Spotty tell us more about how you explained the gro clock to DS?

Nuts I hope DS is ok :(

SpottyTeacakes · 01/11/2014 09:41

I just showed him the sun and we waves goodnight to it and I told him it wasn't time to get up until the sun came up. When he woke early I showed him that the sun wasn't up yet. It's only set for 6am and we will gradually change it.

Barbeasty · 01/11/2014 11:28

A has been with a duvet and pillow for a while now. He hated the sleeping bag, and for ages refused to have anything- just slept in his pyjamas. As the weather got colder he started using the duvet.

Last night was a success. He stayed in bed once he was settled. I opened the gate at about 6.30, while DH made me a cup of tea, and A wondered in about 15 minutes later.

When I took him up to get dressed this morning he giggled and threw himself on his bed.

We'll have to see how he does tonight when DD is back and they share.

Barbeasty · 01/11/2014 18:41

So, DD is asleep in the spare room, after A kept getting books and getting into her bed to read them! A is not sleeping... Fx he goes off soon.

PurplePidjin · 01/11/2014 19:08

Good luck Beasty

R decided at 7:30 last night that he wouldn't sleep in the dark Hmm luckily my parents have a spare nightlight so I've nicked that and taken the blackout off his windows. I'm not really comfortable leaving the reading lamp on all night especially as I'd probably forget to turn it off in the morning but this one is a 7w bulb and has a sensor so it goes off in the light. Although opening the curtains after nap time did precisely sod all Hmm

Pidj I sympathise! All I can add is WHHHHYYYYYY!!!!!!!! argh. They do drive us nuts quite spectacularly don't they?!
DS was running around like a madman today while we were trying to pick up a few bits for him to have as cheap nursery clothing. We were only shopping for an hour tops but it still seemed like we had embarked on an epic task. Confused

Barbeasty · 02/11/2014 11:24

A cried in the night and when DH went to see why a little voice piped up from DD's bed to say A fell out of bed. Made DH jump!

Apparently once A fell asleep DD had decided to climb over the stairgate so she could sleep in her own bed.

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2014 12:03

Despite 5 wees on the potty/toilet this morning, we still ended up with a wet car seat on a 10 minute journey Hmm think I need to stop him having a cup of (decaf) tea with his breakfast! Still, we have brisket in the slow cooker from the farm shop, dp is just back from a nice long run, and I braved B&Q to get a bolt, hasp, security chain and hinge for R's kitchen to go with the light switch - I'm going to put a "busy board" bit between the "hob" and the "sink". Would you like a pic on fb?

Nut it's the guilt over not figuring it out quick enough for me. If only I worked out what he was trying to tell me, I'd save both of us a lot of upset Sad

Beasty that's cute, I was half expecting to read that they'd got in together tbh :)

Pidj i'm glad to read that you let R have Decaf Tea. We give H Decaf Tea or Coffee and people always looked shocked even when i explain its Decaf. And yes i would like a picture on facebook.

Beasty that does sound lovely.

We went to Blackpool Illuminations last night and we all had a brilliant time. Everyone had a really good sleep last night after their baths.Grin

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2014 13:08

My mum's given him the regular stuff (haven't given him coffee at all yet) to no ill effect so I think he's grown out of the caffeine thing :) I get funny looks at playgroup when I ask for water instead of chemically synthetic orange squash. He was 10 months old the first time he was offered it Hmm

Blackpool Illuminations is on my bucket list :o

My dad isn't allowed much caffiene due to his health problems. So we swopped coffee and tea to caffiene free to help lower his intake. When i moved to my own house in June i decided to carry on using the caffiene free version as me and Dp drink onky cold drinks so knew my dad would be the main drinker. H has always helped my dad finish his drinks. She has alot of different herbal teas as well rather than squash. Although she has had squash and fruit shoots.

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2014 17:25

I let R have the squash last time we went, he refused to drink it. Likes chamomile and builders tea though :o i don't buy fruitshoots and I usually have a drinks bottle for him on me anyway so that hasn't really come up yet. I imagine it's different with an older, verbal child who asks for stuff like that and the younger sibling wants to copy?

left the house at 7:10 this morning to pick my boss up from manchester airport. Its normally a 40 minute drive and i got home at 10am. I felt like i had been in my car forever.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/11/2014 12:05

I'm drenched. Had to put my pyjamas on when I got in and dd's coat is currently dripping on the kitchen floor.

Maryland2013 · 03/11/2014 13:06

Hales is that because of the bus lane traffic on the East Lancs? Sounds horrific!!
DS drinks mostly water and milk. He occasionally has my watered down squash or fresh juice but out of a cup. I can't tell you how many toddlers I see drinking squash/ come out of babies bottles!!!

SpottyTeacakes · 03/11/2014 13:09

Ds only has water or milk unless we are out and dd wants a fruit shoot in which case he has to have one too!

halestone · 03/11/2014 14:10

No Maryland, the M6 was going about 5mph i managed to do about 5 minutes of 70mph on the M56 and then hit traffic again Sad

Spotty its lovely up here no sign on rain yet, but it rained alot this weekend.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/11/2014 14:14

Rained lots here too! I can finally see some blue sky. Dd is under the weather with a temp and cough so probably no school tomorrow as they've got a trip can't risk her feeling unwell.

halestone · 03/11/2014 15:36

Hope Dd is feeling better soon SpottyThanks

My boss has just phoned me to go round to her house and when i got there she had loads of presents for me and my family. She had brought H and my Niece the cutest Chinese dresses. They look lovely in them.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/11/2014 15:39

That's so nice hales Smile dd's temp seems to have gone?!

I've accidentally taught ds to say bum Blush whilst snacking dd's bum

PurplePidjin · 03/11/2014 16:03

Quite impressed ds ate my spinach and cauliflower curry tonight plus a popadom and mint raita. I didn't think he would like it!

MaMaPo · 03/11/2014 21:12

C only had water and milk though I think her grandmother gives her juice because she definitely knows the word and gets excited when she sees it! She gets none from us though.

Lovely beachy holiday with friends (not quite warm enough for swimming yet - maybe today). I feel awful though - my lovely grandfather is ill and the family have decided to withdraw treatment. He's 94 and very unwell so to treat would be to delay the inevitable. I'm trying to work out whether to go to NZ to see him or for the funeral. Can't make up my mind.

On the plus side I had a glorious trip to see him and introduce him to C to him a couple of months ago. He loved it. I'm so so glad we went.
