Non-alcoholic wine? I'm confused.

I'm hilariously sat on my work chair, the wring way round,as straddling it is the only way I can get comfortable. My colleagues think I'm weird.

Non alc wine that's just wrong!! I did like the alcohol free beer when I was pg though.

Ds watching endless tv today before we fly to Scotland later have to juggle him and work until 3.30 feel really guilty Hmm

AnAirOfHope82 · 30/07/2014 14:23

Becks blue rocks just saying.......

Lost my voice and have gp appointment at 5pm so im taking dh to translate for me! The dr can not understand me at the best of times now it will be even worse. Should I write him a letter?

mopsytop · 30/07/2014 14:43

Yes I agree figgy. Alco free beer OK (esp Schneiderweisse) but the wine noooooooooo

Write a letter maybe Air?

mopsytop · 30/07/2014 14:44

Mmm chocolate eclairs

pluCaChange · 30/07/2014 15:59

Write notes before the appointment and take paper FOR the appointment, so you're not left out - very important for an appointment about YOU!

Aethelfleda · 30/07/2014 16:00

Hop, if you're at work and we send you alcololic wine, you'll get hopelessly pished and might accidentally snog the shy office boy who operates the photocopier, or tell your boss exactly what you think of him/her... Would we want that on our collective concious? Thought not.

(I must admit I like Bavaria 0.0, and Becks Blue, still buy the stuff as I like a cold beer on a hot day without the booze. Also good for visitors who drive! My just-been-pg friend used to rave about the booze-free wine though.)

Here, have another eclair....

Aethelfleda · 30/07/2014 16:04

Oh and Air, rather than a big long list (gulp) write a starter note: and hand it to dr to read, then hope they do yes/no questions!!

Make sure they know your asthma can play up, and that you are needing the blue inhalers several times a day (cos if you are you might need extra inhalers, so they need to know that. Also say if it's affecting your sleep still, that's important too.

Wish me luck, I'm about to pick up the DDs from holiday club and brave TK Maxx for new trainers!

NorthernChinchilla · 30/07/2014 19:46

Well, after a hilarious time last week when a small sensor had to be replaced on the car, which with the MOT cost nearly £400, our sodding fridge died this Tuesday morning Angry
As we have an ancient, second hand freezer on top of the fridge, and both are quite small, we had always planned to get a proper fridge freezer at some point. However, given the freezer's still going strong after 12+ years I didn't think it would be for a while.
So that's another £500.

Today is the start of my summer break, not that we can afford to go anywhere, and we can hardly go mad with meals and trips out after that lot! I keep on muttering that 'that's what savings are for', but hell's teeth.

[is having a reeeeeealy large gin emoticon]

Faffin · 30/07/2014 20:39

Argh northern it's so frustrating when things like that happen all at the same time!

I hope your appointment went well air

I'm feeling very fortunate to have my local GP surgery. They leave half the appointments free each day for on the day bookings so I can pretty much always see someone on the day I call if I need to. Yesterday I managed to pop my knee out of place. Twice. Through the strenuous activity of....standing up after kneeling on the floor playing with DS Blush. It was all pretty painful and actually made me feel sick as I straightened my leg up and it popped back in again. Fortunately I was able to see the GP today and even more fortunately I'm covered under DH's private medical so I have been referred to an orthopaedic surgeon. I'm seeing him tomorrow afternoon!

mopsytop · 30/07/2014 20:39

Janey mack, sounds like you need that gin Northern!

TheOnlySeven · 30/07/2014 21:06

Eww faffin sounds horrible and rather painful!

Hope the appointment went ok air.

I think alcohol free wine is rubbish, tastes nowhere like the real stuff. Kopparberg do awesome alcohol free cider though.

Our new mei tai for the new baby arrived today and I love it, so simple I wish I'd tried one with the DDs. Even DH likes it and it'll be so much easier him baby-wearing without me having to wrap him!

mopsytop · 30/07/2014 21:10

Oh no faffin, you poor thing. Ouch. Hope it can be easily sorted.

Aethelfleda · 30/07/2014 21:46

Yeek faffin! Glad you can get to see someone soon aboit it though.

Very sorry for your fridgey loss, northern
We have a redo plan for our kitchen, mostly because all the appliances are aaaincient (15 year old dishwasher, 15 ur old oven, 10 year old and seals-going fridge freezer) and we need a redo to jig about what will go where. It's such a daunting job we have been putting it off big time! I shall have replacement white goods, oh yes sometime maybe next millenia.....

AnAirOfHope82 · 31/07/2014 01:15

I lost my big post Sad

Dr give me antibioctics and a new peek flow meter. He said its a virus but try the antiboitics anyway! And I had to ask for the PF meter. Dr didnt seem bothered and said my chest sounded clear. Im feeling a little better today but have lost my voice, coughting and wheezing a lot. I have taken lots of blue enhaler and told dr he said thats fine!

I have crap gp,its true

pluCaChange · 31/07/2014 03:02

Hope you manage to sleep, AnAir!

Pop thy kneecap back in, faffin, for pity's sake! Doesn't it swell from popping out? When I dislocated a knee, it was enormously swollen by morning! Shock

Bugger about the fridge, Northern. Do you have space to keep the carcass in a garage, for deep-freeze stuff (summer fruits from the pick-your-own, etc.?),

pluCaChange · 31/07/2014 03:08

(cont'd), tho' you'd have to take the fridge door off, for safety's sake, or bolt it!!

Congrats on the wrap, Seven! Smile

Is DH over his jet lag yet, Aethel?

We had HAIL here today: massive thunderstorm and ice chunks which stayed in unmelted piles fir hours afterwards! The power flicked several times, too, and my DF was getting antsy about lightning strikes (given one killed a tree about 2-3 metres from the house, a few years ago!) Shock

Aethelfleda · 31/07/2014 18:11

MrAethel's pretty good now, thanks.

We however are spoiling for a rumble, went tosee a friend today and DS conked out in the car...at 4pm...and is still asleep in bed, now in his night nappy...this ain't gonna end well.....

pluCaChange · 31/07/2014 20:58

Ohhh, those PM naps!

mopsytop · 31/07/2014 21:03

What happened aethel? Meltdown? Still awake?

Faffin · 31/07/2014 21:14

We all need to know what happened aethel

Knee update: it wasn't the kneecap that popped out, I didn't think it was, just knew that something felt like it went wrong at the side of my knee and then popped back in when I straightened it. The surgeon suspects torn cartilage / meniscus and demonstrated to me on a model knee what had probably happened. I'm having an MRI next week and follow up appointment the week after when he's back from holiday. If it's torn then he'll sew it up otherwise the same thing will keep happening. Fortunately it's not too swollen and the pain is getting a lot less already. I just need to remember not to crawl around on the floor with the kids as much as I usually do for the time being!

Aethelfleda · 31/07/2014 21:24

I have a small burbling person on my lap. "Jo-Jo go play me? Am go back? Ooh look, plane! Dat my house. Look house. Mummy an Daddy room. Look. Jo-jo and Atty's room where? i not see dat. Josie, Atty, I not see you.. i outdide cluddle mummy...can oo ear me Jo-seee? I cluddle mummy"......

Aethelfleda · 31/07/2014 21:26

(Mummy is not especially impressed and needs to do twenty impossible things before bedtime. None of which is compatible with "cluddles". Hey ho.)

Aethelfleda · 31/07/2014 21:27

Ps sounds like your surgeon knows what he's doing faffin. Good luck with the MRI!

mopsytop · 31/07/2014 21:54

So lucky you've private cover Faffin. I had an issue with my knee (very similar with something 'popping', then my knee swelling and extremely painful. I was pushed from GP to physio and back for nearly 2 years. GP kept saying sounds like torn meniscus, physio kept saying it wasn't. Eventually got on waiting list to see orthopaedic specialist after two years of this (because I'd changed to current fab GP surgery who actually take you seriously and don't just try to get you out of their office) which would have meant a six month wait minimum until I got an appointment and prob at least another six months after that to get MRI. Luckily I had private health insurance at work by then so went and had an MRI the next day basically. Turned out it was a growth in my knee, like a bug tumour. Benign fortunately. But trying to get it seen to on NHS was a nightmare. I know what is considered a sports injury isn't top priority but it really stopped me exercising and frequently I couldn't walk for a few days so it was hugely frustrating. I had knee surgery and no bother since. Hope yours is fixed quickly!
