New thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Naturegirl82 · 28/09/2014 07:10

Unfortunately yes. spotted one of the buggers in her hair, but it must have only just got in there as it was really obvious! Hazard of the job for Dh as a primary school teacher! All sorted now though Smile

Hope you had a good night out getting

AMillionNameChangesLater · 28/09/2014 08:18

I hope you had a good night getting!

MrsGSR · 28/09/2014 12:09

Just wrote a long post, and accidently deleted it Angry

L has learnt to clap :) is very cute.

She's got loads of little raised spots on her belly and thighs. They disappear under a glass. DH thinks it might be bites but there's none on her arms, lower legs or chest, and a few below the nappy line. I might take her to the walk in centre, but I don't really trust them as they missed her ear infection and water infection (twice) and sent us home when both times she needed antibiotics.

alteredimages · 28/09/2014 12:27

MrsG, could it be heat rash? N gets it really badly even when he doesn't seem that hot. He gets it especially on the nappy line and under his arms.

Oh no nature, that sounds rubbish! At DD's school meeting we were reminded about regular nit inspections. They suggested also a dab of lavender oil behind the ears to ward them off too. Last year DD got worms at school Sad. I hope they aren't back this year because they are total buggers.

Hope you enjoyed your night out getting.

What are your babies all eating? N seems up for most stuff with the exception of eggs and porridge. He is also allergic to bananas. I am suffering from a massive failure of imagination and can't think of anything to give him. He is mostly living on sandwiches, sweet potato, guava and chicken Blush.

alteredimages · 28/09/2014 12:35

getting, I am a fat happy wheezer. Grin Me and three of my four brothers were diagnosed with asthma as children. Only menand my eldest brother have experienced symptoms into adulthood and only I still need to use an inhaler. We all had happy active childhoods and it never stopped us doing sports or anything (though I did try and fail to use it as an excuse Smile). Treatments are so much better now and the nhs is quite good about making sure treatment plans are always in place and reviewing regularly so asthma is much easier to get under control. My poor dad's only option in the fifties was to stick a tea towel over his head and breathe in the vapour from boiled water in a bowl!

TobyLerone · 28/09/2014 12:57

M seems to eat anything, altered, although she's not keen on most forms of potato.

Yesterday, for example, she had porridge with raisins for breakfast, lunch was improvised at a service station (a couple of mini scotch eggs and a banana) and for dinner she had some of my lamb shank with carrots and mash (mash being one of the forms of potato she doesn't seem to like, but she enjoyed squishing it in her fists!).

Breakfast is usually porridge and/or toast, with some form of fruit. Lunch is often breadsticks with houmous and cucumber sticks, or bread with cheese/philadelphia/chopped up ham, or an egg or tuna sandwich.
Dinner is whatever we're having. She loves pasta, meat, most vegetables, fish, sauces etc.

All of the above is just bunged on her highchair tray and she wipes it in her hair/throws it on the floor and occasionally gets some in her mouth.

MrsGSR · 28/09/2014 13:21

I hadn't thought of heat rash. I don't think it is as it started last night and she spent most of the evening in just a nappy after covering herself in her tea.

L has pasta and grated cheese and a quick lunch a few times a week, she loves it. So far she's liked all steamed veg, salmon, cod and chicken. I made her a mini pizza the other day, which she loved but made a massive mess with!

FelixFelix · 29/09/2014 10:25

MrsG is the rash still there?

Altered S will eat anything I give her but she's still a bit rubbish with finger foods. I am persevering though and she's getting better. She tends to spoon fed mashed things.

S has taken to waking up for the day between 5-6am and I have tried everything to get her back to sleep. I'll give her a bottle and she will look like she's going to sleep then roll over and sit up smiling and bouncing up and down. It's exhausting! She's still waking up 3 times a night too. I'm more tired now than I was when she woke up hourly for 4 months, which is weird Confused

We are going to a baby music class today. I've not been before so not sure what to expect but hopefully S will like it.

alteredimages · 29/09/2014 11:59

YY to being exhausted Felix. I think it is cumulative so even though things are getting better we haven't made up the previous sleep deficit IYSWIM?

We are now starting the day at 5am because of DD's school and I am not enjoying it, especially as N isn't sleeping before 11pm.

MrsG that doesn't sound like heat rash, you are right. Could it be a reaction to washing powder? DD had this last year when I washed her pants by hand and didn't rinse them out enough. If it just sensitive areas in direct contact with clothes it could be that. Now I do an extra rinse cycle at the end and it is fine. Sounds like it is worth a trip to the GP if she still has it though. Is it itchy at all?

Yesterday I made bread and sweet potato wedges which were both big hits. Today I am making lentil soup and hummus and roast aubergine. Don't think DH will be impressed (Meat and two veg and lots and lots of rice guy) but we need to bring down food bills and eat more healthily.

MrsGSR · 29/09/2014 12:35

Felix L is still waking 4+ times a night, I'm also more tired than when she was waking hourly! I agree it's cumulative.

Took her to the walk in centre in the end. Dr thinks it's just a viral rash, it's faded a lot and doesn't seem to be bothering her.

DH is away for 2 weeks now. Not really looking forward to doing nights on my own!

TobyLerone · 29/09/2014 12:42

I'd still swap with anyone waking 3 or 4 times a night!

pumpkinsweetie · 30/09/2014 06:29

My little monkey is still on mush, really need to get less panicky and soldier on with some finger foods. An episode with tipping her upside down after nearly chocking to death on a chunk of rusk has not helpedGrin

We have 3 teeth here, with one more up top trying to break through.

Baby pumpkin also may have asthma, she has been on a blue pump for 3 months, trying to get hold of it was like trying to get blood out of a stone though!
My pumpkin just has a cough that never really goes away, she can get very distressed with it and she has had 2 chest infections already.

alteredimages · 30/09/2014 11:31

Good luck MrsG looking after L on your own. I might be weird, but I like it better when DH isn't around because he is completely unhelpful anyway and I can at least sit around in my pants eating crisps without anyone passing comment!

Hello pumpkin, sorry to hear about baby pumpkin's cough/asthma. That sounds really rough. Do try to let her explore more finger foods though. I didn't with DD and even at 4 she is funny about lumps. I have since heard that finger foods before 9 months are important.

Has anyone else's baby turned into a biting monster? N keeps lunging at me, he especially loves knees. On the bed he will leave the breast only to come charging over a minute later, mouth wide open and jump onto me to resume feeding. It is funny but actually quite scary and I have a few painful bites when he's missed the nipple. Even DD is scared of him now!

alteredimages · 30/09/2014 11:33

Oh, has anyone else had trouble with lentils? N loved the lentil soup yesterday but spent the rest of the day spitting up. Just small amounts, maybe three or four times. Is this an intolerance/allergy or just a dodgy tummy/too much food?

He does have an allergy to bananas, but he comes out in hives, he isn't sick.

Mythreeknights · 30/09/2014 12:04

Lucy loves lentils (with onion, sweet potato, carrot and stock) but turns her nose at potatoes (perhaps because they go all slimy when blended) and not sure about salmon. Breakfast is weetabix with milk, zapped in microwave 30s to get it nice and warm.

Becca so sorry to read about your health - I am so impressed by your attitude though and am glad your consultant is keeping you positive.

MrsG Lucy had similar rash on her torso for ages - turns out it was also a viral rash and then she developped a cough and excema as immunity was down. Not much you can do if it is other than lots of cuddles and fluids and keep an eye on any green snot.

Catepillars now big and fat, think we are about to enter the chrysalid phase. Boys over excited and sleep wtih them on their bedside table. V sweet. Lucy still not crawling but started humping along on her bottom...I can't believe I have a bottom shuffler. We do evening 'crawling classes' with her brothers trying to teach her how to do it 'properly'. Very sweet.

MrsGSR · 30/09/2014 13:52

The rash is pretty much gone now. I think it was the tail end of the virus, she had a cold last week and then a few watery nappies over the weekend.

altered It's definitely easier to stick to a routine when DH isn't here, it always goes to pot on the weekends! And I have spent today in my pjs eating quavers...

He's very helpful on the nights where she refuses sleep all night though. Last night was pretty awful, I don't understand how she's so active now when she only slept for about 4 hours.

alteredimages · 30/09/2014 17:37

That doesn't sound fun MrsG. DD is a sleep refuser and gets more and more hyper when she is sleep deprived. I still don't understand it, it makes no sense, but there it is.

FelixFelix · 30/09/2014 18:29

S has started battling to stay awake at nap times and bed time. She gets hyper and hysterical! It's harder now she can sit up as you lay her down in the cot and she tricks you in to thinking she's going to sleep then she suddenly sits up and starts bouncing around!! Arghh!

I've just given her some cheese on toast for tea and she ate it all without coughing any of it back up! Until now she's really struggled with any finger foods and solid food I've given her and she had no trouble at all today. I'm so relieved as I was starting to worry Smile

AMillionNameChangesLater · 30/09/2014 19:25

In the past few weeks henry can pull himself up to standing, say Mama (v cute) and learnt to climb the stairs yesterday. He fell down two of them, didn't seem too fussed!

Naturegirl82 · 30/09/2014 20:42

MrsG glad the rash is going down.

O eats anything - even if it isn't on her plate! So far this week she has stolen apple and bread crusts of the MIL plate! She mostly gets finger food but I do cut some things up like gnocci as she was struggling with it a bit.

Felix O wakes up about 4.30 but I bring her into bed with us and feed her and she doses off again until about 5.30. We have to get up at 6 anyway so not too bad.

O stands herself up during the night, but last night I discovered if I leave her a short while (less than a minute) she either falls or lies herself back down and goes back to sleep Smile. Really need to get her into her own room as I think that will help her sleep better.

altered is your DD taking the bus now? Are you finding it any better?

O is now walking. I think it is official walking rather than steps as she now stands herself up and can walk the length of the living room rug. She is getting more confident every day, it's amazing the difference.

TarkaTheOtter · 01/10/2014 12:11

Wow nature!

A seems to have learnt how to self settle a bit. It's all very novel having a naturally "good" sleeper as dd is/was definitely not one. So whilst A sleeps through, my toddler is still waking me up every few hours shouting nonsense ("CHOCOLATE BUTTONS", "TOPSY AND TIM BOOK", "THERE'S SPIDERS IN MY BED" grrrr).

Naturegirl82 · 01/10/2014 15:46

Goodness me, I have the attention span of a gnat today! Can't wait to go home! 30 mins and counting!

Hope everyone else's day is going better

AnotherStitchInTime · 01/10/2014 22:28

Go O, yep that is definitely walking nature!

altered M is also a biter, but loves toes so always attacks whoever is sitting on the sofa with their feet dangling. Allergy to legumes like lentils is increasing so it could be, luckily cross reactivity is low with legumes so if N is allergic to them there is only a 5% chance he will react to other legumes.

I had the joy of being vomited all over at M's bedtime this evening. Had just put him down when he started coughing and crying, picked him up and he projectile vomited all down my neck, over my hair and down my front. Lovely.

alteredimages · 02/10/2014 10:33

Yuck another! That sounds really horrible.

Good to know about the low chance of allergy to other legumes. I am hoping he just had a dodgy tummy but will take him for allergy testing. Bananas are a definite, still think he is lactose intolerant and eggs seem dodgy too. Here in egypt it will be very tough if we have to add pulses and legumes to that!

Eid al adha starts on Saturday so we will be spending a few days with the in laws. Finding i am much less tolerant now we have spent a couple of weeks in our own flat. Wish me luck!

Naturegirl82 · 02/10/2014 15:00

Oh another that does not sound fun!

altered fx N isn't intolerant. Is there a history of allergies in your family?

I'm so tired today. O was awake between 4 and 6 this morning! Yawn!
