Thread to share the newborn news and support each other through the 'eeek what do I do?' When the baby gets home and you stare at it in the car seat and think - help!!

So hubbie's family was meant to be here at 3.30pm.
It's now 4.20pm
I've missed my nap and haven't had a chance to express and he wonders why I am grumpy.

I'm about to burst into tears

Kirstipops · 25/10/2014 16:38

Raaage Missus :( if they're going to mess you about then you should go on now and express and nap, hell mend them for their thoughtlessness.

Grannyapple · 25/10/2014 16:51

It was me kirstipops..mine are hurting now & getting a toe curling so I need to take my own advice & get hubby to go get some for me.

But you'll be pleased to know that I think I've reached my limit at 3 Grin

Kirstipops · 25/10/2014 17:23

Thank fk Granny bwahahaha!

fedupofrainydays · 25/10/2014 17:58

Just went to boots - they didn't have any jelonet - help!

Fedup that's exactly why I have t sterilised any bottles! I know one night I'll crack open some formula and will regret it. I loved bf ds1 and was gutted when he had to stop. But I remember it does get easier

gunwalloe · 25/10/2014 19:16

I've been to boots Asda and tesco and none of them had the jelonet :(
I'm going to order it from amazon

Missus2ndwife · 25/10/2014 19:44

Real tears have been shed. I'm so angry I can barely speak but wanted to ask about this Fullers Earth I've been reading all you lovelies mentioning

Do you use the powder and how do you apply it?

fedupofrainydays · 25/10/2014 20:27

The elusive jelonet! I have two more shops to try tomorrow.

missus are you ok?? I use the cream. Bought it off ebay. It's really good.

YellowWellies · 25/10/2014 20:42

Missus I use the powder - I just dust it on a dry cleaned bum, it disappears with use but basically it works by making sure the skin is totally dry - nappy rash is caused as much by the moisture as the acidity of urine. I only use it when her bum is bad.

bump make sure it's all completely dry before you put it on. But am sure you are doing that. Sorry to hear it has got worse. Maybe try to powder. The cream worked for us though.

I would keep trying to leave the nappy off for periods of time to get air to it.

We are changing bubba's soiled nappies all the time and today his bum is looking very red. I've applied Waitrose's botty butter (have weleda too) but am now thinking maybe this Fullers earth powder might be what we need. Choices. Choices.

Fedup - I'm fine. Hubby just being very unfair with not helping, throwing visitors & his family on me when I should have been napping or expressing milk. I'm exhausted and we've had no time to ourselves because we have his family here EVERY DAY ??

YellowWellies · 25/10/2014 21:00

Try a warm setting hair dryer on sore bums to totally dry it.

YellowWellies · 25/10/2014 21:03

Any nappy cream will make the rash worse if the skin its applied to is even slightly damp.

fedupofrainydays · 25/10/2014 22:21

Anyone else dread bed time? It's just knowing i am going to be up for hours trying to stay awake while my baby pulls my nipples apart and the screams when I try and put him down.. Hmm. So here we again..

OP posts:
Me23 · 25/10/2014 22:27

Hugs fedup I know exactly how you feel, it's the same here. Baby usually awake from 10-3am sucking constantly. With me trying not to fall asleep holding her and feeling at my wits end and drained..physically and mentally.

Sorehead · 25/10/2014 22:38

fedup and Me23- I also dread bed time. Not knowing whether or not it's going to be a sleepless night (and being 98% certain it is!)

We visited some family today but have a whole host of people who want to visit tomorrow so I can pretty much guarantee tonight will be the worst yet, especially with the extra hour! If anyone tells me I look tired tomorrow.....Angry.

Hopefully we all have better nights than expected, and if not Brew all round!

binkybunny · 25/10/2014 23:11

fedup I had dh check down there, it's not my stitches that are sore, it's my bum, so pleased as I'm paranoid about getting an infection again. Feeling lots better tonight have been sat on a ring cushion all day.

Sorry to all having sleepless nights, I'm struggling to sleep even though we are sharing feeds. I'm having hot sweats and nightmares Sad.

FlipFantasia · 25/10/2014 23:13

Fedup, Me have you tried co sleeping? Or at least feeding lying down? Sitting up feeding makes my arms ache but feeding lying down is much more relaxing for me - I don't actually sleep when dd2 is nursing but at least I'm more rested (and I then sleep once she's asleep and I detach her).

Missus2ndwife · 25/10/2014 23:28

We just celebrated the one week birthday of our bubba.
I had a glass of water & bubba had another bottle - that's the 2nd in 1.5hrs.

Hugs to all of us with the long night ahead. At least we are not alone.

Yellow thanks for all the top tips. We're really lucky to have you on this thread xx

binkybunny · 25/10/2014 23:40

missus are you ff? Our lo is 1 week tomorrow and her milk intake has increased so much today. She's just had 120ml and still seems to be wanting more. I don't want to give her too much but don't want to leave her hungry? The mw told us she should be drinking about 60ml Shock.

binkybunny · 25/10/2014 23:42

Sorry missus just remembered you said you were expressing. Anyone else that can shed light?

It's our first night without my parents and I'm feeling a bit out of my depth Confused

Missus2ndwife · 25/10/2014 23:48

Yes Binky I am are you??? I have no milk (trying to encourage milk supply by expressing but not improving yet). He's had 120ml with these 2 feeds alone. Saying that, for most of the day he's been feeding every 1.5hrs vs 3hrs feeds and I thought I'd messed up during last night's lack of sleep/ over feeding

Missus2ndwife · 25/10/2014 23:50

And binky, I had cold shivers and hot sweats last night. I thought I was seriously ill
