Hope things get better figgy!
We are having a real push to sort our our house "stuff": DS needs a proper wardrobe so has inherited DD2's kiddy one and much shuffling about/sorting clothes is to commence! Honestly, they just keep growing, don't they. I hate the feeling of drowning in piles of things, it all needs going through so often. Most of the DCs clothes are a combo of hand me downs and sale items with the addition of supermarket top ups, school uniform and online retailers starting with E... How do parents clothe their offspring entirely in designer goods? Just how??? We're not badly off, but who actually pays £50 for a Monsoon dress or £20 for a Boden T shirt for a 3 year old?!?!

Figster · 25/01/2015 16:22

Gah lost a long post ......

The long and short if it was.....

Dh has apologised and recognised the need to be more patient with DS. I'm just easy to anger at moment as AF has been going for a week now after being 6 days late and 2 days of spotting it feels endless Hmm ttc once it's over so frustrated it's not buffeting off Angry

Aethel we bought ds in mountain warehouse last weekend - long sleeve shirt £2.99 RRP £12.99, fleece £12.99 RRP £39.99 and an awesome waterproof coat £14.99 RRP £49.99 can't believe they ever sold at those prices.

Been out for a roast dinner this afternoon after long walk ds slept through the 45 minute wait for good which worked out v v well Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 25/01/2015 22:03

Glad things cheered up figgy, sounded bloody stressful. Is your DH still being a bit grumpy overall, or is it just work? Glad he's on board for ttc though.

I have no idea how you manage with clothing three aethel, it's frightening enough to do it with just one. Our parents help out a bit, as they enjoy it, but then we just get the basics from supermarkets/cheaper chain stores, and then one 'posh' item each time we move up an age group (so a nice little shirt for DS generally). The next one will be wearing nothing but hand me downs until at least 2!

Have done piles of housework between us: cleaned bathrooms, kitchen, dusted, ironed, tidied, hoovered, etc. Had a lovely day with friends going to the park, with their diddy, tiny little toddler: she's on the 0.2 centile, and 18 months ish, and so is half DS's size and gorgeous. Kind of what my imaginary child looked like before DS arrived... Grin

DS has horrible cough so we've cancelled all plans and built a blanket fort. Watching Fireman Sam on the kindle and having a picnic.

This is the life!

NorthernChinchilla · 27/01/2015 19:06

How's he doing hop?

DS was apparently impressing pre-school with his knowledge of octogons... DP did fess and say it came from Sarah and Duck Grin !

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 27/01/2015 20:46

Love Sarah and Duck.

he's ok, still coughing but much happirry. Had a few poo accidents today but he's swallowed loads of mucous so he's got green slimy poo (sorry!) we're just staying upbeat about it and hoping we'll be back to normal soon.

mopsytop · 28/01/2015 09:22

I must admit to buying some dresses in John Lewis along with all Minimopsy's coats so far. They are such good quality. But they're being passed on to my sister's little girl and I'm getting the hand me downs from her little boy in return. But t-shirts, tights, vests, knickers etc are cheapy ones. Have tried Sainsburys stuff a few times but it always shrinks in the wash so it isn't worth it. As for designer stuff I just don't get why you'd bother for a child. Tbh I don't really get it full stop. If it is properly gorgeously made stuff it is one thing but just buying labels for the sake of the label I don't get. I loved Boden stuff for kids but it is ridiculously expensive but sometimes in the sale you can get really good bargains so Minimopsy has a few things from there.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 28/01/2015 10:07

We have a few Boden bits, I find the trousers for boys really nice and colourful and very hard wearing (especially the cords). Now DS has stopped growing quite as fast, I can justify spending a bit more in his clothes. I find the Boden t-shirts have a tendency to fade and go wrinkly in the wash though.

NorthernChinchilla · 29/01/2015 07:40

We've got some M&S vouchers to spend on DS, probably get some jeans and t-s.

Forgot to say, our Tower of London poppy arrived this week Smile , smeared in authentic Tower mud! The indication is that you're meant to have it outside, but think we'll have it displayed inside for safety, given DS's love of hurtling about....

mopsytop · 29/01/2015 17:04

Been getting some quotes for decorating our house. Eeeek! Going to be so expensive. The whole f-img house is painted over wallpaper so the main cost is paying for that to be taken down and reskimming the walls and several ceilings. But all our savings will be gone which is a scary thought. On the other hand, it will be lovely to have a nice house and it will feel way more like our home.

Figster · 30/01/2015 13:39

Mopsy we can't decide between redecorating and a small extension or moving house.

Ds was moaning before swimming of a sore tummy but I made him go anyway now he's lolling on top of me yawning saying he's tired ....lurgy alert!! I have a feeling I may see the lunch he's just wolfed down again. We have a playdate at 3 Confused what to do what to do!!

mopsytop · 30/01/2015 13:45

Bunker down with lots of towels in front of tv? We are basically snowed in :(

mopsytop · 30/01/2015 13:48

Wrt decorating/ extension vs moving, hmm. Both stressful. Moving very expensive too. Depends how much you like where you are I guess. I LOVE our new house and area (only down the road from our old house... Less than a mile but closer to town and parks) but it will feel much more 'ours' once decorated I think. Will be worth it. Just v scary using all our savings. But I suppose that's what they're Dr!

mopsytop · 30/01/2015 13:48

For not Dr!!

Figster · 30/01/2015 13:58

He's not even whining for the tv uh oh!!

I think we'd stay in the same area of we moved but just a bigger house ideally less estate house but even basic 4 beds needing redecorating or a new bathroom are £300k round here now and with dh hitting 40 soon neither of us want a huge mortgage. The 3rd bedroom currently is too small for realistic living we thinking about a 2 story extension but not sure of cost have a architect friend coming to give us his view on what could be done. As it's corner plot the previous owners had planning permission for a extension for 2 more bedrooms em suites, extended kitchen etc not got the guys for all that!!

Figster · 30/01/2015 13:59

Ah he's asleep that's why he is so quiet!!

mopsytop · 30/01/2015 14:07

Enjoy the peace while it lasts figgy... Sounds like you might have a disturbed night! Mopsyboy had his first jabs Wednesday and I was up most of the night, he was very restless and quite hot. Then nursery was closed cps of snow so had Minimopsy at home and no chance to get a nap. Still tired. Thank goodness Mopsyboy is generally so chilled. Only getting up once or twice a night for an hour at most. Is amazing. Didn't know babies could be this relaxed!

PartTimeProcrastinator · 30/01/2015 18:48

DS finally seems to be better after his stomach bug. GP called today to say the infection has to be notified to department of health and they will be in touch to try to establish where it might have been caught from! Random child can't just get a 24hour bug
like everyone else.

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 30/01/2015 19:24

DS has been a bit miserable and have found two suspicious looking spots on his leg. We're back with family for the weekend, this better not be bloody pox because then all plans will have to be cancelled.
DH driving me insane recently with work stuff and general stroppyness with DS, plus fucking everyone is pregnant at the minute and I'm just having a bad PMT week. Blurgh.

Figster · 30/01/2015 20:49

Hop hasn't boi got the pox? Hope it isn't that for you!!

Well ds woke from his nap saying he was fine as he wanted to go see his friends within an hour he was a state lolling all over me, he didn't want any dinner and then was asking for his bed at 6.30 so safe to say he wasn't faking.

NorthernChinchilla · 30/01/2015 22:14

Wondered where Oi was, is she nursing a pox'd BOi then? Sounds dubious as well figster, does sound like he's coming down with something....really hope it's nothing major.
Sounds like a lot to consider ref the house/moving; guess it comes down to how much you like your current house and location. With ours, I'd be happy to stay here and think if we're still here in 5-7 years we'll get the loft properly done out and if a great aunt I didn't know existed could leave me an inheritance that would help

But it does sound like a haz mat suits weeks, what's been wrong with DS PTP, what on earth has he had that needs DoH informing? I know some of the more memorable food poisoning ones, and isn't it campobactyler (I have no idea of the spelling) that need reporting? Either way, hope he's feeling better.

And hope your DS doesn't have the pox either hop! I feel guilty having complained about DS's vomming session compared to all of this.... I am also fairly sure AF is about to start, so will try again next month. Wish this tiredness were early pregnancy stuff, rather than a month's worth of working late plus DS waking at 3.30am Confused

PartTimeProcrastinator · 31/01/2015 08:22

Its cryptosporidium he's got apparently, I've never heard of it before. Although he's fine again now so all good!

Hope all the other poorly DCs are feeling better soon.

Figster · 31/01/2015 09:05

Hmm slept until 8.30 after waking up a few times on the night hes spoken endlessly about dragons eating his fingers and his bum and that he is going to throw his pants at it and kill it or I have to shoot it with a gun ?? he's away to eat breakfast so he seems better.

Dh gone to work it's raining out so think we will go to ground today make sure ds is ok then family day out tomorrow.

Ptp I have heard of that any idea where he got it from?

NorthernChinchilla · 31/01/2015 16:27

Ooh, I think it was that my friend got when she was working in an orphanage in Nepal PTP but guess your DS hasn't been doing that! Sounds tough, glad he's in the mend.

Hiya! fell off thread due to nothing more exciting than a prolongued cold, all three DC and myself. Now DH has got it (cue much snuffling and exclaimations of fatigue).
With regard to three and clothing - just drop standards. If it's clean(ish) hole free and vaguely fits, then they wear it. Most things are a combo of pass-ons, supermarket oh-we-need-those and ebay new or seconds.
It's a bit like doing a supermarket shop- you can't possibly get it all in one go, so one week you check everyone has enough pants that fit (and buy more if needed). Next week you look at everyone's jumpers. Week after you check their trouser numbers. eventually you get back to pants and start again!!!!
