has anyone else been hit in their face more in the time since having children than the rest their whole life? This weekend alone i have been smacked with a very hard plastic doll kicked in the head whilst playing. Ran into the wall whilst playing amd also smacked my head on a piece of wood.

Barbeasty · 28/09/2014 20:16

Headbutted, definitely. And all the random bruises. A made the mistake of hitting the baby room leader at nursery the other week- thankfully she thought it was completely out of character. I wish it was!

utopian99 · 28/09/2014 20:30

Thankfully not much hitting here but I am dragon mother when it comes to that. He did throw a spoon at dfil today though Blush - not through temper but inappropriate idea of what constitutes 'fun games'. Cue major telling off, but he did then apologise.

Are we the only ones who still sit in his room while he falls asleep? Wondering when to try moving to next stage - o.e. walking out after saying goodnight. Sort of hoping to crack it before dc2 arrives but have a sinking feeling we won't.

PurplePidjin · 28/09/2014 20:44

Utopian I'm dragon mummy too, but he's ramping things up now he's approaching 2 and we're getting more boundary testing, even tantrums Shock

Ds does full on throwing himself on the flow kicking tantrums. I just explain why he can't do/have what he wants, what he can do instead and that he can have a cuddle when he's ready then leave him to it. He always gives me a cuddle afterwards.

ddas · 28/09/2014 20:49

utopian nope dd still likes us to have our hands on her as she falls asleep. Ds at this age was happy for us to say night night and walk out. Think it's partially down to personality as dd has always been more of a cuddle monster. We've adjusted our bedtime routine in that ds now either lies on me whilst I sit next to her cot with my hand on her or he snuggles with his duvet on the sofa in her room whilst I do it. He's generally asleep before her and then I transfer him to his bed asleep.

WLmum · 28/09/2014 21:54

I came down with a cold and af - guess that's why my reserves were so low. Wasn't that pleased by a 3am boob call (unusual) and a 5am toilet visit announcement (sadly a nightly occurrence).
utopian I always say night night and walk out. Occaisionally I have to pop back in to settle but generally she goes straight off on her own.
hales the only time T is violent to me is when she kicks during nappy changes. She pulled a handful of hair out of dd2s head yesterday and kept trying to go back for more. She really loves dd2 but can be v jealous of her. Nappy changes have got so tricky I now have to put her in her cot bare arsed and threaten to leave her there. When I'm about half way down the stairs she calls out and I go back and say are you ready to get your nappy on now and she says yes. Naughty baby!

halestone · 28/09/2014 22:19

The Majority of hits to my head are purely accidental, she is a very accident prone girl she can fall over whilst standing still. We don't really have as much of a problem with het being violent anymore we think that hopefully it was a stage she went through. Although when she loses her temper the fallout is tremendous.

Utopian we still cuddle to sleep and then transfer her into her cot. I'm hoping to leave her in her cot and put her to sleep that way soon. I just really enjoy our huggles (her word) as she falls asleep.

halestone · 28/09/2014 22:24

WL we find in the day, that we can get H to put a nappy/knickers on easily if we say someone else is coming to put them on, we do it getting her dressed as well. She is desperate to put them on before someone else does.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/09/2014 06:12

Ds lies down and points to his willy when he's had a wee so we can change him. He hates getting dressed though and kicks lots! At night time I put him in his cot, asks if he wants a kiss (to which he shakes his head) then start to walk away. He goes 'maaaa' and I ask if he'd like a kiss, he nods and then smooches through the bars of his cot and lies back down then I leave Grin

Barbeasty · 29/09/2014 08:06

We leave A to go to sleep, but we leave DD with him (they share a room) so I'm guessing that's cheating!!

A hits family, kicks me when I change him, still occasionally tries to bite.... nothing to anyone else though. This morning he pulled down the strap of my pyjama top, pulled it on down until he could see my nipples and then I can only describe what he did as leering, with his tongue out and a grin. When DH took him to put his coat on there was screaming and shouting of "cuddle".

WLmum · 29/09/2014 12:47

spotty smooching through the bars sounds cute

MrsNutella · 29/09/2014 16:37

Hello all.
DS has shared his snot and given DD his cold. Poor little lamb.
DS is at turns jealous and loving of DD. He gets upset when she cries and likes to try and help at nappy changes.

Beasty that made me laugh. DS has suddenly become interested in my boobies, because they're constantly out feeding dd. He points to my nipples and says "booah booah". It's as close to boobies as he can manage.

I was going to write more but I've been distracted by the DC Smile

halestone · 29/09/2014 21:23

Nutella, I hope your Dd is feeling better soonThanks

Me and Dp are having a baby free night tonight and have just been out for a meal, it was amazing Grin

FrazzledFandango · 29/09/2014 22:06

I am on the verge of losing my shit. It's 10 o fucking clock and DS is still up, crawling around my bed, alternating between wailing and kicking me in the fucking womb.

I'm about to make him live under the stairs like harry potter, but I fear its not far enough away and I'd still hear his screeching.

Aaaaaaargh, I'm raging!

WLmum · 29/09/2014 22:57

frazzled is frazzled! Poor you, I hate it when they're like that. I honestly think the only solution is to watch telly with a glass of wine read books for a bit and try again afresh, but I'm always afraid that it will start a bad habit. Is he poorly? Too much day sleep? Or just being a pita? Fx you're both asleep now.

T did the school run dressed as Snow White, with her dressing gown and snow boots on top! Whatever doesn't cause a tantrum!

FrazzledFandango · 29/09/2014 23:12

Too much day sleep, house too hot boiling due to heating malfunction, unexpected visit from grandad to fix said heating and head to toe rash which I'm hoping is gone by morning or nursery wont take him.

Plus it's our second night in our new house.

Right old recipe for disaster. He's asleep in off to bed.

Well wishes to all the poorly babies.

Hope you're having a great night Hales.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/09/2014 05:39

Hales that sounds amazing! Hope you had a good night.

WillYou is the worst when they're like that. I've walked out the house before but obv you can't do that...he will get used to the knew house and routines soon enough.

WL ds wore dd's wooly hat and took a buggy and dolly on the school run (in the car!) the other day. It was fine until we had to get back in the car to come home Hmm

halestone · 30/09/2014 11:36

I have just woke up Grin, i'm going to get dressed and go and pick H up. We managed to watch Dawn of the Planet of the Apes last night in total peace it was a brilliant nighy.

Frazzled, i hope tonight is a better night for you.

Spotty that sounds so cute, we had to take H's huge teddy bear everywhere yesterday, its bigger than her haha.

FrazzledFandango · 30/09/2014 11:46

Yay, glad you had a lovely lie in Hales.

Ds slept 10:30-7:30 so I can live with that. He's really got it on him at the minute though.

His favourite tantrum trick is to stamp off sobbing, return with his shoes, throw them both on the floor in a strop and then look at me pointedly. It has the opposite effect from making me feel bad and I end up Grin

Barbeasty · 30/09/2014 12:30

A will scream "No", then run away- always to the same corner in the kitchen, where I can easily catch him.

Bless!

utopian99 · 30/09/2014 14:47

O's tantrums mainly involve lying down on the floor in classic stroppy toddler style. I put a soft thing under his head and leave him there - annoys him no end but they do end pretty fast!

Glad things are better this morning frazzled, we had a fluke lie in till 7.15 - that's a full hour later than he normally wakes up. Shock

We're having a toddler-free night in a couple of weeks, our first and only before baby 2 arrives. VERY exciting though!

PurplePidjin · 30/09/2014 17:29

R's tantrums tend to be him doing something he knows he shouldn't (out of character for him) till I get near enough to realise he needs either a nappy change or a biscuit rice cake. Hoping the language hurries up and he makes the connection soon!

We've had several successes on the toilet and potty though this week

Glad there was some sleep to be had.
Hoorah little pidj man.
Super jealous of nights without smalls - I really want to spend a childless day with DH - got a mountain biking date in mind but I don't feel I can ask our parents to have them any more than they already do for work.

halestone · 01/10/2014 11:26

I've had an awful argument with DP this morning, both of us have said things we shouldn't of and hes now left. I'm not sure where things are going to go from here and i don't want to say anything to people IRL as i don't want the judgements to begin.Sad
