Aw crap!
I know I was on soy milk when a baby as I was intolerant to regular milk. I'll speak with a Dr tomorrow about it. Thanks for the heads up

Naturegirl82 · 17/09/2014 18:06

First thing Dh asked me when I got home was what do I want for dinner. Had all day to think and I still don't know!

FelixFelix · 17/09/2014 18:22

I'm making chicken katsu curry tonight!

S still has feeds through the night at around 1, 3 and 5, so it sounds pretty normal.

Naturegirl82 · 17/09/2014 18:59

I've decided on a Chinese takeaway with all my favourite bits Smile

Olivia has learnt to stand without the aid of anything today. It's so weird seeing her get up in the middle of the room! She also took a few more unaided steps Smile

Naturegirl82 · 17/09/2014 19:04

How did the interview go getting?

Swannykazoo · 17/09/2014 19:15

Another reverse cycler here! Feed at 6 when I get home, feed to sleep after 7, maybe a snack feed until we go up to bed at 10, then 2/3ish and 5/6ish. Still co-sleeping so sometimes can get away with a self service arrangement overnight....

FizzypopFireball · 17/09/2014 20:14

Argh! Panicking now a little, book! I've been giving Henry soya milk in his porridge on the advice of the dietician. He also loves soya yogurt, and I'm fairly convinced that him guzzling this for pudding is helping him sleep better. Is this proper medical advice that boys should avoid it? I wasn't entirely convinced by the dietician - it was a phone consultation and she kept talking about formula feeding despite me telling her I am breastfeeding. Even her letter to the gp referred to me using formula. I'm a tad worried now that she was a total waste of space.

Swannykazoo · 17/09/2014 20:31

Fizzy if its any comfort all the advice from our dietician was to give soya milk/yoghurt/custard as a milk substitute despite me being pretty sure little puggle was allergic/intolerant to soya! (And confirmed when I gave a tester) No mention of any issue for boys but I also felt "chocolate teapot" after my visit.

BookTart · 17/09/2014 21:06

My dietician was pretty definite about it, but did say they'd have to have a lot (i.e. replacing dairy totally) for it to be an issue. P has the odd soya yoghurt and sometimes has soya fake cream cheese, but I'm sure the odd bit is fine. She also said that the supposed link between dairy and soya allergies isn't real though, but I've read so much about how the proteins are similar that she seems to be the only person that disagrees!

FizzypopFireball · 17/09/2014 21:29

Thanks for the reassurance. I think I'll mix up the dairy substitutes from now on!

How are you getting on being back at work, puggle? My DH and I are considering moving to Inverness, and I keep thinking "at least I'll know another mum there" Grin

FizzypopFireball · 17/09/2014 21:34

nature hope you enjoyed your take-away!

Well done Olivia and Meredith, and all the other cruisers/finger walkers/other disturbing phrase. Time to get the stair gates ready!

Naturegirl82 · 17/09/2014 21:38

I'm still waiting for it fizzy Dh went out at 7 to play squash and hasn't come back yet. Wouldn't mind so much but it's my birthday and I've spent the evening by myself.

Naturegirl82 · 17/09/2014 21:44

Yay dinners here Grin

MrsGSR · 18/09/2014 00:35

Happy birthday nature! I hope the take away was worth the wait :)

Still trying gradual retreat, but not sure that it'll work. Last night wasn't great, after 2 hours of sitting with Leah and reassuring her etc I gave up and left her with DH (and drove to the 24 hour asda and bought some shoes as apparently I'm a stress shopper, and it was the only place open). She was asleep when I got home but DH had cheated and rocked her to sleep. She did sleep for 3 hours though, which is the longest she's slept for a while. Woke up around 1am and, after an hour of trying to get her back to sleep, she came into our bed.
Tonight I tried for 2 hours, she mostly screamed at me (not actual crying, just angry shouting) then fell asleep for DH patting her back. Slept for 2.5 hours and has now been awake for 2, she's not happy. I don't think she's capable of self settling, when do I give up?

beccajoh · 18/09/2014 08:06

Million, my DH (granted he's not a baby!) is badly lactose intolerant and he uses a range of products called 'Lactofree'. They do full fat milk, butter, cheese, cream and yoghurts. Might be worth a try? I've no idea if they're suitable for babies although I can't see why not (it's ordinary cow dairy with lactase enzyme added) but pretty widely available.

Otherwise goats milk is much better tolerated by lactose-intolerants, ditto sheeps milk, although the latter is usually only available in cheese format. The sheeps cheeses are much more like cow cheese in flavour - don't have that farm-yard flavour you get with goat dairy!

Thanks Becca I'll see what I can do.

It's odd because he has regular milk in cereal for breakfast and he's ok, but as soon as he drinks some he throws up everything, about 20 mins later anyway.

I tried him with soy milk this morning, not formula (he has been throwing up with formula and also regular milk drinking) and he was sick again. A lot. Back to the drawing board!

To try and get fluid into him he's being having v diluted fruit juice which he drinks, he isn't interested in water. In Oman right now it's 32c so he needs to drink

beccajoh · 18/09/2014 10:01

Sorry I forgot you weren't in the UK. Can you get comfort formula?I think they're meant to be lower in lactose or something like that.

Good idea, I'll have a look at the shop when I go out. I'm having massive cravings for jelly beans, and also for face at the window (fried bread with egg in it). I'm not pregnant, just being odd!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 18/09/2014 12:07

In a rush, but nature happy birthday! and tarka we lowered the cot about six weeks ago, when Alex started standing up in it, it's no worse or better putting her down in it now, just more backache!

Naturegirl82 · 19/09/2014 11:40

So my weekend away has arrived. I'm definitely going tonight but will see how O is coping on whether I stay tomorrow night or not. I'm only 40 mins away from home so not a problem to come home early. I'm really looking forward to a night out full night's sleep but also sad to be leaving O. I guess I have to do it at some point!

FelixFelix · 19/09/2014 14:51

Enjoy your weekend nature. I'm sure she will be fine! I had a weekend away when S was 6 months and it was great, but I was glad to be back on the Sunday. It was lovely to have a good nights sleep and have a non baby night where I could feel more like myself again!

FelixFelix · 19/09/2014 15:03

Forgot to say Sylvie has learnt to wave and it's super cute Grin

MrsGSR · 19/09/2014 17:37

Aww, L shows no interest in waving or clapping, just stares at us like we're mad!

Last night she woke up 7 times between 7pm and 6am, but each time took less than 10 minutes to go back to sleep and she didn't feed at all! Trying not to get hopeful! The sleep was obviously good for her, she took 3 steps on her own today. DH swears she's done it before but it was the first time I've seen it :)

FelixFelix · 19/09/2014 18:37

Aww MrsG that's great!! Also good that she didn't want to feed. That's what I need here.
