Grin BP

GT hope H is starting to feel better?

I might be up for gate crashing your quiche meet Lily, I have that week off work as I need to use up my holiday and have nothing planned atm. It'd be lovely for O to meet the quiche baby with who she shares a name, and the one with who she shares a birthday!

Thanks for the buggy thoughts. O does walk everywhere when were out, but I'm not sure how she'll react to seeing baby being pushed around in 'her' buggy iyswim. I'll look into a buggy board.

We had continued vom until 5am when I brought her into bed with us as we had no clean cot sheets left. She slept well after that and has eaten loads this morning so I'm hoping whatever it is has passed Confused

GTbaby · 31/07/2014 12:10

He has done a couple poo explosions not a happy bunny. Just laid on sofa. Gets up to play turns lays down again.

Lily311 · 31/07/2014 12:13

That would be great miss.
Originally wanted chasing to meet us on a Saturday but it would work better to go to MK at lunch time and see them when she finishes work at 1 pm one of the weekdays, probably Thursday? chasing what do you think?

Wandathewindfairy · 31/07/2014 12:15

bp how did you do the skirting boards and ensure it didn't go On The carpet?

YellowWellies · 31/07/2014 12:48

Sorry to hear of poorly LOs, J has been picked up from nursery by his Dad today too, after 3 watery nappies. Looks like he's not over the roseola yet. He also cut a wolf tooth last night - so that might be making things worse too. I feel awful being at work whilst DH deals with it, but I don't get parental leave until I'm out of my 3 month probation period and we had agreed that I would take Monday and he would take today if needed. I'm so lucky to have this option, but selfish cow that I am, I hate it when I get home on days when DH has had him as he is such a Daddy's boy and won't let me put him to bed! Mindst last night I was the only one who could settle him and it was me he wanted this morning. So I think the wee bugger is playing us off against each other!

Right random question. I'm nigh on 28 weeks and realise, given family history I should get my hospital bag packed. I've got the basics covered I think but would really appreciate any suggestions of little items that made labour / hospital stay easier. So please let me know what you couldn't do without. I'm hoping to labour on the MLU in the pool.

Lily311 · 31/07/2014 13:00

Frozen lucozade. Witch hazel, arnica tablets. My doula although you can't pack her up unfortunately.

Paisleychick · 31/07/2014 13:12

Gt I think it depends on who can leave. I think dh stayed home with H more than I have because I've had things on more than dh has and he can work from home. But if he couldn't stay with him I would. It's hard isn't it. H was quite sick for the first couple of months of being at nursery but it's settled down completely now. How many days is H going?

Zamboni · 31/07/2014 13:54

YW - I can only really talk about post-delivery options, never having laboured, but second time around I made sure I had loads of drinks with sports cap lids, naice foods too!, lansinoh, the ipad charged and full of downton abbey episodes. If you do end up with intervention then you may not have much ability to move around and if the delivery is late or outside visiting hours, you could find yourself alone after moving to post-labour ward. So factor that in possibly and make sure everything can be accessible if you can't move for any reason. Second time I knew what was coming so had the snacks and nappies set up, ipad on, and BF'd almost constantly through that first night.

S also "bought" DD a present - colouring book and chocolate buttons for her to unwrap when she came to visit. This went down very well and is still remembered by DD.

Oh, and despite J having always been your baby, when you see him for the first time after delivering his sibling and having newborn cuddles etc, don't be surprised that J has suddenly become a total giant child.

BigPigLittlePig · 31/07/2014 14:29

Yes my mum always says she remembers when she first saw me after my younger brother was born and was shocked by the size of my head Grin

My hospital bag wasn't packed when F was born Blush - in fact it had the random bits from moving day, eg. hair straighteners, odd toiletries. So good idea to get packing now yw! As you can imagine, I had the bare minimum of stuff so no other useful advice.

Wanda I use a sheet of newspaper folded in half, tucked in tight against the bottom of the skirting. The painting isn't perfect, but there's none on the carpet, and you can't tell unless you're crawling around down there.

My kitchen looks like a bombs gone off, I'm not sure where to start Confused

ChasingDaisy · 31/07/2014 14:32

Lily that might work, although I have to go and collect O from nursery by 1 and then he usually naps. I'll try to think of a plan.

Rowingdowntheriver · 31/07/2014 15:43

A quick post from me for yw as my maternity stay was very recent. I booked myself an 'amenity room' (private room) for after I was born. Two nights in there may have been the best money I ever spent! It was £150 a night but I had my own ensuite with toilet and shower plus it gave me extended visiting hours. It became my little haven which was a lovely break from my boys.

I downloaded the michael mcintyre audio book which was fab although made me laugh so much I thought my c-section scar might split! I listened to it constantly and dozed in and out of sleep. Twas fab. Because of that even now it has an almost hypnotic effect on me and gets me all relaxed (like post yoga / massage).

Other stuff? Face wipes, bottled water, jelly babies, big pants, mat towels, breast pads, ipad and magazines.

Passmethecrisps · 31/07/2014 16:48

Hmm. I took my kindle, magazines and Vaseline. I didn't use much actually and took more than I needed. I think having something downloaded is a good idea.

P had another settling in day today. She was very, very upset this morning when I dropped her off so I have clock watched all day. I went to pick her up and was met by a very worried key worker - I was 1.5 hours late!! I got in such a fankle dropping her off that I got into my head it was 4pm I had to pick her up. Doh! Thankfully she was absolutely fine all day and even managed a short nap.

I did manage to sort three years worth of paperwork though. I did not manage to persuade DH to let me shred anything though. Ah well - small steps

YellowWellies · 31/07/2014 17:27

Magazines and kindle? OK I'm feeling slightly short changed by having contractions every 2 minutes for 22 hours last time. I didn't get much reading time in the 60 second gap between contractions Envy . I'm so tempted to just say "epidural me up" if its another back to back! It would be nice to meet this baby slightly more compus mentis Grin

Passmethecrisps · 31/07/2014 17:56

Don't get me wrong - once mine started I had nae chance of doing anything g other than adopt the 'make it fucking stop' yoga pose. There was hanging around while the induction took hold though.

GTbaby · 31/07/2014 17:59

I can't refresh the FB post from Vq. Without details can anyone give me an update. It's been on my mind all day.

GTbaby · 31/07/2014 18:09

Managed to get H to gp. They had a cancellation. It may be food poisoning. He has been given dyralite but he won't drink it. Have tried everything. Even using a calpol syringe. But he won't have it.

I asked gp what to do about his thumb sucking as the skin is really bad. Like when you stay in bath too long but it's now pealing off. Gp said some think kids do this as they are neglected Shock I rather passive aggressively turned to h and said "I'm sorry darling, mummy is not looking after you properly" to which gp said "don't take offence, just some medics say that." I'm right to take offence right ?

StuntNun · 31/07/2014 18:40

J is fine GT and VQ made her journey okay.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 31/07/2014 18:45

I too was induced both times. With dd I was induced on the Sunday and dd wasn't born til the Tues!

Ds was an induction too. I was in for a few days tho each time so my kindle etc was used as I had time after... Not during labour!

Lily311 · 31/07/2014 19:10

Wtf gt?

When O's thumb was bad I used lansinoh as you don't need to wash it off. It worked like a miracle.

yw o was back to back and I laboured 26 hours. I did not read or listen to music, I was in agony!

Lily311 · 31/07/2014 19:28

Oh and this thread needs to be killed. Do we have a new one?

Lily311 · 31/07/2014 19:46

Who is in for killing?

Lily311 · 31/07/2014 19:47

We need to sort this out for once. Who is the thread killer?

Lily311 · 31/07/2014 19:47

I accidentally stepped on a snail yesterday. I am definitely a snail killer.
