OP posts:

Only had ONE trick or treater (not counting DH who gallantly donned a sheet when he came home from work to entertain DDs)...happens every year - I get a tonne of sweets in and hardly anyone calls. We're down a tiny cul-de-sac and don't get home from work until after 6 so we either miss them or they miss us. However, DDs had a fab time at their nursery party!
SR - not sure how slimming world works but how many points/black marks do I get for eating nearly the entire contents of a funsize chocolate pack?????LOL

Simplyred · 01/11/2006 13:53

Hello hello!

We have syns at Slimming World jammy and it sounds like you are having a flexible syn day!

Enjoyed halloween ds was very spooky as a vampire! I'm a vegetarian hippy!! off to hug a tree....

Aderyn · 01/11/2006 15:39

I'm back with a new name. Can you tell who I am yet? I have missed so much I'm sorry that it's too much to catch up on. We only got the phone back at the end of last week. 4 and a half weeks we were without a phone line. I think we'll be due a little compensation.

Alice is doing well (aha - has the penny dropped now?). I was so sad not to have been on here when all the birthdays were occurring.

Now Alice is 13 months old She's still a bottom-shuffler. She occasionally gets on her hands and knees or hands and feet but doesn't know what to do then. At least she weight bears now so that's one less worry. I see her on one knee and one foot and it looks like she may try to stand up sometime soon. We'll see.

She's becoming ever so vocal but still her only distiguishable word is "Look" She's still mostly very contended but when she's not happy you know about it. I would say this little girl will show her emotions for all to see.

When last she was measured she was 91st% for height! Some of the clothes which fit my eldest daughter last winter will fit Alice this winter. DD1 is the opposite end of the spectrum and rather petite.

DH and I got 2 nights away last week. We went to Somerset and left the girls with my parents. Alice did well for her first time overnight without me or DH. She's easily amused and settled.

She settled in with a childminder at the beginning of last month with no fuss at all. I found a great CM. 2 X mornings per week, at the same time as dd1 being in pre-school, Alice goes to the childminder whilst I come home and study. The CM works p/t at a nursery so is qualified and knows all her birth to 3 stuff already. She has an older dd at school. lic eis her only mindee at the moment and so Alice gets from the CM 2X4 hours of attention completely focused on her. She certainly doesn't get that at home. I'm so happy that it is working out well.

I hope everyone is well. I hope to catch up a little and be back to regular posting.

IdrisTheDragon · 01/11/2006 16:07

Hello

Very glad you are back - was wondering when your phone would be reconnected.

Glad to hear Alice is doing well - my Alice goes round with a combination of semi bottom shuffling and semi crawling (very fast and very funny to watch), going round on her little truck or cruising. The gaps she can cruise are getting bigger now. She occasionally tries to just walk (wants to do everything DS does) but this never works .

She and DS started going to a childminder (in fact two childminders - mother and daughter) just before her birthday and it is working out really well. The daughter has two children who are nearly 2 and 6 months and Alice and Benjamin are there 3 days a week. There are also two other little girls who are there one moring a week each. Everyone seems to have a good time .

mummygunpowdertreasonhill · 01/11/2006 16:18

Had a bad day today feel like a shit mother have spent all day at local hospital DS fell at the GP's surgery this morning and cut his forhead. The cut was as large as my thumbnail and very deep for where it was. I couldn't get over how much it bled. Not sure who was crying more him or me. I turned my back to pick his bag up and heard a thump and scream that could only be from D and ther he was lying in the floor when I picked him up I screamed when I saw the blood. Receptionist and GP were great got us both calmed down put a dressing on him and sent us up to the hospital where they did a more exensive patch job and kept him in for four and a half hours observation, they wanted 6 hrs but I neede to getdd from school so I had to promise to watch him like a hawk and take him back if anything happens.

WereWABBITT · 01/11/2006 16:55

Oh no MH what a shock for you both - you work weds too don't you? Oh I really feel for you - you're anything but a 'shit' mother! Look after yourself sweetie xx

Aderyin - Hello and great you're back fantastic that everythings going so well for you - I'm very of your home alone to study luxury! I can but dream!!! Just found out today that the paper I did manage to take over the summer was only one mark of a First [boastful emoticon] so I'm all fired up and excited that my studies aren't futile after all! (I thought I'd failed miserably! )

You're quick with a bonfire night name Jaamy! I'll have to really think hard for something...

Mummyhill {{{{Hugs}}}} for you and D

Simplyred · 01/11/2006 21:31

Oh no MH - what a terrible shock! Hope he quickly heals xx.

Afternoon!

How is everyone?

Rachel is the snot machine today!

mummygunpowdertreasonhill · 02/11/2006 13:53

D seems ok today. keeps worrying at the dressing which is concerning me but other than that is fine. He actually slept from 8 till 6 for the first time ever.

FIL however not so good just been rushed to hospital after taking all the tablets in the house in one go.

It never rains but it pours someone plese tell me it gets better than this.

Aderyn · 02/11/2006 14:18

MH {{{{{{{{Massive amount of hugs to you}}}}}}}}}}}

Poor you. I am sorry for all you are dealing with at the moment. I hope better times are ahead of you.

gunpowderjaamyandplot · 02/11/2006 18:19

Mummyhill - YOU ARE A GOOD MUMMY!!! We all have accidents. And if they never fell over or had a bump just think what nervous little people our los would be! D was more than likely investigating something or other that had caught his eye and considers the bump on his head well worth it! Hope your FIL is ok.
Hello Aderyn! Nice to see you back! Lovely to hear the update on Alice.
A is currently on antibs and steroid cream for bad eczema she has under her chin. Poor little mite itches it until it weeps. Must be soooo uncomfortable. Second dose of antibs so we're back to the doc in 10 days. May make use of DH's medical cover and get a referral to dermatologist. Other than that - everything hunky herre. Car fixed at only(!) £200 so at least will be able to afford some kind of CHristmas this year. Was worried that we were going to all be sitting round 1 turnip and a candle on Christmas day.
Hello sniff! Pop in on the Liverpool thread if you get chance - we're trying to sort out a Christmas meet up.
Off to rescue DDs from overindulgent Granny!

gunpowderjaamyandplot · 02/11/2006 18:23

Oh SR - A was snot machine too this am when she disappeared off to Granny's. Will shortly see whether I need wellies to wade through it or not! Hope Rachel not suffering with it.

mamamaaargh · 03/11/2006 03:34

Hello all

Been rather busy this week so haven't MNed for a while. MH, hope you and ds are ok - must have been very scary. Of course you are a good mummy but it's awful when the LOs get hurt - I always feel like an awful mother too, although I know these things happen. Head injuries are frightening too because they bleed so much. Hope he is healing well.

My ds is sleeping horribly so I'm exhausted- waking up 5-6 x per night. Last night involved 2 episodes of hour long screaming like an angry newborn. He even bit me when I was trying to hold him. In the end, I had to put him on the floor and let him get over whatever it was upsetting him by himself . Have noticed 2 new teeth this week so maybe that is it. And he has a cold, so that probably didn't help. Think we may need wellies here too jaamy. Drugged him with Calpol & Infacol this evening, just in case! Now who's the bad mother?

pooka · 03/11/2006 06:50

Mummyhill - Tom currently looks like he's been beaten with a blunt instrument. In one day he tripped straight onto the side of the coffee table (big long bruise on his head) then alsopitched straight into the corner of a small table (having, of course, previously removed all the corner protectors) and has massive black black bruise on his cheek. Then later on he was pulled out of his cot while my back was turned by dd who clearly didn't realise that carrying a baby in a grobag that weighs almost as much as her would have been a bit of a stretch. Cue carpet burn on his nose - thought for a moment that he'd broken his neck but he reassured me otherwise.
It's just bad luck - not bad mummy. (that's my mantra and I'm sticking to it.

mummygunpowdertreasonhill · 03/11/2006 17:10

Pooka sounds like you need a {{{{{hug}}}}} too.

FIL is physically ok as far as we are aware. He has been transfered to a psych unit and will be sataying there for assesmsnt and treatment.

Things are a litle hectic. Will post when I can.

Simplyred · 03/11/2006 21:49

Hello!

Hugs to all it not been the best of days from the sound of it xxxx

wabbitt · 03/11/2006 22:52

Oh MH I'm at a Childminding course all day tomorrow - but if you want a chat on Sunday or Monday feel free xxx

Pooka - your poor little battle scarred Tom.. he sounds fabulously adventurous though Conrad's a bit of a pouff in comparison! (only I would get away with saying that - if anyone else dared they'd have short thrift from a very angry Wabbit!)

Mamama - your little man is suffering so with his teeth... sounds like that's what it is though and his having a cold at the same time is so familiar - C's immune system seems to go out of the window when he's teething.
Hope you get some sleep soon x
I'm going to start an e-mail tonight but will probably have to finish tomorrow as there's so much to say... apologies for not replying yet

ExP's been over again - urgh he's just off the scale with his lies, I'll not bore you all with the details but it was the ugliest scene yet... ending with me ordering him out of the house - I really, really hope that's the last I see of him but sadly doubt it I was a fool to say he could come here again - believing he had any vestage of decency. Someone give me a slap!

SR - lol @ Snot Machine

mamama · 04/11/2006 01:39

It sounds as though we're all having problems atm. Hope things pick up for us all very soon

Pooka, love the bad luck not bad mummy mantra. Am adopting that one now although am not sure it can apply to somehow allowing DS to fall out of his car seat onto the road! That was a very scary one! Hope Tom is looking a bit better - DS always seems to be covered in scratches & bruises just in time for his check-ups. Am sure they wonder what I do to him!

Hope things are ok Wabbit - sounds like things have been a bit tough recently.

{Hugs} to everyone who needs them!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 04/11/2006 11:04

HI, my ds has been driving me batty and i need some support!
Last night he was up for hours tossing and turning and screaming til he projectile vomited.
he's got a cold (his 5th in 3 months) and i think he's teething but again that has been going on for months now with no sign of the effing molars.
i even tried medised for the first time last night with high hopes. Hahahaha. we ended up spending an hour in the shower cause that was the only place he would relax and stop screaming.
he finally fell asleep at 1:30am. and then of course was up at 7:30 this morning.
this is so fun. wait i mean this is NO fun.

mummygunpowdertreasonhill · 04/11/2006 12:02

Hi purplemonkeydishwasher sounds like you are in need of a huge mumsnet {{{{hug}}}}.

I assume that you have tried neurofen and ice lollies for the teething. I agree it's no fun when they are teething.

Although the tossing, turning and projectile vomitting sounds like something else. Could he have a tummy bug? Often a shower or a warm bath will help relax the stomach muscles which could be why he settled in the shower.

It is so hard to know what's wrong/what they want or need at this age and then when they start talking they do so much of it we want them to be quiet LOL. Every time I have to give ds medicine dd lines up and tells me I need some to I have a poorly............

I hope his teeth come through soon. Keep posting though and we will help all we can.

Simplyred · 04/11/2006 16:14

Hello!

Hello purplemonkeydishwasher I'm so sorry you had such a terrible night - is he sleeping well today to catch up? Mummyhill knows her stuff - I'd agree with the tummy ache - probably trapped wind that staryed to clear with the sickness and soothed by the warm shower. Bless him....

Just been clearing out my wardrobe - alarmed by the number of black jumpers I own and I dont wear! Obviously a closet goth!

Doing Rachel's wardrobe next!!!!

mamama · 05/11/2006 01:16

What an awful night, purplemonkeydishwasher. Hope things get better. When my ds had an awful night of screaming, the Infacol worked wonders. Or at least, it made me feel better and he didn't cry the following night when I gave it to him. Might be worth a try.

LOL @ Closet goth! I've just shipped a load of rarely worn clothes back to the UK. Would probably have been better getting rid of them, but I can always justify keeping them for some reason!

Simplyred · 05/11/2006 08:51

Morning
Hope all little people are sleeping well. It was very loud here last night with fireworks - but Rachel was very good and slept through.

Dh's been on the telly this morning - he went on the cisco world challenge in Austria a few weeks ago, and a programme was on channel 4 at 7.55 about the running, biking, canoeing etc they had to do!!

DD was rather confused by his mug appearing on the tv when she was sat with him - she was doing a double take!!
