Morning everyone.

Nixnoo - my knees have hurt badly since pregnancy - similar to yours it is when I sit and stand - I put it down to the extra weight I am carrying but maybe not??

Maewest - don't feel bad about dunnies - as my DH says, they are called 'pacifiers' for a reason. My DS has one but, like the other babies, son't take it if he doesn't want it and spits it out. It was a godsend whilst in hospital as he was on a drip so wasn't sucking on anything so I think it satisfied that instinct - plus the nurses say they prefer babies with dummies as they are calmer - does that make you feel better??

Am a huge lost fan aswell although we have got a backlog of 5 episodes to watch - going on holiday to Cornwall in a couple of weeks so think we will take them with us then.

Kbaby I'm so sorry for you and your DS I wish I knew a way of helping you.

Zack had his check up and jabs this morning and it was ok, not nice but not as awful as I thought. He smiled at the doc through the assessment and was sleeping when we went in for jabs, he cried for about 30 seconds after them and then was fine! I was more upset than he was Hope Emma's jabs went ok First@Forty?

FirstAtForty · 14/09/2006 15:16

Hi All
Glad Zack?s jabs went okay Usandbump . Emma?s were a bit dramatic as she really screeched and bled a lot, my jeans have a big bloodstain on them from where I was holding her . The HV said it was probably because she was already crying and so a bit hot and agitated when she went in, so that boosted the circulation to her legs making them bleed more. She calmed down as soon as I took her out for a feed though, and seems to be fine now.

Kbaby ? sounds miserable, hope you can find a solution soon. Do you think it could be bowel related (rather than stomach)? Emma usually has a couple of episodes a day where she?s obviously in discomfort just before she poos (and farts!). She goes rigid, her face goes red and she cries on and off with the contractions of her digestive system - it?s a different sort of cry from her ?hungry? cry. It?s usually quite short-lived though, about 5 or 10 minutes. Filling her nappy seems to provide the relief to make her stop. I don't know much (well not anything really) about this but could constipation be a factor with trapped wind? Or excess wind from something in the diet? Hope it gets better very soon anyway xx

Nixnoo ? During pregnancy I had pains mainly in my hips and knees, it was painful to lie on my side without a pillow between my knees, and my hips hurt when I did just about anything. I think that?s definitely the ?loose ligament? thing. Those seem to have got a lot better now, though I do get more back pain since pregnancy, I think it?s all the bending over changing nappies etc. I?ve had a lot of weird nerve pains in my hands and feet during and since pg as well, feels like the nerves are kind of ?tearing? when the top of my foot is stretched or I flex my hand in a certain direction. It seems to be better this week though, so is hopefully on its way out.

I?m a Lost fan too ? though we have missed a couple of the recent episodes due to falling asleep! It doesn?t really seem to matter if you miss episodes though, it never makes sense anyway?

superblue · 14/09/2006 16:13

1st@40 - I have had those weird nerve pains in my fingers and toes aswell - although it is getting better over time.

Am dreading DS jab's although compared to last week, it will be nothing. He was due for them this Monday but we were advised to delay them for a couple of weeks to allow his immune system to get better (apparently the anasthetic can affect the immune system) so he has them a week on Monday. The HV didn't look vey impressed by this when I told her yesterday but since she told me DS had reflux, I am not going to pay much attention to what she thinks in future!

Kayzed - I really sympathise about your feeding problems - I know how hard it is when feedtimes are difficult - i hope you find a solution soon

Am depressed as just had to buy size 18 jeans - I have never been a size 18 before - if only I could stop eating rubbish!!

evening gals.

Nixnoo I have weird aches and pains in my body whe i wake in the night to feed. It's mainly around my chest and ribs and I was putting it down to the weiht of my enormous lactating breasticles. Anyone else having cold sweats at night still? I am pouring with it when i wake to feed Toby, very unpleasant. i would change my bed if I could be arsed to iron the 4 duvet covers sitting in the ironing basket. Don't mind ironing anything except bloody bed linen....

had a great day today, took the boys to a toddler play group this morning, then on an orgainsed "Babes in the wood" woods walk this afternoon, where they collected insects and read a woodland story and did some painting it was great! Seriously going to have to tackle potty training soon to get it cracked which will mean a week at home i think and am dreading that - My best days are when we are out all day, as if I am home all day I end up on the sofa feeding Toby with DS1 in front of CBeebies so I can keep an eye on him. Although yesterday managed to spend the afternoon at home, doing playdoh etc, but had to hold Toby the whole time. maybe I'll do it when Toby is a bit older and this feeding frenzy has calmed down a bit....

Koshka how are you feeling today?

haven't heard from loads of people in a while, including Twirl etc, hope they don't get daunted by not keeping up with the posts, be great to hear from everyone we shared pregnancy with....

Toby is still at least two hourly during the day and three hourly at night. Spoke to a woman this morning who said her son was like that till 10 weeks then he slept through....fingers crossed.

Right time for a decaf coffee and a lo fat yoghurt, I know how to live huh?

WE WENT TO THE GPS THIS MORNING WHO REFERED US TO THE HOSP. THEY SAID HIS SYMTOMS MAY BE REFLUX AND GIVEN US MEDICATION BUT TO BE HONEST IM STARTING TO THINK IT COULD BE ANYTHING. HE HAS CRIED ALL DAY TODAY WHENEVER HES NOT ON THE MOVE SO HES BEEN OK IN THE PRAM AND CAR SEAT BUT IF WE STOP EITHER HE CRIES. I HOPE TONIGHT IS BETTER THERE IS NO WAY WE CAN CONTINUE LETTING HIM SLEEP AT NIGHT ON OUR CHESTS BUT WITH NO OTHER OPTIONS I DONT KNOW WHAT WE CAN DO, SHAME WE DONT HAVE THE MONEY BECAUSE ID HAPPILY EMPLOY A NIGHT NANNY.
IM GOING TO GIVE MYSELF 2 MORE WEEKS BF AND IF HES STILL NOT SETTLED BY THEN CALL IT A DAY AND TRY FORMULA FOR ALL I KNOW HE MAY BE LACTOSE INTOLERANT OR SOMETHING, THEN AGAIN IT MAY MAKE NO DIFFERENCE.
KAYZED- I KEEP FORGETTING HOW MUCH FOOD ACTUALLY HAS DIARY IN SO TBH EVEN THOUGH IM NOT HAVING CEREAL OR TEA I FORGOT ABOUT MASHED POTATOES ETC.

Does anyone mind if I join this thread? Max was due 13th July, but was born by emergency caesar at the end of June. I still think of him as a July baby.

usandbump · 14/09/2006 22:01

Hi Kiwikat wanted to hop on quick to welcome you- the more the merrier

Will catch up with everyone tomorrow x

usandbump · 15/09/2006 06:43

Morning

Well that is the second night that Zack has only woken the once! Fingers crossed it lasts. He woke between 1 and 2 then between 5 and 6 after going down 7.30-8.30. I used to get up for work at 5 so an early morning wake up call is fine by me

Kbaby so glad your GP is taking it seriously I really hope they get to the bottom of it, crossing my fingers for you. Do you have to wait long to see someone at the hospital?

I still get a pain on the inside at the top of my left leg and is much worse after a long walk and terrible back ache. My back wasn't great before pregnancy so it had no hope really! I still get very restless legs especially when feeding Zack in the night, it drives me mad

It would be great if old faces popped in, I'd love to hear from them

Well another rainy day here but have a work friend coming around

usandbump · 15/09/2006 09:39

Hi First@Forty- nurseries really vary so see as many as you can (if you're lucky enough to have quite a few in your area). I have worked in private nurseries for years and generally find that the smaller the better. Phone around and see how many under 3's each nursery is registered for, the smaller ones are much more about happy children than they are profit. The manager of these small nurseries is usually much more hands on because there is much less admin and sales invovled. Also if the manager is also the owner then this is even better.
The baby rooms and pre-school rooms tend to be very good but with quality lacking in the middle rooms so make sure you look closely at the toddler rooms too.
You can also turn up uninvited after a visit and ask if you can spend some time with Emma in the baby room chatting to the staff before you make your final decision. If they say no this would concern me if they welcome you this is a great sign. Just make sure your visit doesn't coincide with a mealtime. If I can help anymore then let me know x

prettymum · 15/09/2006 09:39

hi everyone

welcome kiwikat.

kbaby i hope you get to the bottom if your ds' crying.

nixnoo · 15/09/2006 09:55

hi

Welcome Kiwikat!

kbaby, was last night any better? Hope things calm down soon...

We had a rough night last night - he slept from 9 til 1 but then was up every hour after that for feeding!!!!!

Very of those whole LO's are only waking once! Lucky you, usandbump

I also have a weird nerve thing on the lower side of one of my legs - so annoying, hope it goes away.

Superblue,I have avoided buying new jeans for that very reason, dont want to see what size I am now, still wearing my maternity jeans

Koshka, how u feeling today?

x

HumphreysCorner · 15/09/2006 10:13

Morning ladies

Welcome to KiwiKat and congrats to you.

kbaby-sorry to hear things are rough-hope it all improves soon. Very distressing for you all.

kayzed-good to hear Roisin is settling well. Sophie is brill at falling asleep now, just like DD1 did.

Well, mum and dad went to France on Wednesday for a week so it was my first solo trip to Tescos. It took me until 12-30pm to get out the house so ended up going out for lunch before the shopping could be done. I did it though . Put Sophie in the trolley seat so immediately DD1 wanted to sit next to her and be strapped in so it all went like a dream. Hoping for a repeat run next week!

Yesterday was a tad stressful as my manager rang from work with my 'make you feel valued' call. All she kept saying was 'when are you coming back' and 'I need a month's notice you know', said it about 6 times in all. I told her that I didn't know when I was coming back as I hadn't realised how difficult it was going to be juggling 2 children. So she said 'so it is not going to be this side of Christmas then?'. Noooooooooooooo ! The thing is I want to take the full year off then if we can manage I am not going back at all. How on earth can I tell her that??????? I was sweating and shaking when I put the phone down. I wasn't expecting her to ring so soon after the birth so was not prepared. Crikey, what a dilemma.

Have being trying to upload pictures onto PictureTrail which was getting on my nerves as some pictures were too big. The next problem will be the link to it. Sometime this weekend you will get to see some photos

usandbump-I have permanent backache and terrible restless legs. Don't know why though. Have to get out of bed and walk round.

Decided to change bed changing day to a Friday as busy now on a Saturday getting DD1 to ballet class so worn out already. DD1 is v. tired after a busy few days so can see some tantrums coming up.

Have a good day and love to all.

xxx

kbaby · 15/09/2006 10:27

hc- Bed changing! i think ours has been done once since ds was born i can only do small tasks each day, so one day is polishing, another sweeping the floor etc.

The hosp saw us straight away yesterday so weve got medication to give 3 times a day. Last night was better he went down after a feed at 8 slept on own in basket until 1 then went back down until 5 and back down until 8 yeahhhh!!! i never realised i would be this happy to have been woken twice at night. hope tonights the same.
right ds is asleep in bouncy chair so i have 10 mins before he realises hes not held to put washing on the line.
byeeee

HumphreysCorner · 15/09/2006 10:32

Oh, and another dilemma. Went to take my pill this morning and lo and behold Thursday's is still in the pack. How on earth can I remember to take my pill every day?

kbaby-only do bits each day too. Am v. sweaty person so it is a must that sheets are changed weekly. DD1's every 3 weeks ish.

xxx

maewest · 15/09/2006 10:50

HC - agree that bed has to be changed weekly, what with all the sweat and milky patches . Other housework is being pretty neglected, except where it can be used for babycalming - e.g. this morning I put Dom in his bouncy chair between the washing machine and the dishwasher, both going full blast, a couple of bounces and he was fast asleep.

Kbaby - hope you get things resolved, thinking of you xx

usandbump · 15/09/2006 11:57

nixnoo- hope your nights begin to improve, we have been here before with Zack so I'm not expecting it to happen every night. (that way I can't be disappointed!)

HC- congrats on your shopping trip I find it hard enough with one child! It's horrible having to think about work isn't it? Your manager shouldn't be phoning you either. I've got to go and see my boss next week because she is expecting me back in 6 weeks and I'm definitely not going back until at least January. Can't wait to see your pics x

Thats brilliant Kbaby I'll cross my fingers for you tonight

The sun has finally come out here

superblue · 15/09/2006 13:10

Welcome Kiwikat

Kbaby - glad you have got some medication - did they diagnose the problem?

HC- your manager shouldn't be contacting you and hassling you about when you are going back - it is technically illegal! I would be upfront about what you want to do with them as they cannot sack you for having a year off and it would stop you being so nervous when you speak to her. Unfortunately for me, my company merged with another 3 companies just as I was starting my matty leave so I have no idea what job and where it will be when I go back - not sure how they are going to interview me for suitable jobs either as they cannot force me to go in whilst on maternity leave !! Besides, the last thing I want to do is a bloody job interview!!

Just been to the doctors for DS's 8-week review -it happened to coincide with when he was due a feed so DS screamed constantly for the full 45 minutes we were there - v embarrassed - all the doctor wanted to talk about was his operation as he said they only see babies with that condition every 10-15 years!

Wallace · 15/09/2006 15:32

Another very quick post - I think my computer has completely died, so at my mum's again.

kbaby - glad things are improving for you

bloss - Leo wakes every 2 or 3 hours in the night too- maybe cos they are both big babies?

Wallace · 15/09/2006 15:33

and welcome kiwikat

superblue - you've just reminded me to make my 8 week appt, thanks!

koshka1984 · 15/09/2006 15:41
