Please don't worry yw I assume the GTT is the vile drinky thing you have to keep down for a couple of hours after a finger prick test? I had to do that both pg and it was fine. Despite having a high first finger sugar level test before both (112 in one).

And if it is GD then the vast majority of cases can be managed by cutting out sugar. You can still eat cheese though iirc.

pass she will cope with nursery. She's a happy little thing she will adapt. Like all change though it must be hard.

I have a friend over here, she moved from China just last year to be with her DH, who is a good friend of mine (they went to uni together years ago). Her DD is 4 and had to stay in China until a few weeks ago due to visa issues. Anyway, the kid is now here and having to settle into a multilingual nursery/pre school (none of the multi languages her mother tongue), away from her primary carers (her grandparents) and in a country where we eat differently and look different!

From Beijing to the city and country I live near to. Which even though it is a capital is like a farmyard compared to Beijing.

She is adapting. It is hard. She's knackered. Angry sometimes. But coping. And she will thrive. I saw her this week. Kids can adapt to new situations far better than we as adults do, as long as they are loved and cared for.

So it is normal she struggles. But she will come out the other end.

Glad DH enjoyed his first day

Night quiche x

It is hard though. I do get that. Remember the 7wk hell to settle in LO to nursery? She's a different child now. She really is. I believe those weeks were hard for her. Stressful, awful for us both. But she is nodding frantically when I tell her nursery starts again on Tuesday.

Pass I was over the moon about H's first nap and even more his first meal! I was in shock he did either. Starting to get a lil nervous about A starting in 2weeks.

Yw did you do the GD test last time. It's easy peasy. Take a book. I had to do it both times because I have a high bmi am fat First time had to sit in clinic 2hours between tests. 2nd time they let me drink the lucazade at home then come in for bloods.

But like PR said you can still eat cheese!

I had the GD test with each pregnancy. I did not have it with any of them. I am sure you will be fine YW, and enjoy an excuse to sit and rest for a couple of hours. Make sure someone has J for you x

E's naps have been all over the place recently too. It's starting to effect her bedtime hence her taking ages to go to bed last night and still being asleep now. DH dealt with it last night though as I was out having a yummy thai Smile But I do need to get her back into some sort of routine, until we go away again in a couple of weeks and that ruins it all.

yw I too had the gtt test with E due to blood results but all was fine. As gt said take a book as there is a lot of hanging around time.

YW I had the GTT test both times, both times fine. Second time was a good couple of hours' break from work / toddler!

Nice to have you back PR. Your friend's DD is amazing, as are all DC who cope in such circs, but totally agree a loved and supported child can manage just about anything.

DD and S are having a fab time at Granny's house. We FT every day and although I miss them like crazy, the sleep is fantastic. Grin I am not going to do anything today - resisting the urge to run around like a maniac and Get Stuff Done isn't easy though. DH and I went out for dinner last night and managed to have a good talk and because we were in public we couldn't shout, the most heated was a low volume hiss. Progress Smile

Fab to hear lots of uneventful GTT stories. Was a bit worried as the MW who rang me was v alarming - talking about very high levels, baby already measuring 3 weeks ahead and how this was an emergency appointment when I tried to move it to a day I didn't have a meeting. Confused

Hopefully it will be fine YW but as PR says, cutting sugar is the biggest help in managing GD.

DH is back and had his slow cooked barbecue ribs and beer last night and me too! Wink We also treated ourselves to a fry up at our local greasy spoon this morning which was yum. J has gone off for an uncharacteristic morning nap so DS1, DS2 and I made pizza dough for their dinner tonight. DH and I are going to have a Thai takeaway once the kids are in bed. So it's all about the food in the Stunt household today. Then he's off back to Germany on Monday for another stint. Hmm

We had it too BP. Sun shining here now though!

Have transferred my lazy self from bed to sofa. Watching commonwealth games. Chasing I'm a bit late to the diving appreciation party but I'm in. Collective quiche viewing at 7.30pm when Tom Daley goes for gold? Grin

Hours of entertainment to be had with a pot of water, a paintbrush, and a wendy house. Think the walls have been "painted" about 10 times Smile

Glad you're having a lovely relaxing day, zamboni. Just what the doctor ordered.

I'm pretty bloody knackered and having a BBQ tomorrow for around 30 people. looking forward to it but I could really do with some quiet time. oh are our lovely garden furniture that DH ordered is being delivered on MondayHmm

Evening all.

Have a safe and exciting trip lily

Good idea bp! Must try that.

Today has been long and fairly weerisome unfortunately. P has been whiny and fussy and impossible all day. I have never known her to be like that and I just don't know what to do with her. She refused to let me out of her sight at all even to be with her dad and has been extremely fussy about food. No temp but she came home from nursery with nasty nappy rash (they didn't mention it - I will raise this next week gently by pointing out the cream in her bag) and has spent days with her fingers in her mouth so I suspect either her teeth are shifting or she has a big molar coming in.

Whatever it is I hope it passes soon as today was very wearing. I suppose the other possibility is that she has picked something up. Fingers crossed she has an uninterrupted night and wakes refreshed tomorrow.

Hello new thread.

Re: paddling pools, we have a blow up fire engine one but L is just as happy with the washing up bowl. He calls all bodies of water 'bath' at the moment which is comical.

YW I did have GD so if it turns out you do have it I can try to offer some pearls of wisdom, hopefully you don't though. Mine was quite bad but went away as soon as L was born. Much better to know and have it under control although I know it can feel a very stressful process to go through. Will keep my fingers xed that you don't need my helpful advice!

pass Snap! E has been a complete winge bag too. I took DD1 to her swimming lesson and she cried at DH for nearly 2hrs. Everything he tried to do just made her worse. She has had her finger in her mouth a lot so we suspect teething too. Let's hope they are both in better spirits tomorrow, it's so wearing!

Passmethecrisps · 02/08/2014 21:50

eliza that is so weird! I was actually thinking today about little E because they have been development buddies got ages.

I feel terrible for complaining but I was up several times in the night for "moar tweenkle" so DH tried to take her this morning to give me some peace - not a chance! She screamed and sobbed at the bottom of the stairs. Weirdly she wouldn't go up them which she can and does multiple times a day. We tried going out, the park, soft play, cartoons, endless oatcakes and cheese, chips! Nothing worked. I have never seen her so distressed without a temperature or clearly ailing. Weird.

It makes me feel oddly better to know we were not alone!
