I love Fargo. What is Lied to? Is it on Netflix? And book I really want to see Greys but is not on Netflix.

Thanks kyz I hope it all works ok. Is lovely to have you back on full form. Tell me, can I use a paint called egg shell or so ething on wood instead of gloss?

Wandathewindfairy · 20/05/2014 12:48

It will all come together pp

vq that is wrong and you must be exhausted with it.

PurplePidjin · 20/05/2014 12:55

Wanda yes, although you'll need to sand and prime/undercoat first. R's kitchen if I ever get a bloody unit for it will need sanding, then a coat of primer, then emulsion, then probably varnish. I was going to seal the sink dog bowl in properly and use an old tap for authenticity, then I can give him a bit of water to splash in; my dad reckons he can rig up a tank and a bit of hose to the tap and make it work properly :o

Paisleychick · 20/05/2014 13:39

H just stuffed my phone down the side of the couch while I was out of the room. It's a good thing I saw him, that wouldn't have been the first place I would have looked.

Zamboni · 20/05/2014 13:44

I is in the Big Smoke, strolling around Chancery Lane like I am a proper lawyer!! Night out tonight too, bit random but drinks and table tennis. I'm shit but super competitive, so a combination that I have to remember is not necessarily good for befriending clients! Staying over too, so a lie in for me tomorrow! Diet going to shit as a result though.

Wanda Lie to Me stars Tim Roth as a facial recognition and micro expression expert who solves various cases of lying. Fab. Apparently The Mentalist is similar but haven't watched that yet.

My other highbrow tastes include Vampire Diaries Blush and The Musketeers, both for the shameless peeving opportunities good acting. Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2014 13:48

Ooh will add that to my list. I hate The Mentalist as I can't get past my dislike of the lead. He reminds me of Michael Flatley and I find him really unlikeable. Partly because of that and because he comes across as smug and annoying. As does Michael Flatley.

ValiumQueen · 20/05/2014 14:56

Our day started at 4. I have now had to take 2.5 hours annual leave to get DD1 from school as nobody else can. Grr. I was ready for my lunch by 9am Grin

The Dr just says it is viral. Two of my colleagues are off sick and blaming me. I said to blame the boss.

Sophia you also will always be Sophia to me Grin I have to make a conscious effort to call you your new name.

Pikz · 20/05/2014 14:57

So lovely to see izzy and Kyz and others back Grin

Am laughing still at this morning. Operation big boy bed has been going ok, getting him to go to bed is a challenge but I am persevering with it slowly but once he's in it he sleeps really well.

We were awake before him so DP went and undid the gate on his room (stair gate still done up) and when he woke he wandered into our room like the cat who had the cream this morning. Big boy who got out of bed and gets to go and visit mummy and daddy! Very funny.

Work is manic and no Ttc update, am trying to be super chilled about it all.

ValiumQueen · 20/05/2014 15:31

DD1 got two silver medals at Sports Day

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2014 16:52

Woo. Well done ValiumPrincess

MsJupiter · 20/05/2014 17:49

Hurray for VP1!

Pikz · 20/05/2014 19:21

Hooray VP1

Talk to me about rapid return...

Hooray VP1

Talk to me about rapid return...

Passmethecrisps · 20/05/2014 19:34

Good work vp1! Excellent sports day skillz!

Still us of a little girl bed, I can't advise pikz I'm afraid but I will read what others say with interest.

CM and her CM buddy took all their charges to a local national park today. I was sent pictures of p skimming for bugs and it is the first time I have had a pang that I wasn't there. Silly as I want to be at work as she has such a fabby time but it had to happen I suppose.

And after our cutlery chat yesterday, p ate her whole dinner of pasta and meatballs in tomato sauce with her hands. She enjoyed every morsel but quote frequently asked for her hands to be wiped.

Your cough is viral vq? The cough that makes you vomit and wee yourself? That one? Or have I been slack and missed something?

DH is on the phone to his parents who want to come up to look after p for a day. This is wonderful and massively appreciated. It will be a daddy day so means that DH can get on with work which he very much needs to do. However, they just don't listen! They are so very sweet and go on about not coming to see us on Sunday because they won ' want to get in the way and we will be so very busy preparing for the week ahead. The reality is we have a Sunday roast every week and spend the day rolling about the house so their company would be lovely. No matter how often we tell them this they won 't accept it! I think DH might have persuaded them to come for lunch on the basis that they bought us the beef anyway!!

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/05/2014 20:10

yay for vp1

sorry pikz. having never had to do rapid return I have no advice. am chuffed to read that L is sleeping well in his big boy bed.

kyz your comment about shaging did make me giggle. Will be slowing down a hell of a lot now though. I'm so bloody tired all the time.

I'm really not good at keeping up with long running series. GoT is the only one I've managed to persist with. Oh and arrow but that is truly shit but easy brainless watching if you're into that sort of thing. I loved sex and the city back in the day. I could easily watch that over and over. I do think I'd like breaking bad but feel it's too late to start on it now.

StuntNun · 20/05/2014 20:17

Pikz IMO the secret for rapid return is to be as boring as possible. You don't want LO to think there's a benefit to staying up so make sure you aren't watching TV or eating or anything else that could be fun. At this age they're quite malleable so lying in wait on the landing can work well if you're reasonably sure when you'll be needed. Read a book while you wait. Then just keep putting them to bed with the minimum of fuss and say the same thing every time such as 'It's bedtime, night night, sleep tight any I'll see you in the morning.' Then leave the room and repeat as required. Generally the first couple of nights are the hardest then it gets easier very quickly. Bear in mind that all children go through phases of getting up in the night, for example if they're scared or there's some disruption such as moving house. So knowing how to do rapid return with them is very useful for those times too.

Kyz · 20/05/2014 20:24

Evening all :) See, you'll all get sick of me now :P

Thanks for the suggestions of what to try watching guys, I'm gonna give house of cards a go first I think and if I don't get into it/when i'm finished i'll try Greys

Lie to me is brilliant wanda sophia and yes, eggshell is a form of wood paint, it goes on skirting etc like gloss would. It's a bit like matt emulsion, you know how you get flat matt, silk etc for emulsion, well woodwork paint (i always call it gloss but Jan at BNQ tells me it is not gloss, it is woodwork paint!!) for interior wood is called gloss (supershiny) satinwood (a little shiny) and eggshell (not in the slightest bit shiny). PP explains nicely :)

pp I can't wait to see R's kitchen, it sounds like it'll be fab :)

chick E hid my keys under the rug earlier, little so and so! I found them by standing on them, which was lovely!

Hope you have a good night tonight zamboni

Aww bless him pikz :)

well done vp1 that's fab!! I think the doctors are being a bit dismissive maybe VQ? I mean you've had that cough for ages and it's been a really awful one practically the whole time from what i've read when I've been able to get on!

bless you pass, mind I bet wee P really enjoyed it? Speaking of people and sunday dinner, DP decided it'd be a good idea to invite MIL and her P for sunday dinner in a fortnight, bearing in mind I do the cooking and I only found out they're coming for the day because MIL came earlier and it was mentioned then! Bloody DP. I would make him cook but honestly, the disaster would be, well, disasterous!

yes eliza take it easy won't you :) Make sure you look after yourself!

E has been fun today :) He's being really good, I am guessing it's his settling in period!

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2014 20:54

Cooked a lovely birthday dinner for DH on the offchance he'd be home early. He was. He went to settle DD1 over an hour ago and I can hear him snoring. Oh well...

He'll just have to miss out on the champagne and bj I had planned for him.

If you snooze you lose eh?

Passmethecrisps · 20/05/2014 21:00

Thems is the rules I live by pr

BigPigLittlePig · 20/05/2014 21:43

Kyz! Your welcome back post made me Shock and then Grin - nice to see you lovely.

Well done valiumprincess, future olympian? And mrs vq, do you not think at 7w you should be pestering for an xray? For peace of mind if nothing else.

Hope dd1 is better soon, Eliza. And hope the drs appt goes well. All these new babies is v exciting.

F sits in a bumbo at the dining table, she started getting v cross in her high chair. She is good though - and sets the table for us. Train them young Wink Today she has learnt to say bye. so she walks around waving and shouting "baaaaaaiiii" Smile

PurplePidjin · 20/05/2014 21:51

Awesome stuff VP1 :o

Pass R had meatballs yesterday - I did star soup pasta with tomato sauce which I spooned in then he ate his meatball with his fork Shock tonight he had a bash at fish pie with a spoon and did really well till he got bored and made me do it :o

Kyz my dad is also making him a Swing Bin Racer. Apparently they do 6mph on a drill battery, we reckon we can get it to 25 or 30 with a wheelchair one (my dad has the right skill set for this) I've told him to go for it, but I want a hard-to-manage switch so I can turn the high speed off. Then I'm taking him up the Pod in it to drag race Wink

:o PR

My mum is officially awesome. R was mumping when I left, he carried on for another hour (happy but not asleep) then got hysterical. She had to change a filthy nappy, then 2 wet ones before I got in at 9 Shock he was happy playing downstairs with her - she changed him on the sofa because she can't manage kneeling on the floor to do it - and I put him back to bed when I got home. He eventually dropped off at 9:30, so I hope I get a lie in tomorrow! Anyway, definitely above and beyond the call of duty for Granny. I'd have changed him and dumped him back in the cot with Ewan to get on with it! Must tidy our bedroom and leave a changing mat in there for next time, although I think after all this time he's probably learned that if Granny's here he gets to get up and play Hmm it didn't take long for him to learn that if he refused to settle then she'd get him up to go for a walk when I went back after mat leave at 6 weeks Hmm

Lily311 · 20/05/2014 21:53

You made me chuckle pr, thanks.

Well done vq princess!

PurplePidjin · 20/05/2014 21:54

BP R loooooooooves saying and waving Bye Bye (Ba Ba). He waves goodbye to little old ladies in the street, dogs, characters in books, and at the end of TV programmes. Now I just need him to get the hang of Hiya to counteract the RL confusion of a small child toddling along the road then suddenly shouting Ba Ba at people Confused

Passmethecrisps · 20/05/2014 21:58

Oh yeah! P is another fan of byeeeeeee! I wondered why a car driver was making such a hash of reversing out if a space a while ago on my to realise she was waving at p who was solemnly waving bye bye

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 22:04

We had "bye bye choochoo" tonight when we got off the train. His longest sentence ever!

I just won my dream double buggy on eBay for £220 (£232 including postage) it sells for £800 new and is usually £300-350 on eBay. The lady is moving and desperate to be shot! I've heard all the "oh you won't need a double buggy" comments from pals and realised they only come from folk who live in their cars. We walk 5+ miles a day every day. We will need a double. Am v chuffed as I've had a saved search on eBay for two months for this and I had my best offer accepted within 2 hours of the item being listed. Only need footmuffs, a new bednest mattress and the ergo newborn insert and we're done!
