The Maybies are on the move to Postnatal! This is for graduated Maybies (and other baybies due in May but with other ideas; the almost-Maybies!) to discuss adventures in sleepless nights, nappies and lovely newborn snuggles. However you feed, however you nappy, however you give birth and however you like your tea - if your baby was born in May (or was supposed to be!), this is the post-natal club for you!

Callie is 9lb exactly yaaaaay Grin I'm sooo happy :)

Hope MrsFoo is ok but that's reassuring to know that she warned about radio silence.

Does anyone else get asked "Is she/he well behaved for you?". I know they mean does she cry, does she sleep well etc but I always feel like saying no, she got arrested for vandalism the other day and is already spending most of her time on the naughty step at six weeks old Hmm

PotatoPolly · 21/05/2014 21:52

We just learnt the importance of making sure ds1's winkie is pointing down in the nappy... The hard way Blush

Hi I have been following this thread for a while. Due date was 20/5. Had a sweep today. Don't feel like anything will happen. On Friday I will be induced. Fingers crossed it will start before that.

This is my 3 child have 2 from before boy 7 and girl 8.

Can't wait to have her out. So hopefully will be joining you guys soon . X

loopylou52 · 21/05/2014 23:20

Hi ladies, time for me to join you on the other side! I don't think I ever told my birth story on the main thread so here it is in brief. ..

Waters broke shortly after midnight last Wednesday night. Went in to be checked and they tried to do a sweep but my cervix was too far back. Spent most of Thursday having occasional mild contractions but labour never got going so went in to be induced on Friday morning. Straight onto the drip so contracting strongly and frequently. Coped pretty well using TENS and sitting on ball etc for first four hours. Then examined and found to be less than a centimetre dilated! All went a bit downhill from there, with concerns over baby's heartrate and my blood pressure. Had epidural but it never fully took. I eventually made it to 4cm but baby was distressed and it was clear I wouldn't deliver any time soon so we had to proceed to emcs. Feel upset that my body let us down but the op went well and was less scary than I imagined. Can't fault the staff at all - they were fantastic.

He didn't feed well the first day and was very sicky and a bit jaundiced. In the end we had to move to two-hourly feeds of formula while trying to express colostrum in between. If we hadn't moved to formula they were threatening he'd have to go to scbu to have a tube. He's doing loads better now though and is managing to feed ok. Got weighed by mw today and she was happy he'd only lost 5% of his weight. I'm so proud of him!

Phew, sorry for long post. Feels good to blurt it all out!

Jellymum1 · 22/05/2014 00:20

hugs loopy. emcs is always hard. no one ever really warns you to have a plan b or a section birth plan do they. I had an emcs with dd1. I had got to 9 cm after a really really slow progress and we ended up in crash section after her heart stopped :( she is 4 and a half now and it still really upsets me. be kind to yourself try not to blame yourself or your body. many many women who ho on the drip end up having a section because they dont progress quick enough yet the contractions are so strong and painful mum and baby get very tired very quickly. I recommend a birth reflections meeting with your consultant or midwife as soon as you are up to it. they go through your notes and explain in detail what went on. it can be very healing to so this but unfortunately they dont promote it but absolutely everyone is entitled to do it. take it easy.

Jellymum1 · 22/05/2014 00:21

*to do this

ohdearitshappeningtome · 22/05/2014 08:52

Hi and welcome and good luck swelfo Thanks

MoominAndMiniMoom · 22/05/2014 09:14

OH now sprung on me that his parents aren't happy because they're working tomorrow so they won't get to see Callie with the current plans, so apparently I have to go and spend this evening sat in the living room on my own with his mum so she can see Callie.

I'll let him break the news to my family that our plans tonight aren't happening... that should make him reconsider Grin

Hello again everyone! Ds is 2 weeks old now, it's been a blur of learning about eachother and too many bloody visitors!

Things are mostly going ok, but these last few days I've been vv anxious about breastfeeding. I've been struggling with night feeds, but have now begun pumping so dh can do one feed a night so that I can get a 5-6 hour stretch of sleep, which really helps!

I've also been struggling with feeding in public, so I posted a thread about it and got lots of great advice, have a look here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/breast_and_bottle_feeding/2084293-how-do-you-feed-in-public

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 22/05/2014 09:34

Curls I use a scarf, it goes behind my back (over my shoulder) and cradles him so I can see over the top. I also have big boobs and a fussy baby!!

loopylou52 · 22/05/2014 11:05

Thanks jelly, I'll definitely consider the birth reflections discussion.

Ooh that thread on public breastfeeding sounds useful - I managed it at the children's centre yesterday (where we have mw appointments) but the lovely lady let me go and use an emtpy room for it.

sambababy · 22/05/2014 11:40

loopy sounds like a tough labour & birth. As jelly said, make sure you talk it over with someone so that you can understand that it certainly wasn't your body's fault. Its like a lottery what kind of birth people have, it's so varied and who knows why!

Hope everyone's recoveries are going well.

I'm currently dropping toast crumbs on Sofia but hey, we both need to eat Grin

My parents are flying out tomorrow for 2 wks I am beyond excited!!!

SarahJinx · 22/05/2014 21:52

loopy just to second what Jelly says about going over your labour with mw or consultant. I did it for my first labour, just before this one and found it fascinating, therapeutic and very very healing. It really helped me to 'know' why it went like it did.

When you're ready, defo consider it.

I hope you're ok x

Mummycherry2 · 23/05/2014 15:14

Good luck sweflo and congratulations loopy!

I achieved a milestone today...first day completely home alone and we survived! Not only that but I managed to do two loads of washing, cleaned the bathroom and had a shower! Tired out now so time for a nap with baby cherry!

How's everyone else doing? What are your milestones?

ohdearitshappeningtome · 23/05/2014 15:27

My milestone for today was having a bath and climbed straight back into bed!!

I do think mini me Is starting
To find his voice a bit he seems to not cry but make a noise

ohdearitshappeningtome · 23/05/2014 15:28

Posted too soon.....

Well done for today cherry xThanks

CbeebiesIsAboutToPop · 23/05/2014 16:12

my milestone is getting myself showered and dressed and getting all 3 children dressed! I also have a relatively tidy living room and I started on the kitchen earlier before baby wanted feeding.

my next goal is to make dinner and not burst into tears when DH walks through the door a la last Friday Blush (I ordered take out and burst into tears when he walked through the door, he has been so worried about me he's been working from home and only going out for meetings. Today is the first day he has gone back and done a full day since Blush)

Well done MummyCherry and ohdear

Mummycherry2 · 23/05/2014 17:00

Well done ohdear and you too cbeebies!

No wonder your teary with 3 children cbeebies especially with ME as well, I think that certainly merits a few takeaways without feeling guilty (I'd say it merits a few glasses of wine too..purely medicinal of course!)

MoominAndMiniMoom · 23/05/2014 18:01

Well done everyone with your milestones :)

I've been having period cramps now for days, as well as raging PMT, but no sign of my period, and I thought I had a little longer until the PMT and pains would come back. Add that to the headache and I'm going crazy! Plus we've had a bill through for council tax, which we aren't meant to pay, so we have to call the council and remind them that we have told them we're students. The flat is a complete state but Celyn seems happy and healthy so that's my milestone for today Grin

MasterFlea · 23/05/2014 18:42

Well done Ceebeeies! I'm dreading my DH going back to work ft. He left me with the 3 on Monday for a few hours and my goal was to have us all alive when he got back. That'll be the aim for next Tuesday when he goes in for a meeting.

My house is a mess too. I got the sheets changed on all the beds so that was my milestone.

I haven't ventured out to town with just me and the dcs yet. I'm a big scaredy cat.

I realised today that the piles have gone! And my stitches don't hurt either. But PGP, sciatica and swollen hands/feet/face are all still here.

How is recovery going for everyone else? I'm 12 days postpartum.

sambababy · 23/05/2014 21:00

My milestone is watching the latest series of Mad Men while breastfeeding Grin. Actually I don't feel like I've achieved anything very much besides having a shower. I'm lucky we've had help with cleaning & cooking, I just don't know how you ladies with more DC do it!!

Recovery wise I'm feeling pretty good but the piles situation hasn't improved. I am also exceptionally hairy as Sofia decided to arrive the day before my waxing appointment Blush

MasterFlea · 24/05/2014 08:06

Samba did your parents come all the way from UK?
Mine aren't bothered at all. I invited them for the namegiving in the summer and DM declined without hesitation. 3rd one they will miss. They will never visit me here.
Anyway, I am rather envious and hope you have a great time with yours.

My milestone aim for today is to have a shower and perhaps do some exercises. Must check to see if my adominals did seperate first.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 24/05/2014 12:36

I've just disocvered the best cure for anything. Walking in to the living room with a massive headache and stomach pains, Callie looked up at me and smiled when I waved at her and said hello, and again when I picked her up :) instantly feeling better Grin

Hope everyone else is doing well today :)

How lovely Moomin!! That sounds amazing! M
Having another decent day here, managed to Hoover one room and make lunch. Tomorrow is a big day... Family BBQ which is half an hour away. I'm nervous but determined as it's my grandmas birthday-91 and she hasn't met Alfie yet! She lives in a home so I need to take him while she's at my aunties house as I'm a bit worried about taking him up the home while he is so little.
Had some friends round this afternoon- they were weirdly curious about my breastfeeding! I have to admit I did find it a little strange. Anyone else experience unusual interest in breastfeeding before?!
