Mopsy it's a soft play party no mess no fuss cake and chocolate Santa on the way out ...done Grin

Chips1999 · 16/12/2014 16:17

I think DS has got 18 kids coming to his party, I did see one of the nursery mums and she asked when she needed to let me know as I hadn't put an RSVP by date on the invite?!

There seems like lots of kids but a lot are siblings and he has nursery and two different playgroups that we go to regularly.

I've figured out where DS's bolshy behaviour is coming from...it's the pre-school group at nursery. I watched them at the Christmas party and there's a little group of them who are a year older and DS talks about them a lot and although he doesn't play with them he's definitely copying them! Quite funny now I know it's not just having a new baby in the house!

DD is still being good, the last few days she does seem to have been wide awake and grumpy in the evenings until about 1am. I hope she will sleep between her last evening feed and before the early hours of the morning feed soon so I can grab a couple of hours sleep too!

Faffin · 16/12/2014 19:52

DS birthday today. We had a little party at home on Sunday which went well. Just 8 kids (should have been one more but she was poorly) so it was fine to do at home. We did a dinosaur treasure hunt, pin the tail on the donkey, musical bumps and statues, pass the parcel, and (my favourite) sleeping lions. DD was very good at that so I now know what to do if I ever want some peace and quiet! It'll probably be the first and last party at home though - as soon as he wants to invite more kids than that it can become someone else's problem to organise and clean up after!

DS went to nursery today because DH at work and DD at school, but we picked him up early and DH came home early so he opened presents from us this evening. All went down well fortunately. I'd been a bit concerned about the bday presents because he's asked Father Christmas for all the best things!

Chips1999 · 17/12/2014 06:03

Ahh sounds lovely faffin!

Just as I thought I was never going to get DD settled and that I'd never sleep again, I got her to sleep at 10.30pm after her 9pm feed , she then had her next feed at 2.15am and is just making waking up noises now.

DH is back at work today, he's going to get up earlier and get DS ready, then we're going to attempt to get DH to the train station on time for work and I'll take DS to nursery afterwards - wish us luck Wink

NorthernChinchilla · 17/12/2014 21:36

I had written a long post after mopsy's one on Friday and it looks like the MN gremlins ate it Hmm Have not been on since as it's been manic every night with baking (did brownies instead of Xmas cards for everyone at work), course, getting ready for friends, etc, etc. So how are you getting on mopsy with the feeding? Whatever your decision I hope you're feeling a little happier, and I am sure your DS is doing just fine.

You're all really brave, we didn't do a birthday party this year. I'd be stressed out like you figster, don't know if'd cope with worrying about attendees!

How did it go chips?

Works do tomorrow, really hope I do not disgrace myself....

Switched to formula Northern. SO much happier.

I'm kind of dreading Minimopsy's party even though it is only four of her little friends, all of whom I like and I know and like their parents too. But even five kids will be manic and in spite of Mopsyboy being an angel so far (11pm feed, feed between 3-4am, 7am feed .. I know! enjoying it while it lasts cos I'm sure it won't last long!) I'm still feeling very tired.

Figster · 18/12/2014 08:20

I am not doing parties next year going to go Lapland uk instead my friends took their 5yo last week and said It's great so going to do that.

Not going to see ds at all today headed to London 6.45 prob get home 9.30 it's a big meeting then afternoon tea then winter wonderland at Hyde park though as still have cold could have happily avoided it all. Working tomorrow 1st Friday in work for 3 years swapped my day off so could have ds bday off on Monday. Dh has ds today as cm off for a funeral god knows what carnage they'll get up to probably watch too much tv although ds is suddenly very keen in puzzles

Faffin · 18/12/2014 11:04

Hope you feel well enough to enjoy the afternoon figgy. DS loves puzzles too, and we've just built our first Lego set together too which he really enjoyed. He had a couple of Lego juniors sets for his birthday. I think they may be the first of many. Lots of Lego related foot injuries to come chez faff I fear!

mopsytop · 18/12/2014 11:26

I got Minimopsy Duplo (well, the cheaper Mothercare version) for her birthday. I hope she likes it! Avoided smaller Lego for the moment cos of the baby being around.

Such grim weather. Need to go out and buy the ingredients for the party food and start making it but can't face the wind and rain ...

Faffin · 18/12/2014 11:34

mopsy that's exactly why DD never had Lego. I didn't want all the tiny bits around when DS was smaller! Hope you get a break in the rain soon. Sun is peeking through here now

mopsytop · 18/12/2014 12:32

Managed to make it out in a break. Making chocolate biscuit cake, rice krispie buns, toffee mallow krispie squares and top hats (marshmallow in pool of chocolate ... looks like a hat when set). They'll all be wired. But it is a party after all!

Chips1999 · 18/12/2014 15:26

I'm glad that you're formula feeding and happier now Mopsy :) Make sure that you catch up on some much needed rest now that you can share some of the feeds!

Hope that you have a good night Northern! And yes, we survived the day and we even got to the train station 10 minutes early which is a miracle Shock

DS love Lego too Faffin - hours of fun for him and DH!

I'm sure it'll be good fun on the day with the party Figgy :)

I'm wondering if I can get away with a joint party next year for DS and DD...? Cutting costs...me?!

NorthernChinchilla · 19/12/2014 09:06

So pleased to hear you're feeling happier mopsy, that's the main thing.
Just getting ready to go into work; one of my colleagues who is a friend stayed at mine after the works do, and I've cheerfully authorised an hour's lie in for us both (helps being a manager Grin ).
Just a meal and pub affair, nothing to compare to some of the horror stories on the Chat thread earlier this week- they were great!

Aethelfleda · 19/12/2014 18:46

I am knackered! My two days off for tidying house got eaten by extra work stuff , but at least that will help fund Xmas so shouldn't complain...
And poor DD2 managed a temp of 40.5 this morning Shock
So was a day off school for her and neurofen and CBeebies! She seems more settled this afternoon thank goodness, think it's just a virus.

Glad you're OK Mopsy, those BFs you gave him initially will have got lots of goodies in, and now you can get on with what works for you (and wow at the 4 hour feeds!).

Right. Time for the CBeebies panto and snuggles on the sofa. Oh Yes it Is!....

mopsytop · 20/12/2014 18:15

Party over! Phew! Went really well! Minimopsy was a bit clingy throughout. Hope she's not coming down with sth. Normally she is clingy for half an hour and then back to herself. She enjoyed it though and my krispie buns, marshmallow toffee krispie squares and chocolate biscuit cake went down a treat.

mopsytop · 20/12/2014 18:16

(if I do say do myself! ha)

Figster · 20/12/2014 18:47

Ds just pooed in his pants eewwwwww was EVERYWHERE!!

mopsytop · 20/12/2014 19:34

Ugh grim figgy, that hasn't happened to us so far thank goodness. Hope it doesn't! Poor you!

NorthernChinchilla · 21/12/2014 12:09

Oh no figster, how grim all round!

We're just about to bob into town, then get off to my Dad's, then up North. A last bit of chill time before the manic starts Xmas Confused

It's ds birthday today he had his soft play party yesterday today he's playing with his new octonaut toys and we going to see paddington this afternoon.

Unfortunately both I and dh are full of cold so bad that I'm not sure we can drive to Birmingham tomorrow to fly home for Christmas Hmm I'm a shivering sweating mess

mopsytop · 23/12/2014 14:18

Hope you made it figgy and are feeling better today!

Went to get Mopsyboy registered at 12, then went to M&S to pick up various foodie things for Christmas. Oh. My. God. RAMMED. Was a total nightmare. You cd barely get down the aisles. Ugh. Made it out in one piece. Now sitting relaxing while Mopsyboy snoozes. So far he is a super relaxed baba. Maybe it is related to the fact that I'm so much more relaxed. In spite of lingering slight guilt, putting him on formula was clearly a very good idea. Enjoying him so much. Compared to the early days with Minimopsy it is just bliss. Poor Minimopsy. She is a delightful happy child now (most of the time!) but I feel bad I was so stressed/upset/unhappy for the first cpl of months of her life.

NorthernChinchilla · 23/12/2014 17:51

How are you doing figster, did you make it to Scotland? Hope you're not feeling too bad. We're currently bombing up North, should land in Lancashire soon- have probably just driven past yours Oi Grin

Glad to hear how chilled you're feeling mopsy, M&S aside. Mind you, my poor Mum is flapping as our Xmas meal should have been delivered yesterday and has so far not arrived, and so we'll probably have to go and buy a substitute tomorrow and get a refund Shock !

Looking forward to a drink when we land!
