The Maybies are on the move to Postnatal! This is for graduated Maybies (and other baybies due in May but with other ideas; the almost-Maybies!) to discuss adventures in sleepless nights, nappies and lovely newborn snuggles. However you feed, however you nappy, however you give birth and however you like your tea - if your baby was born in May (or was supposed to be!), this is the post-natal club for you!

Welcome surprise!

Isn't it amazing how one tiny little baby can disrupt everything?! I feel like I live on another planet to the rest of the humans since he's been born. (one week old today!). I'm having some awful feeding issues. He's breastfed but my nipples are tortured. The pain is incredible. Think he has tongue tie but waiting for referral to come through. I've had midwives and peer support workers here watching me feed and have got some good latch advice and they say I'm doing everything right, and he put weight on at his 5 day check, but still in pain. Haven't fed from my left side since yesterday as it's so damaged, I'm trying to give it a chance to heal. I'm not enjoying feeding him at all, but he will not take expressed milk and he chokes when you try and give him a dummy. He's just a boob monster.

If I hadn't breastfed ds1 for almost 3 years, I would have given up by now. I thought bfing would be second nature after doing it successfully for so long, but nope. I'm just holding out hoping that it will get good soon, like it was with ds1.

Is anyone back to any semblance of normal life? All I do is feed. I need to know there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Just told OH that Callie isn't a toy to play pass the parcel with, and that as long as when we visit one set of parents, we visit the other (they live 20 minutes away from each other so it's easy), we shouldn't get into counting hours because it'll cause major issues down the line. I think we've got it now, and he seems pretty happy. We're spending one night at his and one night at mine, which at first he said was unfair but I explained the reasons - he's out all day Thursday and I am not sitting in his house all day waiting for him to get back, feeling awkward and not able to put Callie down anywhere - and he seems happier.

More Christening issues but I'm on the brink of saying fuck the Christening, I'm organising a naming ceremony-joint-birthday party for me (Wink), we'll have Sparents rather than godparents, I'm going to drink wine while everyone else holds Callie and coos over her, and his family can go to church before, during and afterwards if that's what they want Grin.

Moomin is growing some balls at last Grin

Well done moomin she is your baby you get the final say

dobe sorry feeding is bad for you at the moment hope they sort it out for you

sam change her after a feed when she asleep sounds like the best plan

baby chip only cries when she has a dirty nappy she hates being dirty or wet,
feeding is going well i will need to try new positions soon if i ever want to be able to leave the flat
at the moment i hold her head with one hand, boob with the other and she lies on a pillow and once latched boob hand is stuck under boob and me leaning over wich is not good for back

No one told me such a little person could create so much more washing seam to be doing two loads a day Confused

Hope every one all ok

dobedobedo · 19/05/2014 18:25

chip I hear ya there. I can only feed Jesse with the rugby ball hold and him lying on a pillow, which isn't ideal for public feeding. There's a thing I have to go to at DS1's school this week and I'm hoping to be able to feed in a sling by then. Don't think I have a chance of that personally!

ohdearitshappeningtome · 19/05/2014 19:34

::sticks head round door::

Please can I come in?

I've got a BABY!

Baby B arrived 9lb7oz early hours Saturday! She's a delight!!

Very sore. Third degree tear so bits of me I didn't know existed are stitched and tight and swollen. Still suffering with back and pelvis issues and abs are shot! Day 4 so rock like boobs and a massively sleepless night last night. Totally in love with baby B though!

MasterFlea · 20/05/2014 10:38

I hate stitches too.

My feet swelled up to elephant proportions yesterday. And i've a UTI. im guzzling cranberry juice in the hopes of making both disappear.

Nappy didn't leak last night! But he puked a bit so everything changed again. He's the most placid little baby ever. Rarely cries, only if he's left waiting for a feed or if his belly button needs cleaning. Cord fell off yest and it is a bit sore for him.

moomin have your headaches eased off at all?

MoominAndMiniMoom · 20/05/2014 11:10

Congrats Clearly!!! Hope the recovery goes well. Frozen maternity pads for the stitches!! Best advice I got off MN about the recovery.

MasterFlea Nope :( being referred to the neurology specialist now - I've been seeing a neurology doctor so far but she wants me to be seen by a specialist because they haven't gone away after pregnancy.

Moomin sorry to hear you still having headachs glad there looking in to it though

masterflea glad it did not leak

how is everyone who had c-section getting on?
I did no reasurch on c-section and dont know what i should or should not be doing
can now get in an out of bed (day 6) managed a sneeze today wich could not do earlyer in the week coughing still hard getting easyer to laugh
only pottered around tesco not sure how far i should /should not walk
thanks for help ladies

Mummycherry2 · 20/05/2014 14:46

Congratulations clearly !!! I had same sort of tear. Like moomin said witch hazel on Mat pads in freezer then put them in for 20 mins or so- not too long or they will dissolve the stitches too early. Also salt baths... Will kill initially but lower yourself in gradually ;) again only stay in for 10-15 mins and lots of pain killers! Get some voltarol if you can!

Master flea, I'm a veteran of the UTI, make sure you have probiotic yoghurt once a day and not too many baths.

Good for you Moom, about time you told them where to stick all their christening antics. Glad you got all your uni stuff done too, sorry to hear you're still getting the headaches though.

Having a tough time with Alfie, he wants feeding every hour and a half and I'm absolutely shattered. On the positive side I went out on my own this morning to take him for his hearing test. I managed the car seat and pushchair on my own and we both survived it! I was feeling very proud of myself I must say :)

How's everyone doing?

Chip86 · 20/05/2014 15:35

Well done cherry you doing really well, we have lots of outings coming up and im dreading it need to go register her birth and at GP but DH will be with me just walking there im sure be fine though

wm3010 · 20/05/2014 19:22

Hi ladies, nice to see so many new arrivals. All ok here apart from Marnie doesn't like to sleep for about 4 hours from midnight. Frustrating when she is pretty good the rest of the time. I know she's only 11 days old and to be expected but my mum phones every day to see how sleep is going and makes me stress. She is only worried about us but I wish she would take the attitude the health visitor had today, i.e. Don't worry she is only little and it will get better. Bit teary again today, think just tiredness.

SarahJinx · 20/05/2014 20:06

Well we're two weeks in tomorrow, and up and down like yoyos. Sleep at night is ok, feeding in the day is either a marathon - from 6.30am constantly until 4pm...with the odd half an hour break in between - or quick 20 minute sprints with three hourly sleep cycles. Like you wm its early days, but, man alive its hard, particularly with a demanding three year old.

having said that, she did five and three hour stretches through the night so i really cant complain. Days are just soooo tough. I'm attempting to meet a friend tomorrow for coff and cake, hope its a bf friendly place! It'll be my first solo trip too cherry how daunting!!

congratulations clearly hope that tear heals nicely, so bloody painful.

well done moomin on finishing your year, an amazing achievement really, and on putting that foot down so firmly !

ohdearitshappeningtome · 20/05/2014 20:23

Anyone heard from mrs foo?

wm3010 · 20/05/2014 20:31

Hats off to those of you with more than one child, no idea how you do it!

Mummycherry2 · 20/05/2014 22:38

Thank you chip :) we just went to get hearing test done and pop into the local shop but I was terrified last night about going out on my own!

Ooh you're brave Sarah...let us know how you get on! Coffee and cake is on the agenda for us tomorrow too but I wasn't brave enough for town so my friend is coming to me instead. She is due with her first baby in July and I'm conscious about not scaring her too much but at the same time being honest. I just wanted people to get straight to the point with me before but I understand that others prefer not to know the gory details!

I was thinking exactly the same thing earlier wm. You mummies with more than one baby are amazing!!

Jellymum1 · 20/05/2014 22:59

hmm still no news from foo? I hope everything is ok.

MasterFlea · 21/05/2014 07:43

I've only the one baby today! DH has taken the two older dcs off to their grandparents for the day. I have dvds, chocolate and naps for the day planned. Bliss!

Thanks for the tips on uti MummyCherry. Must get some yogurts.

Wm I used to get stressed about the sleep questions too. My well meaning DM was obsessed. I started lying; "Oh yes, she's a great sleeper" for the DD who fed every 45 minutes during the night and day for what felt like a year. Got DM (and others) off my back.

Vikks · 21/05/2014 08:26

Hello! Can I check in please?

Olivia Rose came firing out into the world on Saturday night after a hospital induction. She perfect! x

dobedobedo · 21/05/2014 08:29

Foo posted on Twitter that there may be radio silence so they could inform their families about the baby's arrival so I'm sure that's why she's quiet. I can't wait to hear her news though!

I've been a bit of a hermit since having Jesse. Only ventured out to tesco once and even then, I almost fainted. But I have various school things, voting and a 1 year old birthday party to go to every day until Sunday. How will I cope?! Also god knows how I'll bf in public at this stage if Jesse needs a feed. Stress! Confused
