Mine doesn't either, although ds seems quite keen! My brother will have to take him to Derby County matches.

katz - meet-up sounds fun, will email. If we are bringing baked goods I can categorically state now that mine will be from a shop!

Bubb, either you are scarily organised, or you live in a part of the world where competition for pre-school places is cut throat! Please tell me no other Junies are already registered in pre-school, this is too much to cope with!

sfxmum · 13/10/2006 15:35

(ok mobile phone hidden)apparently dh run out of a meeting thinking it must be an emergency for me to call him in the middle of the dayoh well bet it was a boring one

it seems we will be going up north for Christmas again, shame it is not near junies and at inconvenient time of year as i would like to meet the northerners

about schools i have been obsessing as i have mentioned, it's really more about getting an acceptable primary with access to a decent secondary which is where the problems start

JonahB · 13/10/2006 15:59

Katz, that?s a lovely idea, however, not sure if I can attend without swathes of coloured icing all over the cake!!!

If I do bring baked goods, mine are bound to be a little inferior compared to MasterChefKatz

sfxmum · 13/10/2006 15:59

i really like this pic of dd taken a couple of weeks ago

have a look at this

katzg · 13/10/2006 16:34

my cakes just look good!

shall i start a northern meet thread? i live not far out of the centre and its easy to access from the train station, although if people are coming from the train town might be better. but my house has toys galore for small people to play with!!!

Sfx-What a lovely picture.

Trib-I am so confused by the pre-school/nurseries around here and have been told to get Oscar's name down asap.I have already phoned one primary school that has a nursery attached and was told to go along with his birth cert when he's 2 years old and register him.
We really want to move before they are too old,as the schools around here aren't very good and the area has also gone downhill over the last few years, but whether or not we do,is another matter!

How did lunch go with your babysitter?

muma3 · 13/10/2006 20:10

i have had the most embarassing day today . went to dd1 and dd2 harvest festival assembly. sat there with dd3 annoying everyone with her wriggling, 2 of the mums behind me seem to be a bit bitchy but i talk to them (think im grateful its not me tbh that they talk about). when the assembly was over i got up to leave and they started laughing . i turned around and one of them said i had wet myself (very childish i know ) . i had left the house with damp tights on ( didnt have any others ) and they had left a massive wet patch on my chair. it was all a bit of a scramble to get out and i couldnt explain myself. i just hurried as quick as possible very red faced.

then when dd2 dad came to collect dd1 and dd2 , dd2 grabbed the tree as she was leaving out the front of my house , pulled it back and let go to then announce in front of her dad " look dad a willy !!!!)

he just said enough of that and they left .

twice today i wished the ground would eat me .

Crikey, I'm a little relieved I live where I do when I read this sort of thing about schools. It's like dmiddlesis, she's 18 weeks, lives in London, and has been told there's a 2 year wait for nurseries . She'd have had to book her baby in before it was even conceived! Where I live has the oldest population in the whole of the borders (and is second only to somewhere in the highlands I think in the whole of scotland) so not really much competition for school places!
Jonah and Bubbs - I'm so pleased the scans went well
sfx - great picture! Hope dh has recovered from the shock phone call, lol!
Trib - hope your babysitter is having a better day
Meglo - congratulations!!!

muma3 · 13/10/2006 20:17

oh sorry CONGRATS MEGLO XXXX

sfxmum · 13/10/2006 20:51

oh muma i would not worryit could be far far worsti hope the girls enjoyed the day, that is the main thing

tribpot · 13/10/2006 21:50

ds has just started banging his head on the floor when he is frustrated. Alright when it's in the living room (carpet) but more worrying in the kitchen when it's either tiled floor or a rug depending on exactly where he is.

But doing it in the bath ... that was amusing. The look on ds' face when he 'banged' his head on the surface of the water and re-emerged - hilarious. (He did not think so).

2MwahHaHaHappy · 14/10/2006 08:54

ROFL, Trib!

sfxmum · 14/10/2006 12:49

oh trib

been out this morning pampering self, haircut and shopping, dh is out with dd for most of the day, i am supposed to be writing and essay

Lua · 14/10/2006 17:01

Hi everybody!
Things have heated up in this thread! So nice to see al lot of the junies back!

Many congratulations to Meglo and Jonah!
I am very happy that everything is ok for everybody after all the scares! first trimester is so traumatic, isn't?! Hope it goes by fast!

I am supposed to be preparing a lecture, so was inspired by sfx and her essay, to come and be productive here....

Spend this week visiting schools for DD...Argh!!!! Never thought it was going to be an issue since we have a very nice school close to us that is perfect. However, when we went to visit they suggest we SHOULDN't put them as a first choice, because it is unlikely we will get in!
We have 3 good schools at less than 0.5 mile, and apparently they are all oversubscribed! Of course after much research on the whole thing , I am now utterly confused and unsure about what to do...
I am just deciding where she will go for primary, but it feels like I am already deciding her whole future! and very frustrating!

Katz - meet up at your house would be fantastic! Count me in if you decide to go ahead!

JonahB - is it OK if I send you an e-mail? Have a friend expecting a boy soon that may need help with finding someone trustable to do the circunciion....

2MwahHaHaHappy · 14/10/2006 18:59

dh and I had a nice quiet afternoon, a little drive in the sunshine, afternoon out with ds. Oh yes, and we managed to trade in my car and buy a new (second-hand) family car. Now how did we manage that on a saturday afternoon potter??

tribpot · 14/10/2006 20:12

Okay ladies, ds has had his bath-time revenge. How do we best deal with major poo outbreak in the bath? (Bear in mind I was in there too).

sfxmum · 14/10/2006 20:24

according to dh a proper shower and lots of soto voce 'oh bugger' 'oh bugger'

tribpot · 14/10/2006 20:26

Have done first bit, second was confined to urgent shouting of "code brown! Code brown in the bath!" Will do major very-hot-water and white vinegar on ds' bath toys in the morning!

sfxmum · 14/10/2006 20:38

oh yes that sounds good

dd went out with dh today and i have a little film of her playing in marks and Spencer switching price tags around the shop perhaps the start of urban guerrilla tactics?
and that the father stood by filming on mobile might be construed as aiding and abetting pre criminal behaviour oh dear

bubbaOOOOOOO · 14/10/2006 22:01

Lol at your dd Sfx and Trib's ds.Haven't encountered any poo's in the bath yet,so should probably count myself lucky there.

2Happy-Yaay on your afternoon out.Sounds brilliant!

Hi Lua-Certainly don't envy your week trawling the schools.I've just put ds's name down for pre-school and that was confusing enough.
Is your friend having the circumcision for religious reasons? I know when my brother had his(many years ago)it was the Rabbi from the Shul where my parents belong to,who did it.We didn't have Oscar circumsized,so I don't know if it's all changed now.

Had a lovely day today.Dh was off work so we took ds to a soft play place to run around for a couple of hours, and wear him out,and...I actually felt the baby move for the first time tonight which was great.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.x

tribpot · 15/10/2006 15:27

Katz - definitely start a thread. We have to come to Sheffield soon anyway in order to spend our John Lewis vouchers from last Christmas

JonahB · 15/10/2006 19:00

Katz, please do start a thread. If I?m free I?ll definitely come, although I?ll probably drive. Lua, if you want a lift??.

Lua, good to hear from you. No problems with e-mailing me, I?ll be glad to be of help.
