CantSleepWontSleep · 09/08/2006 07:38

Right ladies - the race is on to see which of our DCs can self feed a sausage roll first!

Oh, and some of you don't seem to have aged since we got pregnant, so if you've got closer to your telegrams from the queen then please let me know!

Not saying that you should let him do it, stop him, but don't expect no to work yet, he isn't ready to understand.

When ds1 was this age well i little bigger but not much we had a lovely book which went something like.... Come and see the baby animals. Stoke the baby rabbits soft fur. ( furry pinture of rabbit) etc we read it loads and he used to stroke the fur and say aaaaaaaaah. When he mixed with animals eg nanny's cat we would say aaaaah and he would stroke it it the way that we did the book ie gently. That seemed to work think it was a DK book I want a new copy as liked it so much. You could try with a soft teddy?

Chloe55 · 18/08/2006 09:52

I do think he's a wimp - he cried when I broke a plate the other day and when I sneezed I am of course joking about the wimp thing but I didn't scream in his ear or anything honest - just think I maybe shocked him with my tone.

Morning all. Just a quick hello from me. Am off to Morgan's for lunch today so need to sort out some food to take for DD whilst she is asleep. She's not been too enthusiastic about lunch the last couple of days, so need to make it a winner!

Hotmama - were you saying the other day about weaning DD off milk in the night, or did I read another thread about it? DD had milk at 8:20 and 11 somethingorother last night (had gone to bed at 7), so when she woke again at 1:30 I figured she didn't need more, and tried to do CC to get her back to sleep. After over an hour I tried offering her water, but she wasn't interested (don't know if it was the water or the cup she didn't want), so ended up feeding her, but we were up for over 1.5hours in total. If you find a good way of getting her to stop then I'd love to hear it!

Frizbe - also at your name - very clever!

Mine of course speaks for itself, but my original name is actually just a shortened version of my real name, and what my good RL friends call me.

How silly is this..... been looking forward to them going to grandparents for some peace but it's so quiet and they have only just left feels odd

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/08/2006 16:45

Quiet day on here now!

Had a lovely time with Morgan this afternoon. Pic of the 4 of us here .

This reminded me that I didn't post any pics from last week's meet up. A couple here:
leon
bram, izzy, pippa

mrm - am I allowed to post the one of you and Bram which I think is lovely?

dame - they'll be back soon enough, so do the relaxing that you had planned!

PhoenixGirl · 18/08/2006 20:04

I do a full afternoon at work and come home hoping to read loads of posts and what do i get 2 where is everyone?

Frizbe · 18/08/2006 20:22

you lot are great for the ego, so I'm funny and clever! like it lots however I do agree with Thell it's a groaner really

Chloe, when dd2 grabs my skin and boy does she grab,( I have bruises and dried wounds all over my poor boobs) I try to pull a sad face at her, whilst saying ouch, detaching her and shaking my head at the same time, as think they tend to go more on visual clues at this age? although I could be sooo wrong.

CSWS those photos of you all are lovely, particularly love the one of all 3 of them, they're great at this age

Dew, any news on other kitten?

Dame, could just be that he hates baby rice! have you tried him on any breakfast rice porridges to see what happens there?? not heard of it before tho? you could start a thread?

Thell, your dd sounds like my dd1, I really hope she can sing when she grows up (Frizbe's pension fund!)

Well dh has gone, its just me and the girls for 11 days (ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH) still managed to get them all in bed by 7.30 tonight as they were both shattered! so even got to eat my tea by 8 (left it till I'd sorted them tonight, usually eat with them, but large lunch with dh!) just waiting for an early wake up call from them both now.....

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 20:58

Evening,

I read your thread earlier, Chloe, but didn't have time to reply. I agree that it's too early to do what youwere, but there are lots of good ideas there for you to try. Boy is also hair pulling (and biting when he feeds - ow) and I hold his hand with mine so he can't pull, and gently release.
Have you heard of positive parenting? I learnt about it on a parenting course run by my clinic (and again on the same course run by dds school - I'm a slow learner!). It's basically reinforcing the behaviour you want, and ignoring the behaviour you don't want. If you ever get the chance to do something like this, I'd recommend it (definitely when they get to be toddlers and you can easily find yourslef saying no all day every day, and being ignored)

Thanks for the pics csws. We really should have put them all down and got one of them together before they started falling asleep

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 22:36

Helloooooooo.....

Anyone out there??????

Where is everyone?

Come on Frizbe, I know you're around.
Talk to me.

PhoenixGirl · 18/08/2006 22:39

I'm here (cos i'm sad)

Just watching BB then of to bed tho cos i at work at 8.50 tomorrow

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 22:41

I stayed up for "All New" csi only to find I've seen it before.
I've avoided BB as I get drawn into those programmes too easily (and my mn addiction is bad enough)

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 22:42

going to work.

I should be in bed, too. The girls are getting up at 6 every day atm.

PhoenixGirl · 18/08/2006 22:46

Lewis is at my mums so no worries of him getting up at between 4-5 am. I just need to get myself up for 7.30ish

Frizbe · 18/08/2006 22:48

hello! I'm lurking! just got sucked into a silly site on tornadoes for a minute!

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 22:59

I've just found some nappy wraps for sale on here, exactly what I need (he's getting too big for his ) and really cheap.

I bet they've been sold already.

Boy has been asleep since 9, but he only slept for two hours in total from 6am to bedtime, so I'm hoping for a good night from him. The dds don't do lie ins, and dp will be at work, so I'm hoping I can get them watching tv and go back to bed tomorrow.

PhoenixGirl · 18/08/2006 22:59

Me off to bed now, night night.

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 23:00

Good night.

One more cup of tea, then I'm off, too.

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 23:00

Good night.

One more cup of tea, then I'm off, too.

Frizbe · 18/08/2006 23:03

nite girls, i'm just finishing my wine then off too!

3k · 18/08/2006 23:13

big brother has finished!!! I was sooo addicted this year!!

Chloe, I tell Ben NO too but he just laughs at me. I'm glad you posted the thread as it had some good tips for me too. All of us first timers are still learning after all.

Hello everyone else or should I say night night!!

Jasnem · 18/08/2006 23:15

Us third timers are still learning too...

Night all.

3k · 18/08/2006 23:26

I guess so Jas, all kids are different so what works for one might not work for another.

Right I'm off to bed too, feel knackered now.

Sweet dreams all
xxx

Frizbe · 19/08/2006 08:09

Ah well at least I wasn't the last one on here, what with being the 1st this am, that would have been too can you tell dh is away!! (not that I don't keep reminding you all, zzzzz)

So I was right 3.15am....dd1 climbs into bed with me....3.45am I chuck her back into her own,as she's just too wriggly.....4.15am dd2 wakes for a feed (far to early!) finishes at 5am....6.30am dd1 comes in and hits me when I won't take her downstairs immediately......she is sent back to her room for an hour.......we're all up now tho and are behaving nicely to each other again! I feel a visit to Grans n Grandads is in order to keep me sane.

Jasnem · 19/08/2006 08:21

Would it help if I told you I was up at 6.30?

Boy was up 2.30 to 3 for a feed, but dp woke me at 6.30
He got up at 7 to give me a lie in, and 10 mins later his mate rang to tell him he was working after all (He had thought he'd got the day off). Girls slept til almost 8.

Frizbe · 19/08/2006 08:29

at your dh Jas, why do they do that! so your feeling tired too eh! I'm sure the 3 glasses of wine didn't help me much tho either.... Argh think I'm gona go back on ww as of monday, try to loose some more weight....been thinking about stopping BF at 6mths, last week I was sure I was going to, but I keep thinking it's just so easy! then I think about more teeth and go ouch! oh decisions, decisions....
