I've got an email from one of the wives of the boys 'd'h was out with today saying it's the most drunk she's ever seen her Husband! Oh god, I don't think I can face going to find mine after this feed!
He's got various other nights out before Christmas so somewhere I've got to make up for it when I finish bf or R feeds less!

MundayCakes85 · 09/11/2014 00:43

We've spent the day with my family and 'D'H is tucked up in bed after drinking lots of red wine and port not jealous at all Etta got a lovely cold so snot everywhere and lots of snuffling and waking herself up Sad
Anyone else planning on very little sleep tonight??

MundayCakes85 · 09/11/2014 00:44

Good luck Fedup and others- makes sure the drunkards sleep in the spare room/ on sofa if possible!!

Bump I'm the same with my DH - I'd be seething if he were steaming drunk right now!!! Blush Lucky chap! He's got a black tie work awards dinner at the end of the month and I'm dreading that - not because of Lil as she's pretty straightforward but in case Jonas wakes up and needs me and I'm stuck feeding Lil. If I put her down midfeed she'll squall! I can just see me stuck upstairs with my arms full of the two of them Hmm Confused cursing him getting trashed on free champers

In theory oversupply and foremilk / hind milk issues should be quick to resolve (less than a week), whereas CMPI will take 3-6 weeks on a full elimination diet for symptoms to resolve so the timing may help with a diagnosis? Milk allergy where the response is immune system governed (IG mediated CMPI) can show up on allergy testing but this represents less than 1\3 of CMPI cases, CMPI where the response comes from the gut is more common (and fits with the symptoms you describe I.e. primarily gut based, IG symptoms can also include hives, eczema, sneezing, mucus, red eyes etc too) and this can only be tested by elimination and then a documented dairy challenge to look for a reaction.

Yellow you are so informative, we're lucky to have you on here. Glad to hear you enjoyed your b'day despite the rain.
Bump sorry to hear you're having BF trouble, hope you aren't in too much pain on boob 2.
I've got a v snotty, grunty baby. Not been to sleep yet as keeping her upright on me to help her breath. Feel pretty useless though Sad

fedupofrainydays · 09/11/2014 03:34

bump that sounds tough. If you are worried about this then ask your doctor to prescribe some of the dairy free formula. Sorry it takes so long to get rid of the dairy - difficult as won't know for ages if that what causing the problems.

DH is passed out down stairs stark naked. He better get ds1 to rugby at 9 tomorrow or he's in trouble!!

YellowWellies · 09/11/2014 03:42

Munday haha I'm a one trick pony! CMPI would sadly be my specialist subject on Mastermind thanks to having to fight for a diagnosis with my first. Blush

mrsb87 · 09/11/2014 05:10

Hmm....Dylan has been asleep site 10! He was awake cluster feeding all evening and my boobs are so so painful and full! I'm lying here waiting for him to wake up. When should you wake them up?! I was always told never to wake a sleeping babyConfused

I think we've had the worst night ever.

First bubba's witching hour was later than normal probably due to being Over excited at meeting his gran. This became histrionics which eventually became inconsolable (even DH was frantic) crocodile tears. He just wouldn't settle! Everytime we put him down he would start crying and I wonder if it was trapped wind?

Needless to say DH passed out unconscious like he normally does and I have been left, literally holding the baby. Aargh!!

Re my mum, this is her 9th grandchild & my first. But my dad passed away the same week I found out I was preggers so I like to think this baby is extra special in our family.

Ps My baby also knows when it's dinner time and demands to be held or fed. I would say this is probably not a bad thing for me eating less, but I se to be reaching for biscuits at all hours to combat the hunger/ keep me awake.

mrsb87 · 09/11/2014 06:01

Well he woke up just after posting that, tried giving him gaviscon and he's already puked that up all over the bed. Great start to the day!
missus I hope your day improves!

YellowWellies · 09/11/2014 06:02

Bump just say you need some formula for when you're not around - nutramigen and neocate are the ones you're after. CMPI is considered to have a strong genetic component I'm afraid.

Me23 · 09/11/2014 06:14

Haven't had a great night v up every 2 hours.

I was put back on Bp meds but only once a day I think it'll have to be increased as they are not working Bp still high when I check. Bp goes up when sleep deprived so that's not helping.

clairemiss79 · 09/11/2014 06:54

Hi ladies. I was hoping you could give me advice about what babies wear to bed. My dd has been happy to move from a swaddle to a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. Under the sleeping bag she has a short sleeved vest and baby gro. My house is cool at night - not freezing cold. She is 5 weeks. When she wakes her hands and arms from the elbow down are freezing like ice but her body seems fine. Would you use a long sleeved vest under the babygro? I'm so worried but overheating but am i being ridiculously paranoid? I feel awful when i lift her with her freezing hands. Wwud?

fedupofrainydays · 09/11/2014 07:54

Have you got the babygros that cover the hands claire?
Do you know what temp it goes to?

Captainmcgraw · 09/11/2014 08:13

Yes what temp is room? 16-20 degrees is right for those layers but I always find closer to 16 feels cold and would be tempted to put a long sleeve vest on. Baby's hands often feel very cold but it doesn't mean they feel cold to them ifyswim ?

I just got 3.5 hour stretch after the last feed which never happens. However it was because I lay him with his head and torso resting on me and legs on bed (so he was propped up). Making me think an elevated sleeping position would be better but this means not using sleepyhead!
He was definitely less weezy, grunty

etc.

Following the chat about over supply, too much lactose etc as I'm considering this might be our issue not reflux as all the signs are there. I have such a painful letdown I cry out (when not feeding as well) will mention to HV and GP and otherwise try colief as this is meant to break down lactose. Otherwise will ush for ranitidine

claire I was always told as long as chest and neck are a good temp then they're fine. I don't think their circulation is great which is why hands can feel chilly.

YellowWellies · 09/11/2014 10:15

Bump the SMA / Cow and Gate ones are only suitable for very mild CMPI - as they're still made from cows milk, its just the proteins have been hydrolysed to make them more easily digestible. Sadly its a case of the companies trying to cash in Sad If your baby can detect cows milk protein in breast milk even a hydrolysed cows milk formula would be very painful. Nutramigen and neocate are hypoallergenic and not cows milk based they'd be the best bet.

Sorehead · 09/11/2014 10:39

Didn't have a great night last night- got around an hour and a half of sleep.

Listening to the noises DS makes, I'm now wondering if he's suffering from reflux. Especially because he's started being really fussy with feeding and DH has just told me he thinks DS' breath smells sour. He doesn't really make the noises/ seem as uncomfortable when he's lying on me, but he's lying on more of an incline when on me. If it were silent reflux (no real sick to mention), would he be uncomfortable whenever he's lying down flat? If he's fallen asleep on me he'll sometimes stay in a peaceful sleep when I transfer him to his basket. He tends to be most uncomfortable just after and just before a feed. Also, his tongue usually looks like it's got leftover milk on it.

Worth a trip to the doctor based on what I've described, and if so, how can I avoid being fobbed off?

YellowWellies · 09/11/2014 13:13

Sorehead white tongue coating is normal if BF. Reflux babies are often more comfy lying on you especially if tummy to tummy as lying tummy down keeps the oesophagal sphincter closed. Because of the higher risk of SIDS with reflux I'd not dare but Lil tummy down in the cot yet but last night she had bad reflux (we had a Chinese for my birthday and proved she reacts to soya Sad ) and slept from 6 til 10am on my chest as she kept puking and choking in the cot.

Most babies have some degree of reflux its if they seem in pain with it that I personally would go to the docs xx

Sorehead · 09/11/2014 13:39

yellow- thank you! He's FF so not sure if still normal? He doesn't seem constantly in pain but he's uncomfortable enough to be woken up by whatever it is and some of his cries are heartbreaking, albeit short lived. It does seem to be getting worse too.

Sorry to hear Lil reacted to your Chinese last night, especially as it was a birthday treat. How long does reflux tend to last? I've seen mixed accounts when looking online.
