Go Deids and Jam! I like a nice story involving inappropriate display of private parts.

Rubes, in super impressed with all your cycling. And jealous of the nursery leavers lunch. I can't believe your DD is reception already, I imagine ALL the younger siblings as babies.

We have had reports Hons. DD2s was lovely, full of praise for this role abiding, polite, helpful, inquisitive child that I am not sure I have ever met. DD2 wrote the sweetest letter to her teacher who she has quite the crush on, my favourite line was "I loved lirning evrything but most I lyked sitting nir you in the moornings."

Mckayz · 15/07/2014 21:05

We got reports. DS1 needs to listen more. I think his report will always say that for his entire school life.

TheInvisibleHand · 16/07/2014 21:12

funny old day. DS out of sorts and finally fell asleep in my bed around 4. Left to go up north for a meeting, only to realize I had only taken trainers so had to fit in emergency shoe shopping. missed the train home and am still pootling back. I need my bed. ideally without DS in it. And we are supposed to go on the school camping trip on Friday. Its a lot of fun, but not sure I am up for 2 nights in a field with 70-80 over-excited small people and their parents. I need to sleep....and breathe

Reports for DCs tomorrow. Though I can guess what they will say.

Arti - any news of your au pair? That is really awful.

Rubes - can't believe your DD is off to school!

TheInvisibleHand · 16/07/2014 21:14

MC - following your fitbit exploits with interest. spent an entire dinner being regaled by some senior lawyer telling me how fantastic it was and how all his partners have them.

Invis you really are interested in the fitbit! We are going camping too this weekend: 18 under 8s, woo hoo! Where are you going? We are headed to rural Sussex.

Our au pair returns on Saturday. She actually seems to be handling everything really well considering. Luckily she has a large and close family which I think has been really helpful. She is clear she wants to come back for these last two weeks and I just hope she still feels like that when faced with the reality of being away from her family.

DS took his first three steps yesterday. He obligingly did it on a rare afternoon where I was not only with him but had my camera trained on him. I can't believe he's turning into a toddler. My last ever baybeeeee is growing so fast .

TheInvisibleHand · 16/07/2014 22:36

oops sorry about that. Comes of posting on a train with intermittent WiFi after a glass of virgin train's finest

Aspargi - glad the au pair is looked after and doing OK. Yay to your DS being so obliging! We're the other side of London for the camping, kind of close to Whipsnade so not far. Not sure about all those thunderstorms that are supposed to hit on Saturday.

JamInMyWellies · 17/07/2014 09:31

Arto glad the aupair is coming back, I think for her and you its good to be able to say goodbye properly.

Its all kicking off at school. A party in DS1 clas yesterday not all children were invited. one mum whose child wasnt invited spouting off about it all over FB last night. This morning in school child whose party it was is being shouted at by uninvitee. This mother is a total nightmare I cant believe 1, you would put bollocks like that on FB or 2, discuss it with your child so that they then go into school and have a go at party child. I told the teacher as poor DS1 sits inbetween them and I dont want him involved as I left teacher was having stern words. Why do people put shite like that on FB.

Mckayz · 17/07/2014 12:15

Jam that's awful! I've found with DS1 now that the parties are smaller. Instead of being the whole class it's the close friends of the birthday child.

IAmDeids · 17/07/2014 13:11

Good grief Jam. That's ridiculous!! I've never quite understood the mentality of those types of parents!

DD tends to go to parties for her select group of friends. TBH after a Reception year I think the number party attendees tends to reduce.

ShadyLadyT · 17/07/2014 16:57

Hello lovely ladies...am coming up for air after a week of pushing myself too hard, finishing off work and stuff. I have a few more bits to do before I leave for Corfu tomorrow afternoon but the worst is behind me...Arti, I would have loved to have seen you this week but I had to cancel Tuesday's trip to London because I was too busy with other stuff, then buzzed in with DD2 today to have my glucose test but as I had to drop DD1 off at school this morning, I only had time to get my test done (you need one and half hours for it) before I flew back to Paddington to get me the train that would get me to my village in time for school pick up. I was trying to finish a 4000 word report on the train and DD2 needed the loo four times. Give me strength.

Jam, nothing surprises me about school politics. People behave like nitwits. The politics are quite deadly at our school, as I have mentioned before. So shaming, especially when they get the kids involved!

Anyway Arti, I am glad your au pair is coming back for the last bit - good for her. When do you break for recess? I will be in over the summer...and still hoping for a picnic with some of you if we can muster it!

Rubes, I just can't believe your DD is off to school, it seems like five minutes since she was born...I say, your nursery leavers' lunch sounds jolly civilised! I am tens of miles from nearest Pizza Express Grin All sorted for your folks? Must be DD's birthday imminently?

MC/Invis - DP has a FitBit, I bought him one in with his Christmas presents. Will be getting myself one for use apres-October! Although DP has abandoned his, he only wore it for a couple of months.

I remembered today that I hadn't got a medical cert to say I could fly tomorrow. And my consultant is away. And I definitely need one as you need one when you are 28 weeks plus. Her assistant is going to beg the other consultant in the practice to do it and hopefully email it through tomorrow. I know they are cursing me as it's a pain in the ass. I am leaving the house at 3pm tomorrow, pleeeeeeeease may it come through before then.

Am a bit worried about the journey tomorrow. Have to get the hour long bus to Oxford, then train to Birmingham airport. It's really the managing the luggage that is daunting me. Oh, and the fact that we won't actually land until about 01.20 on Saturday morning. The girls will be practically liquefying with tiredness. Enjoy the heatwave, girls, and I will be tuning in when I can.

beans39 · 17/07/2014 21:05

Lady, just fib about how pregnant you are. I did. They have no way to check xx

ShadyLadyT · 17/07/2014 21:09

Ooh, did you Beans? DP suggested that. We have just had a row about his mother. Sigh. I think we're both being unreasonable but I think I have more excuse! Will bore on about it another time.

Mckayz · 18/07/2014 09:28

I've already been crying at the teaching assistant in DS1's class. Any ideas on how I get through the leavers assembly without looking like an idiot? Though I think there will be lots of tears. Sad

JustRubes · 18/07/2014 10:01

kayz you won't be the only one!
dd's last day nursery today Sad I've got a million things to do, and say but seriously no time to! Work tomorrow night which I've been desperate to swap as it's a 90th birthday of dh gnan but tbh with the roll call there I'm wondering if I've got the better deal. I'm just slightly irked that some of the atendees get to see the dcs by default when don't make any effort otherwise. And I'm not quite loving the lack of control! I seriously need to get past these issues but don't know how!
Lady - you are far too busy! I am at the mo but I'm not up duffed!!
must post - back later I hope x

JustRubes · 18/07/2014 10:02

ugh spelling sorry

ShadyLadyT · 18/07/2014 11:28

Just quickly - have got flying cert but flunked glucose test! So have to return asap for more detailed one involving fasting etc. However, my consultant's asst tells me "it's probably because you are getting on a bit". Cheeky! Grin Well, I hope it IS only that...time to retire my ovaries for sure!

TheInvisibleHand · 18/07/2014 12:21

lady - I flunked one too with DS, but the fasting one came out fine. I think SIL got preggo diabetes. Just nuisance factor I think, wouldn't overly worry.

Honsandrevels · 18/07/2014 13:02

Urgh, the fasting glucose test. Lucozade after being starving is hideous. Hope you pass that one with flying colours lady.

Does anyone know anything about employment law? Basically my younger brother has autism and learning disabilities and has been working 26hrs a week at t e s c o for over 10 years. Last week he fainted at work. He's been to the gp. All seems fine, just a one off. Now his manager is trying to reduce his hours by 1/3 as 'he isn't physically up to the job' and, 'the economic climate means we can't 'carry' people like x anymore'. I'm livid! He works 3 times harder than anyone else stacking shelves and hasn't has a single problem prior to the one off faint.

Clearly the faint is an excuse and because he is less deployable elsewhere, e.g he can't go on the tills, so it is because of his autism and learning disabilities that they want to cut his hours.

I know they have to make adjustments under the Autism act but wondered if anyone can advise how to challenge it. He is in the union but my dad is convinced that contacting them will make it worse. I can't see how it can harm anything as help and advice is what they are there for.

Sorry this is so long! If anyone has any ideas do let me know. I'm so fucking mad!

beans39 · 18/07/2014 14:51

Hons, my sister is a solicitor and husband is an employment barrister, but they're the nutty ones and am not 100% sure if they'll help. I can give it a go though?
Sybs, might you know someone who can help?

Honsandrevels · 18/07/2014 16:10

Thanks Beans. You are kind. How is your nutty sister?

My dad has come to his senses and involved the union. They're very clued up and are going to the next meeting. I feel much less stressed now.

Weird weather here today. Really cold and v windy this morning. A quick thunderstorm and now it is humid and hot. Isn't it supposed to be the other way round and cold after thunder?

beans39 · 18/07/2014 19:29

I am sweltering. but I love the heat so it's a real treat. I had a shower with DD3 in my arms tonight. she's 10 months today. weird enough that DD2 is going into reception, but DD3 is already that old. she discovered the dog's water bowl today. joy.

crawling is a while new world of pain... get ready. Jam, you're next.....

Mckayz · 19/07/2014 07:08

When are we going to get a storm? It's not fair.

I didn't cry at the leavers assembly, then DS1 appeared with his TA when I picked the boys up and they were both crying, so I started and DS2 did. Terrible.

I've just 'seen' Verso in AIBU, not seen her about for ages!
