduction to CHEESE!!!!!

fedupofrainydays · 10/11/2014 21:46

sazzle yes to painful let down. Didnt habe with ds1 but definitely this time. And R is gulping away and can get windy yes. The wise thing to do would probably express the first bit but to be honest in the middle of the night that's the last thing I feel like doing! Rs wind / colic is much much better at the mo - who knows if it's the cranial oesteopathy, gripe water (although only using once or twice a day as such a faff) or that I've stopped taking flucanazole (or whatever it's called).

In subject again of piles - mine bleeds. Anyone else have this? So painful last couple of days too.

sazzlehopes · 10/11/2014 21:47

Are you having similar signs mrsb? I know you were finding gaviscon was helping..... N is 6 weeks on Saturday - how old is your LO?

OP posts:
Captainmcgraw · 10/11/2014 21:48

Sazzle I've been wondering the same as my let down is very strong. I find DS chokes and splutters for a good while but then when it slows down it's like he gets really frustrated perhaps because he hasn't had to work at it previously... My letdown pain is also strong - when not feeding as well as multiple times within feed.

I'm really driving myself (but mainly DH) mad second guessing what the problem is the whole time!

Captainmcgraw · 10/11/2014 21:49

me23 yes to top and tailing!

sazzlehopes · 10/11/2014 21:51

fedup the article is interesting it says not to express the first bit as you won't help the oversupply, better to let them feed then pull them off when the fast let down happens and have that bit go into a towel/cloth and then pop them back on again to stop them guzzling/choking and to help them get to the fatty hind milk. It also says to feed from the same boob in the next 2-4 hours if baby wants more....
Easier at night than expressing, I'm far too tired for that! It also says feeding lying down helps as milk doesn't rush at them...

OP posts:
fedupofrainydays · 10/11/2014 21:55

Yes just read it. Guess it makes sense. I will give it a go at points where I feel like there's oversupplh - R feeds less than two hours apart in the day so doesn't get a chance to build up! At night it can though as dH (except when drink or hungover) does a feed about 10 pm so I can go almlst 6 hours without feeding

sazzlehopes · 10/11/2014 21:56

captain I'm driving my OH mad and myself too trying to problem solve the discomfort N is clearly in. There's so much out there advice wise online it's hard not to think oh it's this, that or the other...
I also have listened to friends of mine in similar situations that said this helped, giving up dairy, cranial thingy helped, gaviscon helped but who knows if any of it did it just time?!!!
Anyway I like to be proactive so giving up dairy gave me a purpose and now I'm going to revise how I feed and see if that makes a difference.... But for now I'm sticking off the dairy too just incase. If I see a marked improvent in Neds comfort and sick I'll reintroduce dairy and see what happens.

fedupofrainydays · 10/11/2014 22:04

I did read another article that supports this that 'colic' was so often latch and how the baby feeds rather than other 'issues' - but like you I seem t find myself trying every sodding thing in the book. Next thing to try is massage / reflexology on his feet -FFs!!
