We have counting but most other things are (grunted) 'bigors' which sounds a bit too close to bugger. It's bigor this and bigor that and bigor bigor bigor.

I am struggling to get her to sleep at lunchtime too. I was sure naps don't get dropped til later? I think someone else said that too (can't look back and see or I will lose this).

Finally have 'mummy' instead of mumma which is nice. Don't know why it matters but I like it!

I need advice though. She's fed herself with a spoon for ages but always turns it upside down so it has to be sticky stuff. I was feeding her runny stuff myself. But now she screams and cries to get the bowl and spoon and then cries when the food falls off. I just don't know what to do. She gets cross when I try to show her how to hold it the right way as well. I've got a bent spoon but it's a right handed one and she's left handed. Maybe I should look for a left handed one? Help! Sorry for rambles.

Hope everyone is ok. I have school dilemmas too for DD1 at the mo. She has SN and our local school are saying they won't be able to give her any support. Which apparently is illegal and discriminatory. Pretty shit really seeing is it's our catchment one and a good school.

lolli your post made me laugh. I can't imagine anyone ever straightening a 2 year olds hair!

AppleCrumples · 03/12/2014 22:37

birdies I cannot imagine how you catch a 2 year old to straighten their hair! As soon as a hairbrush appears Ivy is off..

Re the naps mine have all done different things. Ds1 napped till he was around 2.5, ds2 still used to nap til he was 3, dd1 dropped hers fairly soon after her 2nd birthday. I still put Ivy in her cot to nap but half the time she doesn't sleep. I need her to nap though, thats my time :)

Not sure about the feeding but at this point so many things have Ivy getting cross and throwing a strop.

Have you spoken to any othet schools? Am fairly sure the school is supposed to provide such support, surely they have a SENCO? Sorry not much help.

Ivy is quite demanding, she stands by the kitchen stairgate yelling 'mama...mama' like I should be at het beck and call!

Blink1982 · 04/12/2014 01:07

I seriously dont know anyone (or perhaps i have blinkers on) who would attempt to straighten a two year olds hair! Id be there all week, even if he was asleep!

Hes had one day nap in about five days now... Im hoping its a fase(?! Sp im drunk) he'll only go sleep at the min if i time car jouneys right so he sleeps in the car, although mum said he had a kip on her sofa today, i think this is a big fat lie and im going to start demanding photographic proof of these outragious things he achieves round there and never here.

Day two of new job and im liking it! Going to pick up a little people garage i qon on ebay for 1p tomorrow.

I hope everyone is coping with colds and nap refusers :-D

jan 2013- No, I will not have a new nappy
Blink1982 · 04/12/2014 01:15

Also whats everyones bed/cot situ? Hes still in a cot and sleeping bag, he wakes up screaming with a quilt on so im waiting til warmer weather to try blankets again, saves him kicking them off and freezing.

As i said hes still in a cot and cant undo his sleepingbag enough to climb out in a morning. He did however climb out when i undid him the other day so i need to know if you ladies have put them in toddler large more able bodied baby beds or if they are still cotified. A lot of our life choices are made by what you lot do :-D

JuniperTisane · 04/12/2014 07:57

Good picture Blink Dan is still in his big cotbed and bag for the forseeable future. He isn't inclined to climb and sleeps all over his cot so duvets etc seem more of a pain to me. He's a good boy in bed.

Birdies if its any consolation although he can use spoon and fork perfectly well when he can be bothered, more often its hands all the way. I'm just leaving him to get on with it.

Love 'Bigor' Grin. We get counting too and lots of 'Plane Up! Plane Up!' when he sees one in the sky and 'Castle Me!' which I think means he wants one to play with. He's always going for the one at DS's preschool when I collect him.

Birthday present sorted I guess.

lollipoppi · 04/12/2014 16:36

Grin DD has poker straight hair, I don't even brush it after washing and it's still straight jealous made me chuckle though

Dd has started to cut out her nap, she's not had one since Monday, il be honest, I'm devastated!! She used to have 2 whole hours. But since she's nap refusing she is super cranky in the afternoons.

Blink glad the jobs going well and your enjoying it

MsBug · 05/12/2014 15:02

Just marking place as I had lost you all. Am at work so will post properly later.

MsBug · 05/12/2014 22:15

I'm back!

thanks Juniper for your advice on balance bikes on the other thread Flowers

DD is still going strong with her naps, she gets very grumpy if she is overtired and touch wood she won't drop it any time soon. She's still in a sleeping bag and a cotbed and I can't see any point in changing this - she sleeps well and can't get out of bed in the night which suits me fine.

Blink what a cutie!

Lolli that really made me laugh, who in their right mind would try to straighten a two year old's hair? DD's hair is a PITA at the moment, she hates having it brushed or washed and loves smearing porridge/calpol/snot in it. I want to cut it all off but DP says no Sad.

Birdies can't help with the left handed spoon but the fork in Boots' fork and spoon set is left handed, it's obviously designed to be used with the spoon but dd tries to use it on its own in her right hand and it all goes wrong. What do you mean by 'runny stuff'? DD normally eats soup by soaking the bread in it and eating the bread.

Cupcakes your DS is probably some kind of mathematical prodigy. DD can count to five but starts at three Xmas Confused She is currently into Raa Raa the noisy lion and Dinopaws.

Blink1982 · 07/12/2014 23:05

Ok, so hes being all face grabby and pinchy, with the odd slap thrown in :( only to me and dp though. We are trying our best to say no and ignore but we arent having loads of fun chez blink

LetThereBeCupcakes · 08/12/2014 07:37

Oh dear blink - DS is still in that phase, although it does seem to be easing off now thank goodness! I really don't think there's much else you can do. It's hard.

Loving the idea of straightening toddler hair! I have been asked if DS has naturally curly hair before. Because getting curling tongs out for your 22MO son is SUCH a good idea... Hmm

Birdies will she tollerate you putting your hand over hers to show her how to do it? DS used to tip the spoon but all of a sudden he just stopped doing it. Possibly he picked it up by watching the other children at nursery. Have you tried her with a fork? DS does much better being able to "stab" things with his fork!

We did some Christmas Crafts this weekend. There's glitter and paint everywhere but we have some lovely stars, pictures, and a Wreath for our efforts. Time to clear DS a spot in my craft room I think!

glorious · 10/12/2014 08:18

Ooh cupcakes that sounds impressive. You have a craft room? Xmas Envy

Guess what? All of a sudden and for no discernable reason E slept 8-620 last night! She was waking at least 5 times until Sunday and gradually lengthened over the last few days. I woke at 6 and was so excited I couldn't get back to sleep anyway!

I bet she won't do it again but it made me so happy!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 10/12/2014 09:13

Glorious that's fantastic! Here's hoping it's the first night of many for you guys.

My craft room is just the third bedroom and if and when we have a DC2 I will sadly have to lose my beloved craft room! I'm desperately trying to work through some of my planned projects as most of the stuff I have stashed is for something specific.

We put our Christmas Tree up yesterday. DS keeps trying to water it. It's an artifical tree. Hmm

JuniperTisane · 10/12/2014 21:07

Hooray Glorious! May it be the first of many. Dan is slightly unsettled this last couple of weeks. Lots and lots of drooling, hot cheek and shuffling round and round his cot for the last 10 days or so. He cuts teeth so badly. DS1 never gave me this amount of trouble Hmm.

Talking of children and sleep, DH went upstairs to bed last night at around 10.30, when I came up an hour later he was fast asleep and so was DS1 who had snuck in and nabbed my place in bed Shock! They were sort of curled up around each other. It was a lovely sight, I took a picture. Didn't stop me booting him back to his own bed though.

I am always in awe of crafty people. My craft stuff equates to a tin with a needle and some thread for emergency button replacement, some wonderweb and my mum on standby with her sewing machine for anything more complicated than a hem. I have two left thumbs.

JuniperTisane · 10/12/2014 21:09

Glad you sorted a balance bike MsBug We will have to compare notes after Christmas and see how they get on.

I have almost decided on getting a castle for his birthday, just need to find a good one for 2yr old fingers, not too complicated but has enough scope for DS1 to have fun with too.

JuniperTisane · 10/12/2014 21:10

We did our tree on saturday. Dan had it over within an hour of decorating but since then he has got the hang of leaving it alone, except with one of the fluffy baubles which he likes to cuddle.

Blink1982 · 10/12/2014 21:58

Ive had to let dexter take his favourite tree accessory off and keep it safely in the boot of his little tikes car thing. Its just dangly beads.

Are they just due four more teeth? I need to locate ambesol n such for the inevitable

MsBug · 11/12/2014 09:04

Our tree went up yesterday but dd is obsessed with taking the baubles off and the cat thinks it's a fancy scratching post....

JuniperTisane · 11/12/2014 14:12

Blush OK. So that unsettled night I blamed on the molar which is now through the gum? He has a burst eardrum again, both sides. Raging ear infection which what probably what caused all the unsettledness not the tooth.

Bugger.

MsBug · 12/12/2014 06:55

Oh no juniper, poor ds Flowers

glorious · 12/12/2014 20:44

Poor D, Juniper . Not your fault though, how could you know?

E still has a fair few gaps but there are 4 molars that come later, yes.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 15/12/2014 10:52

Jun how's he doing in? Bless him, it's so hard to know what's wrong when they can't tell you!

DS woke me up at 4.30 this morning with "Mummmmeeeeeeee... POO........." So I dragged myself out of bed to take him to hit potty, only for him to place his beloved Cot-Cot bear on the potty and wait for her to do a poo. Hmm

Tree-related anxieties here. DDog 2 keeps nicking the baubles, and DS keeps screaming "Noooooo! Balllllll!" and chasing her 'round to retrieve the bauble. DDog thinks this is a fantastic game.

We went to IKEA yesterday. Our living room is now an homage to Trofast.

Birdies · 15/12/2014 22:57

How is DS juniper?

Thanks for advice on spoons etc everyone. I'm now just trying to give her stuff that will stick to the spoon but will look out for the left handed one.

Good news on the sleep glorious! How has she slept since then?

cupcakes that is really really cute! How is potty training going? I haven't even started yet but will probably start soon.

lollipoppi · 16/12/2014 14:18

How is DS now juniper?
Cupcakes Grin that's funny

I've had a terrible few weeks with Dd she's got some sort of "virus" she's had a horrible cough and cold keeping her up all night and surgically attached to my hip.
I'm exhausted. She's been crying most of the day and night, and ds1 has been playing up as he has been getting zero attention. DH has been working every single day for 4 weeks now too so no help there either, honestly there has been moments I've just wanted to run away!
She does seem to be a bit better today but still very clingy.
Sorry for the rant!

We have our Christmas tree up too, dd called it ish ish tweeeeeee

JuniperTisane · 16/12/2014 18:19

He's alright. Got a day more antibiotics but he seems quite fit and well. Ratbag he is.

Poor DD and poor you, Lolli Its awful when there's no let-up. I hope she gets better soon.

Nowhere near potty training here. He's only just started telling me when he's done a poo if I haven't caught his little red face mid-strain. I can't imagine much worse than having to dig a potty out in the middle of the night.

Latest words are "I hiding!" with ducked under the table, also he's started saying his name which comes out as "Ganguw" Don't know why as he can say D quite easily in daddy.

Little sods are currently trashing my living room chasing each other while I tidy the kitchen. My work is never done...

JuniperTisane · 16/12/2014 18:21

I want to get to Ikea, I want two urban junior dining chairs for the boys but it means braving the dartford tunnel sans tollbooths and the M25 so I can't quite face it yet.
