Cupcakes he sounds ready, Ivy denies shea done anything in her nappy despite tell tale smells!!

Secondary school offers today. Was quite relaxed then started panicing at the weekend that I had messed up aplication and he would get some sink school I've never heard of. Email arrived at midnight and we have our first choice. Oh the relief Grin

now I can worry that this school is no good after and how do I cope withteens and and ...

JuniperTisane · 02/03/2015 12:52

Great news Apple. Got another 6 weeks to wait yet for primary school applications.

Dan comes over and says "stink!" when he's done a poo. But he also says that when he's just farted so I'm not taking anything as read yet.

Last holiday with a travel cot this weekend. We're going to the railway cottage I was looking at before so I will post a review up when we return.

I keep getting asked what I want for my birthday on thursday. My answer varies between Peace and quiet or A lie in longer than 8am.

AppleCrumples · 02/03/2015 13:33

Ha ha me too Juniper! Grin Ds2 feels that cake is essential but I think thats for him rather than me Wink

JuniperTisane · 02/03/2015 13:54

I could manage cake I think Grin.

Both boys had parties at the weekend. As far as the kids knew there contained a piece of cake and a tat toy. DH and I confiscated ate the Freddo and Milky BarBlush

AppleCrumples · 02/03/2015 19:15

Juniper Grin

We used to do that when the boys were little, would never get away with it now! Not that thet get party bags anymore.

Ds1 is completely unmoved by school allocations today and has no idea where his friends are going. Quite glad that he is not stressed by it all though, have lurked on the secondary school allocations thread and some seem very stressed!

glorious · 02/03/2015 22:33

That's soon cupcakes, how exciting! Does she already have children? big adjustment to make in 4 weeks from the point you know it's happening.

Juniper I do the same with party bags. I told E a packet of exploding candy was a shaker Blush

LetThereBeCupcakes · 03/03/2015 07:28

Juniper I don't see why you shouldn't get peace & quiet AND a lie in! My birthday is next month and I have asked for terribly exciting things like a new front gate and some hooks for the airing cupboard. My life is thrilling!

glorious SIL has an adult son from a previous relationship, but this will be her husband's first. Four weeks seems so soon, doesn't it? I can't imagine having to get everything ready in such a short space of time. They don't even know what he'll be coming with yet so are twiddling their thumbs anxiously.

AppleCrumples · 05/03/2015 09:23

cupcakes how exciting

juniper Flowers and Cake hope you are having a lovely peaceful day.

I thougt dp had forgotten my birthday again but got up to a card and a note telling me he has got tickets for Take That ! Also have 3 lovely hand made cards from dc and ds2 wrote the loveliest message :)

Ivy has learnt to say 'not fair'... oh joy!

JuniperTisane · 05/03/2015 09:33

Flowers and Cake to you too Apples. Its certainly peaceful as DS1 is at nursery as a reluctant tiger from The Tiger Who Came To Tea. He was quite unhappy at dressing up so I'm not really sure he's having a very good day.

I got a cake and card in bed this morning, thats probably the extent of it. Lots of packing to do for the weekend.

I'm getting lots of "its mine digger!" "its mine cup!" "its mine bike!" which is sweet but winding DS1 up a treat as they then fight over the object in question.

Blink1982 · 05/03/2015 23:36

Cupcakes, design your own card on moonpig ;)

glorious · 06/03/2015 14:51

Happy belated birthday juniper and apples!

You will both laugh (since you do this all the time) but I'm very pleased to have survived an hour and a half in hospital grounds with E and a 4 month old Grin E was so sweet and not bothered by me cuddling the baby. I'm sure that would change if it went on for longer though.

MsBug · 08/03/2015 11:38

Dd says 'share, mummy' when she wants something I have eg.sharp knives, glass of wine, the handle her reins.

Belated happy birthday juniper

I can't lie in any more, I wake up about 7am out of habit Sad

LetThereBeCupcakes · 09/03/2015 07:45

glorious where did you get the 4 month old from? Grin DS is quite keen on babies at the moment. I'm not convinced he'd feel the same way if we had a second DC though! I'm leaning more and more towards sticking at 1, TBH. Just can't see myself managing two of the little monkeys.

We haven't got "share" yet. We've got "I want some..." followed by various things he probably shouldn't have. Like Daddy Juice (coca-cola) or knives.

Took DS to have photo sitting yesterday - we were given the voucher as a wedding gift and never got around to using it, but the photographer is winding down the business so we had to use it. He was really good actually - can't wait to see the pictures.

glorious · 15/03/2015 12:27

She's a friend's cupcakes Smile It was fine but I did nothing but look after them, which isn't very realistic! Not even a nappy.

tugs thinking of you and the hopefully immanent new arrival!

MsBug · 15/03/2015 14:22

Happy mother's day everyone.

I got a pasta necklaceSmile

glorious · 15/03/2015 20:17

Oh yes happy mothers day@

Imminent. Can't spell on this phone!

AppleCrumples · 15/03/2015 23:05

Happy mothers day. hope you all had a good day.

mine involved 3 sick kids 1 sick dp and now I feel awful Sad Envy

Tugstonia · 16/03/2015 08:27

Morning all, happy mother's day for yesterday! Hope you all had good days. I got a card from DD after hinting to DP and various lovely creations DD has made at playgroups in the last week.

Apples that sounds crappy, really hope you all feel better v soon Flowers.

Thanks glorious! Feeling utterly enormous and fed up of pregnancy now. Unable to sleep despite being knackered and no chance for daytime naps because my daughter refuses to nap unless we're out in the car or buggy. 39 weeks tomorrow... DD went 12 days over so not counting on this one coming any time soon!

Hope everyone's doing well :)

LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/03/2015 08:49

Oh no apple - hope you're all on the mend soon.

Tugs do you know if the new baby is a boy or girl? Hopefully he / she won't keep you waiting too long!

Lovely mother's day here, too. DH sorted out flowers AND a card, plus DS made a little card at nursery.

Quick question for those of you with older DC - can you recomend any playmobil sets that would be suitable for DS? He was given a landrover and horse box set which he absolutely adores (I've taken away some of the really tiny pieces to prevent losing them). We got him a couple of the Playmobil 1-2-3 bits but he's not interesed - he seems to like the detail from the "proper" sets. I've got my eye on the zoo stuff - would that be OK?

glorious · 16/03/2015 20:08

apples that sounds rough. I did fail to mention DD threw up in the car on the way to our lunch and we had to buy new clothes and were very late...

tugs sorry to hear that. Must be v hard work. Is DD still at her childminder at all?

Today and Thursday E has been very unhappy at the childminder (I don't work Friday so that's two consecutive childcare days iyswim). I have no idea why. Nothing has changed. She is complaining of being tired despite sleeping better most nights (bed at 8, 1-2 wakeups, awake at 630ish, which is still not great but infinitely better than she was). Any ideas?

glorious · 19/03/2015 15:51

She's still having a rough time and the childminder thinks it's because she herself is not on top form and she wants to give up minding.

Gutted. E has been so happy there until now and loves the cm's children like sisters.

I really don't know what to do now. Have rung local v over subscribed nursery who are calling back on Tues with an idea of whether we could get a place. We could theoretically afford a nanny but ouch it's pricy. And I don't want to employ someone, or indeed rely on another individual who might (for very good reasons ) want to leave.

MsBug · 19/03/2015 19:03

glorious that sounds tough about the childminder. Dd goes to nursery and loves it. She has a key person so gets the one on one bond, but there is backup from other staff if they are off work or if they leave. She talks about her keyworker a lot and says she is her friend. She also gets to interact with lots of different adults and children and do lots of different activities and seems to have a great time.

glorious · 20/03/2015 11:49

That sounds lovely. Problem is I don't hold out much hope for a place at a good nursery round here unless we wait until September (not to mention it costs 50% more than we're paying Sad)

AppleCrumples · 21/03/2015 14:54

Msbug that sounds tough. Ds1 and 2went to a nursery which both enjoyed but we were lucky as I worked for nhs and had priority for a place there, was bloody expexpensive though!

Been a nightmare here. I spent sunday night on the bath room floor whilst someone was dicking about with the local electricity and it was on/off all night. Ivy also started throwing up after seeming to recover from saturday. Me and the dc all better but dp has had a flu like lurgy all week and then sucommed to the d and v last night! I slept on the sofa and I'm shattered from dealing with all 4 dc with no help. Am fed up of it all now :( Have washed everything on a hot wash and am the hand washing police now!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 23/03/2015 08:54

Oh no glorious what a pain! Are there any other nurseries reasonably close you could try? Have a look 'round a few and see what you think.

apple how are you all today? You must be exhausted. Any chance of a bit of help from family or anything?

DS and I have spent most of the weekend in the garden - it's been beautiful here. He was very excited to see a frog. Think it's the first time he's seen a real one and he was quite surprised by the size of it. He kept saying "frog small! frog small!". He sees so many pictures of animals in books and can identify them all in pictures, but when he sees one in real life it's clear he's got not idea of how big / small they are! Can't wait to take him to the zoo this year to introduce him to some giraffes.
