Jan 2014 - can we call it a sleep regression if they didn't sleep in the first place?

Hi all just checking in to say hey and hope everyone's well. Been diagnosed with PND and am on ADs. I'm not in the best frame of mind right now but I will be back (soon hopefully). Hugs and love from me to you all and the little ones.

TobyLerone · 20/07/2014 20:19

felix, last night she went to sleep at 8pm, woke (and fed) at 3am and 5am, then woke for the day at 8am. It's nowhere near as bad as some have it, but it's still frustrating when I know she's capable of sleeping through.
DH put her down tonight and she went to sleep within 5 minutes. Then woke again 20 minutes later and has been crying for the last half hour. She's definitely winding down now, though. I've made DH man up go in to her every few minutes and I've kept out of it.

enormouse, sorry to hear you've been struggling. Hope you're back on top and with us soon Flowers

FelixFelix · 20/07/2014 20:32

Enormouse I'm sorry Sad glad you've seen your GP and are getting help. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Toby that's not bad. I know what you mean about knowing they actually can sleep through. Until 4 months, Sylvie would sleep 8-11 then go back down again after a feed until 6am so I know she can do it. She's just gone to sleep at 7pm and has woken up crying twice already. I can't leave her as I've got neighbours on either side and at the back of my house and I feel bad about the noise Blush

TobyLerone · 20/07/2014 20:44

I missed out 1am from the waking schedule from last night!

TarkaTheOtter · 20/07/2014 21:29

enormouse we're here for you when you're ready.

Alex up with us watching orange is the new black as usual. He just doesn't get tired til late.

Panicked today when I realised that schools here work differently to UK and the waiting lists open at birth. Thought we would only be here 2 years so hadn't bothered to look into it.

MrsGSR · 20/07/2014 23:31

Hope you're feeling better soon enormous

L hasn't had a temperature for a few days but she's not had many wet nappies which worries me. Possibly the weather and not the water infection? I might ring 111 tomorrow for advice. She's got an ultrasound in October to check there's no underlying cause, and I think she needs to be on a low dose of antibiotics until then to stop further infection. Slightly worried about that as it seems a long time.

MrsGSR · 20/07/2014 23:32

Tarka we've just finished season 2 of orange, can't wait for season 3!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 21/07/2014 09:47

enormouse I also have pnd, I had it after ds1 was born too.

I'm always around to talk, even if it's just to share the crazy talk xx

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/07/2014 11:29

Just dashing in (off to see friends for three days) to say enormouse and million I have PND too, so solidarity fist bump. It sucks. But it will pass. Thanks

FelixFelix · 21/07/2014 14:47

MrsG did you call 111? Has she had more wet nappies today?

I've noticed today that Sylvie now holds her toys up in front of her face and talks to them. It's very cute Grin

Naturegirl82 · 21/07/2014 15:09

Just popping on to say hi before undertaking the mountain of washing I have from holiday. Had a brilliant time and O loved being able to swim loads.

Not caught up properly yet but will later.

mrsg O has been on low dose antibiotics pretty much since she was born to avoid urine infections and will be on it for quite a bit longer (indefinitely at the mo). I think it's pretty common and it's just a precaution as babies get a lot of infections so it's just to protect them from causing any damage.

Enormouse sorry to hear about the pnd but glad you're getting the help you need.

Right must get this washing done. Will be back later Smile

Naturegirl82 · 21/07/2014 18:10

Grr just found a smashed window upstairs. Only outside pane though so not too bad. More money out the window literally!

enormouse · 21/07/2014 20:06

Thanks guys. For all the support. I just feel like I'm at my lowest ebb right now and I don't really want to post and drag the mood down and it feels hypocritical to offer advice.

My milk seems to have dried up too and Cals gone onto formula.
Just waiting for the ADs to kick in so I can shake of the awful, constant exhaustion.

Pnd solidarity to million and humpty. And love to everyone else for the empathy and understanding. Thanks

TobyLerone · 21/07/2014 20:14

enormouse, you can have PND and still continue to offer great advice. Your advice, if you ever want to give it, is no less valid just because you have PND. Just pop in when you need/want to.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 21/07/2014 20:21

I second toby if you need to talk, do it. I wouldn't think you were bringing down the thread. It's something we can all relate to sometimes.

TobyLerone · 21/07/2014 21:12

Ssshhhhh, everyone. Meredith went down tonight (night 3) and was asleep within about 3 minutes. I didn't even get a chance to go in to her once! I was only going to leave it 5 minutes (even though by night 3 you're supposed to leave them about 15 mins before you go in, but we've never left her more than 4 or 5).

Fully expected the same as last night, where she went to sleep quite quickly but then woke up for her half hour's crying after 20 minutes.

I am suspicious.

Swannykazoo · 21/07/2014 21:56

Fingers crossed for you Toby and big hugs to all with the PND gremlin.

Just wondered how long are the tiny bastards little treasures going for naps and overnight sleeps?
All bets off a bit here with teething, but have started setting alarm for 7 Sad as practice for going to work -hoped it would help get little puggle asleep earlier in the evening but just seem to have a grumpier baby for longer, which is nice.

Naturegirl82 · 21/07/2014 22:34

enormouse please feel free to post here. Use all the support you have. I've not had pnd just d and knowing I had people to talk to helped me through.

Naturegirl82 · 21/07/2014 22:36

puggle teething has flared up here tonight as well. Tried teething gel and powder and had to resort to calpol.

Naturegirl82 · 21/07/2014 22:40

toby hope m is still asleep for you. I'm trying to get O into a proper routine now we are back off holiday.

Does anyone have a link to info about not needing night feeds after 5 months?

million (I think) I don't have any scar or mark from my bcg so it can happen and isn't anything to worry about.

Sorry about multi posts, still in holiday mode and had far too much wine Blush

TobyLerone · 21/07/2014 22:54

The thing about not needing night feeds from 5/6 months (if not earlier) is in every sleep book I've read (and I've read loads!). I just had a quick google for you, though, and there are loads of links. Here's one, for example:

www.childrenshealthnetwork.org/CRS/CRS/pa_nightfd_hhg.htm

She's still asleep, btw!

Naturegirl82 · 21/07/2014 23:24

toby thanks for that info. that link seems to suggest sleeping through is 7 hours though so I guess it depends what time they go to bed as to whether they will need a feed during the night or not. Might ask the hv at the breastfeeding group tomorrow.

MrsGSR · 21/07/2014 23:25

That's reassuring Nature, thank you.

She's had a few wet nappies today, she's been a little bit miserable but seems to be getting better.

TobyLerone · 22/07/2014 04:02

From what I've read, the official definition of 'sleeping through' seems to be 5 hours. But apparently by the time they're the Jan babies' ages they should be able to go from bedtime til morning without feeding.

Swannykazoo · 22/07/2014 08:25

Eek - Toby I can usually rely on your links to make me feel supercalm and in control but not that one! The wee swine has gone off savoury food (hopefully due to teething) and not eating much fruit either so is back at the milk bar for a lot of the night.
