The Maybies are on the move to Postnatal! This is for graduated Maybies (and other baybies due in May but with other ideas; the almost-Maybies!) to discuss adventures in sleepless nights, nappies and lovely newborn snuggles. However you feed, however you nappy, however you give birth and however you like your tea - if your baby was born in May (or was supposed to be!), this is the post-natal club for you!

Thanks all for the support. Things improving on mastitis front. Antibiotics seem to be working. I'm less delirious and def a bit perkier. I think all this stuff about BF making you lose weight is utter pants! I eat so much crap cos I'm hungry after feeds. Piggy me.

Also baby B seems to be getting more used to latching post TTD.

I'm hoping we can wean off formula soon

Randdom the way I read to do it was reduce by one ounce (30ml) per day.... B is on 300ml give or take at the mo. So I'm throughouly expecting it to take 10 days once we start...

Hugs to all.

My husband is going back to work tomorrow and I am terrified :( how have other people found it?

moobaloo · 23/06/2014 13:51

How was yesterday randdom?

My dp is self employed and I wish he'd go back to work - we need the money! However I think he got too used to hanging around here as he seems to always be here! He went to 'work' the other day and was only gone an hour and a half. Annoying. Haha. Of course he's never close by if I'm feeding and need a glass of water or something to eat, what's the point in having him here!?

randdom · 23/06/2014 21:47

First day back was pretty rubbish. Just felt completely alone and overwhelmed. Still feeling miserable about feeding and my mood in general is pretty rubbish.

Hope others have had better days :(

moobaloo · 23/06/2014 22:16

:( what are your problems bfing? Are you still seeing your midwife a lot? What does she say? It's so hard but you can do it, you're doing a fab job :) do you have any mummy friends in RL who can give you some support? Or a local bfing cafe? I've not been to mine yet but have been told it's really good as everyone's in the same boat and very helpful :) xxxx

moas · 24/06/2014 14:44

You're both doing a great job trying to get the bf sorted! It can be really hard, I had a nightmare with my first. This one has been easier, my main concern is the fact that he has SO many dirty nappies... Honestly 8-10 per day sometimes! Had 6week GP appointment today and sent off a sample just to be sure.
randdom, I'm worried about you! You need someone to lean on by the sound of things, seems you're not ready to be on your own. Do you have friends and family nearby who could give you a hand? Ask for help, be honest and tell people if you find it hard to cope! It's super important! My dear friend slipped into post-natal depression, it can happen to absolutely anyone! X Thinking of you!

Hello. I know I'm a bit late but hope i can join in again. I was on the pre natal threads - nc'd (chattychattyboomba) was due 27th May...DD2 (Penelope) was born (induction) 4th June- 9lb 8oz...
She's now 20 days old and absolutely lovely...BUT....Shock We are really struggling with the feeding. Anyone else's baby very unsettled after feeds? She is EBF and trying my best to stick to it. I'm not finding it painful anymore, but she's just sooooo... I don't know the word... And possibly too tired to think of it. All advice welcome!!!

Nunyabiz · 24/06/2014 19:50

And I'm sorry I haven't read the whole thread as my eyes are burning and my head is banging and I have a screaming child attached to me and a naked toddler who won't eat her dinner.... But... I hope it's ok for me to post here.

randdom · 25/06/2014 03:24

Thanks everyone. I have loads if support from friends and people have been popping in to help with washing etc and to help with the baby. I guess I am just finding the transition hard. I will get through it I guess I just need time x

moas · 25/06/2014 10:25

nunyabiz Is she gaining weight ok? We had this during the first weeks www.breastfeeding.asn.au/bfinfo/lactose-overload-babies. Colief has helped. It could also be reflux? Sometimes they can have reflux even though it's not coming up as vomit.

Nunyabiz · 25/06/2014 12:57

Thanks so much moas. That sounds exactly like what the problem is! She has been putting on weight. I think she's at 4.6kg now, 3 weeks old today. We have had a few yellow butter chicken style explosions but also the green frothy ones (sorry tmi). I was majorly engorged for 2 weeks and it has calmed down a lot thankfully (excruciating!) and I didn't want to block feed because of the pain in between and also worried about mastitis developing as I was getting feverish and burning and lumps etc...although I do give her one breast per feed. I think it's just waiting for my milk to regulate and not be so much of the watery stuff!
I even tried giving her a dummy to soothe her but unlike DD1 she has no interest in it... Which admittedly I find might be a blessing in the long run.
I will find out about getting some colief. Hopefully it will help.

Thanks again for the advice. Very helpful! X

Happy to help! This thread is not very active these days, most people are on the facebook group. You can find out how to join further back on this thread. I'm not on facebook though so will keep lurking here!

Everyone is well

randdom · 27/06/2014 11:34

I am going to brave a trip into Central Brighton today on my own for the first time with baby... Have to get the bus as I am not driving post section yet! Wish me luck!

moobaloo · 27/06/2014 18:41

Good luck random! Hope it went well!

randdom · 28/06/2014 00:29

Made it there and back without him waking up! Feeling much happier now that first journey is done Smile

kj21 · 28/06/2014 16:56

this is my first post and I am looking for advice from other new mums. my dd is 5 weeks old and has been suffering from reflux. she's on sma gold and has been prescribed gaviscon which hasn't really worked. I've just got some sma stay down to try and I've noticed a difference after only one bottle. i wondered if anyone has had this on prescription.

moas · 28/06/2014 18:45

Well done, randdom and baby!

kj21 DS1 had reflux due to another medical condition. He was on Gaviscon, Ranitidine, Omeprazole and Carobel (thickener). We never tried sma stay down, fantastic if it does the trick for your wee one! We had baby's bed slightly tilted, try a foam wedge under the cot mattress.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 03/07/2014 00:33

Hope everyone's well and all our non-FBers are enjoying motherhood!

ohdearitshappeningtome · 08/07/2014 21:37

How is everyone

NannyPlumForPM · 10/07/2014 15:52

Still here :) still thinking of you all and hoping your babies are as snuggly buggly as mine. Almost out of the casts now- I can't wait! She giggles away most mornings and life is just a lot better since she arrived! Thinking of moomin- oneborn, dobedobedo, cbeebies, moas, randdom, bushprincess- gosh there's just too many of you! And I hope the pfb is doing well too :)

ohdearitshappeningtome · 10/07/2014 21:10

How are you nanny ?

NannyPlumForPM · 11/07/2014 00:56

Very well very well!! When I put oneborn I meant you ohdear haha - still got a touch of the baby brains I think. She's a chunky girl -
On 210ml bottles of hungry baby milk now! Little porker :) sleeps from 7 until 5 though, has a bottle then sleeps until about 8:30 when the big one wakes her up so quite a quiet life really!! How about you and your little one?

randdom · 11/07/2014 08:56

I wish Isaac would sleep that well. I was up from 2-5 with him last night and then he woke up again at 7 and is still up now :(

ohdearitshappeningtome · 11/07/2014 10:16
