Eliza the android app is fixed! Whoop!

Kyz · 29/05/2014 20:41

Evening ladies (and luis if you're lurking somewhere)

Busy day today, due to wild rat visitors i've moved my rats indoors so I can clear out the shit tip rat shed, so today was mostly me moving the rats to my old room at my mums and then clearing a heap of crap. I will clear some more crap tomorrow, fun fun fun!!

Guys, do you have any fish recipes for me? I am not very worldy when it comes to fish, and although I've had it other ways, i'd say 99% of the times i've eaten fish it's been fish, mash, parsley sauce and peas, fish pie, or fish and chips. E will eat fish fingers, dp hasn't ever eaten fish unless it has batter on or is in a fish pie. I am keen to get the both of them eating new things now i've got the chance, if possible. I have had things like honey and something or other salmon, or something sat on a heap of noodles and whatnot. Thanks in advance!

how was your day chick?

Hmmm stunt this isn't the first i've heard of that kind of a thing, my mum was told the same thing regarding dyslexia tests for my sister, and it wasn't until she got to secondary school, so yr 7, that she had a test, and tbh without speaking to my mum i'm not sure that it wasn't something she had to sort herself as you have.

aha, fish pie, nom, thanks for that pp

hope the jab has worked pr!!

i'll give that a whirl bplp thankyou :) and re: the cooker, I am getting more and more narked because the broken new one is sat in the middle of my not that big kitchen and I am hoping the bastarding company pick it up before the weekend or I'll be shouting down the phone, I expect.

eek pikz very early start, that! Hope today has been a nice easy one for you? Facebook pics of your hair, yes?

another mouth watering set of meals planned pr as always! nomnom!

wanda how has today been? I think you're bound to be a bit emotional following your last day in the office and everything. I bet you'll do fab with ds1 and reading :)

glad J hasn't been too bad stunt and I hope the ADs help to make you feel a little better soon, and fingers crossed lost kitty is back soon!

Food talk has me hungry too. Can I be arsed to make a salad? I have purposefully not bought any choklit and it's killing me! I will not raid e's snacks and nom his pom bears, no no no. I am strong and I like tomatoes

so pleased you had a good trip perse (i call you percy in my head)

PurplePidjin · 29/05/2014 20:51

Risotto is awesome with fish. Make up a basic risotto with onion, rice and stock. Add peas and any other veg you like, cheese and a tub of crab meat, or flake some smoked mackerel in.

Sardines in tomato sauce, the tinned variety. Split down the middle, remove spine, mash them up and use in sandwiches. Or as a pizza base. Or on pasta.

Most white fish is nice with a drizzle of olive oil, a squidge of lemon or lime, and a sprig of thyme. Wrap in foil and 10 minutes in a hot oven. Serve with new potatoes or chips and green veg.

Smoked mackerel pate is lovely on oat cakes: skin and bone 2 smoked mackerel fillets, mix in to a tub of creme fraiche, a good squeeze of lemon and lashings of black pepper. Eat the next day.

Cook pasta. Stir in a tub of phillly and a pack of smoked salmon trimmings.

I like fish Hmm

Paisleychick · 29/05/2014 21:06

Kyz thanks for asking Smile
It was great, went way too quickly. Watched a couple of episodes of breaking bad, I'm on the last episode of season 1. Still not sure what I think, I'll decide if I'm going to continue after this one. I made H some batch risotto to put in the freezer. Went to the dump to get rid of gardening waste then it was 5 pm and I had to go and get the boy.

We eat fish twice a week every week. We buy fresh salmon and cod, sometimes smoked cod, but if smoked I only give H a little bit, as it's quite salty. I wrap the salmon in foil and season it with soy, mixed herbs, honey garlic and chilli lemon seasoning and put it in the oven for about 15 to 20 mins. For H i don't use the chilli and use a lot less soy. With the cod I just use butter and mixed herbs and garlic. I wrap the fish by using a square of foil and putting the fish in the middle and then bringing the sides together. We eat it with rice, or mash usually sweet potato with the salmon or couscous.

Paisleychick · 29/05/2014 21:09

Xpost Pp I made a salmon risotto for H today.

Wandathewindfairy · 29/05/2014 21:23

Yes please pikz hair photos. I am thinking 4 " would be quite a lot off yours n'est pas?

Passmethecrisps · 29/05/2014 21:23

That is all

PetiteRaleuse · 29/05/2014 22:04

kyz I bake most fish covered in foil. And before doing so add a variety of stuff. Could be onion, chopped, garlic, white wine, ginger like today, peppers, mushrooms.

Today's lunch was: olive oil spread round oven dish. Salmon slapped on. Stem ginger x3 blobs sliced. A tablespoon of ginger syrup drizzled over the top. Lime juice. Pepper sprinkle. Cover with foil. 180 for half an hour. Served with rice and salad.

If it is seasoned to your taste and covered you can't go wrong. I'll pm you a few recipes if you like.

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/05/2014 22:32

yw bloody yes! That's better.

kyz yesterday we had salmon lemon pasta. very easy. Cook pasta, meanwhile fry bite size chunks skinless salmon in a bit of oil for a couple of minutes. Remove from pan and add bite side bits of asparagas and garlic to same pan (or you could do peas). Saute for a couple of minutes and then add salmon back to pan along with the cooked pasta. Add lemon zest and juice from one lemon. Remove from heat and add parmasan cheese and fresh basil if you have it and voila. To make it even quicker I pre cooked the pasta earlier in the day as it only needs warming through at the end.

I too love fish, DH not so much but I find if it's seasoned well he does like it. I too cook it a lot wrapped in foil with various sauces like others have mentioned. its so easy and doesn't take long.

Had a lovely day with my friend and she was 30mins late as she went to shops to pick us up some yummy nibbles. Bonus. She's currently going through ivf and will be taking a pregnancy test on saturday morning. We are actually out with them on saturday and lots of others as off to Twickenham for the rugby. She said if she starts knocking back the wine I'll now it's failed to take so I'm hoping that she'll be joining me on the soft drinks. She was very supportive and delighted at my news which was lovely as I can only imagine how hard it can be to hear friends announcing pregnancies when you are desperate to conceive. Obviously I don't know yet that all is ok with this baby but I didn't want her to find out on saturday by other means. I have one other friend who I also would like to tell personally before Saturday and then I think I'm done.

GTbaby · 30/05/2014 00:18

Just went to check on H. He is asleep in just his nappy. He was put to bed in vest and PJs. He looked at my and smiled. Have managed to get him dressed and back to sleep. Is this a "phase" ?

GTbaby · 30/05/2014 05:13

A has been awake since 2.30! Some fucking idiot woke him up when they went to the looAngry

On a positive. H is still fully dressed.

ValiumQueen · 30/05/2014 06:13

We have a new budget based on DH being shit with money. We have £2 to last until Sunday Shock Grin I love a challenge. Sodding new car cost £450 to get serviced and through the MOT, and fucking tax credits are checking up on us again. Random apparently. Fucking arseholes!

But J slept again in his own bed all night until 5.30 so frankly nothing else matters GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

ValiumQueen · 30/05/2014 06:14

GT is he hot? J sleeps with a duvet now and was getting too hot. He now sleeps in a vest (age 4-5 so like a nightie) and pj bottoms, and he is very comfy.

PurplePidjin · 30/05/2014 08:37

my implant comes out in an hour. starting to wish i'd googled instead of sitting here with visions of them hacking half my arm off...

Wandathewindfairy · 30/05/2014 08:42

Is ok pp I am sure they will saw gently and not hack at all. Wink

Wandathewindfairy · 30/05/2014 08:49

vq let us know how the £2 challenge goes.

I admit to being shit with money. My challenge is not to spend money till about August, on anything that is non essential, like clothes and shoes. I really want to go up to ikea and dunelm and stock up on stuff for the house but need to save a bit to be able to do it. I need to be really strict with myself, like tie myself to the chair.

Glad it all went ok eliza, I was in a similar situation with a friend when I was pregnant with DD2 but she hadn't shared with anyone the awful time she was having so I didn't know and gambolled In With my news and she was all quiet. Is only now really that we talk about it. She hasn't got any children but she loves spending time with her friends children then going off and living. So has ended up ok.

persepolis123 · 30/05/2014 08:49

Awesome on the sleep front VQ. Not so much on the budget. £2! crap. Lucky it's only til sunday which is doable.

I got home last night and poas with my ebay cheapies. Bfn. Thought I would test again this morning because af is due today or tomorrow. Got the faintest line on two tests. Don’t trust the tests though and wish I had got a digital. I’m at work now so it will have to wait until tonight or tomorrow before I have a definitive answer.

YellowWellies · 30/05/2014 09:11

Perse I've got a spare digi I can send you from our lucky "oh we can't be preggers" twin pack!

persepolis123 · 30/05/2014 10:37

yw thanks but just realised I have to go to sainsbury’s after lunch to get something for work so should be able to get one then. Doing it at work isn’t the best idea in case it’s negative but at least then I will know.

PurplePidjin · 30/05/2014 12:31

'Twas just a little prick in the end Wink

Persy how excitiing! Fingers crossed for you Thanks I would say that if you have faint lines already then there is much to hope for when you take the digi one :o

PurplePidjin · 30/05/2014 13:31

PS update on R's nappy rash. It's not infected, there's no sign of thrush. I'm to give him as much nappy free time as possible and we have an appointment to have it checked again next week. Dr agrees that nappies won't make much difference beyond what I'm already doing, and it does look better than a month ago but it's not healing as fast as I'd like. I might try her suggestion of pull ups in a size too big so they're loose if no improvement soon though. I did pop some leftover Fucibet on it last night and this morning but she's said to ditch that as no sign of anything except an open patch of skin that's struggling to close. Sudocrem seems to have the best effect - Bepanten is useless, as is metanium, which surprises me - so will stock up on that too.

ValiumQueen · 30/05/2014 13:44

A line is a line is a line. Cheap tests are just as accurate. I have pom poms at the ready.

Waiting outside my new manager's office. She is late. I am getting pissed off now. 11 minutes and counting.

PP I can recommend Tesco value pull-ups. £1.44 for 18 and just as good as any IMO. Only leak when saturated and you cannot complain at that. Both J and DD2 have them. Same size as J is a sensitive wee soul and the other nappies were too right on his tum.

PurplePidjin · 30/05/2014 13:51

Ooh thank you - I'd have no idea where to start with sizing!! He's long and skinny and weighs 24ish lb they should put the snaps on sposies and make them btp it's so much easier Thanks

ChasingDaisy · 30/05/2014 14:16

Pidj if it helps, O wears size 5 nappies. IIRC, O and R are of a similar size.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/05/2014 14:29

LO wears 4+ pampers but 5 in another brand (dm, you don't have it there)
