Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Mckayz · 20/07/2014 07:01

Woke up this morning to find some prat has knocked my wing mirror off and there are scratches all along the side. I only got 2 hours sleep last night. Feeling really terrible this morning.

beans39 · 21/07/2014 09:17

Oh bad luck, Kayz.

I am about to do some name tape sewing for DD2's next term uniform. eek!!!

MontserratCaballe · 21/07/2014 12:37

Hons, I am no employment lawyer but that looks very wrong. TBH, his union should step up now and advise him, as that is what they are there for and what we all pay our subs for. I do know several friends who are employment lawyers if that would help - let me know.

Kayz - bugger about the car. Hope it gets sorted swiftly and not too expensively.

Beans, you are super mum doing your labelling already. I haven't bought anything for next year yet. I can't believe T is crawling already! Where does the time go? All of mine have tried catfood (yeuch) which is bizarre given how old they are! Strange children.

Right, grout my face then out to a school picnic. The joys!!

Vagolajahooli · 21/07/2014 13:12

Hons as a advocate for people with disabilities in my old life and also a manager, without knowing more information, just based on what you have told me, your brother's boss doesn't have a leg to stand on. He has made an assessment of his fitness to work without getting occupational health and safety involved, he doesn't seem to have gotten HR involved & if he had they would have told him a) to get occ health involved & b) to tell your brother the reduction of hours with either a union rep or other personally chosen representative for your brother. These are all requirements for any employees, whether disabled or not. Anyone could faint at work, it's freaking hot. This actually makes my blood boil, regardless of disability, where is the care for the staff these days. DH was about to right one of his staff off because he has RSI, I know the guy & I know regardless of what sick pay he would get, not working would make him really depressed. So I got DH to sort out occ. Health for him and to look at voice recognition technology to help him do his job (which involved lots of coding). Low and behold there is lots available out there, that with just a little investment from the company would help this guy keep working.

right rant over, but one last thing Hons, it might be worth contacting an autism charity to see what advice and support they can give. Maybe they could go to the workplace and talk to the manager and staff about working with someone with Autism. There are a lot of misconceptions out there and a little knowledge can help reduce bullying and help everyone.

Lady I hope you pass the next test. At least there is no study involved. Have a relaxing time in Corfu. Sorry about the effort to get there. If possible give yourself ample time to get to the airport & take a lot of deep breaths. The girls will be fine, I've had my boys doing 24hr + flights and arriving at crazy hours without barely a grumble. The excitement of the arrival will keep them going.

So I'm off here for a week and you ladies are flashing your bits all over, really tut tut.

Kayz you poor thing, I'm useless with uncontrolled weeping. I actually am really fearing the last day of school here before we go home, the dutch don't show much emotion, but I am a very emotional person so I know I will blub.

Speaking of which, only crossing fingers for now, but DH is in advanced talks with a company about an awesome job in Australia, which, as they say in the game, is location independent. Basically, he will work from home when he is not on site. So we can live in Brisbane. I'm chuffed to bits, I was quite worried, due to the nature of his industry in Australia, that he would be taking a step back and doing quite mundane stuff, but this is a very juicy job. The nice bit is, he met the managing director for this group when he was here selling the product to the company DH works for here, & during the meeting they fell in love. It's a little bromance. The manager has had him speak to all the others he needs to and they all love him too. So sweet.

Gosh I have gone on already. And I haven't even told you about our little holiday last week. oh and more importantly. I'm coming to London on the 6th to 10th August & I've arranged to fly out of Stansted on the 10th so I can possibly meet up with young Beans. Anyone else in the area?

Vagolajahooli · 21/07/2014 13:14

WRITE! not right.

Mckayz · 21/07/2014 13:16

What time Vag? I am meeting another MN friend for an hour or so early on the 10th at Stansted. But we need to set off about half 11 to go visit my family

Honsandrevels · 21/07/2014 13:46

Thanks sybs and Vag. Good rant there Vag, I enjoyed it! We're waiting for the next meeting now when the union will be there. Apparently last week he signed a new work contract. No one explained it to him and he can hardly read Hmm.

Fingers crossed for dh's job. Sounds brilliant!

Kkayz Someone bust our wing mirror last night too. It is still on but the glass is hanging off. Might just use duct tape.

Mckayz · 21/07/2014 14:08

Mine has been duck taped on. I have to get DH from Manchester on Wednesday. I'm hoping it'll be ok. The insurance company are picking it up Thursday to repair it.

Vagolajahooli · 21/07/2014 14:59

Sorry Kayz it's early days, I'm still fleshing out my itinerary for the trip. I think I'll be in Hither Green, south London on the night on the 9th so don't think I could getup to Stansted before 11am. How sad I that, we'll be like ships passing in the night...but in the late morning.

Hons this manager will be lucky if he gets off from this case without a severe reprimand. He has acted terribly in this. I have a feeling this might reveal some quite nasty cans of worms. Keep us informed.

IAmDeids · 21/07/2014 21:04

Hons I'm so sorry your brother has been treated so badly. I really hope the union help him to get this sorted. What a total dick that manager isAngry

Vag fingers & toes crossed for your DH and that job.

Kayz hope your wing mirror is sorted ASAP. Knobs!! I hate things like that, really makes me mad.

DS school report was a treat! He needs to 'manage his distractions'. Or stop trying to act like a clown in class Grin. Can't believe how far he's come in 12 months Smile

beans39 · 23/07/2014 10:32

Lovely Vag, I'm afraid I head off on hols up to Wales on 10th! Aaaagh! That is SO irritating... Jam, are you around? She's pretty nearby.
Bum bum bum.

Is it just me, or do you guys find you feel cross with your DH about 80% of the time? I'm not in a huff about anything in particular, just general resentment and feeling under appreciated! Girls break up today. I don't know who's more ready, them or me!

Vagolajahooli · 23/07/2014 16:00

oh poop, no worries, I'll hang out with my south London buddy a little longer that day.

Been watching the two military planes landing in Eindhoven, bawling and red eyed now. Those poor people. Heartbreaking hearing from the mum & dad who sent their 3 kids home with Grandad so they could have a few days break for themselves. So much pain.

I've switched over to Wanted down under, much nicer. It is a beautiful day here but I've got a load of uni work to do and a mountain of folding. DH is off this week so has taken the boys to the beach. He has his final interview tomorrow and then he will start the pay and contract process. We have a pay & benefits package we have in mind that we'd like but we also want a decent repatriation package. Fingers crossed we get a good one.

Mckayz · 23/07/2014 17:17

How very sad Vag Sad

Fingers crossed that you get a good package.

DH came gone today. It's lovely having him here and DD has taken to him immediately instead of it taking a day or 2.

MontserratCaballe · 24/07/2014 07:41

Lovely to hear that DH is back, Kayz. How long for? Are you going to get to go away en famille?

Vag, I would so love to come to see you but we go to Devon on the 9th. If you are in London and free on the 7th in the evening I could come up but I expect you have plans already. Let me know.

Beans, I know DH appreciates what I do when he thinks about it, it's just that he rarely does! He assumes that clean shirts will be available, supper made, bills paid etc. Usually only spots that I do it all if something doesn't get done for some reason. I do feel cross with him quite a lot but I try to keep it in. It is difficult as I do have 2 days when I don't work and the children are at school, so I suppose I should do more than him. Manage to fit in a few runs and swims on my free days though! The problem is for DH that he thinks staying at home isn't work as when he is at home he doesn't do any chores (apart from cooking, which we both like and doesn't count). I have repeatedly tried to disabuse him of this. You are looking after 3 kids, 1 of whom isn't even one, so that is work in itself. Sorry you are pissed off. You are not alone.

Deids, I am impressed by your running. Need to get back into it properly. I have bought a fitbit to keep track of my steps etc here and my friends and I are fitbitches together, tracking steps and seeing who can do the most. It's addictive.

First day of the holidays - yippee! I am working a bit but the children are off. Today, breakfast at Caffe Nero, shopping for ballet hair stuff and holiday scrap books, 2 piano lessons and a lot of sitting around watching Netflix (them) and reading magazines (me). Bliss

IAmDeids · 24/07/2014 08:32

First morning of the school hols and we are heading to the dentist for routine check ups. Lucky kids!

Beans I am a bit like MC. I don't work Monday & Friday, so on those days feel that I should do all the washing/ironing/shopping etc. I am so much more busy and tired on those days. DH doesn't really get it, which is irritating. Then every now and again he will be off with me on one of those days and will say something like "do you never sit down?". I usually end up saying "No I don't, could you imagine if I worked FT??" Then he gets it...but will forget again after a few weeks.

Yes my running is going well...although my routine is now thrown out during the holidays. I like running in the morning, straight after the kids go to school. But I will now have to go in an evening when DH is home and sometimes that is pretty late at the moment. Or get up at 6 and go before DH leaves Hmm. But I will have to force myself. Only 5 weeks till we go to Spain. Still not bikini ready Grin.

IAmAPaleontologist · 24/07/2014 08:34

Getting you back on my list. AT home with a poorly child today so may get the chance to catch up. Supposed to be at a funeral but ds2 spent the night with a temp of over 39C so dh has gone with the others and we are at home. To top it off ds1 announced he had an itchy bum last night so I went hunting and he has worms again. Washing machine in overdrive. Need to get off my arse and clean and damp dust and whatnot.

Catch up on all your news in a bit!

Mckayz · 24/07/2014 11:32

He's back until the start of sept. He's having to have a short leave as he's done extra at work this time. So to make sure he's back for our holiday next year.

We have a really busy summer planned. Glasgow on Sunday for the commonwealth games. Then we have a week at PILs which I love as they're great. Camping with my mum and step dad and Calais for a day. I'll need a holiday.

MontserratCaballe · 25/07/2014 22:50

Where is everyone ? XX

Vagolajahooli · 25/07/2014 23:23

I'm here Sybs but super busy with kids & DH on holidays and an assignment due in a week eek

Asparagui · 26/07/2014 08:23

I'm here too, reading but failing to contribute much. I have one more week of work but am desperate to be on holiday. Soooooo exhausted. We are venturing out to the countryside today, probably Blenheim Palace with a big picnic. Last weekend was our annual camping trip with 18 kids. It was so fun but little sleep was had and I feel I am still suffering. Anyone else find it impossible to sleep much in this heat? Not helped by the lack of curtains in our bedroom, it's like a hot, shiny white cube by 5.15am.

JamInMyWellies · 26/07/2014 09:37

I'm here too. Super busy with the holidays. Loving all the sun!

Will be back later. DH is on a first responders course this wkend so hopefully will get a chance later to post.

MontserratCaballe · 26/07/2014 09:53

Today is the first day in forever where we have NO PLANS. there is no dancing, drama, football or parties. I have been out for a swim a d am now on kitchen sofa drinking coffee in sunshine. I may be here some time.

I think later I will dabble in paddling pool and possibly make a cake. Hard life.

Arti, I can inly sleep under a sheet with the fan whirring away. I have slept so badly in the last few days too. Last night was a bit cooler so I feel more refreshed today. Hope you get some rest. Can you watch a DVD with the kids with your eyes closed this weekend?

Hope you are all having fun

IAmDeids · 26/07/2014 16:50

I'm here! But ill. I had a really bad tummy ache all day yesterday. Started getting ready for my night out. Threw up everywhere. In bed at 7.30Sad. I was so looking forward to it as well. And it's so hot! Sleep was fitful. I feel totally drained today.

beans39 · 27/07/2014 07:03

I'm here too. had a most lovely day yesterday. DH actually had no plans for the first time in so long and we spent the day at home. it was glorious and I think/hope DH realised the loveliness of just hanging with our children. we laughed loads and he got DIY done and gardening and it was idyllic.
I was telling my (normal) sister about it and she asked if we'd had sex the night before as DH was being so lovely. strangely enough, we had!!! hee hee! and last night. what's happening??? perhaps my libido is finally returning after 6 years of on/off rest!!

deids, are you feeling any better?

beans39 · 27/07/2014 07:04

It's Mum's birthday today, so she's coming up abd we're taking her out for lunch. DH is then off to play cricket. I have watched for the past 3 matches, but think I'll give it a miss today. It's so boring!!!
