million keeping fingers crossed for the passport :)

toby could you try giving water instead? I know it's different when bf but may stop the association?

Gettingthroughthis · 01/09/2014 16:12

felix I just give chunks or cut up a bit if spoon feeding so haven't bought anything like that but if youre doing purée/ mash etc then could be v useful

MrsGSR · 01/09/2014 16:30

Hope today's gone well nature!

Separation anxiety here too, she screams if DH trys comforting her during the night. But he is able to take her downstairs in the early morning, she screams until they get to the living room then usually gives up! Still feeding to sleep too. I'm a bit wary of trying to night wean now as she's going into get own room at the beginning of next month.

Hi everyone

Just catching up after a much needed weekend away on a farm stay near Alexandria. It was brilliant, if anyone is in the Middle East or heading Egypt way check it out. Too much food though, and lovely milk fresh from the cow.

Glad Lucy is a bit better mythree but sorry things got so scary. Glad things are calmer and the new nursery sounds lovely.

Hope your first day back is going ok nature and that you are feeling better.

toby I have the same trouble. I am making zero headway with unpacking and cleaning the flat before DD starts school on wednesday. I am getting frustrated and just plugging N in to shut him up. Also incredibly uninspired about food to give him. He just seems always hungry.

Still haven't sorted school transport for DD so I will be hanging out at PILs all day so I will be close enough to pick her up every day by taxi then wait for DH to finish work and bring us back home. I have no idea how I will cook or clean or what I will do every day, nor can I see any way I can get back into work. Sad I hope I don't lose the plot or let rip at PILs, though both seem a distinct possiblity.

Two weeks ago when we left the flat for a few days I asked DH to turn off the electricity from the fuse box except for the kitchen. So he turned off the main switch and everything in the fridge and freezer went off. I still can't get rid of the smell and I want to kill him. I think there must be a drip tray but I can't get to it and can't face pulling the freezer out again. Urgh. PIL also see this as direct evidence of my incompetence since why would I ask DH to do it? Nothing to do with infected contact dermatitis so bad i couldnt' touch anything, right?

N is still having yucky green diarrhoea and it has been going on for a week now. Bum red raw despite bepanthen. Not sure if this is intolerance or teething or bug but he seems happy enough. Anyone else had this?

I want to shave my head so badly. Too much hair pulling! Also, anyone else's LO discovered drawers? I can't keep up!

TobyLerone · 01/09/2014 18:14

I've tried water, getting. She'll take it and then insist that I feed her afterwards. I've also tried a dummy.

Well done, felix!

altered, you are actually a saint.

FizzypopFireball · 01/09/2014 21:16

Hello, I've been stalking again. Reading and not posting, but feeling so relieved that everyone is going through the same thing!

altered, it was your thing of green diarrhoea that prompted me to post. Henry had this about a month ago. His was slimey stuff and gave him a horrible red bot. We used Canesten cream instead of our usual nappy ointment and it cleared it up in 2 days. I think nappy creams have a barrier that can stop moisture getting both in and out, so he ended up with thrush. The diarrhoea cleared up by itself eventually - we got a stool sample taken, but no bacteria showed up, so I think it was just a virus.

Some other people also commented a while ago about their babies growing out of the Uppababy. Just wanted to say that the hood bit on the pushchair extends upwards! I can't remember how it works though. We were shown it in the shop, and I thought "I won't need that for ages!" Ha!

We don't seem to have too bad separation anxiety yet, but that could be because I'm never really away from H for any length of time. I must admit that this is driving me insane/getting me down atm. I've only been away for 3 hours from him. I need a rest!

beccajoh · 02/09/2014 07:00

I don't think we've got any separation anxiety yet... Toby your nights sound really hard. Not sure what to suggest. My daughter was a bit like that. Only boob would do.

OP posts:
TobyLerone · 02/09/2014 09:00

We made a convoluted plan for last night and went to bed all fired up to use it.

Then she had her best night in ages and we didn't need to use it! Woke at 11.30pm, 3.30am, 5.45am and 7.30am. It's probably a one-off, but it was nice :)

FelixFelix · 02/09/2014 09:15

Yay Toby!

No separation anxiety here either. Although she does start whinging at 5 every day as DP is due home from work at half past. If he goes a longer route on his bike (he's training to race next year) it's an absolute nightmare as she's a tiny bastard until he gets back at 6.30/7.

We are still having better sleep. She woke up at 2 and 4.30 last night. Weirdly I'm more tired than when I was waking up every hour Confused She's taken to doing a huge poo at 5am the past few mornings but when I change her it makes her think it's time to get up and she's wide awake and wanting to play. Does anyone have any tips on how to change her nappy without making her think it's morning time?

We still haven't moved her in to her own room yet. We have managed to paint one wall and now I'm a bit reluctant to do any more. Had a 'house inspection' on Saturday. LL text me in the morning saying her sister was in the area so she's asked her to do an inspection at 5pm but not to worry if it was too short notice. I was in anyway so she came round. She brought a friend with her which I didn't think anything of at first, but i heard them chatting upstairs as they were looking round, and the sister said to her friend 'oh yes your council tax would be so much cheaper here than living in the city centre, and you could afford to have your car too' so I'm really worried that she's going to serve us notice and rent to this friend instead Sad we have moved house every year since 2009 and I'm sick of it. I hate renting!! The house we are in now is super cheap and works well for us, and if we moved we would have to pay at least another £200 a month. Hopefully I'm worrying about nothing Confused

BookTart · 02/09/2014 09:29

Fingers crossed it doesn't come to anything felix. Renting is so stressful.

Well done Meredith! Glad you got some sleep toby.

I've started the sleep diary for the consultant. 9 feeds last night! A friend of DH's from uni that he hasn't seen for 15 years is coming to stay for a few days tomorrow. Not sure she's going to enjoy sleeping in the room next to us!

Felix maybe talk to your landlord?

Gettingthroughthis · 02/09/2014 11:29

fizzy I've worked it out thank you :) it literally slides up! Can't believe I've never noticed it. Still not convinced it will last until 4 1 with my beast

FizzypopFireball · 02/09/2014 12:50

getting what a beautiful boy! So much hair! You might be right about it not lasting all that long, but at least you can buy a lightweight buggy and not feel guilty. The Uppababy is so heavy and bulky. It takes up most of the boot in my car. I'd love a wee lightweight MacLaren or something but can't justify it atm.

Toby, book, and felix, hope the sleeping continues to improve. We had a spell of disrupted sleep and realised Henry was too cold! I know the guidelines say to keep the room temp between 16 and 20, but H wakes up if it's less than 21. Also if it's too dark, bizarrely. Or too light (hello 5am wake ups). Apologies if it's all stuff you've tried and tested before!

FelixFelix · 02/09/2014 14:04

Million I've sent her a text today asking if the inspection was ok. I'll see if I can squeeze any info out of her! It's also a bit random as we have been here since December and she's never arranged an inspection and never really contacted us much. I'm probably just getting the wrong end of the stick!

alteredimages · 02/09/2014 14:16

Thank you fizzy! I tried some econazole this morning and it seems to have helped, though that could be partly because we are finally back in reusable nappies. Yay! Also the poos have slowed a bit and I realised that the greenish smelly stuff is more brown and that this is what poos are like once weaning gets going in earnest. Ugh!

felix hope your landlord doesn't serve you notice. It would be a massive pain, but would recommend talking to her, making clear you weren't eavesdropping.

getting H looks so lovely. I did a double take thinking he was a toddler at first! Want to post pics of N but I am too much of a wimp to post here and don't have Facebook. Thinking of joining again for the Facebook group though. Do you guys still use it much?

alteredimages · 02/09/2014 14:18

X post felix.

Sleep here is getting better, separation anxiety is not. The wonder weeks book had a lot about it, basically saying it is a massive pain but totally normal.

Naturegirl82 · 02/09/2014 19:29

Hello Smile So I've survived two days back in work (just!), but I have a very annoying cough (I'm sure my colleagues are loving having me back!). It's been ok, although not much work for me at the moment which makes the day go a little slow but I've got a project to work on now so that should help. Been managing to express at work no problem as well.

O has adjusted so well, I'm so proud of her. I was worried about the separation anxiety but even though she is teething (two front teeth are poking through) she has been a dream for the inlaws. They think she is much easier to look after than my nephew was as she can entertain herself quite well which is nice to hear. She guzzles milk from me though as soon as I get home! And amazingly tonight she went to bed with no tears! Usually cries when we get her dressed into pj's and grobag but just smiles tonight and straight to sleep when put in her cot. Amazing.

Picked up my new car yesterday Grin It's so shiny and pretty, made the journey in soo much better today.

Felix hope your LL isn't going to serve notice.

Fizzy amazing tip about the uppababy I didn't know it did that Smile

altered glad N's rash is clearing up and his tummy seems better. O has had a nappy rash flare up from her teeth but it seems to be calming down again now thankfully.

toby hopefully you'll have another good night tonight. O was up quite a bit last night, but I don't know if it was teeth or hunger from not being with me all day. Hopefully we will have a better night tonight.

book when do you have your first sleep consultation?

Sorry if I've missed anything brain is mush!

beccajoh · 03/09/2014 05:19

My TB has decided 4.30am is time to get up. Spent 30 mins trying to settle him: nappy change, milk, dummy, teething gel, cuddles/rocking/singing. Gave up and brought him downstairs as DH is starting a new work contract today and could do with having a couple more hours' sleep! TB is happily sitting on the sitting room floor chucking Duplo around. There's nothing on TV apart from rolling news and teleshopping Angry

Nature, glad work has been ok and hope you're feeling a bit better soon.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 03/09/2014 12:48

Becca that sounds tough!

I'm at work, apparently pissing people off with my effectivesness. Can't sodding win.

Dh has had a text saying they are printing his passport. So hopefully it will be here for Sunday!

alteredimages · 03/09/2014 14:43

becca that is not fun! If I were closer I would gladly take said troublemaker off your hands since we have to get up at 5 now for DD's school. I would require payment in cuddles and sloppy kisses though. Grin

DD had a good first day and wants to go back to school right now. Not convinced that it is closed for the day.

Will stick some pics on my profile for a couple of days as I am fed up of not sharing but too chicken to put them in a post.

million sorry about work but a hopeful yay! about the passport.

FelixFelix · 03/09/2014 15:44

Nature glad it went well! Hope the cough clears up soon.

Million I really hope it arrives in time Smile

Altered bless your dd Grin

Just been to ikea and got an Antilop high chair. Far too excited about it!

FelixFelix · 03/09/2014 17:04

Does anyone know how I apply for tax credits etc? Can you do it online or do you have to get forms from somewhere? I am officially unemployed as of 12th September so will need to get it sorted. Do I have to wait until after 12th to apply? Also, is it worth applying for housing benefit etc. if I'm unsure if we would even qualify for it? I assume you'd apply and they will get back to you saying you're entitled to x amount or nothing. I'm sure DP earns too much to qualify but I suppose it's worth seeing if we can.

I'm hoping one of you lot know Grin

AMillionNameChangesLater · 03/09/2014 18:19

Felix you can claim the form online, they will then send them to you. You will be able to start the ball rolling now

Naturegirl82 · 04/09/2014 08:19

Really struggling, can't remember ever feeling this exhausted before. I knew coming back to work would be hard but this is ridiculous. O has been sleeping badly and I've still got a cough so am not sleeping well. Thank god it's Friday tomorrow. How has everyone else coped with going back? Any tips to make it easier?
