'Pissed off phase' Grin

I'm not sure about entertaining. S just rolls around on the floor all day trying to grab stuff she's not allowed and that seems to entertain her. Also she loves tv (especially spongebob Blush) so that's good for when I need to get stuff done.

I hope you can find something to occupy him! Nothing worse than being ill and having to find the energy to entertain a baby.

AnotherStitchInTime · 09/09/2014 21:29

Baby Einstein videos from YouTube. All of mine have loved the puppets. just puppets.

Nursery rhymes whilst in door bouncer/jumperoo.

M likes rolling around the floor with toys. At the moment a box with toys in it provides entertainment, he likes taking them out. Balls also a favourite plus any older kids toys in the 12 month age range like Happy Land people, a novelty for him, but still safe for him to have.

Moving locations good every so often. When ds gets bored I take him to another room for a change of scenery.

FelixFelix · 09/09/2014 21:41

Another thank you for the help with my baby snot dilemma btw Grin

FelixFelix · 09/09/2014 21:43

Ooh yes I was going to say S likes it when she goes in to a room that she doesn't go in often. The kitchen amazes her for a long time! Especially when I open the fridge. I even took her down in the cellar the other day Grin

AnotherStitchInTime · 09/09/2014 22:03

You are welcome Felix Grin

FelixFelix · 09/09/2014 22:09

Also I have bought some size 5 nappies to try for night time in the hope that she won't soak through them! Will report back in the morning.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 10/09/2014 05:45

How did it go felix?

Naturegirl82 · 10/09/2014 07:03

How was S last night felix hope you managed to get some sleep. I propped O's mattress up at an angle when she had a cold.

Gettingthroughthis · 10/09/2014 07:23

Henry has a pretty much constant cold and doctor said some children just do. He's extra snotty this week after being basically snogged by a snotty girl at his nursery settling in session last week. I can always feel it in his chest but never seems to bother him so I just leave it

Gettingthroughthis · 10/09/2014 07:34

felix not sure if you tried it but I give water out of a bottle so it tricks him a bit. Although last night had to give him milk at 12.30 as nothing else worked. He's teething and has a cold so can't blame him. He then slept through until 6.45 though! :)

MerryPops · 10/09/2014 08:37

I am joining the "babies teething and with cold" club. Dh has passed his cold onto Alexander so he is not too pleased with himself at the moment bless him.

I have sneezed a couple of times today, hoping I can avoid it as I can't be doing with work, ill husband and ill and teething baby. The joys of parenthood I guess?!

Dh has plenty to cheer him up though, Xbox gaming night with his brother on Fri night, I am taking A to sleep at my mums so they can have a lie in on Saturday, and his friend just won a Playstation 4 and he already has one so he is giving it to Dh. Will I ever get a conversation out of him again? Hmm

FelixFelix · 10/09/2014 08:51

She woke up quite a lot but wasn't as bad as expected, and seems slightly better this morning. The size 5 nappies didn't work and she still leaked Sad Getting I was going to try water then I felt bad as she's not well and thought it was a bit mean Grin so I'll try it when she's better.

Naturegirl82 · 10/09/2014 19:05

That's good felix

Can I just ask, how are people strip washing their nappies? I need to do mine but not sure what to do.

beccajoh · 10/09/2014 19:11

Archie vommed up his dinner and bedtime milk just before bed yesterday. He was fine but just had too much in his stomach I think. We gave him more milk but unfortunately he was a very hungry boy overnight, 18ozs of milk.

All ok this evening thankfully, although he's not eaten much today and his naps have been all wonky donkey so who knows what tonight will bring!

Hi nature have never stripwashed my nappies but I do give them an extra rinse cycle every wash and then a good sniff as they go on the line to make sure they don't smell of wee or washing powder. Have you got the dreaded build up or just thinking you should do them as a preventative?

TobyLerone · 10/09/2014 20:23

I have stripwashed my nappies with a squirt of fairy liquid and tons of rinses. My machine is on its last legs so I always do an extra rinse with every wash.

Naturegirl82 · 10/09/2014 21:18

I do an extra rinse with every wash as well. They smell fine when they come out the wash but the smell builds up really quick when they get wet. I've put them on a 30 degree wash and then I'll do two 60 degree washes all without detergent and see if that helps.

Naturegirl82 · 11/09/2014 08:13

Think I must have had quite a bit of detergent build up even with the extra rinse every time (and using half dose) as there were still suds after the third wash. Put them on again so hopefully this one will do it. Should be an improvement anyway.

Dh wants me to go to the Dr's about my cough. Had it two weeks now and it doesn't seem to be going. Feels like a waste of time to me. Does anyone know of any cough medicine you can take whilst bf? All the ones I've looked at aren't suitable.

TobyLerone · 11/09/2014 08:20

Cough medicine is pointless. It won't cure your cough. Your DH is right -- get to the doctor's!

FizzypopFireball · 11/09/2014 08:38

nature, try honey and lemon, and some glycerine to soothe the pipes. Cough mixtures usually contain these as well as a decongestant, but it's this that dries up your milk. Steam inhalations are effective too but not the most pleasant. I think most docs say most coughs will go after 2 or 3 weeks by themselves, but if you're coughing up green gunk then go sooner as it could be bacterial rather than viral.

Henry slept through the night last night. I, however, got very little sleep, and tossed and turned all night. There is no justice sometimes.

Naturegirl82 · 11/09/2014 09:06

Argh Fizzy that sucks. Always seems to be the way!

I've been trying honey and lemon but to no avail. Not coughing anything up but once I start coughing it's very hard to stop (my work colleagues are loving having me back I'm sure!). It sounds like I'm a proper heavy smoker!!

TobyLerone · 11/09/2014 09:10

Honestly, go to the Dr, even if only for peace of mind.

TarkaTheOtter · 11/09/2014 09:50

nature I'm having the same discussion with dh. I've had a fever and sore throat for 3 days now. No other symptoms (except having such a high temp is making me feel dreadful). Throat too sore to eat today. But, I'm sure it's viral so they won't be able to do anything.
Although I'm guessing if dh was that concerned he could of got up to one of the dcs many wakings last night. Hmm

FelixFelix · 11/09/2014 11:31

Nature I'd go to the doctors. I remember seeing loads of adverts recently saying you should see your GP if you've had a cough for 2 weeks.

Trying to get Sylvie to nap because I want to go out shopping in an hour or so but she's refusing! TB!

I have a question about coats and hats. I assume it's going to start getting cold soon so I'm going to buy S a coat, hat and mittens. What kind of coat should I go for? An all in one type thing or just a normal jacket? Also she won't wear a hat and pulls one off as soon as you put it on her head so what do I do about a winter hat? She will probably pull mittens off too. Arghh!!

MrsGSR · 11/09/2014 14:38

I hope those of you with feeling under the weather get better soon!

I haven't caught up properly as I'm a zombie today! We did have L's cot right up against our bed with one side taken off, but she can climb over things now so we've had to put the side back on so she can't escape before we go to bed. She doesn't like it! 7.30-midnight I was trying to get her to go in the cot, she slept 12-2 then refused to go back down, so DH took her at 4.30. I have no idea what to do. I'm emotionally and physically exhausted.
