hey.

god i never felt this bad about a break up bedore. but then i never had a baby with someone before! Agreed that my LO is the most important thing to me, and my friends have actually come out of the woodwork to support me!
As they are all his mates im quite supried! i think they all knew this was coming before me...

anyway! Jake is 11 weeks on monday, and he is 13lbs! he was 6lb13oz when born, and he has the most gorgeous creases in his chubby legs!

As long as i concentrate on the little things; bottles, clean clothes, etc i know i can cope.

only problem - no boys in my family and im going to be worried about teenage years....also jake's b*lls looked a bit black yesterday....boys bits are so strange.....!

i just want to say WITHOUT YOU, YOU LOVELY LADIES AND YOUR GORGEOUS BABIES I WOULD NOT BE HERE (prob be in prison for going on slapping rampage or more likely a mental hosp).

THANK YOU xxxxx

jom · 16/09/2006 20:09

hi everyone. thanks for your nice comments on my pics (put on by DH of course as i'm a complete idiot at all things technical)

we're also seeming to get into a nice little routine with amelia feeding around six times a day - most feeds tend to take around 10 - 15 mins although she does on the odd occasion have a 30 - 45 min one. she's a pretty content little thing and is generally be pretty happy to go in her cot or the pram awake and will drift off to sleep by herself as long as i'm not ignoring the tired signals shes giving me. i did cave in and give her a dummy last week as she was only cat napping during the day and generally fighting her sleep and this seemed to help her go to sleep and is a god send during the tea/bath/bed juggle with her and DS. Saying all that she's just started rejecting it over the past day or so, not that i mind at all as she seems to still take it when she really needs it.

sorry about the long post!

jom · 16/09/2006 20:16

Koshka - don't worry you're not alone with the teenage years worries - but who knows where you'll be at that stage - hopefully still on MN pulling your hair out with the rest of us!!

You sound more positive about things, well done you

koshka1984 · 16/09/2006 20:23

jom - i am at the minute, but prob not tomorrow! Going to a pub quiz tomorrow so that should be fun!

KiwiKat · 16/09/2006 21:32

You're right Kayzed and Usandbump, I was on the antenatal thread, and the MNers here were hugely helpful when I developed cholostasis. However, since Max was born in June rather than July, I thought I'd check that it was still ok for me to post here, rather than on the July board.

Would really appreciate some advice re getting this colicky little guy off to sleep. I rock him to sleep then put him down in his cot, only for him to wake 10 minutes later, roaring in pain. I've tried making shooshing, soothing noises, stroking his head, he has a dummy - I can't have another night like last night, when he didn't go to sleep until after 2. And that was only because I took him into bed with me. At this stage I'd sell him for less than a tenner.

Koshka - your man has pretty lousy timing, but it sounds like you have lots of friends here looking out for you. You can add me to that list!

finally managed to get ds to sleep!!! the last hour and a half, have had him screaming, even on my breast which i have literally stopped giving him!! could do with a nice cold glass of malibu and lemonade!!

my flat is in a mess!!! i dont even want to look away from the pc because its that bad!! i have a huge pile of ironing to do, wish i could wave a wand and make it all disappear!!

koshka- am very happy for you, you sound more cheerful today!! see how getting rid of the negative factors in your life can make a huge difference!! we all are here for you if you need to unload your frustrations and will always try and help!! xx

HumphreysCorner · 16/09/2006 22:16

Wallace-I will love you for ever Am 3 stone overweight (or 4 stone according to the official figures)

Hey, thanks for letting me stay-did start the July thread afterall

koshka-big hugs to you. You and your gorgeous boy will do just fine.

My friend's baby had dreadful colic and the Dr told her to let her baby sleep in a rocker all the time i.e. semi upright-even at night.

Must go to bed as had another fun packed day. Sat Sophie on my friend's table and somehow she slipped backwards and banged her little head-she did cry and I felt bad especially as everyone took a sharp intake of breath She is fine though

Love to all

Morning

Koshka - glad to hear you sounding positive - keep focusing on your DS. Don't forget we are all here for you.

Have any of you any ideas on how to get the lo back to sleep in the middle of the night?? Unfortunately DS seems to have regressed since his stay in hospital and now wakes at about 3am every morning and is wide awake - he is not particularly hungry, just awake (he was never even like this as a newborn so I have no idea why he is like this now!) The only way we have found to get him back to sleep is to let him in bed with us, either on my chest or in DH's arms, which we don't want to encourage but is the only way we can get some sleep - any ideas??

What a lovely day outside - just been to a farmers market to get some lovely meat and cakes (diet out the window again!)

X

sunita123 · 17/09/2006 20:39

HC - You look great! I wish I looked that great after 2 Children. (I always pictured you with blonde hair.) Am in my pre-preg clothes - some of the time, But never manage to look that good!

Evening ladies

Shattered-have tried to stay awake to watch bike racing but have given up. So thought I would pop on to wish you all goodnight.

kayzed-ironing-steady on girl

sunita-you will look just fine. I have bought bigger clothes otherwise I would still be in maternity gear.

Busy day as ironed and did veg then foolishly cut some of the grass. Then DH decided that we have to control the ever growing mound of grass cuttings and either my plum tree or blackcurrant bushes had to go to make room. My plum is well established so the blackcurrants lost and are no more Mum and dad will be v. upset. Helped DH shift some of the cuttings then MIL turned up so had to stop and keep my beady eye on her. Sophie slept like an angel for hours in the garden. DD1 never did that.

Having a rest (ish) tomorrow.

Love to all

IamBlossom · 18/09/2006 10:20

ooooh usandbump ta muchly I have changed it to public, try this..

millionth time lucky?

IamBlossom · 18/09/2006 10:34

right if that doesn't work sod it, you will just have to imagine me as looking like, oooh let me see, Angeline Jolie (in my dreams).

Breakthrough with Toby at the weekend, he went from 8 till 3am on Saturday night. Last night only fed twice too, so I think we might have cracked it hurrah. Two ten minute night feeds with him going back to sleep really quickly I can deffo cope with.

Put DS1 in his new room on Saturday night, which was a bit gruelling. Spent two hours doing rapid return before he finally went down, then DH did it last night, and did it for about 30 minutes before losing patience and using the "GET BACK IN YOUR BED THIS INSTANT AND STAY THERE!" method as i sat wincing downstairs. It worked immediately however, so I'm not saying a word, and he still loved his daddy this morning....

He looks like a dot in his big boys bed, I was quite emotional about it.

Managed to express 4 ozs of milk this morning in front of Jeremy Kyle while I bounced Toby in his chair and DS1 is at nursery. DH has been instructed to feed Toby it tonight before his bed time, as I have been told 6 weeks is the optimum time to introduce a bottle and I don't want to miss the boat. Don't want him to have formula yet, but I do want the freedom of being able to leave him with my mum and a bottle of EBM if I can. I can't beleive he is 6 weeks old already, and to be quite honest could quite happily stop breastfeeding altogether - boobs are huge, hate feeding bras, nipples are sore from a couple of lazy latches when i wasn't concentrating and then I could diet properly too. but I figure it's such a short time in your life, and he will be weaned soon enough and then I'll miss the snugglyness of it, so a few more months won't hurt......

Going for my power walk at 11, CD Walkman on with Scissor Sisters blaring I think, good music to exercise too. MIL was up at weekend doing all my ironing bless her, and the house is shipshape. And then to visit a friend who had her baby on Friday. Three girlfriends gave birth last week all to girls, Ava, Freya and Emma, nice names huh? I tell you it is baby mania at the moment....

My DH asked me yesterday if there was anything at all I missed about work - i was like, er NO!!!! I really don't miss it at all at all at all.....apart from the money fof course....maybe in a year I'll answer differently.....

Catch you later, hope you can all see piccies.

PS Wallace, Toby is now in a bigger nappy size too, it seems to have stopped him leaking through at night. he is also wearing 3-6 month clothes!!

usandbump · 18/09/2006 11:43

Never again am I going to mention when Zack has a good couple of nights he has had 2 terrible nights. Last night he went down at 7.30 and then was up at 11.30, 1.30, 2.30, 4.30 and finally gave up at 5.30 when he woke yet again So I'm going to keep it to myself in future

I've just looked after my sisters foster children for an hour and a half, aged 2 and 3 yrs, OMG how do you do it? Every time I sat down to feed zack one needed the toilet, in the end I resorted to a dvd and no more juice They are gorgeous boys though.

Had a few words with dp over the weekend about the lack of help around the house and it definitely worked He just really doesn't notice when things need doing, it drives me mad.

Hi All
Gosh, lots to catch up on! Sorry if this is a bit out of date now ? started writing this last week but kept getting distracted before I could get round to posting them?

Usandbump ? thanks so much for the nursery advice, it?s really appreciated. I hadn?t set foot in one till the other day. We went to see another on Friday and I don?t know if it was the nursery itself or whether I was more prepared the second time, but it was much better and I managed not to be tearful! The group sizes were smaller so maybe that helped. They have places and it?s near work (someone else from work sends their child there and likes it) so I will probably try visiting again like you suggested. Zack?s a real cutie by the way ? it was lovely to see your photos

Koshka ? glad the HV seemed to be more helpful than the first GP, and really hope you can make some progress now. Sending hugs xxx

Interesting that others have also experienced the weird nerve pain thing ? I thought I was a bit freakish (or possibly had some dreadful illness ) as it?s not mentioned in the pregnancy books I?ve got. Still seems to be getting better though, so that?s a relief too.

Kiwikat ? re colic question the HV said something to me about putting a small cushion under the mattress at the head end to angle it up a bit ? similar to the bouncer concept but you can keep them in bed.

Superblue ? the only suggestion I have for night time waking is to keep them awake before you go to bed. Emma usually refuses to settle at all during the evening, but then conks out with us at around 11pm ? midnight. She?s been really consistent since she was born at going to sleep when we do, and having her last feed before I put the light out (I hardly dare type this?) waking up about 4am for a feed, then going back to sleep and waking up anytime between 6.30 and 9.30am. It can be a right pain having her awake during the evening (though she did look really cute propped between us on the sofa, avidly watching the ?Maria? programme the other night ) but it?s worth it to get most of a night?s sleep. I?m hoping that as she gets older and starts sleeping through (yeah, right!) then we can start putting her to bed earlier and earlier.

HC ? great pics, what beautiful girls, your DD1?s like you, isn?t she! Love the Tesco shot, you?ve inspired me to take one of Emma doing her Sainsbury?s ?stoner? gaze!

Jom ? gorgeous kids too!

Bloss ? gosh your pics are glam ? LOVE the wedding dress And re bedclothes ironing ? just don?t do it!! It?s amazing how you don?t notice the wrinkles once the bed?s made up and you?re in it, and the milk and vomit stains really help take your mind off them Though getting your MIL to do the ironing is even better

Will have a bash at getting some photos on later.

Have a good day everyone xxx

At last Bloss and what superb piccies

Sophie must be a dot as 0-3 months bury her so still in up to 10lb clothes. She will be weighed tomorrow at next set of jabs so will see what percentile she is on now. Sure she is not starving really.

As DD1 is at nursery will put some more things on Ebay.
