The Maybies are on the move to Postnatal! This is for graduated Maybies (and other baybies due in May but with other ideas; the almost-Maybies!) to discuss adventures in sleepless nights, nappies and lovely newborn snuggles. However you feed, however you nappy, however you give birth and however you like your tea - if your baby was born in May (or was supposed to be!), this is the post-natal club for you!

Dobe did the lip and tongue tie get sorted out yet?

randdom · 11/06/2014 12:29

We were discharged day one post c-section yesterday evening. Last night was difficult as I am still struggling with pain and am quite anaemic. We got through but he is feeding constantly and I do worry as I can't physically see that he is getting much as my milk hasn't come in yet. Waiting in for the midwife today . Shattered'

dobedobedo · 11/06/2014 15:14

Masterflea yes! It was divided a week ago and feeding has got so much better since then!

nugget05 · 11/06/2014 20:53

Oh randomm how rubbish, hopefully the midwife can suggest good pain killers that won't affect his feeding. From what I've been told they get ehat they need but small amounts and that's why they feed so often, once your milk comes in feeding should get easier Smile

Baby nugget is ok now after seeing 2 different gps a phone call to the hv and a trip to a&e to be seen by 2 more drs. They think it was probably a bug that has now passed through his system but it was horrible he was sleeping almost constantly, not feeding properly and really drowsy when he was awake Sad he's perked right up now and is back to his happy hungry self yay Grin Grin Grin

moas · 11/06/2014 23:07

randdom that sounds tough indeed! I remember I was such a wreck after my section with DS1, felt like I couldn't move the way I used to at all! Was much better after about a week though! You need to tell friends and family if you are struggling to cope, remember to look after yourself, you're the most important person to your baby! Don't worry about feeding, they have enough in storage til the milk comes in. Great that he is keen on feeding, slab the lanisoh on the nipples....

ohdearitshappeningtome · 12/06/2014 21:07

Such a hard day today :-(

moas · 12/06/2014 21:24

What's going on ohdear..?

ohdearitshappeningtome · 12/06/2014 22:24

Mini me very unsettled after his injections and screamed for 3 hours solid:-(

MasterFlea · 13/06/2014 06:26

Has he settled now Ohdear? What injections were they? I'm curious about the innoculation differences. I'm in Finland and so far DS has just gotten a BCG jab at birth. But he is back at the clinic in 2 weeks time. Norovirus is next I think.

Good to hear the tt is fixed Dobe.

moas · 13/06/2014 09:15

What a shame, hope things are better this morning! Has he got a temperature?

ohdearitshappeningtome · 13/06/2014 21:11

He's slept all day!!! He's had his hep and tetanus etc and bcg

MasterFlea · 14/06/2014 05:28

Poor boy. I hate innoculations. Hope he is better soon.

MoominAndMiniMoom · 15/06/2014 22:33

C has her jabs on Wednesday :( dreading it!

Don't think she's having the BCG... is it a location thing?

Hope everyone's ok! It's time consuming this baby thing isn't it??

We are day 18 today and discharged from the midwives weighing 10 lbs 10 1/2 oz after a 10'3 birth weight - yay! Also can barely believe he's gaining weight so well on breast milk, the first two weeks were such a struggle with expressing and bottles and cups and then going back to boobs, we have been using shields and exclusively breastfeeding since Wednesday and it appears to be working! It's so unbelievably hard but I think we've turned a corner now phew

Huge hugs and love to all of you and I'm looking forward to us all having a bit more time soon (when??) to catch up on how all our gorgeous babies are doing xxx

MasterFlea · 16/06/2014 20:24

Wow Moob, that's great news.
Good luck with the Jabs Moomin. Did you ever get an answer on whether Callie was lactose intolerant?

Babyflea is doing really well. He was cluster feeding all day so I think there is a growth spurt coming. It made the day harder as getting the two girls' food and all the rest when he didn't want to be put down. Hopefully he will have a nap tomorrow on his own.

He is starting to smile a bit now. Especially for DD1. He's not too keen on DD2 though. She is 2 yo and sometimes rough with him. She doesn't realise he is not like her toy baby.

ohdearitshappeningtome · 18/06/2014 21:55

Checking in again.... This dropped off !

ClearlyMoo · 19/06/2014 22:30

I lost the plot and lost the thread. Hello all. Had massive BF problems:

Low milk supply (anaemia)
Tongue tie (had 2 frenulotomys)
Cracked and sore nipples
Thrush
Mastitis
Baby not regained birthweight at 4 weeks - formula top ups required

Still going but "owwww"... Looking for encouragement really!

Getting a bit annoyed at all the people who think I should stop. M
I'm so so determined to keep going!

randdom · 19/06/2014 23:28

I am sorry that things are so difficult at the moment. I can somewhat relate, I have been having problems too, we are currently struggling to cut down the formula top ups that He was put on when he was readmitted to hospital on day 4 with dehydration. I never thought that things would be this hard Hmm all I have ever wanted to do is breastfeed and I just feel I am failing Hmm

ClearlyMoo · 20/06/2014 11:05

Randdom that's how I feel too. Still not back at birth weight at nearly 5 weeks. Just pushing on and feeding as much as I can. Feeling so so poorly though.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 20/06/2014 12:20

MasterFlea they don't think she's lactose intolerant. Just lazy bowels possibly (taking after me Hmm ) so nothing that can't be solved by baby massage and comfort formula :)

moobaloo · 20/06/2014 22:15

Hi pugs randdom and clearly xxx it's SO hard! If a success story will help I truly thought I'd be expressing for months or using formula with Freddy as it was so hard to get him to latch and he'd do it wrong and not get anything and then when he was putting on weight with EBM in a bottle and the occasional formula top up when I couldn't make enough I had to go back to breast which was so difficult, but I am now using nipple shields and he is gaining weight because he can latch on to me properly via them and it's not a nightmare any more! It's such a relief. It's still hard because he's lazy and doesn't feed for long enough so feeds little and often, bit we're working on it and I just can't believe it's working sometimes as it's been so hard! You are doing AMAZING jobs please stick at it as best you can. I got through the first week without a bottle by taking it one feed at a time and promising myself that I could go back to expressing any time if it got too hard or I didn't think he was drinking enough but each time I thought I'd do it we managed to finish a feed and it was ok and there would be a dirty nappy and I'd think, ok, this is working for now, but I can always go get the bottle... It was a safety net for me as I just thought he wasn't getting anything because I couldn't see it! But he put on weight and the midwives discharged me and so far so good we keep at it :)

bushprincess · 21/06/2014 09:33

Chip86 · 21/06/2014 14:35

clearly random sorry your having problems keep going back to your HV untill you get the help you need and its better
i have the other problem over supply and fast let down means she does not latch properley and chokes Sad but had loads of support and it getting better slowly Smile

have a safe trip bush

randdom · 21/06/2014 17:26

It has been a difficult 24 hours. We have had constant breast feeding which I guess is good and he is wolfing down his top ups. It is just difficult because we are cutting down the top ups on advice from out health visitor but appears so hungry I am terrified he is going to start loosing weight and end up back in hospital again :(

SarahJinx · 22/06/2014 07:46

Fell off my threads too. Sorry you're having such a rough time clearly and random bf'ing is either one of the easiest or hardest things you'll do imo.

Random you don't have to stop giving the top ups if you aren't ready to? Your baby, your choice. If its helping you and your gaining confidence then maybe consider doing it for a little longer? Clearly hope you're getting the right support, sounds like you've had a nightmare. For both, good help us available on the feeding boards on here, more specialist. And you can contact la Leche League too.
