hiya maisie - keep trying about the time out but try and not in the room with him as if i did that.it would upset me as ive got a bit of a temper and also sensitive too (being a scorpion doesnt help??). i come back down stairs and have my own time out too to calm down

maisiemog · 04/02/2007 20:58

I'm doing the timeout as a kind of de-pressure thing so that he can calm down, rather than as a punishment. Kind of so he doesn't need to be punished, but for this approach, you are supposed to stay in the room.
It's part of the gentle discipline thing - to try to get him to understand how he can go away and calm down, hopefully he will be able to do this in the future, to chill out.
DP and DM took him up to the Royal Museum today, which he loved, but once again, I was amazed at all the little kids just walking along beside their parents, and NOT RUNNING AWAY! There was a little air-railway thing and Alfie was obsessed with it, but he was quite good at letting other children play, he only rammed one little girl's arm.
There was one little girl who was one thousand times rougher than Alfie. She was trashing those trains, it was so funny. Her dad kept saying 'come on Sophie, let's find your mum now' in a really nervous voice.

there is a piccy of DD on my profile in the snow this morning

Hope everyone is doing ok? DDs tooth is slowing coming back down - HOORAY!!.. and now and again she is putting sentences together but still a bossy bum!!

Lucky you Biglips! We had a little bit of snow overnight, but by about 11am it had all melted and it wasn't cold enough for anymore.
I really want to take Alfie out in the snow, but we haven't had snow in Edinburgh for a few years now. We get that kind that lies for about two hours after the sun comes up, so I could always go out at 4:00 am and build a tiny snowman. [rolls eyes in fed-up way]
Did Tweenie like the snow?
Do you have a sledge?

Biglips · 08/02/2007 19:58

no..no sledge as the snow was heavy in some areas but not outside mine as i was elsewhere when i took the photo. Tweenie loves it as was forever telling strangers "Its snowman outside" and pointing outside as we were in a shop she was meant to say "Its snowing outside" but i gave up!!

You will have to get one of those snow machine for over your house to get the feel

OP posts:
maisiemog · 08/02/2007 22:40

I knoooow! Snowmachine!!
When I told Alf about the snow (before he had looked out) he said 'snowmam' straight away. I think he was expecting a few snowmem, but all he got was about half a centimetre of snow at the edges of the pavement.
He has a picture of a snowmam in his Balamory annual. Does Tweenie like Balamory?
Alfie knows which colour house they all live in, I know the yellow house is Josie Jump and the pink house is Archie, but Alfie knows them all. He keeps telling me that 'Pum' lives in the white house.

Biglips · 08/02/2007 23:25

oh yes..its balamory, come outside esp pippin, toddworld (the new one on yellow cbeebies), fave is teletubbies -arrgghhh! & tweenies and loves all sci-fi's too esp War of the World (tom C) and all star wars !!

geogteach · 09/02/2007 11:41

Geog made a snowman yestaday with his friend, all the snow has gone now but the snowman is still there.
This afternoon i'm off to South Korea for my brothers wedding and leaving geog and his brother and sister with their dad for a week. Think i'd better go and pack and tidy up, can't really quite believe its happening

Biglips · 09/02/2007 15:26

wow....... geog - have a FAB time at the wedding...i wonder whats the weather is like over there?...how come hes getting married over there?? (me being nosey!!)

OP posts:
maisiemog · 09/02/2007 15:47

Have a great time Geog!!
Biglips, SNAP! Teletubbies here, except Alfie thinks they are called 'eh-ohs', but he loves them. He started telling me the sun is called 'sunbaby'. Funny boy.
And Come outside especially Pippin.
I thought he was asking for a peepee a while ago, but he kept saying it and eventually I realised he was saying Pippin. I was like 'I seee', definately didn't tell him the name, he just really likes Pippin.
I took him to a sandpit today (big mistake} but he loved it, especially making handprints and eating. Yummm!

Biglips · 09/02/2007 16:19

OP posts:
hotmama · 09/02/2007 20:34

Hi everyone.

Just letting you know that dd2 is 1 tomorrow - hasn't time sped by?

Dd1 is a right chatterbox (don't know where she gets that from!)

How is everyone doing?

I never keep up especially as I'm now back at work.

jbadgirl · 09/02/2007 21:03

I managed to upload a picture of Toby after searching for ages for the member profiles bit. Glad all are doing well. Toby is getting on well at school now but since his op he hasnt been sleeping too well but nevermind!

maisiemog · 09/02/2007 21:58

Hi Hotmama, glad to hear you are doing well.
Jbad - where is the members area these days - I can't seem to find it??
Maybe I'm barred from it.
Biglips - luckily I wasn't dealing with the poos, I'll have to ask DP. Oh he's fainted.

Biglips · 10/02/2007 10:20

jbad - theres no members profile thing anymore as you do it all on ya own profile - like mine

OP posts:
maisiemog · 11/02/2007 19:47

Jbad, how did Toby's Op go, was it a long procedure? Did you get to see him straight after?

maisiemog · 11/02/2007 22:28

Oo! Oo! I have just added Alfie's photos to my profile as well. I haven't made it completely open, so you have to click on my name then photos.
I have made you all mumsnet mates.
You are all my Mumsnet mates!
It's official.
Aren't we all nice.

Biglips · 12/02/2007 09:03

maisie - is that a recent piccy of alfie? as if yes had he had a haircut yet?..

mine still not had a haircut yet as atm all it needs is - 'snip' 'snip' 'snip' and its done!! - not much hair!

OP posts:
maisiemog · 12/02/2007 13:11

Heeheeeheeee! Alfie is a baldy! He is naturally like that!
If we cut his hair, he would only have skin.
I took the photos at the weekend.
He went swimming yesterday and peepeed in his pram on the way home.
This may have been a consequence of his drinking 50 gallons of swimming pool water. [rolls eyes]
I think DP would have put Alfie on the potty after swimming, but it's difficult enough to get him out of their suit, and dressed without getting everything all soggy on the changing room floor.
Apparently, somebody had already had a peepee on the changing room floor. Eeew!

jbadgirl · 12/02/2007 18:07

Tobys op was about 10 minutes long, but it took him ages to wake up properly. The theatre was cold as they hadnt turned up the heating so he had to be slow roasted after and must have gone into hibernate mode. We were allowed in to see him after about 45 mins and then we stayed in recovery for a while. He has recovered well but isnt back into any real routine so he is up lots overnight crying.
He has also had loads of changes, nursery, school and his op.

maisiemog · 12/02/2007 20:48

Oh that must have been awful waiting for 45 minutes. I was a very short op though.
Poor old thing getting so cold.
You must feel like me - knackered - with all the night waking and so on.
How is he getting on with the new feeding thing? Has he been weighed since?
I only work evenings, which means I'm quite late to bed, however, Alfie is quite an early riser, particularly with his back teeth bothering him.
Very tired mummmy!
What's the weather been like where you are??

KathH · 13/02/2007 20:43

Am deeply offended - I've been away for ages & no-one even noticed I'd gone (think they should have a symbol for Kath goes into the corner and sulks)

jbadgirl · 13/02/2007 21:20

Yes really knackered. He had lost weight then he put a little on and now he has lost again. He weighed 21lbs on monday. The feeding is going well, its all the other things like the constipation and reflux that are making him uncomfy i think. Its not like he can tell us either. He has slept a little better over the last 2 nights but woke last night. He did settle easier but he was in our bed so of course he would!!!!

Kath - I am totally not observant but glad your back. I always seem to leave it ages and then Im on here for a while then go again. Think its due to trying to sort toby out, clean and keep our house sort of tidy (if you can call it that!) and working full time!!

KathH · 13/02/2007 21:42

jbadgirl - hope you dont think my virtual sulk (dont think I've had one of those before was intended at you - I know you've had a lot on your plate. I cant believe how grown up Toby looks from his latest piccies!

maisiemog · 13/02/2007 23:55

Sorry! Kath who? [tries to smother giggle and keep a straight face]
I did wonder...
But I didn't want to make a fuss, make you feel guilty if you were very busy. Have you been doing anything interesting (unlike me)
I Did phone the police and they are looking for you, I will just phone them and cancel that then..
It's alright, she's back. Helicopter? Yeah better bring it back in, yeah, oh, and the dogs.
