Name change not miscarriage....

MsBug · 01/10/2014 15:08

Gah, just typed a long post and lost it. Will post properly later.

MsBug · 01/10/2014 15:37

DD has quite recently started saying lots of words, one minute she hardly said any then the next she was copying everything we say...including dp saying 'shit' the other day Shock

lollipoppi · 01/10/2014 22:46

Oh god that list made me laugh Grin

DD has words that I'm sure only I can understand, she's getting there though

Top of her list at the moment is wee wee, drags me to the bathroom, gets her seat out of the cupboard ..... Never does a wee! I think she's just picked it up off ds1 and is copying him, I'm not sure if she's actually ready to potty train?

In other news DP put her down for a nap yesterday, went back in 5 mins later to find her sat on the windowsill ShockShock she had climbed from her cot into the windowsill, time for a bed!!??

MsBug · 01/10/2014 23:45

Yeah dd says 'wee wee', sits on the potty, we read a story, she gets off, claps herself... And hasn't done anythingConfused

JuniperTisane · 02/10/2014 13:22

Oh god. Terrible swimming class today. Dan tantrummed so hard in the water I had to remove him early. He was so stroppy he very nearly reduced me to tears. I bunged him in the pushchair and walked into town to look for jeans for both boys. Found nothing suitable. Got coffee in Neros and he whinged the whole time I was drinking and he was eating his lunch. He's gone to bed for a bit now and I am finally starting to wind down.

Its been a SHIT morning.

He will bounce up and down on the potty but has no idea what he's supposed to do in it. He's more interested in the picture of Thomas on the front. I don't expect potty training to be really on the horizon for a long time. DS1 was 3.sodding 4 when he did it.

Nice namechange Lora. Your DH is an idiot.

JuniperTisane · 02/10/2014 13:40

Thats a bit scary Lolli I know mum told me my brothers were 19 months when they climbed out of their cots which were side-by-side. Dan has never contemplated it thank goodness. He is staying in a bag til he's at least 2.5.

MsBug · 02/10/2014 13:56

DD is still in a sleeping bag and also she has short legs so isn't close to escaping from her cot. She can now climb onto the windowsill which means the windows in her room have to be locked shut and it gets quite stuffy in there.

Juniper sounds like a nightmare, do you think he is going down with something? We have all got colds, I think we are in for another winter of being permanently snotty

JuniperTisane · 02/10/2014 14:05

Wouldn't surprise me MsBug. He's just so confident and happy normally, I don't know if its a bit to do with panicking because he's worked out that the water is deep as well.

I usually have the small window open and the big window locked on the air setting unless the wind is up and the blind gets blown about. His room is registering around 21-22 degrees at night still.

lollipoppi · 02/10/2014 16:39

Juniper hope your afternoon has improved?

For now I have moved her cot away from the window, she hasn't done it again thank goodness, I'm not ready to put her in a bed yet.

Lora why would your DH do that, hope it wasn't a thread about him, that would be awkward Shock

JuniperTisane · 02/10/2014 19:54

Yeah it has eventually. It git marginally worse when I had a run-in with the village busybody who came over to complain about the tree surgeon cutting down our tree, except its just being pruned by a large amount. He got put right by me, the tree man from his harness un the bloody tree and the council officer in charge of conservation who was overseeing it all.

Never mind I'm in the bath now, dh has out the boys to bed and I have chicken Kiev and chips cooking in the oven

AppleCrumples · 02/10/2014 21:47

lolli oh dear. Ivy keeps climbing upthe side of hers, I fear it is only a matter of time as she has already escaped from both her sleeping bag and her pyjamas Confused

juniper bet you're glas todays over. Has he been tired recently or not napping? Ivy missed her nap 2 days running thus week and was a total nightmare this morning so we stayed in and she had a 2 hour nap.

She has loads of words now though most only I understand. The best i s when I call dinner from the kitchen and a little voice goes 'dinntime' . She even actually joins in at rhyme time now

Blink1982 · 02/10/2014 22:57

It was on a vaping thread so no serious damage, i just hope he doesnt search my past posts :-o he joined up because he loves it and most people are on our wave length, but i told him he'd crossed the line and invaded my 'safe place'

We havent got any climbing out of cot issues yet thank god, and as soon as the heating starts coming back on hes back in his envelopes (sleeping bags to everyone else)

Is anyone suffering at tea times? He wont eat anything unless its a nutella sandwich or finger type oven food like carrot waffles, chips and sausages, i dont know wether to just cave in and give him the food i know he'll eat help!!!

JuniperTisane · 03/10/2014 17:41

So we just got home from the farm, lots of exercise and fresh air, both Dan and me are tired. Dan bounces into the kitchen jumps on the sofa, points at the telly and shouts "Beebies!"

Blush

No lentil-weavery in this house obviously...

Blink1982 · 06/10/2014 22:17

So after doing some digging in the parenting section ive ordered a book 'getting the little blighters to eat' i was adament i wouldnt raise a fussy eater and it looks like im doing a stirling job of failing at that :-D

LetThereBeCupcakes · 07/10/2014 07:28

Blink I don't suppose there's a book entitled "how to get the little blighters to STOP eating"? DS is a gannet. On the one hand, it's great - I can feed him anything, but on the other he keeps harpooning things off of my plate! I lost an entire sausage on Sunday Hmm.

Also, I'm a bit scared of your new nn.

Birdies · 07/10/2014 08:53

I have a greedy gannet here as well. She's just finished her usual 2 weetabix and a banana breakfast. Dont know where it all goes. Having said that blink, if she sees chocolate or biscuits whilst having her tea she will completely stop eating her tea until she gets them.

After worrying about words, X is suddenly saying quite a bit! It seems to always happen like this, I worry, post on here and then the next week it's all fine. As well as other things she can now also say 'no' and is enjoying using it, eg "would you like to get in the car rather than run off down the road.... "no" ".

Has anyone else got an accident prone one? Last week she fell and bit through her bottom lip. I've never seen so much blood. Thank goodness my mum was there as I was in a right panic. We thought she'd damaged her top teeth too. Her lip ended up sticking out a mile and went black and green. Thankfully it seems to be mending quite well. It was awful though (mainly for her obv, she cried for about an hour). I'm wondering if her slightly uneven legs make her fall more (we finally have a physio apmt for that this week), but it's probably just cos she's so active.

Can't believe all the cot climbing. So when that happens you move to a single bed? How do you stop them wandering about the house though?!

juniper how is Dan now? Has he been swimming again since?

LetThereBeCupcakes · 07/10/2014 09:05

Birdies DS used to be very accident prone but seems to have grown out of it - despite being a proper dare-devil! Not sure if it's just because he's getting more careful or because of his Tumble Tots classes.

Birdies · 07/10/2014 09:12

Ooh funny you say that cupcakes as I am thinking of taking her to tumble tots to use up some of her energy! Will def try it then.

Right so just as an example, I pop to the loo for a minute just now and hear some crying and think "what's she done now" and this is what I find.....stuck in the potty chair!!

jan 2013- No, I will not have a new nappy
AppleCrumples · 07/10/2014 09:30

birdies ds1 did something similar when he was 5 and ended up with stitches. Some are more accidemt prone than others. Ds2 has always been a bundle of energy and was constantlu getting into scrapes as a toddler. He is still more accident prone than the rest as he runs everywhere :)

re moving to a bed we always put stairgates on the door to at least keep them in their room.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 07/10/2014 09:30

It's been a godsend for us - not just for using up energy and teaching DS gross motor skills, but also teaching me how to support him (and when to leave him to get on with it!).

Be aware that it is franchised so every group is different. Ours is brilliant but I hear some aren't so good. You should be able to have a free child before you commit though.

lollipoppi · 07/10/2014 11:03

Dd is quite accident prone too, actually I'm surprised She's not had a serious accident well apart from falling out the back door resulting in sedation and a ct scan Shock but seriously she is such a climber
I've started taking her to toddler gymnastics, I suppose it's just like tumble tots but not as structured, she loves it
Dd must take after my mum, she had a fall at work yesterday and dislocated her knee cap and bumped her head hope she doesn't sue me and DP, that would be awkward !!

JuniperTisane · 07/10/2014 11:10

We don't have tumble tots near here but I've looked up the local leisure centre who do something similar called Gyminis. They only take from 2yrs though so I'm thinking stop the swimming lessons and start this in January instead.

I haven't been back swimming yet Birdies. His next lesson is theoretically on thursday but I think I'm going to leave it. He is getting very clingy to me when other people are about that aren't family and I wonder if the whole having to go to teacher for a second just freaks him out completely. As soon as we were out of sight of Gwen on thursday he calmed down completely. Maybe he just hates her Confused

Like the potty picture. Dan puts his on his head and says Hat.

Ouch for your mum Lolli hope she's ok soon.

Blink1982 · 07/10/2014 22:16

I thought tumble tots were really pricey so we go to the leisure centre one too, although all he does is play with a car and ball, he goes on the equipment maybe once the whole time.

Hows your mum lolli?

Did anyone have massive weight to lose aftr the kiddiwinks? I had about 5st to lose!!!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 08/10/2014 07:51

Blink I think the cost must vary from group to group - presumably overheads vary eg cost of hall hire? Ours is 6 a session which I'm happy with. Our local Soft Play is 5 a go so not much less! I'm still scared of your nn.

I had the opposite problem - lost 3 stone after DS was born! Have put half a stone back on now and seem to have stabilised (thank goodness - can't afford more clothes!). Sorry to those who are struggling to lose baby weight. I was pretty ill after I had DS though!

Jun thanks for your reply on my Christmas Present thread. Did you notice you were the only person to actually answer my question? Grin

Apple I think we'll want to put a stair gate on DS' room when we move him to a bed. He'll be getting in to all kinds of trouble otherwise! Does anybody know if you can get gates that fit with the door still in place? We keep his door pulled shut once he's in bed as he's nearest the stairs and if we leave it open we'd disturb him every time we went to the loo etc.

DH had to carry DS to nursery still asleep this morning! He left him in a corner on a pile of cushions. Bless
