So here it is - a brand spanking new thread!

OP posts:
tron · 14/12/2006 17:26

hi all just thought i'd duck back in. Erin is doing fine, still no teeth her grins are still gummy . I'm dreading going back to work, i'm leaving her with cm next monday - i have have 2 wisdom teeth out -i'm not sure how shell be. i popped to the chippie the other day and daddy and grandad gave her her tea - they said she was fine but it felt great to see how excited she was when i got back, well it was either me or the chips!!! She'll try more or less anything now and she is getting the hang of chewing too. She's happiest on the floor where she can manouevre her self about - they aren't babies for very long are they , i'd have more yesterday but i haven't anywhere to put then

luckymummy2sophie · 17/12/2006 20:41

OMG! Sophie is very very nearly CRAWLING!!! Just in the last few days, she keeps going onto all fours and bunny hopping her knees together! She can go backwards, and looks very close to actual crawling......how exciting (or not as the case may be, once she's mobile!!!)

She is just so damn cute. (biased mother of course, but she really is!)

louismummy · 19/12/2006 23:25

hi all sorry not posted for ages. ds STILL wakes in the night for a feed!!! is rubbish with solids, but has 7 teeth and is teething again ( molars this time) and started crawling last week!!! and is much happier with life, since he can now get in on the action!!! love to all

TheHockeyandtheIvy · 20/12/2006 10:02

wow all those teeth and crawling babies!! How time flies [fgin]

Both me and Theo have the lurgy this week and feel like yucky stuff. I've designated today a PJ day for both of us and I'm glad that I have done all the shopping I need for the time being, might get on with some wrapping later on. Poor ds doesnt understand why he cant breathe but he loves the rattling noise his chest makes when he breathes so does it really loudly while grinning

Not moving yet (thank goodness with all the barbie shoes and little tiny hairclips our house is going to be festooned with over the next few weeks!) but does say "mummy" really clearly and lift his arms up for me to pick him up (can't resist that one, so he's cottoned on fast )

luckymummy2santa · 20/12/2006 10:44

hockeymum, I hope you feel better soon. It's pants feeling ill at this time of year, esp with a young baby too. I hope Theo gets better soon too.

My best mate is term plus 12 days today and going to be induced. Glad I didn't have to experience that. Can't wait to meet her lo though, we've grown up together so it's cool we've had babies the same year. I told her to hurry up or she'll be calling it Jesus!!!

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 20/12/2006 14:01

Hi all! Hope you and Theo are feeling better hockeymum, we've been really lucky so far, not one little sniffle! Shouldn't have said that, tempting fate!
Dylan has 2 front bottom teeth now and loves to bite his daddy's nose with them but no sign of crawling yet.
He started saying mom mom mom but now he has learnt dad dad dad thats all he says now, such a daddy's boy!
I'm still trying to get work sorted for the big return in march. Can't get hold of the big boss to ask for part time hours. Does anyone know the maternity policy well, can he refuse me part time hours? Think i might use my dodgy thyroid as an excuse if they get funny with me!
Anyway, hope you all enjoy you first xmas with the lo's

luckymummy2santa · 21/12/2006 10:29

Brummiemom - as far as I know, I THINK they are not under any obligation to allow you to return PT, however, recently there has been a lot of new stuff about family friendly working, so this may have changed. My boss is wonderful and over the years has allowed every physio to return PT, I think she knows that if she doesn't, we would prob have to leave and work in a private clinic ( I work NHS mainly and some private). We all appreciate that she doesn't have to allow this, but she does. She has kids herself so I think this helps. I think it also depends what job you do, and how easy it is to do PT. Mine is easy enough as I simply only have patients booked in on the days I'm at work.(Doesn't do the waiting list any favours though !) The ward physios find it harder to manage I think.
What have previous employees done at your place of work after having babies?

littlemisspiggy · 21/12/2006 11:55

Hi Everyone! Just popping in quickly to wish you all a great Christmas and Happy New Year.

TheHockeyandtheIvy · 21/12/2006 12:16

From the only joking section, just thought I'd show you all theo as a christmas elf!

Have emailed it to my family as his christmas message!

theo elf

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 21/12/2006 13:55

Hockeymum, pmsl!! How fantastic is that Theo is sooooo cute!

Thanks for advice luckymummy, i'm a research nurse in a private clinic and work with alot of, ahem, more mature ladies who have grown up kids, so still not sure how i stand pt. But they did employ someone to work mon-fri 08.30-12.30 which would suit me really well with Dylan at the nursery for only a half day. She left and they never replaced her....so heres hoping!

luckymummy2santa · 22/12/2006 12:22

Good luck with getting PT work brummie, I think PT work is the perfect balance for all concerned in our household.(I appreciate that's only my opinion).

My best friend had a little girl yesterday, after horrendous 48 hr labour and eventual C section . Very excited about going to see her and baby later, I'm sure it will bring lots of memories flooding back of my liitle Sophie as a newborn. Makes me blub just thinking about it......

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL OF YOU AND YOUR LITTLE ONES!!! [FWINK]

squidgeymistletoe · 23/12/2006 12:10

Hi all, have a fab 1st Christmas with all your lo's - hope you all have lots and lots of fun!

SAHMof1 · 29/12/2006 18:40

Hi everyone - hope Christmas was fab for you, your families and your LOs. DS may have chickenpox - not sure yet. He definitely has a cold and a friend?s DS definitely has it and we've been round theirs playing! Is it better young? Anyway, I just have to wait and see really. DS loved Christmas, particularly chewing on all the wrapping paper! So TTFN, and have a great New Year all.

squidgeymistletoe · 30/12/2006 10:28

hi all, we had a fab Christmas and spent all day getting things out of dd's mouth too. Luckily she didn't get toooo many toys, mainly clothes, so we're not overrun (although still haven't seen my Mum!!)

Glad you all had fun too

BrummieMomInMerthyr · 30/12/2006 14:29

hi noopska, welcome!!
seems like we all had fun retrieving wrapping paper etc from lo's mouths!!
We had a very busy 4 days from xmas eve and we're all still knackered, esp poor Dylan, and we've got another family do tonight! having a quiet new year though, thank goodness
Happy New Year to you all xx

asur · 31/12/2006 09:38

hi all, not been on for ages - just been so busy... wonder where the time goes sometimes...

so, got a question for you all. I want to know if I'm an over-protective, obsessive mother - please tell me the truth! Ok, so this was over last weeks: was visiting my gran and she asked if DS could have a biscuit and was shocked when I said no (this was from a plate of Kitkats and Blue Ribbands etc.) then went to dh's gran who asked if DS could have a biscuit, again shocked when I said no so she then offered a 'plain' one (digestive) and I still said no. Then went to in-law's who asked if he could have chocolate - I said a very quick no and MIL said "oh, I bought him chocolates for Christmas!" she had bought him a BIG tube thing of chocoate buttons!

they already think I'm weird for still breastfeeding while working and for using real nappies and for making my own babyfood... Am I weird for not letting DS have chocolate at 7months too?!?!

Hope you all have a good New Year!

SNOWMANdymoo · 31/12/2006 19:47

Asur - no, i am exactly the same as you. It seems ever more difficult to get through the first year without giving a child chocolate, sugar etc etc. With dd (4) i managed it just but with ds (8 months) people, including grandparents, seems totally shocked when i refuse to feed him biscuits.

I havent been on here for months.

Quick update:

Tom now 8 months

kinda sleeping through (6.30pm - 7pm with a couple of dummy replacements through the night!)

Sitting up

Crawling - OH MY GOD!

Eating me out of house and home

Cute as ever

Hope you are all ok and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

luckymummy2santa · 31/12/2006 22:26

Asur - No you are def not being obsessive. My brother couldn't understand why I wouldn't let him give DD some jam off his finger (gross anyway!). He's older then me but doesn't have kids. Haven't had parents or IL's offering it....I think they know our views on it. My SIL's kids eat such rubbish, my BIL was telling me how I should give DD Chocolate pudding, cos apparently their three 'LOVED IT'. No shit sherlock?! Maybe it was all the sugar in it!!! I am pretty determined not to give DD sweets or sugar for as long as possible, maybe until she is 34, what d'ya reckon !!

Well girls, I'm home alone on NYE. DH is working a night shift, and DD is sleeping soundly in her cot. I'm not too bothered to be honest, had a fantastic year with birth of DD, and at 32 have had many good new years parties to reminisce over!! Hang on.....I think the bath is calling me, and a good book. Has anyone read 'the rise and fall of a yummy mummy'??? Very good, I'm half way through it.

Hope everyone will be back posting in the new year after busy old Christmas.

Happy New Year to you all. XXXX

luckymummybigfattummy · 31/12/2006 22:31

Just changed my chatname, I'm still Sophie's mummy but now after Christmas I have an (even bigger) big fat tummy.

TheHockeyandtheIvy · 01/01/2007 11:57

asur and others - you are definitely not weird for not letting your lo's have chocolate/biscuits! With my dd she didnt taste anything like that until she was at her first birthday party and even after that if she had snacks and things they were the "goodies or organix" ones for babies. Believe me once they taste crisps and biscuits regularly they wont touch that baby stuff! Now DS is 8 months, he doesn't eat that stuff yet either. DD tells everyone who comes near him with things like that "No, it's not good for babies, he has to wait till he's a big girl like me " and then gladly takes it off their hands.

Well, it has to be said that I had the crappiest christmas and new year ever! I've had a chest infection for 2 weeks because the first lot of antibiotics didnt work. Theo had it too but responded to the first lot of antibiotics so was better by christmas. Having also had the worst birthday ever in 2006 (when I split my c-section scar after being hit by a car) I am glad to see the back of 2006 (apart from the fact that it gave me the lovely DS) BUT Here is to a wonderful 2007 watching my two lovely little ones growing up!
