Meringue, congratulations! Thanks

Birdies I have been doing a lot of decluttering recently - have you seen the Marie kondo thread? I have also started doing toy rotation for dd and she seems to be responding really well to it. Ie she sits and plays with a toy for a while rather than pulling all of her toys out and not really knowing what to play with.

I'll have a look for the website in a minute.

MsBug · 06/11/2014 13:55

toy rotation

Birdies · 06/11/2014 21:20

Would like to know how salt is doing too xx

msbug thanks for that, had a read through and already looking forward to getting rid of more stuff as I've still got baby toys out as well as broken things.

AppleCrumples · 06/11/2014 21:41

meringue how exciting. Congratulations x

tugs hope your scan goes well. Will you find out the flavour?

Have started my xmas/birthday shopping but finding ivy hard as she is into dd1 toys and keeps stealing her ponies but I don't want to buy yet more of the same. Am going to get a garage as ours was given away before we had her and I know she will love it.

Ivy is getying quite bolshy. She keeps stamping her foot at me if I tell her no! Although when I ask her to do things now she says 'k then doesn't bloody do it

Shes very chatty and ds1 has taught ger to say doctor (dr who) and bang. She has also got hold of his roller skates... she knows no fear Hmm

Tugstonia · 11/11/2014 14:31

Hi all,

Hope everyone's ok :) Yes salt how are you? Hope the move is going well.

Went on a bit of a spree and got DD a toy kitchen from Ikea (on sale!) with some saucepans etc, a toy garage (ELC sale!) and some other little bits. DP has bought a balance bike second hand from a colleague so may give that for her b'day.

Thanks apple - still undecided on finding out the flavour. I'm tempted to but equally liked having a surprise last time... I feel like it could be a boy as I feel quite different to last time but that could mean nothing. Did you feel differently for your dds and ds's?

DD has an ear infection :( v upset and clinging to me like a limpet. She's on antibiotics now so hopefully they'll help.

MsBug · 11/11/2014 16:52

Tugs we found out the sex with dd and would do so again...i loved being able to refer to her as a 'she' not and 'it', helped me think of her as a real person I think.

lollipoppi · 11/11/2014 18:41

Tugs I didn't find out the flavour for either. With DS I was sick, constantly, for the whole 9 months. Every.single.day, I actually lost weight during pregnancy!
With DD it was a completely different pregnancy, no sickness at all hence putting on 2 stone Blush

AppleCrumples · 11/11/2014 19:13

tugs 1st 3 were fairly similar although I had hg with ds1 but 'just' bad ms with dd1. I got a lot of bugs withh dd1 and kept ending up in hospital but put that dpwn to ds1 being at nursery! Ivy completly different. Had hg again and was more tired but hardly any bump and random bleeding all through. Found out tge flavour with the boys but both girls were totally uncooperative at the scans and nothing has changed since

Assume ivy was so hard as my poor body is completly nackered :) Personally I preferred knowing the sex but there was something very exc iting about finding out when they got here :)

Ivy missed her nap today so she was beside herself with tiredness and a total nightmare to put to bed. She keeps bringing chairs into our teeny kitchen to 'help' me Hmm

Hope everyone else ok

Blink1982 · 11/11/2014 23:41

Evening! We got the ikea kichen on monday Tugs, well my mum got her friend to get it while she was there, which means i "NEED" to go on thursday to buy the pans and extras for it :-D

I think dexters presents are all sorted now, i just need to buy for everyone else :(

Got an interview at work tomorrow, theyve called it an 'informal chat' im desperate for a change, the moneys the same but I'll be able to use my brain again, dp has an interview aswell so hopefully we'll not dread going work so much.

Did i mention the success with stretchy nappies and wraps? They stink in the morning but not had any leaks

Tugstonia · 13/11/2014 12:52

Well the scan was all fine and we're having another surprise. I kind of wanted to know the sex, but equally liked the surprise element last time, and DP agrees. I'm having growth scans at 28, 32 and 36 weeks so I guess if we change our minds we could find out then.

The Ikea kitchen seems pretty decent - wooden and fairly well made, although a tad plain to look at, not that DD cares what it looks like! A friend of mine has one and has pimped it up so maybe I'll do the same. There are loads of accessories too Blink - we got the saucepans and knitted fruit.

Hope your interview went well yesterday Blink. Dreading going to work is no fun at all.

How is everyone?

JuniperTisane · 15/11/2014 21:03

Excellent news Tugs and how restrained of you to not ask the sex! I never had the patience to wait until birth.

Blink how did the interview go? Well I hope. Fingers crossed for you.

Had a nice day in London with just DH and DS1 today, went to see Stick Man at the theatre. DS2 had a lovely day with nanny and grandad. Next year we'll take both of them but I couldn't face two tired whiney children on the train at the end of the day.

Hope everyone's well!

glorious · 15/11/2014 21:08

Yay tugs that's great news. Lots more scans so you have plenty of chances to change your mind on finding out. I'm not sure whether I would or not next time, we didn't last time and I liked that but I ummed and ahed about it for ages and I think I'd be the same again!

We have the Ikea kitchen, we got it for E's first birthday, and it has been great ever since. At first she just liked to cruise on it and open and shut the cupboards, and now she's partial to a bit of washing up and also uses it for imaginative play (just about). And it's not too garish. Hema (they're Dutch) is Bromley is good for play food and accessories as well, if you're ever in the shopping centre.

blink how was the interview?

I saw the posters for stick man juniper, was it good? Would it entertain E do you think?

We met the Gruffulo at John Lewis today. E was very scared, quite rightly I think given the write-up he gets in the book!

JuniperTisane · 15/11/2014 21:15

Hmm. I would say not yet TBH. Its quite involved and great fun but I wouldn't have expected Dan to sit still for the 55 minutes. I would consider it for him after about 2.5. Certainly the youngest child I saw was no younger than that.

Next year deffo.

DS1 (4!) was fascinated by the street dancers in Leicester Square, so much that he started trying to breakdance on the ground and got more applause than the (frankly quite rubbish) dancers themselves Blush

JuniperTisane · 15/11/2014 21:16

DS1 was afraid of the TV version of Gruffalo for ages. He's wary of it even now.

glorious · 15/11/2014 22:10

I thought as much, will leave it until next year, thanks.

Gruffalo, oops Blush

glorious · 15/11/2014 22:22

Btw is anyone introducing any Christmas traditions (or continuing in the case of those with older ones)? I'm going to fill my wooden advent calendar with things like stickers, clues to find slightly bigger things like colouring pencils, and 'vouchers' for baking/Christmassy messy play at the weekends. Probably a bit over-enthusiastic but I'm excited!

Blink1982 · 15/11/2014 22:54

Not sure how the interview went, should find out tomorrow or monday, dp darent get his hopes up but heard rumours hes favourite for the interview he went to (both jobs in the same company)

So the world of fake food for the ikea kitchen has become a bit of an obsession for me. We already have the veg from ikea but they didnt have the fruit. After ruling out wooden food projectile injury inducing food i looked at felt food and decided to crochet my own. Made an egg this eve.

Dexter really liked watching the grufallo the other week, but he has no fear of normal scary things. He ran away from a puddle of wee he produced earlier :-D

With christmas im doing the new personalised bauble each yr thing and i might do a stocking this yr, if i can be bothered with sneaking in

Blink1982 · 15/11/2014 22:55

My egg :-D

jan 2013- No, I will not have a new nappy
glorious · 16/11/2014 20:13

Ooh great egg! We do stockings for everyone anyway so DD will definitely get one. I've got a little book of how to do shadow animals for DH's, which is also for E, and a balloon animal kit for E's. Not got any further yet there's ages until Christmas, right?!

JuniperTisane · 16/11/2014 20:53

Thats a great crochet egg Blink. I have two left thumbs so no such homemade creations here.

I swept the shelves of The Entertainer last weekend looking for stocking stuff for the boys. Bouncy light-up ball, little board books, a large Schleich animal each, toy vehicle each, slipper sock thingies, wooden whistle thingy, novelty toothbrush so far plus the obligatory satsuma and mini sweet of course. I've tried to mainly go for stuff which needs no or very little help to enjoy (the point being little darlings can occupy themselves while mummy and daddy try to hold out sleeping til 6am Hmm.)

DS1 also has an inflatable globe and a whoopee cushion, without which no self-respecting 4-year-old's christmas would be complete.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 17/11/2014 07:59

Hi everybody. Been a hideous week in the cupcake household. DS came down with a nasty D&V bug and ended up in hospital he was so dehydrated. Poor boy. He still won't eat - keeps asking for food ("Toast-Jam!") but then cries when I give it to him Sad. No idea what to do with him. He's had nothing but breastmilk since last Tuesday.

DH and I also came down with it, but of course it had MUTATED by the time DH got it and was FAR worse that anything anybody had ever suffered ever in the history of the world Hmm.

Blink I love that egg! Non-injury-inducing toys sound fabulous. What else are you going to crochet? Best of luck with the job.

Glorious I'm pondering Christmas Traditions myself. I think I'm going to do an "advent Hamper" which will basically contain our christmas books / CDs / films / advent calendars plus a few christmas crafty bits. That's assuming I actually manage to finish the advent calendar in time...

lollipoppi · 17/11/2014 21:13

I love the egg!!

Cupcakes, poor DS I hope he is on the mend, he will start eating when he is ready, it's hard not to worry, I would say if he's not eating in a few days then take him back to the docs. Just keep offering little nibbles like toast and fruit. Ice pops are always handy when my DS stops eating if poorly

I'm doing a Christmas Eve box, hot choc, Christmas Pajamas, a special plate for Santas mince pie, reindeer food, I LOVE Christmas
Im going to start making some tree decorations for the kids to paint
........ In the meantime me and DP have made this huge bow for our shop, just need the ribbons going up the front and side of the shop and a massive brown gift tag then it should look like a present!

jan 2013- No, I will not have a new nappy
Blink1982 · 17/11/2014 23:10

I got the job :-D start on 1st dec. dp should find out tomorrow if he's got his job

Hows your ds cupcakes? Poor guy.

Im planning on making everything :-D bacon, sausages, bananas, bread and sanwich bits. Once i get a craft bug i cant shake it off!

MsBug · 18/11/2014 07:37

Congratulations blink!

Lolli your shop looks great!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 18/11/2014 07:43

Blink I'm like you when it comes to craft. I'm in the middle of making DS an advent calendar. Need to pick up the pace a bit if I'm going to get it done by December 1st. I've got so many half-finished projects it's ridiculous! Congratulations on the new job! Hope your DP gets good news too.

Loli your shop is beautiful. Did you say it's a florist?

DS ate about half his lunch at nursery yesterday, which is an improvement. He usually eats 2 helpings at least so still a little way to go.

We had to have my beautiful rabbit pts last night - her kidneys had gone. She did well though, I've had her 7 years and she's a rescue so was probably pushing 8 if not older. Her partner is pining for her Sad
