No it doesnt bother him at all surprisingly but then nothing bothers him. He is so very tolerant of everything that happens to him. For his button op they took some blood and he started beaming from ear to ear. I thought his head would fall off he was smiling so much!!!!

He is spending tonight and tmrw night at the cherries (restbite home), feels very strange without him around. We decided to decorate his room on a spur of the moment today. It used to be a creamy colour so we painted the ceiling black and the walls dark blue. We then did some stamping on the ceiling with white paint and got some stencils for the walls and did them with flourescant yellow!!! It looks great under the uv light. We are not mad but thought that all his sensory stuff would look great in there now. Especially if it is uv.

maisiemog · 07/05/2007 22:35

Aah bless him smiling!
That room sounds remarkable - does he respond well to high contrasts?
You will be so pleased to see him when he comes home. I can imagine how odd it feels without your baby.
I think the longest I have been away from Alfie is for a day, but it is a nice rest though.

jbadgirl · 08/05/2007 08:24

We are not sure exactly what he can see but we think contrasts are good for him. He does not "see" us but can probably pick out our outlines.

cazzybabs · 09/05/2007 22:38

How was the dentist jbadgirl? And does Toby like his room?

Our house sale looks like it might be off . Our sellers are annoyd at how long our buyers are taking (not us we are ready to sign and seal) so they have put the house back on the market.

jbadgirl · 10/05/2007 18:25

The dentist was fine and they said it is just him teething! After waiting for nearly half an hour we got seen!

Toby does like his room I think and he can sleep in there tonight as the paint fumes have got better!!

KathH · 10/05/2007 22:01

Hi girls - sorry not been on this thread for aaaaaaaaages. Think me & DH are on the verge of splitting up - will explain all later.

maisiemog · 10/05/2007 22:26

What!!? Kath I hope you are OK.

KathH · 10/05/2007 22:31

I think "resigned" is the word I want! Seriously I'm OK just want things to be resolved one way or the other.

maisiemog · 11/05/2007 00:51

I'm sorry you are feeling so fed-up. Sometimes things can't go at the speed you want. It's so frustrating.
Do you have loads of stressful stuff going on? Exams?
Is Moley OK? Is he being a nightmare terrible two?

KathH · 11/05/2007 23:20

Thanks Masie - am struggling to post lately due to him still being around at the moment but I do appreciate your support. (is there a vomit inducing emotion?)

maisiemog · 12/05/2007 16:18

No problem! Poor you. Sending {{{hugs}}} to tide you over.

cazzybabs · 14/05/2007 21:16

Oh Kath - I am so sorry. Is there anything we can do...strangers who live miles away fat lot of good that is...but if there is...do want someone to come up and look after Meley for a few hours.. I can get a train (seriously the offer is there!)?

cazzybabs · 14/05/2007 21:22

I can look after your multiple other children as well BTW....I am a professional you know (CRB checked any everything). I am not so good at cooking and cleaning but hey I can give that a go too!

I hope you are OK Kath and your lovely children.

jbadgirl · 14/05/2007 21:27

Hello, well we finally got our appointment through for his results of mri scan. They rang me on friday at 5.30 for an appointment today at 11. All went ok and we found out a bit more about what is up with his brain. He is going to have loads more tests as the scan shows a marked loss of white matter in his brain and the report shows the possibility of vanishing white matter disease? Most of it is jargon but have been looking on the net to try and translate it a bit. His results are going to a world specialist in holland to see if she can see anything.
There is also a possibility of hydrocephalus even though his head is very small. They want to do bloods for more research and a lumbar puncture to see if this is the case. Gosh its so much to look into.
He is away at the cherries again tonight so hope i will sleep better!!!

cazzybabs · 14/05/2007 21:34

Oh Jbadgirl - had you expected it to be this? At last you know it not due to getting ill during your pregnancy! Do you feel better to have a diagnosis?

You are strong - I don't know how you do it. Toby is the most luckiest little boy in the world to have you as his Mum. I think both you and he are amazing.

jbadgirl · 14/05/2007 21:48

No and I really need to look into this more too, once they do the other tests they may find out more in detail. It really doesnt change anything in the near future as Toby will still get all his therapy and love from everyone!!
Its really strange as I feel like we are getting further into this. Sometimes I feel really oblivious when the docs are saying stuff like I should know what they are on about. Luckily I took my bro with me and he had a degree in phamacology, he has more of a medical mind! and he can tell me in laymans terms what the hell they are on about.

maisiemog · 14/05/2007 23:08

Jbad, I'm glad you have some results, but on the other hand, it's hard to have a diagnosis.
Like you I was looking on the net to try to understand what is (possibly) the cause of Toby's problems.
It is really hard to find information about the white matter disease, that actually makes sense. There are quite a few support groups though, which is something.
Hydrocephalus, as you say, his head is small, but it would explain his sickness. Did they say why his head hadn't swollen up?
It's a lot to take in isn't it?
I'm glad that Toby is in your hands, you are doing so much for him and taking such good care of him.
Give him a big hug from me when he gets home. And get some sleep.

jbadgirl · 15/05/2007 09:02

Yes its loads to take in especially as there are 65 different diseases to do with white matter and most are linked somewhere!
I spose its still early days and nothing is definate yet. I just need to wait for the appointment for the tests. Hope it will be when she said...w/c 28th may. Not sure how long for maybe a day, maybe overnight. At least they can do them all at once rather than prodding him and poking around on lots of occasions. The neurologist thinks the sickness is due to reflux at the moment but she said that hydro could be the reason also. She said that when he goes in for tests they will get a gut doctor to take a look to and see if we can sort this reflux out.
Had an ok night last night, woke a few times as it is very strange without little man but it was nice. Have so much to sort out today around the house!! How exciting!!

Biglips · 15/05/2007 09:07

wow jbad - my head is going dizzy reading ya post as alot is happening lately....gald you've got some sort of answer and will get a full answer soon. Had anyone had changed the LO's bedroom yet like jbads - ie painted? as my dds is still the same since she was 8 months but she aint complaining and NEITHER am i!!!

Thanks for your messages - thanks Cazzybabs - you wouldnt want them at the moment - had a terrible night on Sunday when all 4 of them were puking! DH has been suprisinglly helplful so a little bit of me feels perhaps all is not lost!

cazzybabs · 15/05/2007 19:42

Bit of pucking - yer maybe I'll stay away!

KathH · 15/05/2007 21:46

Sometimes it feels so much easier to tell you lot everything - if I tell my mum about me & dh she'll be a nervous wreck, if I tell my boss who's a really great friend she'll never be able to speak to dh again. Does that make sense?

cazzybabs · 15/05/2007 22:34

well who else would you tell Kath - do you not tell us everything????? It is a wierd thing - MN is a safe place (well this bit is) which means you can tell strangers things you wouldn't dream of telling friends (close or otherwise) or family.

maisiemog · 16/05/2007 15:48

Jbad not long to go before the tests. Poor old Toby, but he sounds as if he has a really great temperament for all the prodding. Big smiley head.
Hi Biglips - no we still co-sleep so it would have to be the whole 'family' room, that would have to be decorated. I don't think so.
Kath, poor you and the sicky children. Ooo! How do you manage??
I'm glad to hear that your DH is helping you - see he knows he has it good with you. It is hard to 'worry' your parents isn't it? I wonder if our children will be like that as well and not want to worry us?

Biglips · 16/05/2007 23:29

kathh - its best to get it off ya chest to talk about whats on ya mind as i do on here most of the time and i feel better. pls take a look the latest piccy of tweenie - she had a yoghurt on her nose!
