Yes Rumpel feeling particularly clumsy today. Not sure about baby carrier but I can recomend some bibs for all those bottle feeders out there. They are called Tommee Tippee milk feeding bibs and they have like an extra thick piece that goes around babies neck. avoids stains and smells on clothes. I deal for teething Helps to eliminate rashes. I bought some yesterday and nothing went on lo's babygro last night. They are a bit expensive but worth it. Im going to buy some more today. It just amazes me what they come out with. Would never have heard of these a couple of years ago with ds3!

pmoore · 30/11/2006 13:03

Thanks for the bib tip gingeme- I saw them in Sainsbury's and wondered if they would be any good.

Think LO has her first bout of sickness and diarahoea not sure anything can be done for babies- you can't stop feeding them like you would a toddler. HV coming this afternoon so maybe she'll have a tip.

Can't believe LO is 8 weeks on Saturday- first injections next Tuesday. And the Calpol to come out!!!

Rumpel- know what you mean about all the nice food around at the moment- I stupidly restarted my slimming club last Monday. Desparate to get back in my pre-pregnancy jeans for Xmas.

Welcome skinnyliz.

phew, just finished reading all postings. dd in pushchair sleeping in garden. first time that has ever happened so am frantically trying to do all the things have been longing to do (and not longing-bank statements etc . have had some really tough days and nights. we have now had colic reflux constipation and the latest and by far the most upsetting starvation . got to optimistic and started going out to the shops etc with dd and suddenly found had no milk left. was awful feeling, dd cried and cried and refused formula. finally settled at the next feed when i had a bit more, but it took a whie of enforced house arrest for good milk supply again. she's feeding like a horse now.
by the way- apart from the cranial osteopathy, i found dramatic improvement in colic when cut all dairy and wheat from my diet-major pain up the butt! still way better than the 3 hours screaming every night. also, be warned, the gaviscon the dr gave me for reflux made dd constipated and had 6 hours of straining to poo until gave up on gaviscon. back to holding her for 2 hours after feeds at night now!
still things improving bit by bit and hoping that after 6 weeks will be getting much better -that's what it says in books!
def up for meet up on 11th unless still prob with milk. really looking forward to seeing you all
thanks for info on sheepskin whiffy.

SDorry, your photogroapher doesn't know the regs - for babies under 12m, eyes are allowed to be shut!

Major guilt-trip for me yesterday. Ds had a miserable day, restless, unable to settle to sleep, unable to settle down to feeding, did 7 poos poor lovey. Dh asked me what I'd been eating over the past day or two. I ddin't admit to him that I'd had a chocolate orgy . But there are times, especially when you're knackered, when you just need chocolate. A man wouldn't understand. I suppose I didn't need so much. I blame Co-op for their BOGOF.

Still feel bad abut what all that chocolate did to poor little ds though.

reading all about these choc binges makes me want to say 'I WANT CHOCOLATE NOW' - but trying to be 'good' whatever that means (it actually means I have eaten two packets of biscuits in the last two days before dh even realised I had bought them ).

BUT have my jeans on today - can bearly sit down and can't eat a lot, but they are on, and are staying on!

Had 6 week check today, all fine and dandy. ds2 was a star and very content to be poked and prodded. He had his BCG too and of course cried, but settled down quite quickly. He has been asleep since we got home, so I have made a huge vat of pasta sauce (you won't know this but I just don't do cooking - dh does most of it, so that will be a nice surprise for him!) and caught up on some phone calls. Guess I had better wake him now, to feed, change and collect ds1.

Going to try bf-ing drop in again tomorrow (different venue) and ask about feeding on left side only, for some feeds. Think I want someone to make a decision for me - would be so much easier!

Does anyone know if you can get disposable feeding bottles? Am thinking of when we stay in a hotel for a night over xmas, would be easier than being ultra organised before we leave the in-laws.

catgirl · 30/11/2006 16:18

oh yes, second milliee re baby bjorn

PrettyCandles · 30/11/2006 16:51

You can get disposable bottles at Botos and at Mumsnet. Last time I used them (several years ago) they leaked horribly, but at least they did the job - just about.

PrettyCandles · 30/11/2006 16:52

LOL. I think there's a bit of sleep-deprivation creeping in here, "Botos and Mumsnet" indeed! Of course, I meant "Boots and Mothercare". .

Swizzler · 30/11/2006 16:57

Re slings: I use a Wilkinet which is v good and again good for the back. I'm avoiding chocolate as it does affect W - as does wine and chilli - but DH bought me a large bar of Green and Blacks so may have a bit tonight. Dairy doesn't seem to have an effect - can't see any difference when I don't have any for a day, so am not worrying about it.

After another 2-hr feeding bout last night, W slept for 4.5 hours! This is turning into a bit of a sleep log and prob v boring but I can't get over the luxury of sleeping for more than a couple of hours at a time

Martha: hope the milk supply probs are better. I seem to remember that fennel tea is good for increasing supply.

Whiffy: have removed sheepskin in panic after reading up on them. DH thinks I'm a loony, but better safe than sorry. W doesn't seem to mind.

What time do people want to meet on the 11th? I'm happy to book a table if I can get some idea of numbers. 12/1/2pm?

Welcome SkinnyLiz! If you're able to get to Central London on the 11th, you'd be v welcome to come for pizza

youngmum21 · 30/11/2006 17:09

hi all

Had a really bad nite with lo last nite she woke at 10 had a feed then continued to scream all nite i cudnt cope so gave her to dp and ran down the stairs crying he stayed up all nite with her while i got bak in to bed and didnt slep due to feeling guilty, he finally got her to sleep at 5 and put her in bed with me where she did sleep till 9 and has been gud all day!!!

Rang hv and she reckons its colic but there not alot else i can do dont think i can cope with another nite of no sleep!!!

Gingeme · 30/11/2006 19:07

Oh youngmum seems like quite a few of our lo's had a bad night night last night. I know what you mean about feeling guilty too .
Forgot how much formulamilk pooh stinks. We were in the middle of Currys looking for a new freezer and lo did an almighty pooh and it realy stank. Was quite embaressing talking to the guy about freezers with the smell whiffing under his nose. How can someone so small create such an awful pong??!!

marthahm · 30/11/2006 20:34

does anyone know how much it would cost to send a pushchair from london to cheshire?trying to work out if it's worth it to send it rather than wrestle with it plus moses basket suitcases christmas presents etc in small car. push chair is to stay at inlaws. all the courier companies ask for the weight, how do you find out how much they weigh?

PrettyCandles · 30/11/2006 20:44

Bathroom scales?

Squiffy · 30/11/2006 21:44

PMSL at image of Marthahm on one leg standing on scales holding pram aloft whilst straining to read the weight....

Almost back to my old name as discovered there was a regular on MN with a name very similar to PelvicDoors... fortunately have managed to thunk up a new name both recognisable and strangely appropriate...

Re 11th - looks like I might need to work. Am I allowed to come without DD and just cluck over the rest of you?

catgirl · 01/12/2006 08:17

re weight of pushchair (although image described by squiffy is strangely amusing!) - can you look at the spec in Mothercare or similar - they usually quote weight.

Had a rotten night last night, have decided that it is for bf-ing - and am going to up a couple of bottles by a an oz or two - especially the evening one. Think what made me decide was that I can't be bothered to go to the bf support place today - so clearly I don't want to get it 'right' do I? Funny, how telling myself I wouldn't feel guilty this time, I still do feel a little guilty and like I have to justify my reasons to myself, rather than anyone else. oh well.

Re wearing my jeans yesterday - it was such a relief to take them off at about 7:30pm - and you couldn't tell where my stretch marks started and the marks from the jeans ended!

DS2 is singing my song - gotta go - have a good one ladies.

youngmum21 · 01/12/2006 09:19

morning all,

well had a better nite with dd last nite thank god dont think i cud of coped with another sleepless nite!!!
For all those ppl with lo suffering with wind and colic give them some cooled down boiled water it has worked wonders for dd she is bringin ub her wind and pooing alot easier to so must have settled her stomach!!!

I wud love to meet with you all but live in leicester so it a bit to far to travel with lo!!

catgirl · 01/12/2006 09:34

PrettyCandles - thanks for info on boots and mothercare - figured out 'boots' but did wonder about 'mumsnet'.... that will be my trip out today then.

Glad to hear you had a better night yougnmum21 - something I was told last time too, that if you are formula feeding and lo is constipated, use the ready made, liquid version of that formula - that seems to work (something to do with the chemistry of the ingredients - can't remember quite what) - anyway, it worked for us and got things moving!

nicand2 · 01/12/2006 09:36

Hello all - hope everyone managed some sleep.

The sma white means lo is now waking at 3 and 6.30 on the dot. It is an improvement but when they wake up at exactly the same time each night I do wonder if he will ever go through the night?

DS2 has had a rotten cold as well for a week now and is hardly eating. This morning I've noticed lo is really snotty which worries me as he's too young for any medicines.

I had a really busy/stressfull day yesterday which seems to have triggered a bit of bleeding again do you think this is normal and just under 6 weeks? I'm too scared to phone the dr in case they say wait a bit longer before I drive etc, Sunday has been marked on my calender for weeks and I'll go crazy if I can't get out and about next week.

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 01/12/2006 12:21

Having a weird day today - feels like a weekend because everyone's at home and we're all still in pjs. Dh and ds1 both have something that may turn out to be tonsilitis or a vile cold - they have viciously sore throats and the shivers, anyway. As a result ds2 and I slept in the spare room. Although Imissed dh (despite still getting the benefit of his snores) we all slept better, so we may continue having some nights apart even after dh is well. Of course, ds2 and I will probably pick up the infection in any case. Normally I wouldn't bother trying to avoid it - impossible in a house with school-age children - but I don't care for the idea of a 6wo with tonsilitis!

nicand2 · 01/12/2006 12:26

PC I think that's what's been going round in our house too, I had a terribly sore throat last week and now both lo's are suffering I tried not to breath on them too much but it's impossible to avoid passing it on. Hope you all feel better soon.
