Yay kyz I've missed you and your epic posts
Congrats on moving in to your new pad Wine

ValiumQueen · 19/05/2014 22:45

A fine day indeed - Izzy and Kyz back Grin

I went to bed at 8.45. I am awake as my cough is bad. 7 sodding weeks now!

GTbaby · 19/05/2014 22:57

Wow wee kyz!

Dona I've heard the more people there are around results in delayed speech. The baby doesn't get a chance and listens more.

Also my neighbours are not making a point about their garden, it's totally unkept and the ball could damage nothing. No plants. I think their twins just wanted to keep it.

Paisleychick · 19/05/2014 23:20

Hey Donna hope all is good with you guys. We have duck and that's about it. I sing old mc Donald and H says duck. He tries to say thank you and tasty. He does try to copy, but he's got a little way to go. He understands and gestures so I'm not worried.

The food talk is very interesting. Ds1 was a fussy eater, but in a healthy way. I blame myself because I didn't keep giving him certain foods and when I did much later, he refused them. He would eat veg and different types of fish and other meats. It was very managable fussiness. He eats most things now at the age of 15. I'm quite laid back when it comes to eating and H has never refused anything. But I do appreciate that that could change at any moment. He has to sit in his chair while he's eating all meals and I do strap him in or he'll want to get out after 2 mins.

Zamboni I'm curious to why you think you food habits aren't normal, they sound very normal to me.

Thanks for the hi Kyz

The boy didn't go to sleep until 10. I blame the lack of sleeping bag. Hopefully they'll be dry by tomo.

Lily311 · 20/05/2014 03:59

kyz epic, you are awesome. The is in high chair and I have no intention to change it. It's a trip trap though.

izzy you were always izzy to me

I'm awake, not sure why. grrrr

StuntNun · 20/05/2014 06:32

Love the super reply Kyz! J started trying to get out of his Ikea high chair so he's in a Tripp Trapp chair now. It has a baby seat attachment on right now but we'll be able to take that off soon so he can get up and down by himself.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 20/05/2014 06:46

stunt our J manages to escape the antilop too but I'm not sure how to rectify that....

We've been up over an hour. I say we... I mean J and I. I've left Dh in bed. He's got a day off before we fly on holiday tomorro so I figured if I got up at 5.30am I can ways have a nap later on :)

I've an appt at 9.30am to get some nail extensions put on for holidays. Mine are a mess and I'd like longer ones for going away. Most of our stuff is packed but I've a LOT of food to pack for J. Snacks and fake mayo and stuff... I reckon it'll get bashed completely!

Does anyone speak Spanish??? I've printed allergy cards to show to hotel kitchen as they said they can cook sometimes for us..... But I'd like to know they were correct!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 20/05/2014 07:34

Is everyone else sleeping???

TheDetective · 20/05/2014 07:56

No. But I will be. Stat.

G'night!

Oh and highchair all the way here. Forever. Nightmare without. Tried at relatives on Saturday. He fell off the chair on to wooden floor Hmm.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 20/05/2014 08:01

Sleep well det :)

Wandathewindfairy · 20/05/2014 08:23

High chair all the way. We have the baby dan ones cheaper version of the Tripp trapp so O has a bar and a strap round him in his and he pulls right up to the table and DS1 has nothing just pulls up to the table and the seat is adjusted so he is at the right height for the table. If I had my time again the girls would have had them again until they were about 5 or 6. Most kids have a tendency to jump about at the table, mine especially, one foot on the floor, knee on the chair, sliding off chair, and I came to the conclusion it is just because they are not sitting at the right height for the table. So I will use them till they are able to sit on a chair and reach properly.

Seaweed collected, it was loads of fun, slipping and sliding around on it, and layer all around the courgettes.

Wandathewindfairy · 20/05/2014 08:37

I have some English guests coming on Thursday. I am very excited about their visit. She is my fellow foodie and style guru, she is so dam stylish I could hate her, but I don't I love her she always helps me out. Anyway, I have finalised my menu, they are arriving at 4 after a really long journey so I thought I would do bruschetta and nibbles upon arrival, which would act as an early starter really. Then chicken and asparagus baked risotto, with baguette and green salad. Then.......then...... I thought I would do a strawberry cream meringue layer cake. I can make the meringue bit on wed night you see and assemble on thurs.

Now I am just racking my brains over what to wear to seem stylishly "at home" that is not wellies and skinnies. Confused

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2014 08:48

Sounds yum soph

Zamboni · 20/05/2014 08:56

Can I come too Wanda?! Sounds fantastic. And you will look lovely and stylish whatever you wear.

Good posting Kyz! Glad you are settling in in your new home. How about Lie To Me, Person of Interest, The West Wing, House of Cards, 24?

Donna - that's what the kids have. Not how DH and I have eaten historically. We're trying to change our habits now. Good to know the DC's diet sounds ok. I think I will always worry, even when I think it's ok I worry a bit. I also don't offer alternatives unless they are ill or really really whiny.

S not been in a high chair for months but that's because I hated the damn thing and we have ikea little table and chairs which he and DD sit on. He does like to walk around a bit but that's when I know he has had enough as eating is a serious business for S. He always finishes eating before DD and then 'helps' her finish hers too. She's v good and always shares. Grin

StuntNun · 20/05/2014 09:04

Wanda my DS1 has only just gone into a regular chair age 11. The height adjustable ones with a footrest are great for fidgety little ones.

OP posts:
YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 09:19

I know if J was out of his booster seat and five point harness (bwahahaha) my soft furnishings would be toast as he'd just wander around smearing dinner everywhere. I might let him out of his high chair when he enters puberty.

Wanda I think skinnies and wellies is perfectly at home rural stylish with a nice black jumper. But then I have a penchant for wellies.

Wandathewindfairy · 20/05/2014 09:56

Yes you see yw I am defo in your Welly camp.

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/05/2014 10:00

kyz congratulations on your move. I hope you're all settling in well.

wanda enjoy your friends visit.

E is still in her tripp trapp with the attachment. She had to sit on DD1S the other day which doesn't have the attachment. She did well but I had to sit close to her. She is still so small she can hardly reach the table in a booster. I have found the tripp trapp style high chair ideal for my 2. She has the antilop at the inlaws and still has the cushion insert!

DD1 still not 100% so think I'll keep her off nursery again today. I've got the drs later so will get the ball rolling on no 3. I don't even know how far gone I am. How awful is that. Although I guess I could easily work it out if I tried! Unfortunately I think my 12wk scan will coincide with my 2wk holiday. I remember there is a certain time frame to get the nuchal measurement but hopefully I will be able to do it either before or after I go, even if I have to have a private one.

Kyz · 20/05/2014 10:31

Morning :) just put some washing out as it's finally stopped raining! E is in bed as he got up at 6:30 again (I think he's adjusting to his new home) and was asking for bed by 10. I'll let him have half an hour I think and then I have to go out and get some bits done!

Feel a bit fuzzy that you all missed me Blush

vq that is a long time to have had your cough!!

Quite relieved that most babies are still in their high chairs! E has a wooden one, it's one of the ones where you adjust the seat and footrest position. There wasn't a table at mums so he had his tray on but the first thing I sourced was an old beat up little table, the one where the sides food down it's very small but I am working on fixing it up so that at the very least me and e can sit there together at breakfast and lunch! He eats at mils pushed up to the table and with them all and is apparently very good and really enjoys it, so I'm very keen to get that kind of thing going here. Also I know he's only little now and has terrible table manners but I cannot abide poor table manners in adults/teens/whatnot who should know better and I hope that sitting at the table and having him have people to watch will really help him not annoy the crap out of me have poor table manners when he's older.

Sorry izzy can't do Spanish, younger sister can though if that's any help?

Wow wanda that sounds amazing!

Thanks for the suggestions zamboni I loved lie to me and 24 so I'll give one of the others a go :) I've heard good things about house of cards it's just when I went to put something on last night I hadn't a clue what any of the series I had wanted to watch were called!

Hope dd1 is better soon eliza and I don't think it's too awful that you don't know how far along you could be, surely it just means you've had lots of shags of late, which is never a bad thing? Grin

What's everyone else up to today? My cats aren't here with us yet so that's my plan for today :) getting them here so I don't feel so damn lonely at night when dp is at work

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2014 10:31

kyz welcome back :) I'd recommend Person
Of Interest, House of cards, and Greys. Surprise surprise.

LO rarely goes in her high chair now but does go in her booster seat to eat at big table.

In fact i am going to try and get my highchair in a fit enough state to be sold. Ditto playpen.

PetiteRaleuse · 20/05/2014 10:34

Am watching the original UK version of House of Cards atm. From the 80s. It's pretty good too. The main character also interacts with the camera which surprised me.

Passmethecrisps · 20/05/2014 10:40

Pm me your cards izzy and I will ask our Spanish teachers.

BOOOOOOOM kyz!!

Lily311 · 20/05/2014 10:40

I couldn't get into house of cards. Not sure why. I need a new series too now that grey's anatomy finished.

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 11:27

The original House of Cards was epic! DH and I are just managing to keep up with Fargo and Mamon. Would love to try all these series you mention but can't fit them in. Breaking Bad is next once Fargo and Mamon are over.

PurplePidjin · 20/05/2014 11:56

R is still in his Antilop. He shows no sign of climbing out yet I have him facing me/the room/TV and it seems to work. He's getting very good at putting his plate on the dining table when he's finished! And after all my doubts, he ate his meatball and a whole kiwi with his fork. Still no interest in using a spoon, but I think that will come with time - he just wants the food in and fast, always has done, so will suddenly click one day once his fine motor control is ready.

Awesome post, Kyz :o

VQ what do the dr's say about your cough?
