Hi Giddy. Apparently Clarks don't recommend proper walking shoes until they have been actually walking for a few weeks at least. But they do 'cruising' shoes, which I guess must be a bit softer?

Glad I could help (being ill and at home off work has its use's it seems) .

tribpot · 04/10/2006 15:51

ds isn't really walking either - he will do it for the applause but doesn't consider it a valid form of locomotion yet. So he only wears shoes when we're going out to the duck pond, as he likes to get out and have a wander around holding on to the railings. I think they're little cruising shoes, from Mothercare.

Ta Giddy - Nothing serious, just a virus that has given me a sore throat and conjunctivitis. Saw the doctor today and bless him he prescribed...........honey and lemon and..........3 brazil nuts per day (for the selenium apparently) . Joking aside he is a pretty good doctor - won't just fob you off with a prescription - likes to take a fairly holistic approach - but it has made me giggle .

Hello
SFX - Souds like night terrors. Horrible and makes you feel so helpless. DD1 had these but not for long thankfully. I don't think there is anything you can do I am afraid as they are still asleep.
Giddy - Clarks do crawling shoes and cruising shoes before their walking shoes. We went straight for walkers but the weather wasn't so bad so the cruisers might be worth looking at. Expensive though they are good enough for when she is walking too.
Get well soon Mandy, Kat and 2 happy.
Off to serve up dinner and think about my Halloweeen name. Byeeeee

lummox · 04/10/2006 19:42

sfx - we get those here as well. you can tell it is a nightmare because he goes from totally silent to screaming like a banshee in no time at all, and you can't comfort him. horrible. seems to go in phases with ds - we're out of it at the moment.

get well soon to 2happy (am too scared to write your full new name), katz and mandymac.

giddy - re: shoes, we were specifically advised that ds shouldn't have proper shoes until he had been walking for a little bit. like skyler we bought cruiser type ones, and he just carried on using them once he started walking. so they were no more of a waste of money than any other shoes for little ones.

sfx - we've got the opposite with dogs. ds is magnetically drawn to them. we live in a pretty rural area, so he gets lots of opportunity. if not restrained he goes right up and kisses them, then usually looks delighted as they lick all over his face. i'm a bit scared of dogs and would love ds not to be, so am trying to be chilled about it (whilst inwardly shouting 'get off my baby you stupid mutt').

Thanks for the get well wishes, but I'm not ill [confused emoticon]. Never mind, I'm sure it's only a matter of time, so I'll save the wishes up until then . Get well to mandymac and katz though!
ds has never done the waking screaming thing, but I've read bout night terrors etc, must be awful to hear your child scream like that . How many teeth do they get - how much longer does the teething go on for????!!!
We got cruisers for ds initially giddy, they were useful for keeping his feet dry outside - even if he was crawling since booties don't keep the wet out long.
3 brazil nuts a day, mandymac?? Must try that next cold I get!
I'm off to scare some more people with my name

sfxmum · 04/10/2006 20:15

thank you all for the feedback on the sleep thing

giddy we were also advised not to get shoes until she was walking but we got her some cruising shoes from clarks from when she was standing alone and feeding ducks outdoors, she still has them, but apparently she wants welliesits in one of her books so now its WELLIES! at everyturn

better do some study reading (right that would be me back in a tick then)

tribpot · 04/10/2006 20:17

sfx .. she wants my ds' wellies, doesn't she? Just say the word!

sfxmum · 04/10/2006 20:20

GrinGrinGrin

lummox · 04/10/2006 20:26

I think we should have a Junies auction for them trib.

they are famous now, after all.

tribpot · 04/10/2006 20:28

That would be brilliant. Imagine if I could auction them for charity.

lummox · 04/10/2006 20:31

how could your MIL complain if it was for charity? have you got a local firefighters benevolent fund?

2MwahHaHaHappy · 04/10/2006 20:34

OMG, Lummox, now I have a ridiculous mental image of firefighters all trying to work while wearing their own versions of mini-Trib's wellies!

tribpot · 04/10/2006 20:35

If only MIL knew how many of her gifts ended up in a charity shop lummox

bubbaOOOOOOO · 04/10/2006 21:59

Evening All,

Katz and MandyMac-Hope you're feeling better soon.

We've all got a cold in the Bubb household but apart from that we're all fine.I've got my first scan on Tuesday which I'm really looking forward to,aswell as the usual worries. At least I'll also find out whether it's twins-I'm still convinced it is.

Took DS to the park this afternoon with some reins for the first time-what a nightmare.I parked up the car, took ages to work out how to put them on him and adjust them, then he decided he'd sooner crawl in the mud,so I spent the best part of 30 mins yanking him up,whilst getting strange looks from other mums.
Seriously though...his walking is really quite good, considering his feet problems and he can virtually run, with both arms waving as he goes.
He still isn't talking though and is still being fussy with his food.I tried him with jacket potato, beans and cheese today for lunch and after mushing it so it looked like mash,he ate it,followed by strawberries and cream-he loves his fruit.

Does anyone still take their Junie to the clinic to be weighed anymore? Just wondered as we haven't been for a few months and was thinking of perhaps taking Ds just for my benefit really,as I'm sure he's not really put on anymore weight in ages. Then again,he flies about like a lunatic,so that's probably why.

sfxmum · 05/10/2006 08:16

TWINS??? well best wishes

katzg · 05/10/2006 08:51
