Even though dc3 is end of August, thought I'd start a sept thread :-)

How are you all doing?

dS1 is 9 dats old. Feeding well and surely sleeping well but it's hard to know as I keep falling asleep at night feeding him!

team mine is the same. In his case it's caused by my oversupply of milk, so every time he latches on he gets way too much milk causing him to pull back and fuss, but it also causes him to choke on it often. It's also caused by his silent reflux, not sure which is to blame more!

Nazly · 09/10/2014 02:14

Holls same here, a terrible night last night and I also think due to overstimulation - he resisted so much to go to sleep and every time I put him down he started screaming - tonight he was put to bed earlier but once he woke up for a feed at midnight he didn't want to go back to sleep - it is 2am now and finally he is sleeping but on me not in bed ! What to do? How did your bedtime routine work?

ilovemonstersinc · 09/10/2014 05:30

Baby slept from 9 til 5am! Ds2 was a good sleeper hoping same thing is here too.

Lh his head shape was noticeably differeny from birth but was picked up when he was in hospital with his chest (also suffers with asthmaand eczema) . He has a unusually big head too.

topmammy · 09/10/2014 06:37

Team, I have the fussing on the boob problem too which is caused by too much milk spraying out into her mouth and wind caused by her having to gulp so fast at the start of the feed. The only solution I can think of is to express a bit off before she starts feeding but not managed to do that yet as a screaming baby doesn't do waiting lol.

Poor you LH, sorry you are so worried. I hope it turns out not to be quite so serious Sad

Jessica has done a 6 and a half hour stretch tonight for the first time! I kept waking to check on her though and my boobs turned into bloomin rocks!

Went to baby rhyme time on Tuesday. It was fun. Jessica did a huge poonami which required a full outfit change lol then she got messy with rice pudding (see photo!)

LH, keeping fingers crossed for the best outcome for you all. Really hope it turns out to be something simple Thanks

Dd is only doing 3 hours max at night and coupled with a possible growth spurt and cluster feeding, I'm beyond tired. Have been crying more which I'm mad about, didn't want to end up like this again.
Last night ended up making tea whilst bf, trying to entertain dd1 and do the dishes. Not easy! Going to get the sling out today and see if that helps.

ilovemonstersinc · 09/10/2014 08:26

Awww wow top shes doing really well. The whole messy play is really good for there sensory development and helps them accept weirder textures.

allis did you get your tomtom? im sure I saw your name on the other thread

Allisgood1 · 09/10/2014 09:04

Better night last night. I had to let DS cry while I was reading with older dd. He went off to sleep ON HIS OWN and stayed like that for 6 hours! Then went 3 hourly until we got up but is currently back asleep on boob. He was a nightmare yesterday though Confused

Now having panic about dd (6) as teacher has said she's spoken to SENCO about her. Teacher hasn't gone into detail other than we can discuss it after half term Confused so I have 3 weeks of worry ahead.

Ilove, yep got my tomtom toy which I plan to play with today Smile

What is a tomtom toy

Acorncat · 09/10/2014 10:00

Gosh I'm jealous of all these babies sleeping for 3+ hours! Just now we're doing very well if we get 2 hours. Though last night I expressed enough that DH did evening feed so i had 4 hours uninterrupted - feel so much better for it! Unfortunately the only place he can sleep without refluxing badly is on my chest so we ended up dozing like that for a couple of hours. Hate that it's risky but getting desperate.

Re the fast milk flow: I was told to keep baby above the boob so gravity helps to slow the flow. Or sit baby upright so he can control the flow better. Mine keeps getting sprayed In the eye but no idea how to stop it Hmm

cookielove · 09/10/2014 11:13

Ds had a really good night :) everything is so much nicer when you have had a good day :)

cookielove · 09/10/2014 11:13

Ha ha a good night!

ilovemonstersinc · 09/10/2014 11:18

Naz we signed up to test the new tomtom satnav Grin

I don't pick baby up every time he cries as I might be doing something with the others. Sometimes he will settle and go back to sleep and other times he will scream until he sees someone.

holls2000 · 09/10/2014 11:31

So last night was better.
Bath. Feed in bedroom with quiet music playing. Put in moses basket and read him 2 stories. He slept 7.30-10.30, fed him then slept 11.15-2.15. He then wouldn't go to sleep until 3.30 which really turned me into grouchy mum. Then slept 3.30-6.20 and 7-9. So can't really complain.

KitKat1985 · 09/10/2014 13:36

Am still really struggling with Jessica at nights. Last night DH did the first half of the night 'shift' and she didn't fall asleep properly until 12.30am. Then she woke up at 3.30am and I was up with her until 7.45am when she finally fell back asleep again, as she was cluster feeding and then just really grumpy and would start crying every time I put her down in her basket. I try to leave her for a few minutes each time I put her down as I think a lot of it is just complaining that she wants to be picked up again and sleep on me rather than that anything is wrong, and it eventually worked on about the tenth time of me settling her. I'm finding it really hard not to feel irritable with her after a couple of hours as I'm invariably exhausted by this point and then I feel really guilty and a crap mum for getting so fed up with her. Sad

misog2000 · 09/10/2014 15:26

The colief seems to be helping Emily as she definitely seems less uncomfortable with her belly. She is also being sick much less so definitely worth the money and hassle.

Sorry to hear about those of you who are having trouble with sleep, we take Em up at 9ish and she wakes up at 1ish and between 4 and 5, I sometimes have trouble getting her back off after the 5am feed as she thinks it's morning, but once she goes back off she sleeps till 8.30 - 9 so I am getting a fair amount of sleep, it's just split into blocks. I don't always get a chance for a nap during the day so glad of the sleep at night.

LH, keeping my fingers crossed for you, hope all is ok.

CumbrianExile · 09/10/2014 16:43

LH, hope everything is ok for your little one. Thanks

The Gripe water really seems to have helped Aidan. Thanks for the advice re reflux, he had a really bad 24 hours where he was unsettled after all but one feed, being sick and arching his back. But since then he has calmed down loads, still gets a bit unsettled til we get a burp but much less stressful than the other day.

Took him to baby massage yesterday, it is amazing! He slept so well through the day yesterday, however that had a knock on effect on last night lol. Going to try it after his evening feed tonight and see if it helps him sleep tonight Grin

cookielove · 09/10/2014 16:55

lh thinking of you and your lo!

LH1981 · 09/10/2014 17:33

Thanks everyone xx

KitKat1985 · 09/10/2014 17:43

Sorry only just read back. Thinking of you LH and hoping all turns out to be okay. xx

holls2000 · 09/10/2014 21:50

Another question - do you set an alarm for feeding at night or are you baby led?

topmammy · 09/10/2014 22:29

I did set an alarm at first for feeding as Jessica was still a bit jaundice for a couple of weeks. But don't need to now. My body clock naturally wakes me up every 3 hours now anyway, annoyingly, whether Jessica wants feeding or not lol.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 09/10/2014 22:33

Dd wakes me to feed her. I wake as she's snuffling around, feed then change her. Roughly every 2-3 hours at night.

ShowMeShowMeTheWine · 09/10/2014 22:34

In fact, even in hospital (for jaundice treatment) under the lights she still woke for feeding. Greedy baby!

No alarm here either. Aidan let's me know when he is hungry Grin
